1361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: we don't have proper education on bitcoin. on: April 15, 2023, 03:22:24 PM
Please correct me if I am wrong
Even in today's modern world, except for a few people in Europe-America, the general public of the entire world does not have a proper understanding of Bitcoin. Sad Sad Except European-American, anyone who have a little idea about Bitcoin also have misconceptions. Due to this problem, many people are unable to invest in a great platform like Bitcoin even if they want to. This problem may not seem like a big deal to many, but think about third world countries. A sad reality is, in my country 80-90% of the population are not familiar with Bitcoin.
Is there any way to solve this problem?

I think that the problem will solve itself out in the near future as Bitcoin becomes more and more adopted. Although I would prefer to see it all happen a bit faster, personally.

Right now we are in the early times when people who do self-research on Bitcoin and then invest in Bitcoin are the ones who will be majorly rewarded in the long term before everyone else catches up. The earliest adopters already have proven this. Although back in 2009-2012 Bitcoin was a very niche thing and not everyone had heard of it, so its understandable that not everyone had the chance to know about it.

Nobody will be allowed to make the excuse of why they did not research and invest in 2023, though...
1362  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: cashout money on: April 14, 2023, 05:51:14 PM
hello is it possible to cashout money  without being the owner  without having documents to proof you are the owner  and when the account is frozen?

only thing i have is that payment method that was used  was mine and the cashout would go towards that account

I think that is a very strange question to ask, especially after taking a look at your negative red reputation left by trustworthy members of the Bitcointalk community. One even accuses you of "selling personal ID documents of other people". Why exactly do you want to cash out money without being the owner of the documents you gave the (I assume) gambling casino? Is it because you faked your KYC and now are trying to withdraw without getting caught and your money confiscated?

This thread is a red flag.
1363  Economy / Economics / Re: Does anyone notice the "investment cost" ? on: April 14, 2023, 05:39:27 PM

One question bothers me a long time and I am not sure if there is anyone that thinks about this before. Let's say you invested $10K in Bitcoin when the price was $20K,  and some time later the price pumped to $40K, which means the initial capital is now worth $20K. For some reason, you need cash urgently so you decide to sell the Bitcoin you own for cash. You do it and now you have that $20K on hand.

In this process of trading, your profit is $10K for sure, regardless of whether the Bitcoin price will pump or dump. If you won't invest again, this beautiful success should be what you are proud of. However, 99% of us will choose to buy again and hope for the next success. However, now you buy at $40K and the price may drop to a new low below $20K later, and the profit you gained from last trading may be eaten up gradually by the market dump.

Connect the two dots(two extreme conditions) and draw a curve, high chances are that at last, your profits from all investments may not be that much, at least much less than what you expected when you first gained that $10K. Therefore, all the occasional profits between investments may become fixed or variable costs that these investment must pay.

Does this sound logical to you ? What do you think of all the interval losses from the investment gains ? Please let me know.

What you are describing is not investment cost but rather you flip-flopping between selling and buying at the wrong times, which eats away your profit in two ways:

the first way is that you obviously get scared of the dump and sell lower than you bought. Then the price rises and you buy again because you think it will continue going up, without you. Repeat process until you have no money.

The second way, which most people underestimate, is you grind away your money with trading fees. 0.1% and 0.1% and again and again until you have grinded away 10% from your repeated and unnecessary back and forth trading.

The only real investment costs should be the withdrawal fees and the one-time buying fee. Thats it. After that you hodl.

And if you are susceptible to panic-selling or panic-buying, then walk away from the computer and distract yourself with something else at least for a few years. Investing into Bitcoin takes discipline.
1364  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Make an S9 quite? on: April 14, 2023, 04:57:06 PM
I wonder if anyone has tried underground mining to cool their miners in the form of a basement and ground-coupled heat exchanger which cools down the basement? Or would that be insufficient cooling?

