901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POT] PotCoin Launches Today 01/21 @ 4:20 on: June 30, 2014, 06:37:42 PM
Since I've announced that Milk Mane Supply is now accepting Bitcoin in this thread before, and was yelled at for it not being PotCoin related, I will ask now-

Who would be interested in buying any of our products with PotCoin, if that were an option?

You'd probably get a better response from the Reddit community, but I'm guessing people would be interested.  CBD oils for vapes is a great idea.

Not sure your point... at the time of those spikes... POT was using the latest version of KGW(same version as NLG is using now)... I know... I was there mining POT. You can also ask 'Fuse' as I am part of the Criptoe Team... he will confirm the facts.

Go to Github and check the PotCoin commits... POT is now using Digishield for its block retargting algo... which is only slightly better than KGW at coping... which means it does not make any real world difference.

No simulation needed... that was how KGW reacted in the real world.

I am speaking from experience trying to protect NLG and ensure it succeeds.

24Kilo is correct.  Most coins have moved to DGW or Digishield in response to the shortcomings of KGW.  POT realized this and made the move after realizing that the newer KGW wasn't totally effective.  It did plug the timewarp hole(as far as we know).

While a move to Digishield would be beneficial in the long run, staying off the coin profitability sites will negate the need... for now.  The good news is that the total network hashrate is relatively low right now.  Making a move to Digishield would be easier to manage right now.  In addition, the code change is minimal.  I would say go for it.

For the time being though, Like 24Kilo mentioned, under the radar with organic traffic is the way to go.

A little analyse from the post of GeertJohan (thanks for this info):

So, there are 4 big miners at the moment out of 35 (last 5000 blocks), 1 has recently stopped (he/she mined 15.3 M NLG of 72.2 M NLG!!). Despite the rise of total hashrate, less miners over time as it seems.

We can get a lot more miners via http://www.coinwarz.com/voting

Last 50.000(!!) blocks (starting from 72227):

Some of those addresses are pools.  I'm going to take a guess that "HaRg" is the hardcore pool.  My pool is in there as well.  The "DPhi" address though is not a public pool.  That is a miner.  A large miner.  Or it's a private pool with a lot of power behind it.  That is probably our dumper.

100MH miner I've mentioned before, PM me and let me know if you're in that list.  If you're willing of course.  It would be interesting to know.

You're correct. As I said: the program isn't perfect yet. It's showing the global lines but it's still missing those strange blocks. I also just fixed a bug that omitted some tx addresses.

We'll might create a small site for this showing these numbers and updating every hour or so..

Well keep us updated.  This looks really promising.

Thanks, mate!

Hi all,

I just made a small program that iterates over the latest blocks in the chain and calculates the cumulative of mined coins per address.
The results are interesting. Please note this is just an indication as to where mined coins were sent. It doesn't exactly say 'who' mined the coins.
It's also important to note that the program still fails to analyze a small few strange blocks, such as 72028 (http://dutchpool.org:2752/block/e1e106cc16a68528529436b949ad0265a9eb033998ca68d4cd6fc9747ab2220a). I'm still working on a fix, but the impact on the results below will be very small and I didn't want to keep you waiting.

I've ran the program several times with a different number of historical blocks analyzed.

(INFO REMOVED TO SAVE SPACE)

I hope you find it interesting!
Thanks!

/GeertJohan

edit: fix minor english mistakes

I'm not sure the figures are 100% correct.  Both my pool and personal addresses are in the lists, but the numbers don't quite correspond with what I'm seeing on my end as total mined coin.  Can you clarify how you got the values that you've calculated?

This is a really interesting set of data, and a great tool for analyzing trends in the blockchain.

That isn't a bad idea! The dev team should indeed add an up-to-date counter to the website regarding each funds.

By donating funds to a Dutch charity they might reach the media and press indeed. For example the Dutch SBS program "Hart van Nederland" might be interesting in this kind of news, as they Always have that charity-related news (in contrast to the NOS etc).

The Dev team might consider to create a page where you can donate to individual created charity programs too. I think some people are interested in these programs AS LONG AS THEY APPEAR TO BE LEGIT. So, someone has to escrow this service (or the GuldenCoin team has to do this themself). "Hart van Nederland" shows such individual charity programs each day, for example now about that girl that went to the USA for some oxygen therapy (which was possible because of the donations that we're send towards this project after an episode of Hart van Nederland I guess).  Sending GuldenCoins to such projects is way more easy - atleast for us - than doing it the regular way by bank.

I agree... target the home country first, and create a buzz.

http://www.charity-charities.org/Netherlands-charities/Netherlands.html has a pretty good list.

No doubt, you are doing a very good job with hardcoreminers!  Cool

If people want to mine NLG go to:

https://nlg.hardcoreminers.com

With 175MH of the total traffic, do you really think it's wise to tell people to mine there?  There are pools with less than 10MH listed in the OP that could use extra miners.

Please be responsible and spread the hashrate.  Not only is it better for network security, but it also nets miners more coin.  In the last year and a half of mining, I have found that when I mine on a pool that carries around 10-15% of the network hashrate, I earn upwards of 20% more coin per day.  Something in the stars just works better in that percentage range.  When my pool, Tagmining.com, was carrying 400MH of the TAG network, the CripToe team was mining on a private pool because of this "phenomenon".

