I would highly recommend 1024 for Dragon Miners.  Otherwise if your miner gets a burst of shares due to luck, vardiff will put you at 1024 and roughly half of your submissions will get rejected for low difficulty.  While that shouldn't cause any issue with earnings, it will make your stats look completely terrible.
Changing now.

Also, I'm no so sure that acts as a minimum in the dragon settings and here's why...

Difficulty Sel : 512 --Current difficulty:512

It's like whatever you set is what it's told to always run at  Huh

It is the starting difficulty. Why do you put 512? I have 1024 on both of my dragons...
I like to start low and let the miner ramp a little if it needs to. but what about the bit in red, if that wasnt a hard code dif setting should the --Current Difficulty: be showing 1024 or higher ?

How does something like this affect shares if at all since work is still being done at full ramp even though the Gh/s might show otherwise at first on the site.

I guess, because you did not put minimum Difficulty for your dragons to 1024?  Grin

I have 2 dragons, it takes 5 minutes to show correct hash rate. Check both in BTCGuild and your miners settings page. Make sure you have 1024 in both places.
Ty for the info Michael.

As to this quote, there was some tweaking done as Michael hinted at but the diff I got set for 512 on the workers page and 512 in the miner. Here's what's showing now since my query.

MoreBloodWine_Dragon0001   1,032.83 GH/s
MoreBloodWine_Dragon0002   1,014.02 GH/s
MoreBloodWine_Dragon0003   1,064.99 GH/s
1325  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [11000 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+NMC, Stratum, VarDiff, Private Servers on: July 03, 2014, 10:31:20 PM
Hey Michael, got a question for ya.

So on the "main" page where it shows active worker summary. Why when plugging in large miners like 1Th plus does that info take so long to ramp up / normalize ?

My collo guy plugged in my three dragons today, and this is what I saw after about 5 mins or so.

MoreBloodWine_Dragon0001   522.48 GH/s
MoreBloodWine_Dragon0002   974.58 GH/s
MoreBloodWine_Dragon0003   513.99 GH/s

And I'm just now starting to see things normalize well over an hr later on the site even though the miners backend always shows 1Th+

MoreBloodWine_Dragon0001   980.04 GH/s
MoreBloodWine_Dragon0002   993.90 GH/s
MoreBloodWine_Dragon0003   1,040.17 GH/s

1327  Economy / Digital goods / [WTB] Looking for an investment script for Cex.io / Ghash... Ty. on: July 03, 2014, 06:02:13 PM
Looking for something I can run on my server by cron every 4hrs or so to invest available NMC in Gh/s

This is new territory for me, never used a script to automate purchase of anything before so ty for all help.
1328  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [11000 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+NMC, Stratum, VarDiff, Private Servers on: July 03, 2014, 12:40:39 PM
Lol, 8 blocks found yesterday with the last one being almost 5.5hrs ago.

With what I got running now (210Gh/s) and the 3Th I got coming online in the next 12-18hrs I'm supposed to average 0.09329440 BTC per day under current diff and I don't know if I'll get anywhere near that for a while with this luck.

Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Ghash seems to be finding around an avg of 45-50 blocks a day so I might have to go there if the first three to four days don't look good here after the new stuff comes on line. Even if it is only costing me $80 a month from a guy I know who has free electricity written in to his businesses rental contract where all my stuff is hosted.

I really love BTCGuild but I don't see how I'll be able to stay here if I don't average at least 0.08 / 0.085 a day here even though it should be around 0.093x

Either way, time will tell when the new stuff comes online tomorrow sometime.

You could make 20BTC/day and it would mean nothing if the pool you mined on were to go over 51% and force a concerted attack and decided to go on their own fork.  If every miner focused on 1 or 2% gains at the expense of the whole network where would we be?
Lets say I settled for less, which isn't out of the realm of possibility. Just how "low" do I go because there is a tipping point for just about every one.

Like, knowing I should be getting around 0.093x a day, there's no way in hell I would stay on any pool if it was givin me like 0.03 for more than 2 days because lets be honest, there is bad luck where you might have one or two severely f'd up days like that.

I totally get the sentiment.  I have 3 expensive SP10s I am trying to at least earn back what I paid for them.  If I don't make back what I spent or at least close to it, then I just threw a good chunk of money away.  And let's not forget the electric bill as well.

This is hard times for miners...
Unlike most people I get ridiculously (sp?) cheap electric due to my friend who hosts for me at his business for basically $20 a month for every 1k watts. That said, I because of that have more room to play with but it doesn't mean I'm going to take too big of a hit willingly. As you said, I'm trying to break even which I have a better chance than most because of my low hosting costs. Once / even if I do break even, is still not a reason to take a hit to the proverbial wallet since there's nothing to technically lose once one breaks even on cost of hardware and has nothing to worry about but the electricity bill.

Either way, once the 3Th is up, I'll let it go til sunday to see where I stand.

