1161  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chasing losses - Double down bet or Bet twice? on: February 15, 2023, 11:59:19 AM
I always have a dilemma when it comes to chasing losses in gambling. When I’m in the good mood, I preferred betting using the same amount multiple times until I hit a winning streak to recover my lose but when I’m in bad mood, I usually increase my bet size equals to my total lose so that I can recover quickly.

What do you typically do when you are on chasing loss situation?

That's a very bad attitude in gambling. To be successful, you need to maintain consistency so you will not regret it in the end. If you feel you made a mistake, you have to reflect on it and correct that mistake. It's not good to chase your bets, as that's a sign of being an undisciplined gambler, and you know where it will take you based on your experience.

Learning is the KEY!
1162  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 15, 2023, 11:08:43 AM

Here are the results of my bets.
Toronto Raptors - Orlando Magic = Orlando Magic @ 3.40
- Lost. I thought that the Magic can steal one on the road. They manage to take the lead, but loss by double digits.
Milwaukee Bucks - Boston Celtics = Milwaukee Bucks (-7.5) @1.61
- Lost with this bet, but I put a bet during the game with the Bucks winning the game and I won so overall, I won with this game.

I was able to bet on these games, won the Raptors game while losing on the Bucks game. Didn't expect that Celtics will make it a very close game, they almost upset the home team but good thing the game went over, in the OT, it was still the Celtics who had an early lead, but the Bucks did come back to complete a win.

About the Raptors game, on paper, the Magic looks great because they have won their past games, but the actual, Raptors took control of the game in the 2nd half, won, and cover the spread too.

That was a hard decision to bet on the Raptors, their last game, they only won 1 point against the Piston, and then they played the Magic who are a better team than the Pistons, so the expectation is really on the Magic to at least cover the handicap. But yeah, it looks easy on paper but in reality the Raptors did well to cover the spread.
1163  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do casino and sports betting platform owners gamble as much as other people? on: February 13, 2023, 11:36:45 AM
Not as much probably. An owner of a casino or sports betting platform is probably more disciplined in gambling. That's probably why they have come to build their own business. If they are just like the rest of the heavy gamblers, they probably wouldn't have saved enough money to start a business.

If they gamble, they will probably use their own casinos or sports betting platform. Win or lose, they are at least contributing to their business. And it's their own money they are playing and winning or losing. They win or they lose, but the money doesn't come out of their own control.
They might not often gamble or even not but for sure, they also have time to spend at the casino and enjoy themselves. But if we think they are gambling to make money, I guess they're not because they already know what are the results. Besides, they are doing this business for the gamblers. They are not gamblers now but the owner of the casino and I know that they are already happy seeing the people who use their platform.
1164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I invest in new Projects (Need Suggestion) on: February 13, 2023, 10:54:46 AM
Should I invest in new projects? It depends on the nature of the said project, we can invest in them if it can be trusted or somewhat really worth it. As an investor, we also know how to assess the potentiality of the project, it is not because someone says it is good we also believe it and follow what they say but it was our position as well to make a review and make the final decision. But I would tell you that investing in new projects corresponds with high risk and therefore, we should not be easy with them unless we are sure about it.
Most people do not think about the risks, especially if they are tempted after reading one or more offers that contain large returns in a short time. They will not find out more details about the project and directly invest some money. And unfortunately, many immediately use a lot of money to invest even though they don't know whether the project will provide benefits in the future or fail after being released on the market. A wise investor should know his limits and how much money he can invest and should not invest in one project, especially if it is a new project.
Really disappointing and I don't know how to change such things because it was hard to change greedy people from thinking instantly rich.
But I let them do what they think is right (despite it being wrong) because I believe they will somehow change and realized that they are wrong. Some people had just woken up from their wrongdoings after having a bad experience which I think could help them either. They'll somehow notice the importance of being calm and for choosing the right coins.
1165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: February 13, 2023, 07:35:01 AM
Inoue is taking a risk, there is little doubt in my mind this is the case, and we have a very recent example with Canelo, Canelo has a huge punching power on his division, but as soon as he moved up and fought against Bivol his punching power became trivial and Bivol dominated him clearly, now I think of Inoue as a better fighter than Canelo so it is likely he can overcome this, so it is a risk to fight a champion right away but even then I still think he can win.

