1381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if they tried it on: April 10, 2023, 04:47:16 PM
What if the governments across the world attempted to seize all of your crypto assets like the US seized all gold from their citizens in the 1900s. Now I'm seeing articles talking about how the US government is trying to be able claim private property.

I think that ultimately this would be very challenging for any government to successfully accomplish. This would cause a revolutionary period again in our world I imagine....

Then I would laugh and laugh until I could not laugh anymore. How exactly are they going to seize my wallet if the seed phrase is in my head? Will they torture me? Threaten me with prison? How will they even be able to connect my wallet to me? I may have lost all my Bitcoin the day before in a boating accident. Grin

The government cannot do anything and will not do anything. If it was possible to take away my Bitcoin without my consent, countries like China would have long since confiscated their citizens Bitcoin without as much as a word.

If the government tries to steal my physical property, there will be war...
1382  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Times When Casinos Will Ask Certificate That You Are A Responsible Gambler on: April 10, 2023, 04:18:50 PM
Will there come a time when online casinos will implement that you upload a responsible gambler certificate before you continue to play because of too many government restrictions it's not necessary for newly registered gamblers but for gamblers who lose a lot of money and their activity is they are suspected to be addicted to gambling.
The reason why the government will implement this, as a precaution, is to protect people from losing their wealth and their health from too much gambling because of addiction, it's a way of protection.

I do not see this as a good idea. If anything its just adding on to the trade of security for freedom. I do not want to live in China, therefore I would rather take the risks but at least not be controlled like an animal.

From the perspective of the government, their main objective is to gain as much money from casino taxes as they can. As far as the gamblers go, they really do not care about who is healthy and who's life has been ruined. Government is like a giant business. And giant businesses do not care about their workers.

If the gamblers want to remain healthy and wealthy, they need to make sure to impose upon the government themselves, or better yet, they need to protect themselves individually.

Your idea might be good if it was changed a bit: there should be KYC licenses issued by the government so that we do not have to hand over our personal documents to each and every casino.

1383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NOVA88.IO | Nova88 CryptoSports | Decentralized Sports Betting | No KYC on: April 10, 2023, 02:21:27 PM
Hello and welcome to the Bitcointalk forum! We welcome you with open hands and support your project if it connects to the community in a meaningful way.

Please be advised that even though we have a very large gambling community, we have also been the victims of multiple bad actors in the past. Therefore we are very watchful and suspicious of any new casino. As long as you stay transparent and fair, you will find that there are many opportunities for marketing your casino on this forum. Especially when it comes to signature campaigns.

Hope to try out your casino soon!
1384  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 09, 2023, 09:26:11 PM

They are both scum. As far as I remember Ross Ulbricht tried to hire a murderer to kill someone. Don't get me wrong, Bankman deserves prison until he is an old man, there is no excuse for letting him run free. It just goes to show how corrupt the US justice system is.

1385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has a bad reputation (we should fix it) on: April 09, 2023, 05:16:35 PM
Hello everyone!
I've been thinking a lot about Bitcoin adoption lately and I think that adoption is still pretty slow partly because of the Bitcoin reputation. Despite it being a progressive technology of the future, a lot of people still think that it's a joke.

So there is different opinion among people about Bitcoin. Some people consider Bitcoin as "criminal money" because it's often used on the dark web and helps criminals to get away with selling drugs and stuff.
There are also people who think that Bitcoin is a bubble that will explode and lose its value, so they don't trust it. It's probably because these people don't know how Bitcoin and blockchain work.
And there is a third group of people who think that Bitcoin is used just for gambling so they don't want to buy it.

I think it would be good if we can convince these people that they are wrong. I know that an obvious way to do it would be an education, which will help A LOT. But as for now, do you think there are other ways to change these people's opinions?
Like would it be good if we could create a system that somehow will make the life of criminals who use Bitcoin harder?

