Stop scaring me pls.

Exactly. Knowing the 12 words but not the order implies only ~29 bits of entropy between an attacker and your key.

How would an attacker ever gain access to the words but not the order?

You guys got the 12 word seed thing part wrong.

Short version:
12 words is like 128 bits (2048^12 = 2^132)
24 words is like 256 bits

Long version:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Seed_phrase
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/6twuj1/are_12word_seeds_for_bitcoin_private_keys_secure/

That's total entropy where you have no information about the key, but we're starting from a position where we already know the fragments and just need the order - a grossly reduced search space.

Exactly. Knowing the 12 words but not the order implies only ~29 bits of entropy between an attacker and your key.

A two-tier market for bitcoin: clean and dirty. Of course, clean trades at a premium. And the best clean is in someone else's custody. Someone else's keys, but your bitcoin. Neat, uh?  Roll Eyes

So guys, how does the heatwave in Europe affect BTC price?
minimally. but do you think it does somewhat? why then?
I was looking at historical snapshots and noticed what may either be a trend or simply coincidence since BTC price is so volatile.
During the heatwave last year (21-28 July), BTC dropped more than 1000Usd. Same thing happened during the heatwave in 2018.
I am referring here strictly to Europe.

Coincidence.
Get enough data sets and you can come up with all sorts of weird correlations.
To repeat the old adage....Correlation is not causation.

Not causation, agreed. It's still correlation though. If so, one could be used as a predictor for the other - even without a hint to the actual cause(s).

TBH, I'm not really impressed with the volume so far. I know this isn't going to be a popular opinion, but it feels as if a single entity (or a small whale group) controls everything in the market float from ~$10,5k to $12k. And it looks as if their mega pump hasn't really attracted other whale traders at this point.

We could have retracement soonish. Prepare to BTFD.
I'm ready to buy a tidy chunk of physical. Come on baby, drop if you will... or go straight to 12k and stay up there before shooting up some more.

Haven't been hearing much about your leveraged trading recently, d_eddie?

You don't got time for that?

Or are you just not sharing with us?

You gave it up for lent?
I'm just not trading right now. When I have something to share, I will Smiley

JJG, I’ll be 35 by the time the supposed parabolic rise starts. I’d be more angry at myself for selling nothing at around $70,000 if we collapsed from there than I would be if I sold 75% before we get to $100,000 only to see us touch something ridiculously high like $200,000.

I took nothing during the last bull & these 4-5 years have been tough. I refuse to sit through another cycle without taking big money out.

You got a point here. It's all about balancing Donald Duck and Gollum.

I am now running my own block explorer that explores my own node.

Feel free to use it if you like.

That is pretty awesome, did you do it all by yourself or is there a guide or something?

I'd love to brag, but it's just an optional bit of kit included with the Raspiblitz.

https://github.com/rootzoll/raspiblitz

Bitcoin nodes are pretty easy to set up though, and so is this block explorer... lightning is a little trickier still.  I have done both from scratch.  Getting lightning running the first time was one of the fiddlier things I have ever set up. I find Raspiblitz to be a pretty solid project.

I've had a node running on plain Ubuntu desktop for years already. I tried to set up a lightning node, but it was a complicated business, so I gave it up until easier setup packages would become available. I've also had a node running on a PI3 - no external hard drive, just a USB stick - but as you can imagine mass storage size/speed was an insurmountable issue. I guess the PI4 is quite different. Can you tell us more about your experience - I mean additional storage, software setup tips etc.?

$13,000 by the end of the week? What odds are you giving me on that, hey?

Wink

13k are quite possible IMHO. I'd say ~35% likely. For JJG, I'd say 35.10332%

But I actually care more about a good rock-solid 12k than a flimsy 13k. Slow and steady wins the race Wink