^^^^^^^

So sad to hear that.

Have a patience, I can feel Good Luck on his way to our pool Smiley And he promises to stay a bit longer this time  Grin

P.S. I have almost 14TH/s and a huge loan on my ass, units are in datacenter, I still mine here. I argue everyday with my partner, to stay away from GHASH. It is hard, but I can't risk the future of BTC. I will blame myself for the rest of my life, if something goes wrong with BTC, while me being involved in that. Enough said...
Well, my equipment wasn't supposed to get to my collo guy til Monday with the S&H method previously chosen (UPS 3 day select), I forgot the 4th was Fri. That said, he loaned me 0.21x BTC to pay for 2day air so it all gets to him on the 3rd. That said... since it comes online tomorrow / later today, I'll let it roll through Sun. but if things don't look good by Mon I will have a decision to make, a hard one at that because BTCG has been good to me.

All the pools must be having bad luck.  200 blocks into this difficulty and the re-target is the same as the current difficulty.  Bitminter just had a 1 day+ block and they have more hash than us right now.

And this is why PPS in the old form would kill any pool.
Lol, no thy don't... they go 1.2Ph where we have a hair over 11Ph.

This is the kind of Luck that discourages me from buying more equipment if the Pool is going to struggle this bad for a share of the rewards.
I got 3Th I'll have coming online any time between this Thursday or the Monday that follows (3rd - 7th).

1334  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [11000 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+NMC, Stratum, VarDiff, Private Servers on: July 01, 2014, 05:38:08 AM
Dev and IXC only add about 0.1% more to your profits and it's another coin you have to send to an exchange and then dump for Bitcoin (assuming you only want BTC).  I think the uptime and security affording by this pool and others like Bitminter and Elegius exceed the paltry add on of those coins.

Not counting uptime/security (unlikely to be affected), the real issue is extra load on the servers.  As you pointed out, DVC+IXC are virtually worthless.  I'm not even sure if they're 0.1% actually.  Adding extra coins to each pool server means each server will be wasting time accessing the SSDs/RAM for those coins, a few CPU cycles, and some bandwidth every time they get a block.  That will at least minimally impact bitcoind performance.  How much?  I can't say, and nobody else really can either.  But it is a non-0 impact, and for how worthless they are, I'm not willing to risk ANY performance for junk coins on BTC Guild.
What about this though, thoughts / concerns ?

If BTC Guild could offer a low cost PPS variant (as suggested in a thread by Meni Rosenfeld) in conjunction with some other pools, I think GHash.IO would be in trouble.
1335  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [11000 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+NMC, Stratum, VarDiff, Private Servers on: July 01, 2014, 03:03:40 AM
Are there any plans in the near future to start merge mining with Devcoin (DVC) and Inter eXchange Coin (IXC) just like Ghash?

Nope.

Seems unfortunate. I would think someone would want to start competing against ghash in every way possible. Obviously it isn't possible to run 0% without a subsidy like Cex backing them.

Not unfortunate really - not if you want a pool with good uptime and a pool op that spends time making sure bitcoin mining runs smoothly rather than fixing devcoin and ixcoin merged mining implementation bugs.

I get that, but if there is one person who could do it well, it would be eleuthria. I would just like to see a strong competitor to ghash, not just people "sacrificing" one feature or another for the sake of the network. Ghash is reporting 47PH/s now. It isn't working out so well...

I'm not sure merged mining coins is the answer. If BTC Guild could offer a low cost PPS variant (as suggested in a thread by Meni Rosenfeld) in conjunction with some other pools, I think GHash.IO would be in trouble.
I doubt Michael would go back to any form of PPS but I could be wrong, wouldn't hurt to have him look that link over and get back to us though but ya, I feel GHash is hurting a lot of the pools in one form or another.

support@minersource.net asking anywhere else will not get a response.
My apologies, I forgot I made a post in here earlier...

If not paste, why / how would swapping bays with another blade help ?

I've seen others report this xxx000 thing before.

I don't know exactly why, but it does-I had exactly the same problem and this is what fixed it.
Boards are not exactly the same size, so, I guess, they fit better in different places on the control board.
My guess is that it's software related, the system doesn't seem very stable.
That being the case, you think Bitmain would have caught on and tried to find a resolution instead of pushing miner after miner out the door.
You would think so, but it seems to have been left to Kano to sort out in the meantime...
Kano ?

Also, still looking for some S2 coupons if anyone still has some valid ones. Looking for 4 of them, my Bitmain name is the same as my name here... MoreBloodWine

Ok, so the Cex image isn't showing but the hash there amounts to like 2.36Gh/s or something... all bought with the NMC mined here.

In that case, please accept my apologies. A bit nervous past days... Diff jump, bad luck, high ambient in datacenter and 8 SP10s running below my expectations. Sorry.
Shit happens, I just don't have a use for namecoins, they don't really convert for much so I figured F'it, may as well just invest it at Cex and see what happens.