Bitcoin only has a bad reputation because of how famous and widely adopted it is. You will always see this either with famous people or famous things, the more popular they, the more hate they get from trolls. There is no way to stop them from slinging dirt on Bitcoin but the dirt will never stick. Anyone with half a brain understands that using fiat is way more anonymous than using Bitcoin, but nobody is talking about fiat being bad because of all the paper money drug trades...

Let them talk about Bitcoiner as they wish. It will only make Bitcoin more popular. There is absolutely no reason to "do something against it". People will find out for themselves what Bitcoin really is.
1386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe is a custodial wallet to a hardware wallet on: April 07, 2023, 08:08:48 PM
I recently purchased some Bitcoins butAccording to most posts and replies on this forum it seem the best way to hodl Bitcoin is to use a hardware wallet as long as you can keep it safe.
Well is the hard ware wallet better than a custodial wallet??

A custodial wallet in my eyes is exactly the same thing as a third party wallet, like an exchange wallet for example. And if that wallet is not open source, like Trustwallet (although Trustwallet is non-custodial), then there is even less reason to trust it. Such wallets have to be viewed as third party wallets because in the worst case scenario, your funds could be taken from you for any reason. Its a huge security flaw and I do not recommend it. There is no need for trust when it comes to cryptocurrency.

The best option is always a hardware wallet. 99.9% of the time, nothing will go wrong with any kind of custodial wallet. But if (when) it goes wrong, you lose everything. Thats not something I would want to risk.
1387  Economy / Gambling / Re: Multidice.io | The multi-currency dice game | 35+ cryptos on: April 07, 2023, 06:03:55 PM
~snip~
Someone has posted a screenshot above where Multidice team announced about the cancellation of their ICO project. They sent the message on their telegram in the 14th January, but their telegram channel isn't available anymore. Multidice server is down, all of their social media accounts are unavailable now. Which gives a clear sign that they have closed their business. BTW, I got a promotional email from them on the 6th March for the last time.

It seems very strange for me that they cancelled their ICO and took down their servers without as much as a warning. Did everyone get their deposits back? I have not heard any scam accusations against multidice.io so I would assume everything is in the green for now...

This casino did not last a very long time? Only what, 2 years? I wonder what went wrong?

Was their ICO really necessary to keep the site online? I would think any casino should be more than self sufficient and if not then they usually sell their casino to somebody else. In the case of Multidice it was well established enough to be sold to a new owner, I would think...
1388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin usage in crime activity. on: April 07, 2023, 05:27:51 PM
Hello crypto bros.
Today I want to discuss a pretty big problem that bitcoin adoption is facing.
Bitcoin is great in means of anonymous transactions and getting away from the banks and government control, but the problem is, it's the exact problem why criminals are using it. And it's a pretty big one. I'm not saying that criminals use bitcoin more than fiat, but we all can see that illegal services are widely accepting bitcoin.

The problem here is that the system should have some way to fight these criminals because we don't want bitcoin to be associated with drugs and sex trafficking,  but the problem is, by solving these problems we should get rid of anonymity which is a pillar for the bitcoin technology, so it can't be done. And this problem might be a big obstacle in mass bitcoin adoption and regulations that are coming.

So I want to hear your opinion: how to make bitcoin technology "safer" so we could fight a crime committed with crypto and help with bitcoin adoption without taking away the main features of bitcoin like decentralization and anonymity?

There is no anonymity in a public ledger. You want anonymity? You deal with fiat. Cold hard cash. Thats anonymity.

