981  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 77% into the next Bitcoin halving on: May 31, 2023, 05:26:01 PM
We may be 77% of the way to the next halving, but we're about 50% away from the next price bubble.
It's 2023, I think it's a bit old to call Bitcoin price appreciations a bubble.
A bubble in economics is an irrational increase in the price of a product, far above its intrinsic value, after which it crashes down when the demand wanes. This happened with the the tulip mania and also the housing bubble.

Bitcoin was mis-characterised to be in a bubble during the 2017 bull run due to general ignorance around it, we're five years from that now and the current price is higher than the bubble price of that cycle.
982  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dad's retirement money is invested in Bitcoin! on: May 31, 2023, 05:20:25 PM
But one thing I've been wondering for a few days is if I invest half of my father's retirement allowance in Bitcoin, am I doing something wrong?
I feel like if I invest half the amount in Bitcoin for a year after receiving his retirement allowance, I might be able to hand over more money to my dad at the end of the year.
• The first rule of investing is not to stake what you cannot afford to lose. From your thread, your dad and the rest of the family are heavily dependent on the pension, putting that into a volatile asset is a risk, one you have to think long and hard before making.

• One year is a relatively short space of time. If you're going to invest in Bitcoin in the hopes of getting a return within a short period of time, you could very well be disappointed. Life situations can also come up before then that would require you to liquidate earlier.
There is also the flip side where Bitcoin rises significantly within that period and you actually can give him more money.
Consider the risk to reward ratio before making your suggestion.

Using spare money to buy Bitcoin gives you the liberty to easily wait through price dips and not panic sell.
983  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best open source hardware wallets for BTC? on: May 31, 2023, 05:12:06 PM
Ledger is a good hardware wallet.
But it's not. With the whole obscurity about how they encryp your seedphrase to be able to recover your private keys should you get a new ledger device, it's best to go for the better, more transparent alternatives.

This is also not the first time ledger wallet has come under scrutiny, there have bee data breaches in the past that exposed its users to personalized scams. They also did not reveal the hack early enough but waited about a month before reporting on the hack, not giving their users a heads up to change their personal details on other platforms.
984  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why Bitcoin is Future? How I'm invest and earn from it on: May 31, 2023, 05:49:12 AM
What are the benefits of using bitcointalk?
Bitcointalk has a repertoire of information related to Bitcoin, it's origin, technology, the economics behind it and also topics on the crypto world in general.
You have access to all of these information if you can access the forum as a guest or a user. The benefit of being a guest is that you got to ask questions and get answers to your specific inquiry.

Is this only for Bitcoin investment persons only?
No, it's for anyone interested in talking about Bitcoin with strangers.

As I know bitcoin and Digital currency are the Future. So how do I invest in Bitcoin and how to earn from it?
The simple way is to buy, hodl and wait for it to rise against fiat. You can also invest in a Bitcoin business like a Bitcoin ATM or wallet service. Bitcoin mining and trading are also ways to earn.

986  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Satoshi is a saint on: May 30, 2023, 09:38:24 PM
I recently just took some basic knowledge about crypto currencies and Defi that was when I actually acknowledged the fact
The DeFi space is nothing close to the vision that Satoshi had, it's just a cash cow for scammers. Same can be said for other cryptocurrencies.
If you want to thank Satoshi, avoid centralized altcoins and centralized exchanges. Use BTC
987  Economy / Economics / Re: UAE is the biggest gold buyer of Russia during this war on: May 30, 2023, 06:11:47 PM
if the poor countries go to buy something, they are harassed and banned in various restrictions. Don't you think this policy is cruel to poor countries?
Poorer countries have no bargaining power and as such other nations do not have to be cautious when dealing with them.
The actions of the world powers towards Russia since the start of the war shows how fearful they are of antagonizing the Kremlin and entering a war with them. They would call out nation's like UAE but some European countries are still struggling to cut of Russian products fully.

I can confirm this from Reuters and it's so disheartening to me as it shows that the world doesn't seem to align in one voice against a tyrannical country like Russia that invaded a sovereign state. I can't just see any justification for that, and of which many souls have avoidably lost just because tyranny is hungry for power.
The world powers we're at some point empowered by the spoils of war, which have positioned them where they are today. It is a question of morality, but wars in many countries today are one way or the other enriching other countries. The world has never been United, it has always been a game of interests.
988  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to make first buck in crypto without investment? on: May 30, 2023, 05:58:09 PM
Yeah games and round would be useful thread, but I would recommended the bounty on altcoin season most of the user has dozen of follower on social media and those can be helpful and newbie is allowed to join.
Many of the coins and tokens offered as bounty for the social media tasks are worthless or would be by the time they hit the exchanges, many of the users who participate never even get the worthless tokens and never get the opportunity to try and sell them, plus you put your social information on the forum which erodes your privacy and exposes you to scam attacks depending on how much information you give out.

It's an net negative activity. I would not advice those new in crypto to go down the path of bounties.
989  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today I Have Shared About The Benefits Of Bitcoin With My Friends on: May 29, 2023, 09:12:14 PM
If you use non custodial wallet then your funds have no access without you.
With a non custodial wallet there is no access without the private keys to the wallet. No wallet is fully safe or secure, you need to adopt safety habits which would protect your funds.

. Anonymous Transection: Every Bitcoin transection are normally fast and anonymous
Bitcoin transactions are pseudo anonymous, meaning there is a known address, transaction amount and receptient(s), but no identity linked to the wallet.

