921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My friend's investment in Bitcoin on: May 12, 2023, 08:59:34 PM
Assuming OP that you have told him all the things you know about Bitcoin, then I would think that your friend knows already what will happen you his money. What he did now and with that $500 capital investment was his choice, he really be thinking that investing in Bitcoin is safe and profitable. You have nothing worried about as you did it right, there is no need to spoon-feed your friend and control his decision, and he should be thankful to you.
But I was worried about having such start-up capital when you are just about to earn $400 per month. He is supposed to start in small amounts and see what will happen. Well, I hope it works well for him.

Does not look good for the Warriors.

Wiggins questionable for Game 6 with rib cartilage fracture

Quote
The Warriors were dealt some tough luck Thursday night, one day before Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Los Angeles Lakers.L

Andrew Wiggins joined the Warriors' injury report with a left costal cartilage fracture, which pertains to one's ribs. The injury isn't uncommon and often results from direct contact to the sternum.

While trying to box out LeBron James with a little over five minutes remaining in the Warriors' Game 5 win Wednesday night, Wiggins grabbed his ribs. If that is when his injury occurred, Wiggins played nearly three more minutes before coach Steve Kerr emptied his bench. In that span, Wiggins also completed a three-point play where he made a hook shot through contact.

Will his performance be affected in Game 6?

I'm just quite curious because the line hasn't moved despite this news coming out. So, I'm thinking maybe it's not a serious injury and might not affect Wiggins' athleticism as a player.

How do you see this report would affect the game?
923  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 12, 2023, 09:11:38 AM
Jalen Brunson was a monster in their last game against the Miami Heat, he scored 38 points he is like entering a phase where he is unbeatable now but surely it will go down to how much he could contribute in the next game, I really think that Jimmy Butler is just fatigue right now and will surely need some rest just a 1 day rest will be enough, making a consecutive win like that is pretty much exhausting,

Consistency is very important. Let's see if they can still be the same team in Game 6, which is a must-win game for them.

The Miami Heat would not want to take this series to Game 7, where they would need to win on the road. Therefore, Miami will surely play harder in Game 6 and make sure they are not outrebounded again, as was the case in Game 5. With that said, I'm betting on Miami this time, especially in the first half, as I believe they will start strong.

As per Coach Chot, learning experience again and no choice but to move forward.

That does seem to be the coach's well-known response whenever the team experiences a loss. Despite calls from fans for his resignation, Coach Chot remains at the helm of the Gilas Pilipinas team. However, let's move past that and concentrate on showing our support for the team in their upcoming games, if there are any left to play. Realistically, We will not win gold this time because we know how desperate the host team is.
925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 12, 2023, 04:04:09 AM
Suns, lol.

What is this? 51:81 at halftime, seriously?

This looks like an exact replica of last season's conference semi finals vs the Mavericks. In that game they were also down 30 at halftime, at home.

In a do or die game you cannot perform like this and not play any defense.
Well, I am glad they are out, being the favourite to win the chip after the KD deal.  Grin
They will lose, but they will have plenty of excuses. It starts with CP3 not being able to play, Ayton being out in a do-or-die game, and they'll probably add that Durant needs to build chemistry with the team first.

Denver deserves to advance 100% and if they keep this up they can go to the finals. Against the Lakers they are 2:2 this season, both teams winning their home games. Against the Warriors they are 3:0. Seems like this season can be the one for the Joker and the Nuggets.

Denver versus the Warriors, it's a great rematch, but we don't know if the Warriors will successfully come back from a 3-2 deficit now. Well, Boston won their game on the road, so it might also be possible for the Warriors.
926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 11, 2023, 02:36:04 AM
Right now, the Heat are on the road of doing a bit of a history.

They're one win away from reaching the Conference Finals. There is only one team who won the Conference Finals as the 8th seed, and that's the Knicks way back 98-99 season. Though they lost in the NBA Finals, they still made history. With how the Heat are playing right now, they're on the road to become the 2nd team to do it. I just don't know if they have the capabilities to win against the winner of the Sixers/Celtics match-up. Overall, the Heat are playing very impressive in this playoffs, defeating the top favorite to win the title which is the Bucks, and now one win away from clinching to the Conference Finals.

The Knicks have been controlling the game due to their big third-quarter run, but we know what the Heat can do. Hopefully, the Knicks won't panic in the fourth quarter as the Heat are slowly inching closer. From a double-digit lead by the Knicks, it's already down to 7 points, and in this situation, the Heat are already used to it since they had a big comeback win against the Bucks in their last game of the series.

85-92 is the score now.