Inoue taking a risk? Fulton is even the underdog in this match. Inoue can surely handle Fulton. That Canelo's case is different from Inoue's today, Canelo is pushing for a big difference in the environment when he chooses to fight Dmitry Bivol. Just wait and see how Inoue will beat Fulton and unify all other belts at the Super Bantamweight division.

As we speaks, Inoue as a challenger is still the Favorite to win the match.

I believe Canelo was also the favorite when he fought Bivol, but it turns out he was well dominated by the speed and size of a champion. Maybe this fight is quite different as Inoue is the heavy favorite, and I think Inoue is very much comfortable with the new weight class.
1166  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco - May 20 on: February 13, 2023, 07:12:36 AM
Yep, undefeated fighter, has all the belts, then definitely Haney has every right to demand more money from this fight and could be very well the A side as you have said. But probably the question from Loma is, who is going to bring fans to watch this fight? Haney's style is somewhat boring to most boxing fans as he hasn't knockout anyone. While on the other hand, I think Loma has the upper hand as far as fan based goes, his style, his technique in the ring and the quality of opponents he has face before. 60% is doable I think, and it could be a good base line split for this fight.
I agree, the one that should demand is the fighter that could bring more money to the fight, Loma's style is very entertaining, so I guess the fans will be watching that fight especially now that he is the underdog. If Haney will be paired with another defensive fighter, and even if it's a championship fight, for sure it will not satisfy the crowd as it will only end up a boring fight.
1167  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: who would you trust? on: February 13, 2023, 04:07:59 AM
Since strategy are always changing in trading, what is the relevance of experience? Who would you trust the most for trading tips,
An old trader who has had better days and mostly still relevant because they have a strong reputation for the fact that he has been trading for a while, or would you trust a new trader who is hot in the market and fresh with new strategies?
How will I depend on someone's strategy when I have my own, even if my strategy is failing me, the only thing I will do is to work on it and improve it, but I will never use another person's strategy. If you want to stay long in Cryptocurrency, then you should learn to do your analysis yourself and do anything that works for you, don't depend on anyone. The strategy that your friend is using might be hot just as you said, but if I try the same strategy I might be losing money, so don't depend on anybody, learn to do things yourself.
Ideally, trust is somewhat we need upon learning but if we are just talking about relying on a new trader, it seems difficult.
If we have another option, we better ask those who already have a long trading history for they really have the experience and capacity to help us. Instead of asking newbies, we'd rather help ourselves to learn personally for this is the only way. Might working alone is not easy but it is a need to do, there are a lot of online tutorials that could help us and what we need is application to actual trading.
1168  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 12, 2023, 12:00:34 PM
I read from the comments from some people saying we have a "sagip kapamilya" tonight, so that's the reason why Ginebra is not the heavy favorites.

Looks like they are correct, Ginebra are so different in this game, especially Justin Brownlee who does not have attempt based on his average. He just pass the ball and not so aggressive in grabbing a rebounds and defending. This is probably the worst game of Justin Brownlee, he only scored 6 points at the half and all the points are earn in the free throw line.

1169  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 12, 2023, 11:12:44 AM
The bet with the 76ers hit in the end but then I guess it was quite a game to watch, I'd say the Brooklyn are now very underrated by we bettors, that young team are so full of energy and seem better from having KD and Kyrie on the floor, but then perhaps the lack the ability to close out games, but it would have been a very well worthy win if they had won the game.

Not so much for tonight just 2 games and we're all up for the Super Bowl. Memphis Grizzlies vs Boston Celtics should be an interesting game to see before the Super Bowl.

76ers are lucky that the last shot did not count, this game could have gone to OT and we never know what will happen from there.

Thomas is now back to his usual average, but the good thing about the Nets is they have plenty of scorers, this game it was Bridges who led the team with 23 points. I think they will be underdog in most of their games, so if they'll continue to cover the spread, then that should make the bettors profitable.