Bitcoin is literally less anonymous than paper money
. This comical rumor of Bitcoin being untraceable is a myth which is perpetrated by anti coiners who want to see BTC fail (It won't). As soon as you connect your identity to the exchange where you buy your Bitcoin, any Bitcoin transaction you make can be traced to you. So obviously its a misunderstanding. A lot of dark web drug dealers have been busted because they did not understand this. Also, ironically this is the reason why monero is now the golden standard for dark web criminal dealings.
1389  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Nghitumbwa (May 13) on: April 07, 2023, 05:09:57 PM
@goldkingcoiner, agree with you mate that stats could help some users here to have some understanding or idea about this relatively unknown opponent of Casimero, I'll just update the OP if I have the time as I'm busy at the moment IRL,

I don't think that there will be an upset here because such thing could derail the plan of Casimero's promoter of him having a big fight in the near future, this will be an easy fight for him.

This is a cherry pick for fight for Casimero, so he will have to win this fight, otherwise the potential fight for Inoue or anyone in the division will not happen and it will life difficult for Casimero because he will have to start from scratch again.

What I think even if he win on this match he can't still successfully acquire the attention of Inoue's promoter to deal with up with him and negotiate about their fight. If they want to do it well they set it up before but many notice that they are avoiding and choose to fight another opponent.

Maybe he need to get more win on big fights so that they cannot escape if they challenge Inoue and fans commentary about they want to make this fight to happen.

I agree, and if he loses, it will have a much worse outcome for Casimero as well... But I also think that for the new guy, Nghitumbwa, if he wins he will have an amazing opportunity to gain the interest of some big name promoters but if he loses, then that might be able to put a damper on his career although perhaps it is a win win situation for him because he has nothing much to lose, unlike Casimero. If Casimero loses against a no-name thats pretty much a death sentence to him ever getting the attention of Inoue's promoter.
1390  Economy / Economics / Re: Try to save money while you still can, will you ? on: April 07, 2023, 04:55:27 PM

Well, the inflation in my country now is not extremely high but has already damaged the economy. The cost of living is increasing and does not seem to stop. Last week one of my friends lost his job after working in the same company for a decade. His life abruptly changed, putting him in a place where he could not support his family. If you were him, how would you survive this tough time ? As a friend, I am trying to help him as much as I can and meanwhile, I am planning to save more money to prepare for the unexpected challenges in my life. What about you ?

If the inflation is currently not very high that does not mean it will stay that way forever. There have been many countries where a bad surprise has left people with not enough money to buy bread.

Saving fiat is good, saving BTC is better. Although personally, for me money is BTC.

The best middle alternative would be saving your fiat in the form of many different investments. Some can even be physical, like gold, if you do not trust things that you cannot touch or see with your own hands and eyes.
1391  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 07, 2023, 04:10:46 PM

The dogecoin pump from the logo change has already been whittled down back to the price level where it was before. Anyone who bought in got stuck at the top. I wonder how much Elon sold?
1392  Economy / Gambling / Re: Enough to consider a casino scam? on: April 07, 2023, 03:56:02 PM
Hi friends, I have some questions for you guys about online casinos

What will you do if you don't know that a online casino will ask you for KYC after winning over 8,000$ on the platform? And you now manage to process with the verification and they failed to pass you? Can you consider such a casino a scam?

Also, imagine you get attracted to an online casino because of the bonuses they offer and you open an account and make your first deposit then you didn't receive the promised bonus, is this an act of scam or not?

I am trying to solve such an issue for someone very close to me and that the complaint he gave, I have no answer than maybe the bonus was canceled already before he made the deposit or there was a minimum deposit requirement.

Any other reasons?

Well, I would very well much expect a casino to KYC me after trying to withdraw a large amount of money. They obviously do not do this for every single account because checking KYC documents take time, personnel and money. And they have to adhere to the regulation laws if they have a legitimate license. Any other casino that does not do this would seem shady to me.

