941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 08, 2014, 07:12:39 PM
Hi all

The advent of trustless mixing in Rev 2 is, of course, a major landmark in the history of cryptocurrency.

But we have another surprise for you today. You'll be very happy to know that secure private messaging has in fact been completed for some time, and around the end of this week we will invite the community to begin testing it!

Secure private messaging represents the beginnings of Bitcoin 2.0 technology, as it extends its functionality beyond that of merely processing payments. When the foundation of XC's architecture - the Rev 1 Xnode - was being built, it was necessary for its broadcasting system to be encrypted to prevent snooping on transactions. And since an encrypted communication system is at the heart of an xnode, it's straightforward enough to exapt it for users to communicate. This, in brief, is how secure private messaging works in XC.

Secure private messaging is not Rev 2. The test build we will release does not have trustless mixing in it. (After all, when you're testing for something, it makes little sense to combine a second unknown into the equation.) The two will be merged when testing on both is complete.

Secure private messaging will not affect our schedule to bring Rev 2 onto the mainnet, as it's completed already.

We need a testing team. If you'd like to try out XC's very, very private messaging, download it around the end of the week and give it a shot. We can't wait to give you a chance to play around with it.

Lastly, as a little surprise, we’re proud to unveil XC’s promotional video!

This is the best crypto video I have ever seen.

There's been less FUD this time around with this upswing. I think that joint statement from the XC and DRK devs calmed things down a lot. I checked the DRK topic a couple of times and I haven't seen anything out of line in there either.

That said I've barely been reading here the last few days, so I could easily have missed a FUD war lol

Hi all

Just to let you know that pratico has now sent me his first $500 donation for the paid Rev 2 press release!

You can confirm the payment here: 19G6JSgvGDHeeRwJDuZhpeXUMMiQP2X3oc

I then exchanged it for USD and sent it to the MasterCard that will pay for the release. The transfer fee was 3% and so the resulting amount in USD is $486.87.

I'll use driv3n's $100 donation to cover the outstanding amount (which is what I did for the previous press release). Thanks again Driv3n!

An enormous thanks to pratico for such a substantial contribution toward sending XC moonward.

Hurrah!

Remember that if the community donates a total of $500 for a paid release for Rev 2.5, then pratico will donate ANOTHER $500!

We're not too far off the target. By all means, donate $20, or whatever you see fit, and let's put XC into the mainstream.

Here's the idea:

- buy XC

- have some money left over to donate to XC's PR

- watch the donation make your trade go to the moon

I couldn't care less what the dev does with the pre-mine so long as the project delivers, which it has been doing.

I highly doubt a programmer of Dan's caliber and real world experience would be working his ass off for this coin if there wasn't a pre-mine.
945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 05, 2014, 11:43:17 PM
Ok, im srsly just asking this right here right now in the open:

-1)sell all vootcoin

2)purchase XC all in

3)Monday

4)profit?

-Sell half voot for XC

-Or w8 for vootcoin to enter mintpal, sell, then purchase XC

I have already made good voot profit(I actually like the coin a lot), but XC is all that matters right now. TBH, the question is more like whether mintpal is going to add VOOT before REV2 is released in Monday. Thats the problem.

The question is, which price will change more (%) in the next 1-3 days.  My bet would be XC.

yeah yeah thats my thought exactly I just got to the bottom of this: if rev2 is released before mintpal adds voots XC is gonna skyrocket for sure, then its going to be diff to buy XC with my profit anyway. But if mintpal adds voot, its going to skyrocket more than pre-rev2 XC accumulation. I have made a very, very good trading week, and I want max profit. This very decision could mean I either purchase(or lose) perhaps double the XC profit. Its a win/win senario, albeit the win one is like a big fat golden piggy.

I've noticed that even good coins don't always skyrocket when they hit Mintpal now.

In fact it seems like the more people expect a new listed coin on Mintpal to skyrocket, it doesn't because it's already been priced in (e.g. Monero).

XC just going from strength to strength in terms of price.

Yet, one look at the market cap on coinmarketcap.com and you realise it's still peanuts.

I think I take the MC of what was said earlier a week or so ago.... being around .3 per would be just freakin awesome.... I wonder if it could hit that.

If all goes to plan I see us reaching NXT's market cap in the coming months.

The interesting thing is that the rise from 12 to 20 in the last few days has happened on low trading volume. That suggests a lack of dumpers i.e. lots of holders believe in this coin. I look forward to how high we will go once a real pump starts in terms of trading volume.

Synch, has this been distributed via a paid for press release service?

If not I would like to pledge $500 in BTC for a paid press release that gets delivered to premium financial sites like Wall Street Journal, yahoo finance etc. I know a service that will hit a ton of top sites and get lots of indexing on search engines like google and yahoo.

In the press release we can also embed images and file attachments like pdfs and even a video if we want. We can also link to the a news section of the XC site so people can keep informed (lots of people won't know about bitcointalk).

We haven't got to rush this and can spend time preparing it carefully.

I will cover the cost of the release and send you the BTC in advance. In terms of constructing the release and the content I will leave that to you and the rest of the XC team. I am impressed with how you put everything across. We may need to "dumb it down" slightly though, so it doesn't go too far over everyone's heads. My only input is that in the article we make a small comparison at some point to Bitcoin (something a lot of people know) and highlight the strength of proof of stake, XC anonymity etc. Comparing to things the public know already will be a fruitful approach.