1171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fake paid promotions on Twitter on: February 12, 2023, 08:40:37 AM
It is very important to always do your own research before committing your resources in any investment project be it promoted by an influencer or not. In the crypto space, some of the influencers may not even be knowledgeable in what they are promoting. At the end of the day, it is the investor that may lose his or her funds. Particularly for those who are new in the crypto space, so far as it is your hard earned money, why not make out time to do proper research?
This is just common sense, but when greed takes over common sense goes out of the window for most traders, and this is because they want to believe they can invest in a coin recommended by an influencer and make some easy money.

But we know what is actually happening, the ones earning money out of those recommendations are the influencers, as many of them do not care at all about what they are promoting and they have no problem accepting money from obvious scams.
And we are already aware of this kind of trick, using the Twitter platform to scam people has been growing fast and it was very unfortunate that they even use the name of known influencers to get attention and gain trust. For most users who don't have any idea or experience of how the scam trick has been set up, it is very likely they fall into this trap. That is why I ignore following Twitter, not even trust someone on social media unless I know that person personally. Research is very important and this is the only way we can get over from getting scams.
1172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How does regulation affect the future of cryptocurrency? on: February 11, 2023, 01:01:05 PM

The regulatory environment can impact the future of cryptocurrency in several ways, including:
...
Limiting market growth: Restrictive regulations can limit market growth by discouraging innovation or limiting access to investment opportunities.

It's important to keep in mind that the regulatory environment for cryptocurrency is constantly evolving, and new developments can have a significant impact on the future of the market.

But I'd never find it hard for our part as an investor because it was not limiting our opportunities but instead, it is made to control hypes projects which is a common reason why some people had to lose their money.
I do agree that it discourages innovations but at least we are able to decrease the number of scam projects in the market. In fact, we don't need more crypto innovations because what we need is the application of those projects that are already created. We can't assume that restrictions will ruin crypto market, we can't just think all about negative but have to wait that time and let us see what really happen.
1173  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When to sell bitcoin before the next bear market starts? on: February 11, 2023, 12:26:15 PM

So if bitcoin's cycles remain true, when roughly would be the start of the next bear market after the 2024 halving and bull run for a good time to sell. Can this be predicted somewhat? For all you TA guys when would be a good time to sell just to give me an idea? Thanks.
Even though the cycle is true but I would say that it never be like before because people do the move first before it happens. We are changing the trend and this will like to change the cycle of the crypto market as well. Sooner or later, we can no longer see the ATH or the bear season but probably all are just normal conditions. What I mean is that the price of Bitcoin will pump in a shorter time and it drop in a shorter time as well.
1174  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 11, 2023, 11:22:24 AM
Like it or not , Irving seems to have fun in Dallas and more than this , in his interview after the game he told something that I didn't see from him for A VERY LONG TIME. " I do mistakes and when I do them , my teammates are there to fix them for them and it's amazing" it's not word by word but 99% he told that and by no means , Sacramento is not an easy team to beat this year and they still did it. Also , when Luka is back from his small injury , I'm curious how they will swap position during in game because Irving also said that he is ready to give his best in order to give his teammates the best options available on the court during the game. Cool
Hopefully he will continue to have that good chemistry with his teammates so there's no problem when it comes to the renewal of his contract. We are all aware that Irving's contract will soon expire, so it's crucial if he will sign with Dallas or not. Seeing Irving enjoying in his new team, that makes me happy because he always seemed to be unsatisfied with the past teams he played with.

Maybe Irving is just observing on what will be the outcome of their run in Dallas since if they go to finals or even win a championship with their current rooster maybe he sign a new contract with this team. Irving likes to win so most provably that this scenario will happen. But if they fail and got a bad drop out of contention maybe he pursue his like to go to Lakers and try to pair up again with Lebron since this is what he like at the first place.

