921  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Bitcoin on AUG 1 - Blockchain.info wallet? on: July 30, 2017, 03:33:31 PM

So wait, it is safe for me to keep my BTC on Blockchain.info if I have the xpub, the seed, and the recovery phrase or whatever.. Right?

Based on the explanation he gave that means yes. But for me, I use blcokchain.info as well but towards the days of this hardfork, I had to heed to the suggestions going on the forum because of being prone to attacks and you are not sure if blockchain.info will support any output from such so the best is just to keep it somewhere else. Electrum is a good option though...
922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-e joint refund group on: July 30, 2017, 12:19:18 PM
Hi,

It becomes more and more clear that the take down of BTC-e is an US government action.
As a victim of the US action taking BTC-e site down, I was wondering if there is already some joint usergroup action taken to get our funds back.
I live in the netherlands and I have about 800 LTC and some BTC there and those are MY coins, they are totally LEGAL.

I think it's wise to setup a group that hires a lawyer to give our demands a voice.
My opinion about the situation is that I understand they want to take down the criminal people, but it can not be so that non-criminal users are loosing their money in this.
There is not much info on what the US are planning to do that's makes it more nessesary to get a voice in the proces. If there is no voice it can't be heared.
I think an option is that BTC-e is going online again and you have to indentify yourself in the withdraw action, but that's just my idea.
I'm not willing to take my lose without a fight.
At this moment I have no clue how to set this all in action, but maybe some of you know this and are willing to help.
What's you opinion on this?

Rob

What you are proposing is really a good idea from all indication because of the amount of money involved in the shut down but the issue is how sure are we that they are coming back online because without that there is no way to press for the refund. Also, since its within the control of the US government, how many people will come out even though you don't have anything to hide, to expose to the agency of government considering the several laws you might have broken unknowingly which is even not an excuse in law.
923  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Historic step for the victims of CIA torture. on: July 30, 2017, 08:59:39 AM

This is really serious but the argument they always give is the fact that the end justify the means of their action by keeping the entire populace safe and if going extra mile is what its going to take, then so be it. However, there should be a limit that should be applied to human beings no matter the suspected offence and I think the Senate is really doing something about it in curtailing the extreme measures being taken on humans.
924  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Danish police first in the world to hunt down criminals using bitcoin, afraid??? on: July 29, 2017, 11:20:29 PM
I would say its actually a good one on their part to have gotten to that level and brag about it but they are not the first to do that because I have read convictions that have taken place in the past where the suspect  relied on bitcoin to perpetuate its activities. Its even good for the crypto world for anyone that is planning or using bitcoin for illegal purpose and thinking he is safe and can go ahead without any repercussions, the end is near.
925  Economy / Economics / Re: What must happen so that cryptocurrencies are less volatile? on: July 29, 2017, 09:23:51 PM
What would it take?

Does the volatility settle if certain amount of merchants accept payments in crypto? Or should there be more people that would get paid in crypto? OR should there be a cryptoeconomy where people and businesses get income in crypto and spent the crypto?

Furthermore, could the volatility be even solved? I mean of more and more people are getting into Bitcoin, when would such demand cycle cool down?

I would like to know the economics behind it.

Volatility can never stop because issues after issues will continue to happen to make sure price swings even fiats with all the support and back ups is still volatile which is why Forex is still booming till tomorrow. However, it could be minimized and in the case of bitcoin, the penetration needs to get to a point where large percentage of the population are already involved couple with high market capitalization on a country basis that will make it difficult for an individual or couple of individuals to swing prices in their favor as the only thing that would cause sharp increase or decrease would be major events alone.
926  Economy / Economics / Re: Is trading just educated guessing? on: July 29, 2017, 09:47:02 AM
At some point I was under the illusion that its only an educated guessing but now, I know better that beyond that educated guessing there is more to it which is buying with the right information. When one does is analysis tracing historical records, or market capitalization, volume and other trends that could signal an action to be taken but without doing it intelligently in understanding that those analysis could be artificial as a result of maniupuations then that's worse than gambling.
927  Economy / Economics / Re: Could California make a regulated digital currency? on: July 28, 2017, 05:04:41 PM
Hi guys, I'm kind of new to digital currencies so you guys know more than me about this subject. I'm a follower of the Yes California Calexit facebook group which is a group that wants to separate from the US and become our own country.

The only problem with doing this is that as soon it looks like we are leaving the US the US dollar will plummet in value hurting both us and them so I'm writing an essay on creating a digital currency for California that we could eventually bring the mining to a halt and then give a month grace period for it to settle and then switch it to a printed currency.

It would be regulated - the servers for the wallets and mining pools would all be in California and it would be written in the legal agreement in the mining software that this is the case but everyone in the world could mine or trade it.

It would have an advisory board that would consist of economic experts from California 50%, 30% voted in from our top 10 trading partners, 10% cryptocurrency experts and 10% cyber security experts. This advisory board would issue all the recommended regulations which would then get adopted by whatever agency in California.