As far as to your question of a failed KYC, either it was a human error and you should try to talk things out with them or the KYC you gave them is faulty/wrong in some other way. The best thing to do is to read the terms and conditions of that casino before putting your funds in their wallet.
1393  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are you profitable? on: April 06, 2023, 09:10:38 PM
In trading many people especially online influencers and traders, Are they really profitable? many new people trapped buy listening to those influencers that they say just you need to buy at this line and sell at this line. and whoa! you made profit, They just teaches people basic TA and charge huge amount to learn. but they doesn't share their personal journal or something, they say us that you need to make an journal, do that, do that ,
but they don't share there trades, I really get jealous of that kind of people they say to innocent people that you can make money out of this, and make money selling courses which i very basic that we can learn from a good affordable book.
some traders trade live and share there losses and wins, and after a month they share there total PnL(profit and loss) and they made real profits, (some people say they just share there other account's Pnl , we can't know that)
My question is are your profitable trader and can you share you journal or something ?, many of us will feel motivated.

I would advise you to never trust any influencer. They basically sell their very souls to whoever pays them. They are definitely not real traders. They scheme and lie and find ways to avoid legal responsibility later down the line.

Notice how these influencers always have fancy cars like lambos or ferraris in their videos? The truth is always that those cars are rented and the other people around them are paid actors. Its been proven and these influencers have been exposed time and time again.

As a real trader, I am "barely" profitable. The profits are slim but they exist. Thats what real trading is. Don't believe anything else.
1394  Economy / Economics / Re: How Long in Years Should I Wait Before I Close Down an Unprofitable Business on: April 06, 2023, 07:20:05 PM
How long in years should I go before I give up and close down a business that is unprofitable?

I was listening to a podcast where Kelvin O'Neal1 was featured. He said, "If you are not making money after 36months(3 years), you've gotta take a behind the barn and shoot it. It's just a hobby. It's not a business."

According to him, "people can get so stuck on a bad idea that they just keep thinking that if I keep working on it, it's going to fix itself. It doesn't fix itself. It was put on your journey to teach you, what not to do."

- To what extent do you agree or disagree with this assertion ?

-Have you had a business that even though it wasn't profitable in the first three (3) years, then it  kicked off to bring in good returns in the fourth (4th) year?

1 https://www.instagram.com/reel/CqVbhNCt0yF/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

I would not be so quick to put a number or a limit on the amount of time you should wait until you close down a bad business. It is really a subjective matter. Why is the business failing and can it be fixed? Are you willing to invest more time to bring the business up again? How dedicated are you to this venture? There are a lot of questions you need to ask yourself before deciding to break away from something that took you years to build up.

I think that if you truly feel there is no longer a point, and that feeling is not just a split second emotional decision, then you should quit that business and cut your losses.

But putting a time limit on things will not give you clarity on whether or not the business has any chance left to make it.
1395  Economy / Economics / Re: The beginning of the end for centralized AI? on: April 06, 2023, 06:51:10 PM
There is a rumor going around that Centralized ChatGPT is getting banned, I don't know if this is official yet but it is official that in Italy the government is worried about privacy concerns and they put a ban on ChatGPT, is this the beginning of the end for ChatGPT? How will this impact decentralized AI projects because I believe they can't be banned.

Another possibility is if ChatGPT or OpenAI start getting banned in other parts of the world we can see a big rally on AI projects on the blockchain, what do you think?

I have not heard of any such rumor but if it does indeed exist then the best thing to do is make ChatGPT open source. I mean if it gets banned anyway then might as well give the people the opportunity to build their own ChatGPT as well as improve upon it.

The governments have absolutely no right or logical reason to ban it. I think its all coming down to a handful of bitter, old and scared men who get easily frightened by technology and therefore feel the need to ban it. And even if the fears are justified a tiny bit, how do they propose to stop it? All they are doing is fighting against the inevitable and wasting taxpayer money.
1396  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Nghitumbwa (May 13) on: April 06, 2023, 06:30:47 PM
Just announced a few hours ago that Johnriel Casimero will be fighting against an unknown opponent (at least to many) and his name is Fillipus Nghitumbwa. Per below boxing record, his resume is not impressive so i think this will be a walk in the park for Quadro Alas.