I was surprised to see the Knicks win but I don’t think it will matter much. Now time for the main course. The Lakers have a chance to not only put the Warriors away for the season, but it’s possible tonight might be the night that LeBron James ends the Warriors’ dynasty. I think at best they have one more year together.

The Warriors still haven't been able to dominate in the first quarter. Although they started strong, the Lakers were able to come back and make it a close game. The Warriors' 3-point shooting continues to be their main weapon. If they shoot well, they have a chance to extend this series.

So far, the 3-point shooting comparison is as follows:

Warriors: 56%
Lakers: 25%
927  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 11, 2023, 02:09:00 AM
Welp here we go 2 win or go home series and both home teams against the wall.  I'm going down with the ship with both of them.

Taking the knicls -3.5 at home
Taking the reining Champs golden state warriors but taking the money line on that one.

Enjoy the games and good luck.

Go knicks!!

Congratulations, the Knicks won the game and covered the -3.5 spread. They didn't miss a lot of shots, with Brunson, Barrett, and Randle having a great game. This victory extended the series. The Knicks' huge advantage in this game was their rebounding and their free throw attempts. The Knicks had 38 attempts while the Heat only had 19 attempts.
928  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can I be profitable in the NBA PLAYOFFS? ===>check inside on: May 09, 2023, 09:41:12 AM
Good luck with your experiment mate, hope you can have a profit after the playoffs.

I have not been profitable so far, as I lost two bets today. As a result of these losses, my bankroll has decreased to $275.

Tomorrow, I'll be betting on the Denver Nuggets -6.5 for 2.00 odds. It will be for $100.

Since you still have a balance, your gambling journey isn't over yet. The -6.5 point spread for the Nuggets is quite high, but I like that pick because they're back at home and coming from two losses, so they might come back strong in game 5 and take the lead in the series again. Despite Jokic's recent shoving incident with the Suns owner, he wasn't suspended, so the Nuggets still have a good chance to win this game. Let's hope they'll cover the spread.
929  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamble Responsibly on: May 09, 2023, 09:16:59 AM
The best way to achieve control and responsibility is to set a part a bankroll for every session that you play as I am assuming gambling addiction happens mostly to people who play instant result games like slot machines and alike and stay responsible when this bankroll ends they call it a day and quit.
Indiscipline in gambling can lead to a loss of control and wipe out your bankroll, regardless of the game you're playing. While we all want bigger wins with our small bankroll, the chances of that happening are slim. If we try to be realistic, we know that we will likely lose, and that's where the problem starts if we can't accept the outcome.

The problem is that this cannot be achieved instantly,I have been addicted myself in 2020 and since then I have started applying this methodology little by little until I made it possible,in the beginning weeks no matter how hard I tried I still could not stop, but then with the passing of time I started sometimes stopping and sometimes not until I was able to stop completely when I wanted.
I'm glad to hear that you were able to solve your addiction problem. As for me, I can't say that I've been addicted to gambling, but sometimes I also lose control. However, as we become more mature, we learn how to control our emotions because we understand that it's just part of the game.
930  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Emotion and Trade? on: May 08, 2023, 01:18:12 PM
Thats your strategy and the thing that you arent learning while you are losing , it should be per losses you'll able to know the reason why its a loss, why it goes the other way, reflect on it because it doesn't mean you win or loss in the entry you dont care at all , you should know where on your strategy makes it loss. Basically you just need to improve your strategy as well as understand what the market is giving you like if it is sideways and you strategy is on uptrend so really you'll be losing .
Perhaps, it was like capturing the errors and seeing where we become wrong. But of course, it was not just seeing our mistakes but also considering those things that we earn a profit from and seeing what ways we're doing. It is about comparing all the things we've done and the results as well. This will absolutely help us and give us ideas about what are the things we need to change and what are the things we need to sustain.
But above all, we must also learn how to adjust and correct our mistakes - if that is because of our emotions, then must have to carry them out and control them, otherwise, we can't expect success.
931  Economy / Gambling / Re: How does AI gambling sound? on: May 08, 2023, 11:18:34 AM
Do you think that gambling have a place with the metaverse in the future? I had a dream about being able to gamble online with people that aren't living close to me, we meet in the metaverse and it looks real, I know that sometimes when you think positively about something it is possible to dream about it.

I am well aware of all the hype around AI lately, but I don't personally find the AI + gambling combination attractive. Of course, the general public may like it, but this is certainly not for me.

It does look attractive but in a closer look, AI + gambling = the same result as the normal gambling.  Since gambling has random result, I do not think AI can be taken advantage to produce more chance of winnings.

AI is famous today and maybe they just connect it since they think that maybe there will be a huge chance to win if they apply the AI generated result when betting in a casino.