I'm trying to piece how all this would come together but I need to know from you if this is possible to regulate a digital currency like this and also which coin should we model it after. Right now I'm thinking we should model it after litecoin because of its speed in transactions and how its block chain doesn't grow at a fast rate like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

To plan something this big, it needs to come from the top because it goes beyond an individual but rather the entire community which might be difficult to penetrate of its not coming from the top considering the fact that its going to be a complete deviation of what people have come to know as their medium of exchange from time immemorial but if its going to be from the state, then the  relevant push can be made available to get the penetration rapid. And concerning regulation, yes its possible depending on how its coded.
928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am against Bitcoin Cash and here is why on: July 28, 2017, 04:03:19 PM
My opposition is not because they are trying to hard fork
not because they are trying to increase the block size to 8 MB and open up many attack vectors.
not because they are effectively centralizing bitcoin.
not because they have the biggest scammer as their speaker.
not because they have been attacking bitcoin and trying to take over for more than 3 years.
...
these are all minor reasons.

the main reason that i am against bitcoinCash is because they are going against the majority. we voted, the nodes, the miners, the businesses, ... and got the majority on the current chain that you see and is called bitcoin.
but you could not accept and did not respect the majority's opinion and still insist on your minority hard fork.

and the worst part is you are going against "satoshi's vision", the very thing you pretend to support. which is a decentralized system that works based on consensus of the majority not what some small group of people want.

and here is a question for you:
you say your proposal is the best, you claim to be the satoshi's vision, and lots more. so why don't you make something from scratch? call it Satoshi's Vistion Coin or SVC for short.
You are not the only one who is against BCC others are equally against it with some school of thought concluding its some set of people wanting to hijack bitcoin, aside that even some release by some exchange site was ''group of small developers'' which I see connotes something. All I can say is the outcome of BCC whether its going to be successful or not is going to be determined by the community. Those who believed in it have their utmost reasons why they are doing so and it then fall back to the issue of which side control the highest population with the highest volume of BTC.
929  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What are the top BTC mixers after Bitmixer? on: July 28, 2017, 02:03:12 PM
bit-blender

[incorrect link]
WARNING.  This is a phishing site imitating bitblender.io.  Do not mix with any links from there.

There are two mixers which I find particularly interesting:

1. Chipmixer - lets you increase anonymity by using "chips" which were created days before you deposited.  The "chips" are actually private keys to Electrum wallets with predetermined amounts.  There are no fees unless you donate or use their gambling feature.

2. JoinMarket - uses CoinJoin transactions to mask who is sending a transaction to who.

3.  This might be subject to high fees and it's not a mixer, but if you want you can use Shapeshift and convert from Bitcoin to an altcoin like Monero, and then back to Bitcoin.  Make sure that you change your IP in between transactions.

Why will I have to go through such stress just because I want to mix my coin when there are reputable sites that would make it seems seamless without any stress even with some with little or no fees like ChipMixer that would give me my private key along with the coin I am mixing. I think that is the best for me for now.

I already reported this site bit-blender.com (phishing site) and i hope i can ask the owner of the blog to remove the site from his blog, of course if he refuses i will assume that he is the owner of the site and i will report his blog to the authorities.

I think that is the best option because it means he/she is an accomplice for anyone who get scammed as a result of that action of his.
930  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Hash Block.net - another scammer??? on: July 28, 2017, 01:39:21 PM
I have put some money on their platform and today I cannot withdraw the profit Sad
Is there anybody here has the same problem? On their official FaceBook page:

https://www.facebook.com/hashblocklimited

All massages are blocked and they don't answer any questions!

Please share

You expect this not to be a scam, I wont blame you and even commend you for the courage shown to come out and warn other users as well. I have been there where I was scammed of my money even after I had read several reviews on facebook about the site paying. Unfortunately, at the time I join was when it scammed which led me to really read about HYIP and conclude that ''ANY SITE THAT PROMISES LARGE AMOUNT OF RETURN WITHIN A LIMITED TIME IS A SCAM'' and there is no two way to this.
931  Economy / Marketplace / Re: BTC AND ETH ON TOR? on: July 28, 2017, 12:59:29 PM
It seems OP is not clear on exactly what he wanted because even those who are not willing to stay anonymous by using Google chrome or Internet explorer and other browsers available have not been able to get free BTC or ETH without hard work but he wants to stay anonymouns and the same time earn free btc and also does not want to engage in anything illegal. This is a contradictory position in my opinion. If you have anything to offer on deepweb go for it but I am not sure those people here are santas distributing ETH or BTC for free.
932  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next week, is that the last chance? on: July 28, 2017, 11:47:50 AM
People are wondering, the last week of July is the deciding whether you want to make a big profit, or you'll just miss it. For myself, I intend to sell some of my cryptoss, and hope to get a good entry point, but on the other hand I feel that last week's downtrend is the last one of this month, what do you think?