I will discuss the company I would like us to use and anything else over PM.

Please message me.  Wink

Hi all

Just to let you know that Mr_Random's very generous donation for a press release is going toward a paid campaign by PRWeb this week.

If you'd like to increase its impact, feel free to donate BTC to 15wMLApFR6Xyxn5QtvHtMy9GSWuTY231oU.

Here's to making XC a household name,

Arlyn

I was just about to ask what the plan was for mr. randoms donation, good to see we're about to turn up the heat and get the word out.

I'll donate $100 more, logging into coinbase now.

Lets get the party started.

Received. Thank you!

The $500 has been sent just now. I notified Arlyn just a minute ago via email.

The PR service we are using will be aimed specifically at the financial sector.

I am not expecting an immediate big pump off this. My goal is to increase the exposure of XC beyond the tiny niche of the alternative crypto currency community. The benefits of broader XC exposure will be gradual and sustained. And I believe financially oriented individuals will be receptive towards a promising BTC alternative which is still very cheap.

As for the tiny price fall... markets can be irrational. I truly believe this coin will reach the current NXT market cap in the next 6 months. It's simply too good not to and has too much going for it both in terms of technical development and the XC team.

I also agree, but that's a one sided arguement you're making mwalshe. Darkcoin's thread is not moderated and it's also berailed with XC trolls coming here...

Lets not be naive here, at present the DRK community is considerably larger than the XC community. If 1% of DRK posters decide to troll XC it has a much greater effect than 1% of XC posters trolling DRK.

The official XC topic was reluctantly made moderated since the FUD and attacks were literally relentless and on every single page.

Let's see what this peace agreement brings. I am backing it 100% and won't be posting in the DRK topic (which is v rare for me anyway).

DRK and XC Communities,

The toxic back and forth between our two communities has reached a level with which neither of us are comfortable or impressed.  The competitive space for our coins lies in the results, and the results will speak for themselves as they are brought online.  Whatever mistakes or provocations were undertaken by either side are in the past, and we would like them to remain there.  We are all interested in one thing: the advancement of anonymous cryptocurrency.   Let go of the tribalism and start thinking of how you can positively contribute to that end.

Evan & Dan

Nice post.

Brilliantrocket, Propulsion, stealth923, tsuki, AlexGR, Chaeplin and the others who constantly bash us, plz take note.

Interesting post from the AMA:

Q:
Quote
I guess I'm curious how many full time coders XC has? Is it only atcsecure and jasinlee right now? So, 2?
And, are any steps being taken to recruit coders? (I am assuming the more coders, the better)
**edit - I guess I meant coders working full-time on wallet tech (ie- REV2 / REV3 / EM / etc)

A:
Quote
Well it depends how you define coders. If you are talking about full time core development then 5. However there is also coders working on other projects like multipool, i'm working on merch store in spare time etc

To further break this down: 2 on Xnode, 2 on EMs/Ec and 1 on QT.
952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] X11/PoS/Privacy on: June 26, 2014, 10:38:43 PM
So the Rev2 release date is 7/7/2014. That's slightly less than 2 weeks time! Great news...
953  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] X11/PoS/Privacy on: June 25, 2014, 09:54:06 PM
A pdf looks always a bit scammy. Any chance that we can have a youtube video which shows this stick in action?

We are established enough to a point where we don't have to do this kind of thing. Secondly, The iso will soon be available for download so you can test yourself.

Couldn't agree more.

XC has done tons to prove credibility. Lead developer identity is well known, early parts of the code were shared with other devs for peer review to prove it's authentic, XC dev has attended a conference and perhaps most importantly, the XC team have delivered consistently and without fail. Trust me, in the murky world of alt crypto currencies, that is almost unheard of.

Can someone please remind me of the daemon console command that shows the debug info (what block height it's on).

It finally came back to my memory today.

It's set_log n where n is a number eg 1.

This command should be put in the list of commands that appear when you type help.
955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] X11/PoS/Privacy on: June 25, 2014, 08:55:44 PM
All this time i have been calling it XCoin and it's actually XCurrency  Cheesy
956  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] X11/PoS/Privacy on: June 25, 2014, 07:12:01 PM
at the first rise of the price, people buy and after a while the double amount of people start to sell their coin.
In 2 minutes I see it going from 135k to 140k, and now back to 135.
Stop sell damn it.

Dude, volume is like 50 to 100 btc, we are about to see thousands of incoming btc.. Don't worry.. If idiots want to sell here, let them

+1. I've seen so many weak coins get pumped in the last month.

Whereas this coin has literally amazing developments every single week. Hands down it's the most undervalued coin out there right now. The pumping potential is huge.

The fact the price has been below 0.003 for so long is a complete joke and we are long overdue a massive upwards correction... and I think this could be the spark to set the ignition going.

Ladies and gents, we are very proud to announce the XC TOR Stick!

Yes, XC now has TOR to obfuscate your IP address. Privacy just got even more private.

And XC is now ultraportable.

Press release:

Amazing.

Please put something like "TOR Stick" temporarily in the topic title! I'm sure we'll get lots of new forum members clicking on the topic if they see that.

He's been at a conference for several days.

Don't be surprised if his next update is simply he is still working on rev 2. I assume this guy is a human and needs breaks occasionally.

I don't remember but if you type "help" into the console it should say.

I've tried that already unfortunately and cannot find it on the list.