But for sure all will be in random places so to crazy thoughts for believing on such things since it doesn't have any proof that it really work.

Until now, nobody can show us how it works successfully in gambling. Because I've heard from ChatGPT users that they are appreciating it for helping their office and research jobs but to mention using it in gambling, it was just a sort of experiment. Well, I gonna expect some development and technology enhancement. But for now, still don't have any confidence in this AI and besides, it was not effective when you are in sports betting and much more in pure luck-based games.
932  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A nob in trading needs help on: May 08, 2023, 10:38:44 AM
At this level, I am well informed about Bitcoin and its securities, I have read on the forum how Bitcoin and cryptocurrency trading has changed people's lives, and I am kind of interested in acquiring skills, I have read in many other threads on how risky Bitcoin trading is.

But at this point, I will really like to know whether or not Bitcoin trading is a means to gain profits during market speculations, and how possible it is to make passive income through cryptocurrency trading.
Well, I tell you that it was profitable but take note also that not all who tried trading went successfully, some had also quit because of suffering losses and disappointments. If ever you believe that you are really for this, I encourage you to try then in order to know the reality because you can't assume what happens to others (successful traders) will also happen to you. We never know if you become like those who quit as well. Of course, I don't want to say you thinking negatively but must have to know it as well and know the consequences.
I would say trading is profitable but also it depends on the trader.
933  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never Expect Consistent Winnings From Gambling - A Lesson I Learnt. on: May 08, 2023, 09:06:54 AM
Gambling is not a business, and neither should you ever take it as a day job, in reference to this thread - it is likely impossible to make a consistent winning from gambling, there are day you win, even much more than $100, and there are days you will lose it all, to make a consistent $100 or more every day in gambling is a mirage, wishful thinking that might never happen.
Indeed. Don't quit your day job for the reason you chose gambling as your main source of income believing you can earn each day by winning consistently. Those who think that way don't know how gambling works to be treated as their source to earn. This is the problem of some gamblers who experienced to win decent amount and decided to be a gambler full time.

Gambling is not a job and should not be treated as one. If you want to gamble, do it for fun because it's more satisfying to win if you less expect it.
In fact, we have this gambling for the reason to become one of our sources of income or our main source of income but it was just a sort of entertainment. And deciding to quit a job for this is really a big mistake, I can't really imagine doing this because we know the sentiment in gambling gamble more, lose more and win less.

Honestly, we can't rely on our future in luck as it was impossible to survive and have a comfortable life.
934  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm getting tired of the high fees for gwei on: May 07, 2023, 09:57:19 PM
An alternative approach is to consistently evaluate any cryptocurrency you intend to trade against other blockchains that offer more affordable transaction fees. It's worth noting that other blockchains such as Algorand and Binance Smart Chain also support NFTs, hence it's wise to consider trading on them, particularly when they have comparable or reasonable prices.

as you said, there are other networks that are offering lesser or cheaper fees. check the token if they are supported by these other networks. if not, and you feel you are stuck with eth, one thing you can do is check the eth gas tracker. and right now, the fees are indeed high. but in some instances, they are low. if the op can still wait, why not transfer the token when the gas fees are low?
The last option is to patiently wait otherwise, he'll be paying $10-$30. Upon checking today, I'd never see any changes on its fee, probably this will take so long before it drops again, and just like what it happened to BTC, the fee is badly increasing as well. Actually, this is the first that ever happen as I remember. I see before that the fee went high but that only it takes a few days before it was back to normal. Unfortunately, it is already a week or two where it was consistently high, really disappointing but we have nothing to do with this.
935  Economy / Economics / Re: Investing Addiction. on: May 07, 2023, 09:22:00 PM
In my personal view, if the investment always has a good return for each individual, this is the reason why or maybe an investor develops an addiction. Of course, he experienced a big return on his investment that he probably didn't expect.
Well, addiction is not good but in the case of investment addiction, I would consider this as a different story. It is good if we are addicted to something that gives us more money, whether we are spending it too much but actually, the results are great compared to gambling addiction where our money is flowing out.
Quote
That's why because of that addiction, maybe other investors don't notice that with every investment they lose a lot of capital, they don't see it anymore and they can't think properly because what they always see is the positive. that they will earn from the capital they release.
In this case, this person is not doing his job as an investor because if he does, he would never invest in something that he never know. Because for me, why I should be doing that when the purpose of my investment is to earn money, not lose them.
Maybe this would happen to newbies but this is impossible for old-timers.
936  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: May 07, 2023, 10:39:36 AM

many gambling addicts have lost their minds because their desire to continue gambling overpowers their common sense, hence the importance of "gambling responsibly"