As far as OP's question goes, I would wager liquid cooling to be the quietest method for cooling your mining rig. But then again if you have an entire room of miners, I am not sure how exactly that would differ from fan cooling. You would still need a source of cool air/liquid in both cases, I imagine. Perhaps combined with an more efficient way to channel the electricity through a minimal energy loss system. I don't suppose anyone mines with superconductors Grin?
1365  Economy / Gambling / Re: Blockchain Casinos - Consumer's Choice 2023! on: April 14, 2023, 04:04:48 PM
I would say its probably stake, but then again you did not really give us a wide array of options. Stake is basically the only old and trustworthy (As vetted by the community in the past) on your list. In fact I have never even heard of Crashino or Justbit before now... It seems like you just randomly picked the names of the first five casinos you have heard or seen before making this thread. Furthermore we already have a list of good casinos as well as their details of KYC, Terms and Conditions, withdrawal fees and so on... You might want to do a bit more research, OP, is what I am saying..
1366  Economy / Gambling / Re: NEW Flush.com Crypto Casino - ♠️ $BTC ♦️ $ETH ♣️ $DOGE ♥️ $LTC on: April 14, 2023, 03:00:12 PM
~snip~
Some changes have been made on Flush.com DEV team. They have also changed their gambling license (see here). The new DEV team completely updated the UI of the casino. Perhaps, the old DEV team didn't give the permission to Flush.com owner to continue with the old in-house games. I think the new DEV team has wiped out the old statistics of the users when they launched this updated version.

That seems a bit strange. Why would they change their gambling license? Did they change their location of business to another country? I do not see any reasons given by the team for this.

I also saw the original post asked about a license validator. Is there such a validator now? Anything that Flush.com can show us in order to solidify their license's validity?

Have there been any changes in the terms and conditions on their website? I would think Flush would want stay as transparent as possible, if they have nothing to hide? I think that the casino can answer the questions  in a reasonable amount of time.
1367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Whitepapers to Read as a Beginner? on: April 13, 2023, 11:35:40 PM
I would definitely start with the official Bitcoin whitepaper to understand cryptocurrency in its very essence. Otherwise any altcoin whitepaper you read is just an alteration with some somewhat new variations but ultimately is the same concept. After you are done reading, and most importantly, understanding Bitcoin, the next step is for you to read how Ethereum works. That will give you a higher focus on how smart contracts work and in what ways they can be used.

Everything else is not really all that necessary unless you want to be an expert in Blockchain.
1368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does it take to become a Bitcoin investor on: April 13, 2023, 09:16:30 PM
I have a close friend who recently purchased 0.8 Bitcoins and when we met he was happy and was like " I am now a Bitcoin investor"
At that point I go this question in mind ;what does it really take to become a Bitcoin investor .does it mean that if you own a considerable amount of Bitcoin in your wallet you are now a Bitcoin investor or there is more to it aside having a basic knowledge of crypto currencies

It takes money. Just like with investing in anything.

Not sure I understand the essence of your question or what you are actually asking. As long as you have the money and the motivation, you can become a Bitcoin investor. As far as researching your investment goes, that can be done anytime, before or even after making the investment.

In order to invest in Bitcoin you just need to buy some Bitcoin, which you can do on any platform which offers to sell you Bitcoin, or you could even buy it from a friend/family member, without any extra hassle.

Anyone who owns even a cent's worth of Bitcoin is already an investor.
1369  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can this be effective against the increasing numbers of gamblers? on: April 13, 2023, 08:05:15 PM
Quote

The Premier League have confirmed clubs have voluntarily agreed to remove gambling sponsors from the front of their matchday shirts from the start of the 2025/26 season.

This is a move to try to reduce promotion of gambling in the premier league with it's increasing audience, do you think it can successfully reduce the number of people who gamble? What do you think? Will these gambling platforms not just move to other sports, do you think other sports that wear their sponsors name in England will adopt this new development in the premier league?

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/premier-league-clubs-to-remove-gambling-sponsors-from-front-of-shirts/ar-AA19Ogeu

I think the keyword here will be "front" of their match day shirts. There is nothing about the back or side of the shirt. I am sure that the sponsers will find a work-around or a loophole of sorts to smear their logos on. Reducing promotions of ANYTHING is a good thing for players because we as the viewers, came to watch the players and watch them play. We did not pay for tickets to watch advertisements 24/7. But as I said, its unrealistic that there will be no more gambling or other advertisements, they will just find different ways to show them.
1370  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you lose on slots? on: April 13, 2023, 07:17:37 PM
Your rules are quite good and following such a strict regiment would definitely help out the people who go absolutely nuts on slots. Great job, OP.