I also told about it's volatility but assured them if you buy at cheap at the end of the day you will win surely.
You can only assure that the Bitcoin code is verified and it truly is decentralized. There are no guarantees with the price.
990  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC transaction confirmed but the amount havent changed on: May 28, 2023, 08:22:59 PM
I'm going to use Electrum. I already use my wallet on a mobile device that remains offline 24 hours a day, I only use it to transact.
You could very well just switch to electrum. Trust wallet is closed source so you cannot verify what goes on behind the codes on the wallet.

If your wallet is offline all day, I hope you do not connect to the internet when you want to transact? Instead of doing that, have another watching-only which you can use to create and broadcast transaywjile your private keys stays secured offline.
991  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: dark theme on: May 28, 2023, 08:08:10 PM
Kiwi browser can do the job for installing plugins such as BPIP.org or stylish extension to customized the theme of the forum.
Stylish extension was at some point pulled from the shelves of some vrowsersncause it was allegedly a spyware which steals user information. This is a risk with any extension out there, especially those offered by Google or other privacy intrusive platforms.

If you can't find any you trust, then it's not worth the risk to use a potentially harmful extension to achieve dark mode on your device.
992  Other / Meta / Re: How are the rules on "link dumps"? Should this be forbidden? on: May 27, 2023, 08:55:43 PM
I doubt.
[1.] He is looking to increase his activities
[2.] Is trying to get some backlinks.
Posting with the sole purpose of increasing your activity or to improve the search ranking for a website (paid service or not) counts as spam. The user is putting no effort whatsoever into the posts made and does not contribute to the discussion after that.

Let's not restrict the newbies too much. They already have many restrictions. It's better to report if something looks odd.
Making it a rule does not means users that violate it would be banned, it would just make a clear rule about it that someone reporting can use as a reference. The users would be corrected of their mistakes early and not down what to do and what not to do.
993  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 1xbit deposit (11,564 USD LOST) 3k who can help me on: May 27, 2023, 08:28:23 PM
Despite the warning, they could retrieve the funds sent to a different network pretty easily, they would just need a wallet address that supports both networks, this is evident from the fact that they just moved the funds.

You are dealing with a scan platform so expecting any help from them would not be forthcoming, try reaching out to binance it they they can be of any assistance.

Going forward it would be best to not have over $10k on a centralized exchange or to use platforms like 1xBit.
994  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: At How Much Price You First Saw The Bitcoin? on: May 27, 2023, 08:12:09 PM
Not a significant amount, it was probably in the range of $8,000 to &$9,000 at about early 2018 and I was just learning about how it hit what was then a very remarkable price of almost $20,000. I still had to do a lot of learning during the period and wade through a couple of altcoins before starting to stack up sats.

The cheapest I've seen Bitcoin is a little over $3,000 as at late 2018. This just goes to put into perspective how changes in price affects the sentiment towards the market. At that time $3k was the bear period and now $30k is a bear period.
995  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: learn Bitcoin in bits. on: May 26, 2023, 08:55:26 PM
All through my life I have used centralized exchanges where I did all levels of KYC but o_e_l_e_o pointed me to Bisq and I have downloaded it and start running it on my computer. They use 2-2 segwit between the buyer and seller and then uses timelock transaction to lead the transaction to Bisq DAO.
You again here was confusing a multi signature wallet with a segwit address. As you can see in the quoted message from Leo, Busq uses a 2-of-2 multi sig wallet with each pair of the key held by both parties involved in the trade, completely eliminating any intermediary, making the transaction Peer to peer.
996  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is Bitcoin always in a state of BULL RUN on: May 26, 2023, 08:49:12 PM
Bitcoin operates in cycles, for a cycle to occur there has to be up periods and the down periods to complete the ring, this is the reflection of the Bitcoin market. We have periods of price spike where the chart is in the green zone and the general sentiment is very optimistic, this is the Bull run. We also have the down periods where the chart is mostly red and fear and panic is wide spread, this is the bear market.

In economics both of this seasons complement each other, bear markets are needed tmfor consolidation and price stability as a constant rise is not feasible for any product. So, to answer your question; bitcoin is not always in a bull run.
997  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dubai to construct the world's first bitcoin tower on: May 26, 2023, 05:08:13 AM
Congratulations Bitcoin! Keep making giant strides and attaining greater heights.
Congratulations to Dubai and the entire UAE instead, for positioning itself to benefit from Bitcoin in the future. The more receptive a country is towards new innovations like Bitcoin the more the best minds and businesses would move over there. United Arab Emirates is looking to want to be a technology hub in the future, sort of the Silicon valley of the Middle East.

I hope the design which created by the architecture will not become really different when civil engineer want to start construction because it's not easy for civil engineer to make sure such design is strong and not harm the other buildings.
Far more complex buildings have been designed and built.
998  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Fiat - the Difference That no One Talks About on: May 25, 2023, 07:43:07 PM
“Decentralization”, “security” and “scarcity” cannot help members to get resources back. These are just pointless features of the system and its units.
This was the point where the entire text completely derailed. If you feel that these are pointless features, you shouldn't be interested in bicoin at all, or be on a forum to discuss about it.
999  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A good way to help our children. on: May 25, 2023, 05:59:15 PM
Financial education is one way to help prepare your kids for the future, and it involves a whole lot more than just Bitcoin. Train your kids to understand how money works including fiat, gold, crypto or any other medium of exchange. If they understand the different financial markets they would be able to know how to profit from it and avoid losses.

If you're going to teach your kids about Bitcoin, do not focus on the price and exchange activities. The utility of Bitcoin would be more in demand in the future than now and knowing the basics of how it works would be useful to them.