Gambling is a serious addiction that can seriously disrupt a person's mind. Especially when a gambler is constantly facing losses, he develops a strong desire in his mind and becomes restless to gain. If he doesn't have the money to gamble at that moment then he could be involved in a variety of criminal activities like the OP mentioned.
In my country usually gamblers who participate in local system gambling are seen to commit many criminal activities. They get involved in activities ranging from hijacking to buying and selling of contraband. However, such negative activities do not usually occur in the case of professional gamblers and they lead a normal lifestyle.
Pro gamblers are different from usual gamblers but if we talk about addiction, they are all the same and chances are they both commit criminal activities when they badly need money to keep their addiction alive. Because their attention is not on where to get money, they don't care if that is wrong as long as they can get money to sustain their gambling life. If you have said that it happens in your locality, that also happens in some places, in some countries as well. That is what we called _"the curse of gambling addiction" and that is hard to stop.
937  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you stay updated on: May 07, 2023, 09:55:45 AM
Social media is one of the fasted means of gaining updates and what I do most at times is that I subscribe to updates so as soon as the platform's notifier indicates a new update I will quickly get it to keep myself up to date, most especially in football games.
Not really, sometimes Social media got updates from global news that show the match. Except for association sports like UFC and any boxing association. As I know,  they will provide information 1st than another platform if have important news like injury players, cancel fights, or others. So I think OP must know what to do, because they write this thread almost 2 weeks ago, and I read many suggestion was posted. He is not alone, there are many others member that don't know any sport betting, but after joined bitcointalk, he got smart to prediction any bet.

There are also their websites, where they have a news section and a social media section that shows their recent tweets. This is the most reliable source of information, but still, social media is the number one source as they will always post an update, but at the same time, as the OP has a dish, it is also better to watch it so that he is most updated when it comes to injuries, upcoming matches, etc.
It was not a question of how to keep updated but a question is what we gonna do now to become updated. Because it is easier for us to access information online, a simple search online directs us to them. We can find ways if we wanted to do it,- we have this forum, social media, and many others. Just a little effort is enough, as long as we have smartphones and the internet as basic requirements we can have the information needed. Nn fact, it was already possible to place our bet in the public places.
938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How is the chance of $PEPE to become the next $SHIB? on: May 07, 2023, 03:42:40 AM
It is premature to determine the long-term future of PEPE coin based solely on its recent dump. We have seen similar market trends with Shiba and Doge, which eventually resulted in substantial profits for investors. However, it is important to consider whether Binance listed PEPE coin too early.
Maybe you're right but the trust of the community is in doubt in believing the future of this project. We know how many meme coins have died after the hype, countless of them.
Well, the main concern is if that is worth investing this time. I'm not saying it was not but as it was new and a kind of meme coin, something we need to be more cautious with this. Actually, many speculations arise and most of them are not really convinced that it will have a bright future. Investing in this is too risky and it was up to us if we gamble or look for another coin/s.
939  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading or investment! What's your take? on: May 06, 2023, 09:52:18 PM

Over to you investors, they will said trading is rigorous and difficult to navigates through, trading incurs too much losses that's why I prefer to fix my money as investment watch it grow with due time, and if the market falls I can decided to take my money but the good thing is that I don't have to stress myself.

Now over to you reader, which aspect of bitcoin is best or worst experience? Where are you good at! Trading or investment? Bursts our brain with your expertise
You have something to know that trading is too risky and will certainly incur losses as possible if you are not carefully doing this. In fact, even if you have a long experience in trading sometimes you will still lose because there is no exemption in this.

What you gonna do OP is to assess yourselves first if you are really capable enough to trade that is why I encourage you to try to know it. But if you think you're not, I would say holding is the best option. Why? It is not stressful and you could really have some peace of mind, unlike when you are in trading where your decision is very important and too much pressure.
940  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 06, 2023, 11:29:04 AM

The stake odds for this game are 1.65 for the Lakers and 2.31 for the Warriors, right now Mo Bamba, Anthony Davis, and LeBron James are all questionable if they can play for the Lakers, while the Golden State Warriors have Patrick Baldwin Jr. that have a toe injury and are doubtful if he can play for the Warriors well that inconsistency of Anthony Davis was due to Draymond Green guarding him I have watch the full video Draymond Green might not be the best guard for Davis but it is affecting Davis I think the Warriors have exposed the Lakers this time, so my pick is the Golden State Warriors taking the win on game 3,

I will follow the momentum of the Warriors. They dominated the Lakers in game 2 and, even though they will be on the road, I think they are capable of winning as long as Klay continues to have his impressive 3-point shooting. While LeBron and Davis may be questionable, I highly doubt they'll miss this very important game. But for me, it's still all Warriors.