This fight may not be so exciting to some users here but for us coming from the PH, Quadro Alas fighting in his country is a big thing as we seldom see him fight in the PH when he become a world champion.

Nghitumbwa for his part has not fought on foreign land and he got not much experience with only 13 fights but still hoping that he could give Casimero a competitive fight.

What do you guys think of this fight?

I think that if you are going to list stats you might as well list the stats of both fighters so people can compare, don't you think?

Casimero stats:

Total fights   36
Wins                   32
Wins by KO   22
Losses           4

I have never heard of Nghitumbwa before and I would not bet on some no-name with a mediocre boxing record, especially when up against someone like Casimero, who has proven himself time and time again. I am going to be watching the match with interest and keeping an eye on the new guy though. He might have some potential if he actually wins this fight. Lets see what happens.
1397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do new online casinos struggle? on: April 06, 2023, 05:40:02 PM
Which one do you think is better and has more healthy growth for a new online casino?

Is it better for a new casino to take their time very slow with their project for the time being to be able to raise some money first and only attract users with banners and small advertisements?

Or a new casino project should go all in on doing advertisements starting from their launch date with everything they've got?

I thin it would be much better for the casino to take things slowly and plan everything out, double check, triple check and then check again. Its really the smartest thing to do. Correcting a problem later and working out a solution for it, while you are responsible for thousands of gamblers and their funds is a giant nightmare which should be avoided. Small steps forward might be slow for some people but its the smartest and least risky path for success.

Why do new online casinos struggle? A Few I knew are not doing fine and they had to put an end to their advertising campaigns.

I think any new business has a struggle. The question of how they overcome that struggle shows everyone whether or not their casino/other business is worth anything in the long term.

I would rather trust a casino that deals with struggles than one that half-bakes everything or quits.
1398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do women engage in crypto trading on: April 05, 2023, 09:26:27 PM
Most persons may say no but YES is the actual answer
In the ideal sense the dominance of crypto currencies by women is in great progress. Bitcoin is  the most popular crypto currency and therefore a currency of such will be dominated either now or in the future.
Women engage in crypto currency transactions also like men do the reason you may feel they don't is because those that don't have not much idea about it.

Of course they do, but without wanting to sound misogynistic or anything, I think traders are mostly men due to the risky nature and men's fondness/biological evolution for taking risks. Women are more risk averse. Which is a good thing otherwise the human race would have gone extinct a long long time ago.

But that being said, a woman who knows how to trade and does so successfully is in my eyes, a more amazing trader than her male counterpart. Because not only did she overcome her aversion to risk but she probably trades in a fashion which is least risky and most profitable. While most men traders lose all their money on emotional, amateurish trading because they did not take trading strategy seriously.
1399  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Think Existing Crypto Casinos Were Able to Churn Fiat Casinos User? on: April 05, 2023, 06:15:31 PM
I think that existing crypto and fiat casinos cannot really be put together into the same basket. They might be casinos but they are completely different as well. If the crypto casinos banked on that knowledge and used it to market to the fiat casino fans then they must have created a marketing plan which would make help the transition along. Basically a way of showing the gamblers "how much more fun and convenient a crypto casino could be than a fiat casino".

All they had to do was take the weaknesses of a traditional casino and show them to the user by offering a crypto solution to each of those cons. After that the gambler instinctively weighs out the pros and cons and decides to stay with crypto casinos.
1400  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez on: April 05, 2023, 01:05:21 PM
I would not say that Josh Taylor will definitely be the top contender for me in this match because Teofimo Lopez seems to have the upper hand in physical health. The extent of Josh Taylor's plantar fascia injury to the arch of his foot is being kept "undisclosed". The severity of the tear makes me doubt he will be able to keep on his feet as in the past. Especially because they refuse to talk about how bad the injury really was. Pain management alone will not be sufficient to keep up with Lopez's footwork. So far I see a red flag in betting on Taylor, which I would do if he was in top-fit-condition...