That's a big requirement to satisfy him, well, I hope he will be healthy in the playoffs so he can sure go with that goal. Because without Irving, Dallas may still lose against a tougher team especially the Suns who had Durant already. I'm pretty sure, if the Suns and Dallas will meet again, Suns will surely take a revenge because they were embarrass last playoffs when they lose on their home court via blowout.
1175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 11, 2023, 10:56:25 AM
Next game is up between the Beermen and Converge, hoping here that SMB will cover that 6 points spread  Smiley.
We are on the same page on this one, GL to us.
I also have under 106.5 for Converge.

I'll tail on this pick. SMB did a great job on the Meralco Bolts, so maybe they will do it against the Converge who is a younger team than the Bolts. If the import of SMB were able to limit the import of Meralco, converge should be no exemption here.
1176  Economy / Economics / Re: A steady source of income is a man's bottom line to support his family on: February 10, 2023, 09:34:45 PM
Or better yet, have multiple income streams. Just so you have a backup if you get fired from your job or your main income goes bust.
It would be wiser for us to engage in side jobs so we can be more stable with our finances knowing there are multi sources of income that would generate money for us. So in case of emergency or any sudden incidents that will occur, we will not worry about the expenses knowing we have reserved funds for that. The more jobs we have, still keeping the main job, the more we can live our life stress free.
However, we also need to control our expenses as well because no matter how big we earn in a day or in a month but still spend more than our income, we will still suffer financial problems. Many people had come like this and this will emphasize how important is to have proper budgeting, particularly for expenses.

We can only gain financial freedom if we have plan and budgeting which most of us don't have it. We can't just make this is a word but it should be seriously followed otherwise, we never see any changes in our finances.
1177  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why I will never trust top exchanges on: February 10, 2023, 01:54:14 PM
Whether it was centralized or decentralized exchanges we don't have to store our funds there for long as it was safe if we have full control of funds than relying on these exchanges. Because what happens to FTX and many scam exchanges will serve us a lesson on the risk of putting our money in any exchanges.
I have no say for now for Binance but I think they face some issues as well. I don't encourage people to withdraw their funds from them but we also have to play it safe as it was too painful losing our money because of trust that has been broken.
1178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Nonito Donaire vs Jason Moloney on: February 10, 2023, 02:40:33 AM
For sure whatever happens in the next fight of Donaire, all his decision will be based on that. Whether we want to continue despite a loss, but a win will automatically make him defend that belt.
I don't think it's a good idea to continue if he lose, maybe that depends on how he lose in the fight, if it was a close one and he is not convince that he lose, then most likely he will look for another fight, however, will the promoter still be interested in giving him the fight considering his ranking will drop after another lose?
1179  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: February 10, 2023, 02:13:49 AM
Yes, because if we based on the reality, only few boxers with smaller weights are popular, the only one I know is Inoue and he will become more popular because he is moving up on his weight class. This is definitely the kind of journey Manny Pacman had succeeded in the past, that's why he was the only 8th division champion because he started from smaller weights and increase his weight but still dominate the bigger boxers.

Anyhow, I heard that Inoue is somehow tense about this upcoming fight.  Since this is his first time fighting in the heavier Division and he is worried about his preparation since he doesn't know if his preparation is enough for the fight.

Inoue is still very humble and honest, that's what I like about this guy. He already knows that he is good but he always continues to push his limits. I'm happy that he is not underestimating his next opponent, and with that, we can assure that he'll do his best to give another impressive win.

Quote
Manny Pacquiao could have been a 10 division champion if he didn't skipped 2 division when he decided to go up in weight.
That could have been hard to surpass, even difficult, but Manny did not think at that stage that he'll become an 8th-division world champion.
1180  Economy / Economics / Re: Untouchable Savings: Do you have it? on: February 09, 2023, 09:20:43 PM
Untouchable Saving is a sort of preparation for whatever happens to us like for emergencies and many people are doing this. It is actually we can do this if we wanted to do it and have a plan but in your case OP, I don't think we need to sacrifice our health just to spend less and save some money because it might lead to huge expenses if our health got compromised. We can do savings in the other way, what I did before is to walk from school to our house to save my fair and keep it.

Savings is good but we are also affected by the inflations. It was better to save less but invest more.