There will always be opportunity for anyone who is ready to come into crypto and for the fact that we have a crash due to the upcoming hardfork, does not mean that there wont be any issue that would cause any fall in price in the future. It will always happen and that is the way of bitcoin until where there is massive adoption where the changes is not really much, there will still be a situation of downwards that will create an opportunity for entry in other to make much profit.
933  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stolen BTC(e)'s using mixer to laundry on: July 28, 2017, 10:24:47 AM
It seems Btc-e hacked and hackers erasing traces.
here is a proof : https://blockchain.info/address/18f1yugoAJuXcHAbsuRVLQC9TezJ6iVRLp

its really interesting that meanwhile bitmixer announced that they shut off.

Total of 66k BTC stolen.
will see btc price will crash soon.

Unfortunately, rather than bitcoin price to drop, we are seeing a gradual improvement in price which is something I see as a good sign to the crypto-world. I think the blame you not be on the mixing services as you connoting here because they are offering their services and it is the duty of the administrators of the sites to keep such safe in the first place and everything about the mixing of coins is not about stolen coins as some individuals prefer to stay below the radar.
934  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC upto 5000$!! on: July 28, 2017, 09:22:00 AM
These are just mere speculations with nothing to back it up and a further testimony that I can just sleep and wake and wish bitcoin price has risen to $10000 and boom it does not happen because its a mere wish which is not bound to happen and this is exactly what OP is doing. Anyone who is sure its going to happen should do something in his own capacity to push for it and wait for it to happen.
935  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Capitalism Flawed? on: July 28, 2017, 07:27:01 AM
Is Capitalism flawed? I used to believe that Capitalism solves issues, but if I really look around me, it actually only creates more issues that were not here before.

> There are many rich people with tons of capital but there are more unemployed people that will not have access to that

> People are living in luxury mansions and driving very expensive car, and then kids are starving in other places

> Profits of companies is going up, but real wages going down, people are living paycheck to paycheck

> Everyone is in debt, nobody has any savings, and most people are working part time jobs

> Nobody has a house, nobody can afford one, yet real estate speculators own thousands of them

> Banks have trillions of $ of money, but they still charge you 50$ / transaction because of their greed

> People have no future prospects, no career opportunity, they just live from paycheck to paycheck trying to pay off the debt and buy some shit GMO food filled with poison, because why sell healthy food to the public when the GMO food is more profitable?

It looks to me like Capitalism is flawed. Nobody has any money and everyone is suffering. I think a universal income must be implemented as fast as possible.

Capitalism is definitely flawed so also is socialism or communism and every other forms of economic system we have in this world but when it comes to capitalism one factor that I prefer it over other forms is based on the fact to believe in individual ability that if you determined to change your status, there are routes to go about it and seizing opportunity that comes at the right time in which if you are lucky you can amass as much wealth as possible and be a force to reckon with in the society.
936  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How to be contented on what you have? on: July 27, 2017, 08:46:50 PM
As I observed myself it looks like I never stop on planning to buy new things that I dont have yet.

There is nothing wrong in being optimistic and wanting the good things of life and in fact, its the best thing to do because I won't want to associate with anyone who is comfortable with the life of penury but the difference is what are the length you willing to go to achieve such objective and that's is what differentiate contentment with desperation. In dreaming and wishing, one should always try to work hard and also draw a line that will not be crossed when it comes to morality.
937  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 54yo woman attacked by somali migrant for walking her dogs on: July 27, 2017, 06:43:03 PM
This issue is a serious one coming from the religious side, there is need for tolerance no matter how bad it in which in this case it's not something that demand an attack not to talk of coming from a Migrant who by default does not have any right in the country of host a d these are some of the reasons why government take actions but there are always protest. Thd attacker should be punished and even the asylum status should be revoked which is deserving but the effect on innocent migrants is also  a call for concern.
938  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bully Problem on: July 27, 2017, 05:14:54 PM
Help me guys, I want to get rid of my bully friends but they are my true friends. A while ago I almost cried, my feelings got hurt again they were bullying me and they involved my parents.

If they are truly your friends they  won't bully you rather they would fight for you. True friends are like family who protect each other against any adversary. They are loyal beyond any length and won't do anything to hurt each other. What they are, are just acquaintances and nothing more because they put their feelings of pleasure above your feeling of pain. Don't also forget, nobody is irreplaceable in anyone's life.
939  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What do you think about terrorism?..I mean, will it ever end? on: July 27, 2017, 04:57:33 PM
Terrorism is something that will never end and there are several reasons to support that.

1. What the terrorists believes they are fighting for is something fundamental and mostly have religious connotations that even trace back to our very own existence.

2. The conglomerate and world powers that benefit from the fall out of the terrorists activities are nightly who won't want it to end or else they go out of business.

3. Government will want to conintue to use that as an excuse to control every aspects of our lives in the guise of security thereby would not want it to end among several other reasons.
940  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Seriously, smartphones will die within 10 years. on: July 27, 2017, 04:33:42 PM
Rather than smart phones during, it would see unprecedented improvements more than what we see today. Over the advent of smart phones, a lot of improvement have happened and I don't see any going back on that. Even companies who are so much focused in the past were left behind. It simply means the world has gone beyond that and we are no longer going back there its a phase that has pass. In the future if not currently happen now, I see more advancement where my phone will be my personal AI that would even made life more easier.