Spread the hashes.  For the network sake, and your wallet's sake.

One idea which I think would help people see the "adoption" of Guldencoin, would be a easy to see volume of all the NLG's used in the retail outlets, day by day.....

This way, we can see how NLG is really being adopted by people on the street - in comparison to the transactions between traders / miners.

I would assume this not to be too difficult, assuming the DEV's have the addresses of the merchants already signed up? :-)

I'm not sure how the software works on the merchant side, but I would think that it would generate a random address for each transaction.  It might be difficult to track the coin amounts.

Additionally, merchants could be taking fiat as the end payment.  I think tracking the fiat amount is a better representation of the adoption.  However, that would require asking the merchants to divulge financial info.  That might be a bit tricky.

Not knocking the idea... I'd love to see the numbers as well if it were possible.

Eslfc1, if you could just verify the terms for my accountability.

100% correct the only true protection from mine dumping is switching to FULL POS but POS is only a short term solution that only a few hands benefit. With POW it's a lot more decentralized and more people get access. The main reason coins are going to POS is to attract whales that can manipulate the market with PnD.
I would say give the coin 3 weeks, who knows what else the team has in store and maybe one day we will all thank the miners that are dumping out at these prices.

+1... weak hands mean cheap buys, and only time will tell what happens to coins.  You can't make rash decisions and major changes based on what you think will happen.  That would be like shooting everyone around you because one day they might turn into zombies.  I'd rather take my chances with the zombies.

We should have a competition to see who can get the most merchants listed for NLG. Wink

I'd up the bounty if people wanted to get serious with something like this.  Say 300k NLG by the end of July?

Hows this for a deal, if the coin gets taken down to 10 Sats can we switch to X11 and give the middle finger to ASICs and Multipools backed by POS coin that dump out on POW coins?
The exact same shit happened to Noble coin which is a threat to other coins because of it's merchant adoption, some people see this coin as a threat and will even lose money trying to kill it.

I am an ASIC miner.  I can't run GPUs out here in California, USA because we run on a tiered electric pay rate.  When I was running 8MH in GPUs, I was paying $0.36 a KW/H.  I had to go to ASICs to continue mining.

So basically you're saying you want to give me the middle finger because I chose to switch to ASICs to continue to be able to mine?  And all because you had a bad experience with another coin?

You keep spouting off at the mouth with all this anti-ASIC FUD, but I hate to tell you that most people now are mining with ASICs.  They're cheaper to buy, and cheaper to run.  Every new ASIC that lands on the NLG network is just securing the chain even more.

Honestly, WildWest... quit with the BS and spread the FUD elsewhere.

How many times what?

Let them work in peace, the coin needs a fresh start anyway. No point of hurrying when the coin is practically dead already. Let it take the time it takes and this will be good Smiley

Exactly... how many times what, mo?

How many times people keep asking what the status is?  Because that's getting kind of old.  We haven't forgotten about it, and we haven't stopped working on it.  When we have good news, we'll start a new post and let people know.

Sparkit... thanks, mate.  You're right... the coin is almost completely dead in it's current state.  There is no rush.  Being as such, we're getting creative with what we're doing.  The CripToe team wants to do something new with this coin.  In fact we're trying to code two brand new things that have never been done before.  It takes time and testing.  When we're done, we hope that these changes will be a absolute win for KDC.

Update:

We have updated the KDC code to the newest LTC base.  This will give us a strong foundation to build on in the future.  We are still working on the newer coin changes, including the experimental things that haven't been done before.  While this is high on our priority list(at the top in fact), we have RL obligations that the team is going through as well.  Hang tight.  It will happen.

We are very happy to announce a new member in the Guldencoin family, Bitstraat.nl. Bitstraat.nl offers hardware solutions for merchants, which will make accepting Guldencoin easy and convenient.

Hot damn!  You guys make me really happy.

I've been involved with mining, being a pool op, trading, etc for like a year and a half now.  I've seen a lot of coins come and go, and I've been close to a lot of coin dev teams.  NLG's dev team is by far the best I've seen in the last year.  These guys aren't over hyping and under producing.  They are doing it right.

My hat goes off to the dev team.  Kudos to your hard work, and your ability to properly support your project.

There is so much anti-ASIC FUD in this forum lately that I don't even know what to say.

Don't change algorithms post release.  That's just amateur hour.  Do you think BTC would have been as popular as it is now if the miners were given GPUs/FPGAs/ASICs and then told they weren't going to be able to use them anymore for mining because someone was scared of them?  Sometimes I wonder if some of you ASIC FUD spreaders were around when FPGAs were first hitting BTC, let alone ASICs.

X11 adds nothing to this coin, and only alienates people like myself who are mining with ASICs.  In fact, I would guess about half, or more, of the hashrate is ASICs.  At any given time, my group can throw about 100-150MH at the coin in ASICs to help secure the chain.  I'm not saying you're going to, but do you honestly want to tell half of the miners, myself included, to kick rocks?