Furthermore I would also add that switching between different slot games is just as important as switching between different slot machines, should you not be able to feel like you will win, even after many many tries. Not only does switching slot machines give you a clean slate when it comes to your chances of winning but switching between slot games also gives you a psychological break. If you keep playing the same game over and over again at some point your brain will show signs of fatigue and even irritation. That irritation alone can make you play in an irrational way.
1371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to convince a sceptical person to buy Bitcoin ? on: April 12, 2023, 09:10:29 PM
Some people are so set in their ways and behaviorism that it makes convincing them not possible. You cannot convince a person that black is black and white is white if they have been pumped full of ignorance and disinformation throughout their life. This usually only is seen with the older generations but sometimes the young are just as ignorant. I see no reason in wasting your energy trying to convince someone who does not wish to be convinced. The only way to show them the truth is when they see the end result of what buying Bitcoin does for their loved ones.
1372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ridiculous Bets that disappointed you on: April 12, 2023, 04:58:18 PM
I am quite the cautious gambler, therefore I have never felt the need or desire for betting on ridiculous odds or in strange ways. I have however once lost a bet due to a bug of some sort, I assume it was not server sided but rather client sided, meaning it was my fault, or rather my responsibility. My browser crashed at exactly the wrong time and I lost my money but I think the bet went through but I would have lost anyway. I just did not see the end result. That was quite disappointing. However I have made it a habit not to gamble with large amounts of money so it was not so bad as it could have been.
1373  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is on 30k how was your feelings ? on: April 12, 2023, 03:17:13 PM
I think 30k is more of a psychological wall rather than an actual one.  We should be going above and beyond soon.

Although we may see some whales manipulating the price and setting bear traps on the way up. Either way the best option for us is to keep hodling without selling. They will be counting on our emotional panic to buy our Bitcoin at cheaper prices. Resisting the urge to sell and buying even more will be our profit and their loss.

There is some news coming out of China of them warming up to Bitcoin, so we may see more news soon. Big pumps ahead.
1374  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Wagering requirements for withdraw on: April 12, 2023, 02:48:22 PM
I recently discovered that I signed up for a casino without thoroughly reading its terms and conditions agreement. But of course this was entirely my fault even that I am still bothered by the withdrawal requirements on deposits. It is well known that deposit bonuses or any bonus offered by a casino will have wagering requirements that goes to x50 or more. What truly concerns me is the 5X wagering requirement on normal deposits without any bonus in order to withdraw the initial deposit or winnings.
To clarify things better here is an example : if you were to deposit $1000 and win $200 in your first few games then you wouldnt be able to withdraw your winnings or even your deposits without wagering at least $5000. This means that 80% of the time, you would lose your money before reaching the required amount.
In my opinion this term is unfair. I am not attacking any specific casino, but I do believe that if users were aware of these requirements they would be less likely to deposit their money in such casinos since there are other casinos without such stringent requirements.

That sounds like a scammy casino. I am not going to pretend to be an expert on casino laws and regulations but if you want to determine whether or not a casino is halfway trustworthy then you need to do a little research on the gambling website. If they cannot provably show you that they are a registered and licensed online gambling casino which has to follow certain laws, or if they have a dubious or strange terms and conditions then its best to stay away from that website.

There are more than enough trustworthy casinos which have been greenlit by the Bitcointalk community. I suggest you stay with those casinos only, in the future.

Although doing your own research on top of that is always best.
1375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can owning 1 Bitcoin make you rich in 2023? on: April 12, 2023, 01:02:33 AM
No matter where you live, 1 BTC in 2023 is not going to make you rich unless Bitcoin goes up to a million usd in price within this year. There is no real point in debating this, I would think.

If you are thinking of trading (buying low and selling high), then yes, technically if you trade, your profits will gain more profits and so on and so forth but that is assuming you do not make losses, meaning you make perfect trades.

You could also invest your 1 BTC into your own business and miraculously get rich. But we are talking about the potential of 1 BTC, not 1 BTC itself.
1376  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I think it's time to leave Binance, any alternatives? on: April 11, 2023, 06:24:16 PM
Answer? No centralized exchange.

