Is there a chance that you have a circuit issue?
what is your setup from start to finish, are you on 220 or 110 volt?

I just picked up 40 more units from my unofficial dealer today. He has the units in hand you hand him the money and load up the miners.
Well, does your unofficial dealer want to sell more? Who? How long does it take to get your hands on them and for how much?
You guys are all getting off topic, please limit conversation to Minerwarez and their service and products. Also be wary of this random offer like Mdude77 said these units are sold out everywhere, the last units available sold out in minutes through an official distributor. Use Escrow, take precautions, if you do plan on selling items, move your post to the marketplace.

I've logged into the Avalon controller but no, I haven't specifically added a pool. I've hooked everything up. From the setup video I've seen, the fan/Avalon should power on and run even without mining. I've let it run for a short amount of time just minutes maybe 10-15, the fan starts and stops repetitively. I turned it off because the Avalon was beginning to get warm/hot.
So definitely enter your pool info then it will actually run and keep the fan speed up as needed. The fan is variable speed so without making the chips work it will cycle like you were saying. The miner will get warm but you can monitor the temps from your miner status page in the advanced view, you just change the theme from the main page when you first log in.

Does it completely stop? How much time are you waiting as there is a ramp up period.
Do you have your pool information entered into the controller?

No one should buy without Escrow.
I think most agents charge 1 or 2%, not sure but you can always stipulate that the buyer pays for the Escrow.
It is highly recommended in the forum that escrow be used, and suggesting you want someone to buy this unit without, make s everything seem shady.
Posting your pics will be a good start, make sure to include the date and your BTCtalk username.
Also what help do you need to set this up yourself, it's not hard and there are a ton of you tube and forum rundowns on what you need to do.

Everyone's in the same boat. It sucks if you can't get through and process that order, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Smaller batches especially go within minutes, and it happens everywhere, the EU distributor went through the same thing a few days ago.
I'm just glad this batch was available and didn't go to a pallet customer to add another 450 TH/S to their farm.
Orders will improve slightly with the 8 series I'm sure mostly because each batch will have a larger number of units than this batch of 741's did ( this is the bottom of the bin EOL units). They will still sell out in 20 minutes I'm sure and the website will likely crash but that's just the way things go. At least your odds of getting a unit are better than solo mining a block.

This usually means you are entering the pool login info wrong, make sure you follow the steps your pool provides. It might be the password usually it can be anything just not left blank.

Tracking information sent via email.
Tracking information received, thanks! I'm amazed but it says they attempted delivery on the 26th, let me know when you pick up the parcel. Thanks EDIT: Cableiso paid the remaining balance due once package showed delivery. Pleasure doing business with you. Safe travels

You brown-noser! You just want to earn brownie points for Blokforge, haha! (Wish I had thought of it, lol).
They also have a small forum where you can ask questions. They've been very responsive so far. It's great to see another distributor serving North America.
Wish Bitmain would get on the distributor train...
Oh Didley, lol. Just extending that Canadian courtesy south of the border, haha. Glad everything worked out for you this month. Also they did update their price for the 741's I saw this morning it says 1450, so it matches up with what Canaan's site says. I'm sure they'll be sold out within minuted on the 26th, so anyone who wants one don't forget.

Depending on where you are there is parallelminer, and I use Amitylabs eBay store. There's quite a few options depending on your plans

Yeah I think they said the earliest they will be taking orders for the 821 is the end of January, if everything goes smoothly. Still no firm dates or pricing on the 8 series.

They had sent out an email, they don't have an exact ship date yet. They haven't changed the pricing so it would be nice to get them for 1200. They do have an Avalon forum on their homepage you can ask them questions there, they seem to be pretty quick to respond

There is already a thread about this, best bet is to ask on the slushpool thread in the pools section

You should ask this on the slush thread, people there will have a better idea.

Okay I got yah,
To find out what that 3 prong dryer plug has for a circuit, I'm no expert so I don't know what you would have off the top of my head, you need to look at your breaker panel, you should be able to find it labeled it should be a 2 pole breaker which means it takes up 2 spaces in the panel. You will probably have a few 2 pole breakers so if it's not labelled it might be tough to pinpoint. Depending on the circuit you will want to size the receptacle accordingly.
So if it's 30 amp grab a 30 amp receptacle, same for if it's 20 amp. Make sure the receptacles are for 220V. You can do this on that 3 prong dryer outlet if you are not using it and don't plan to.
You can google and do a little research to make sure you understand how to change the receptacle properly, but given the investment made in equipment and the dangers of faulty wiring I would suggest having an electrician come by and give you a hand with that.
Depending what receptacle you have installed you need to get the matching cable end and wire that up to your PSU. I would say hold on to that end you are taking off though because maybe as time goes on you expand and begin to use PDU's to cut down on receptacles.
I would suggest though because you have limited electrical knowledge that you get an electrician to come in and make sure. This way you will also see how to do these things should you choose to in the future.

yeah understand that, so is the sorcerer the best psu to use with it? sorry im a newb to avalon only know a lot about bitmain stuff so far
The sorcerer PSU, is just the one that they offer and is spec'd to run 1 of the 821's. You can look for other server PSU providers to find something that will also suit your needs, especially if you want to run 2 units off 1 PSU. If you search the hardware threads you will probably find some good advice on what would suit you best. I've picked mine up from Amitylabs ebay store, I've heard others say good things about parallelminer.

So far from what I can tell the 26th is the last chance to buy the 741 from Blokforge. It's part of the last 741 units rolling out of Canaans production line.
I don't think orders can start for the 821 until Canaan releases the pricing for the units. Not sure when that will be, Canaan sent an email saying not to ask for pricing and that everyone will be updated at the same time.

Here is the information for the other North American Distributor of Avalon products, they also carry various other hardware products.
Blokforge is bringing in 741's from the last available batch. They are also hyping up the 821 model
They go on sale December 26th 5PM MST.
You can get on their mailing list and join their Avalon support community at Blokforge.com
Here's what I found for my orders if you are outside the U.S. for payment
You need to pay using BTC ( they might be accepting LTC now) or Wire transfer.

Only the first picture loads.
Nice to see an amitylabs PSU, I use a couple of their 2450 versions. After re reading your post I assume the cable is detachable.
I had a similar issue the first time I bough a Miner it was an S4+ and had a very similar cable, I wound up getting rid of it, the guy told me he thought I had a PDU.
Long story short you can buy a cable just like the one you have but with a different end on it depending on the type of circuit you are trying to run off of.
Is it a 220V 20 amp circuit or 30 amp circuit?
If I am wrong about the cable being detachable from the PSU you can also cut the end off your cable and rewire the plug with the right one, if you are comfortable doing that.
