1761  Economy / Goods / How much BTC might this fully backwards PS3 be worth ? on: December 18, 2013, 10:10:10 PM
I have an original early model of the PS3 that is fully backwards compatible with PS1 & PS2 games. Even though yes the PS4 did just come out. I do know for a fact that my PS3 still has great value. So I am curious what it might be worth to some of you if I were to sell it for BTC.

Full S/NM: CM094077247-CECHE01 MG

Contents / items included in this query...

1) 1 x Original MGS4 box, game no included.
2) 1 x HDMI Gold Cable
3) 1 x BlueRay Remote missing a battery cover, still works.
4) 1 x Power Cable
5) 1 x 80gb System.
6) 1 x Two Controller charger that also has two USB slots to allow for the simaltaneous charging of up to four controllers.
7) 2 x Dualshock 3 controllers, one functiong while the other just needs a battery.
-7a) Consider it to be one working controller for righ now until the other one that just needs a batery is found.

Also not too sure on how a deal like this would work if I did sell it for BTC since trust has to go both ways and start with someone.

Also, if this a one and done import to blockchain or something that needs to be done everytime a seller wants to collec funds ?
Every new transaction will create with it a new private key to hold the funds of that transaction, so you can't just do it once.
So for every litteral transaction, the previously stated steps need to be done ? There's no way to batch it ? Seems kinda suckish if someone does 20 transactions in one day and has to do all those steps for each and every one.
You don't need to follow those steps for every transaction. The steps I described allow you to export all your private keys at once. It is a batch export in a sense, but once new keys get added to your database then you will need export those new keys (which can be done as batch also). The reason for having a new address for every transaction is because it's recommended practice in order to provide increased anonymity to buyers, and also because of the way transactions are processed, it requires each new address to start off with an empty balance. If it used just a single address then it would be very hard to separate the transactions and work out who paid what without having the bitcoind server installed.
Ahh, makes my mind sit at ease now heh.

For importing your keys into blockchain.info wallet:

1. Login to admin area
2. Got to Orders
3. Select MANAGE KEYS
4. Select EXPORT KEYS
5. Input private RSA key when prompted
6. Scroll down and copy text from "Blockchain.info Format" box
7. Log into Blockchain.info wallet
8. Select "Import / Export" from top menu
9. Select "Import Wallet" from side menu
10. Paste text from step 6 into box and select "Import Wallet"
Might I sugest adding this to the main pot ?

But where do I receive the money? I downloaded the private key, where/in which wallet can I import this key?
It's simple. After decoding (using your earlier generated private RSA key) the private BTC key, you can import it to your wallet. If you're using the official one bitcoin client, there's command "importprivkey KEY", or if you're using the blockchain.info wallet, go to Import / Export area, then paste your decoded private key. Hope that helps.
Instead of stating something bland, how about something like...

Step 1: Do this
Step 2: Do that
Step 3: voila you have your money.

Edit: I use the blok chain site, so I would have no ideal how to even beging to get funds from sales, just like a lot of other users.

Lol, last reply got deleted, suspect this one will to.

Either way, assuming the lender and the lendee aren't the same person, I hope the lender gets all of his funds back.

Would you consider adding a decimal point and the comma number_format() ?

So as of now WTFATF has a rate of 22762... what I'm asking is to change the display so it might look like this: 22,762.8

Yeah, or maybe display TH/s or GH/s depending on your speed, like with Bitminter client.

I think it's fine the way it is now in the sense of th/gh.

I mean using WFATF again, from what your talkin about if I'm guessing right would either be:

22.76 TH/s or 762 GH/s.

I kinda like the way it is now displaying the whole number, with the exception to my suggestion of adding the comma and single decimal point so it would be 22,762.8... assumin his decimal point would be an 8.

Edit: Actually, thinking more on your idea would be kind of neat... would keep images the same size they are now, the text in the image would need to change accordingly though.

Since right now it's hardcoded to Ghps.

So if your at or above 1,000 it would be Thps, hell, just for shits n giggles you could even factore in Phps.

Only thing would be needing to widen the images about 10 - 15px or so.
1769  Economy / Digital goods / Re: BitShop - digital bitcoin shop script [PHP/MYSQL] (v0.9.6) on: December 14, 2013, 06:57:30 AM
I think it looks cleaner without the currency symbol in the top part, and it takes up too much space to put the '24hr W.Avg' part in there. So I will probably leave it how it is. But in the next release I will probably add a new option to the config file which lets people change between the the 24 weighted average or the last close price without having to go through and change all the places where $btc_stats['avg'] is used.
That's your call but with the w.avg option it migh help clear up confusion on that figure. As for omitting the currency symbol, each to their own but I feel it helps with it being there (the currency sumbol).

Actually, if were talking options, why not add one that lets a user choose to show or hide it, what would it be, like 6 lines of code ?
1770  Economy / Digital goods / Re: BitShop - digital bitcoin shop script [PHP/MYSQL] (v0.9.6) on: December 14, 2013, 05:59:22 AM
Well that sucks, BTC-e removed from bitcoin charts USD

I had BitShop set to read the BTC-e USD price and now it doesn't work. Had to change it back to Mt. Gox USD.