Operate by using Peer to Peer solutions for your bitcoin <-> fiat needs and use decentralized exchanges or no-kyc swapping utilities (if decentralized exchanges are not available) when you are on-chain. This way, you do not have to trust a third party with your blockchain usage data as well as your personal data and your risks of being exposed to potential pitfalls that come with using centralized exchanges as minimized.

If you are looking for peer to peer or privacy friendly options, I can recommend AgoraDesk for a local-bitcoins style marketplace and kycnot.me for tools that can be used to maintain privacy within the Bitcoin ecosystem and beyond. Some fantastic decentralized web3 tools exist on various layer 2 (arbitrum, optimism, polygon, etc.) for perpetual/margin trading if you will miss these features on the centralized exchange that you are currently using.

Yeah, pretty much this^

Centralized exchanges completely go against the very philosophy of Blockchain and cryptocurrency, which is to be your own bank. If you start trusting instead of verifying and give random strangers to hold your money for you, then at some point in time, you will lose everything. Whether through a hack or a bug or most likely just the government taking it from you for whatever reason.

DEX and p2p solutions are the best options right now. We might see some new inventions in the near future but for now you will just have to sacrifice comfort for security and freedom. (Which does not sound bad to me, if you were to ask)
1377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are lotteries really a good way to engage with gamblers? on: April 11, 2023, 05:21:31 PM
Hi everyone.
Maybe some of you have noticed that we are quite active on the forum, trying our best to offer bitcointalk gamblers interesting promotions.
We at MegaPari got used to a format of a lottery - we ask players to fulfill certain requirements and collect their IDs in order to pick winners for rewards.
First they were some bonus offerings, now we are also giving away "physical prizes" - a luxurious vacation or even a Lamborghini crossover. (details in our ANN thread, btw).
But here what concerns me - I think we need to move to a more engaging way of communicating with the audience while  running such campaigns.

Would you guys mind sharing you vision on the following:
-Do you personally take part in lotteries by online casinos?
-Do you track the progress and results of such campaigns?
-If so, are there any changes you would offer to make lotteries more exciting?

All in all, any discussion on the topic is welcome c:

Personally I do take part in lotteries by online casinos but I do not have any realistic expectations of winning, as sad as that sounds. I do not track the progress or results of those campaigns but sometimes I do remember and double check again. But thats a bit rare though.

As far as changes go to make the lotteries more exciting I guess I would advise holding separate campaigns which connect to the lottery. Mini games, mini prizes, anything that engages the community and makes the lottery more of an event instead of a gambling bet. Perhaps you could hold mini lotteries to promote the big lottery or something? Not sure how one would go about promoting a lottery in exotic ways...
1378  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕘𝕒𝕞𝕖 𝟚𝟘𝟜𝟠 𝕚𝕟 𝕘𝕒𝕞𝕓𝕝𝕚𝕟𝕘 on: April 11, 2023, 03:57:48 PM
I have never had of this game maybe is that a new game. Could you upload images of this game. You know there are some games that may be very hard to include in online casino due its resolutions of the screen might affect it. But anyway she since I don't have good knowledge about 2048 it could be that adding it casino may not affect it and could function perfectly fine.
in this game you have to move the dice by increasing the numbers

That sounds like something which is not suitable to gambling just based on the fact that it is not luck based. It could be purely skilled based and even then I would not trust it. The reason is very simple. You have to ask yourself, could somebody develop an algorithm with which he can cheat? All someone has to do is write a few lines of code and voila! A cheating bot is born!

You know how a human cannot beat a chess bot? Well same thing. Except you will be losing money in an unfair, unbeatable game. Or rather, the casino will be losing money.

1380  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 10, 2023, 09:06:04 PM

My memory is not the best on that case, but the hitman stuff seems to have been a kind of set-up by the feds who lured Ulbricht into it.
Afaik, the murder allegations were dismissed in the end.

I do not know if it a pre-planned setup into getting him to hire killers or if it was his own plan. But ultimately, giving the order was Ross's own decision. He thought they were real killers at the time and he gave them the order to murder 6 people. Whether he was egged on by the FBI or not does not really matter to me after that point. I do not see how anyone can defend him. He himself does not deny this.