Just a note for anyone who may be experiencing the same problem.
That sucks, and while I'm at it... did you catch my would you consider in the next updae reply ?

Finally heh... I know this might seem trivial, but in the next update. Might you consider ormatting like I have done ?

1 BTC = $984.46 USD (24hr W.Avg)

Except in the case of the dollar sign, this could be the denomination set by the user in the one confi file. Then there's the adiion of the (24hr W.Avg)

As you saw, I hadd some confusion about why that figure was off as wwell as some others until you told me it's the weighed average figure.

// security string used for encryption (16 chars)
$sec_str = 'CHANGETHISSTRING';

I don't get what I'm supposed to do with this though.

You just have to change this to any random string. Like:

$sec_str = 'CHANGET35345325xxxHISSTRING';
$sec_str = 'fXUMDwzgU6kYxJb8p';
$sec_str = '9S9egqpZWp64kSLmTHUPSfSsrzx8rQ65pZRVEs';
...

All ok, doesn't matter. Just change, dont leave this defaut string.

So just any random bs thats 16 chars long, k.

In addition to my above sugestion, I'm a little lost.

I created and set the public rsa key.

// security string used for encryption (16 chars)
$sec_str = 'CHANGETHISSTRING';

I don't get what I'm supposed to do with this though.

Doc, have you considered adding pps?

No time right now. Just trying to keep things running smooth at the moment.

Can anyone comment on what the addition of PPS would do to other miners who stay on PPLNS?  From my understanding, I tend to prefer PPLNS - it seems more sustainable and less risk to the pool.  I'm not quite sure I understand how pools work when both payout systems are present as an option.
I don't even know what PPS is let alone fully understand PPLNS other than it's supposed to make pay more fair since it's supposed to be based on he amount of work you do for the server.

PPS, pay per share. For people who don't mine constantly, and for a few hours at a time it is better.

So both mean fair pay...

PPS: Fair pay for say 12hr a day miners
PPLNS: Fair pay for always plugged in and running miners

Here's the thing though, how would adding PPS affect PPLNS ?

Shouldn't, right now there is only one pool that offers both pps & pplns. It would be nice to see another one too.
I guess what I'm more curious about is if both were added, does a user choose the scale they want or the server just kinda sense what the user is doing and applies either or.

1776  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for 1.5 BTC, will pay back 2 BTC... on: December 13, 2013, 07:57:30 PM
Another question, why doesn't someone just go off and buy their own 400GH/s off this site?
That's on them, some people don't like preorders but I'm fine with it, the way I managed to get the funds with buying and selling stuff. I can easily say my cost is nil. So technially everything I do make when I get the units would be solid profit bu even looking at the $1,867 I spent, $1,912 after bank fees. I'll break even in a month, month n  half with a bitch of a diff by the time I receive the equipment.

I've seen your browsing around the lending section warning other users, forgot that you had a loan request of your own Grin
I havent done much warning, just talkin bout stuff like the guy lookin for BTC for kids. One person said somethin bout buying it and showing them a receipt. Then I said something about it wouldnt be hard or that person to do that, get the BTC then just go back to the store and return the items. If I get my loan great, if not then at least I tried, but unlike a lot of other people here. I dont harp on it with please please please, trust me ill pay back and all that jazz that a lot of ohers do. I'm not hard up for the loan, just would be cool if I got it.

That's all cool.  Currently I have invested most in cloud mining on CEX.io, so I am pretty cool with bitcoin mining.  I would usually not fund a loan in bitcoins is there is no real collateral being offered, but good luck!
Thx, I looked at cex for a bit but I just couldnt justify spending 2 grand and not getting close to a third of what I have on preorder.

Ok, my insult was harsh... but you cant say you didnt insult me first.

THIS ALL SEEMS FISHY

If I wanted to scam someone which I don't, I'd sure as hell be trying harder and not have a care free feeling on whether or not I get the loan even though as I said before it would be nice if I did.

I've been on these forums a tad lonegr than you so don't pretend to know me and assume I'm a scammer. I have yet to call anyone here one, worst I have done is just voice an opinion or two.

So wash between your legs better next time you shower... you don't see me crying waa please fund me waa do you ?

If me showing self restraint and not caring one way or the other if I get the loan (even though yes, I'd like it) yells fishy to you then you my friend, have a good batch of weed I'd like to invest in !

I ask because, using the 100gh x 4, if we set one worker to 286, thats what each unit would try to run which seems to high where as using a diff of 71. That would seem more appropriat for a machine doing 100gh.

The mining server looks at the hashrate per worker. So if you run a lot of hardware as the same worker but set a minimum difficulty based on the hashrate of just one of those devices, then the mining server will probably set a higher difficulty for you.

Anyway, the mining server will mostly take care of this for you. Setting a minimum diff is most useful for the first few minutes of mining so the mining server doesn't have to ramp you up from diff 4 to diff 512 in a hurry, it can start on a difficulty that makes more sense for your worker.

So if the server corrects with ideal diffs, then I could just ignore seting a minimum and let it settle in to that sweet spot on it's own after time, since for me when my hardware gets here will be 6 workers @ 100gh each. So I can either use one worker for the 6 identical workers at 71 or just forget setting a minimum and let them settle in on their own, assuming I didn't misunderstand what you just said.
