While I must say it is nice to have a more stable predictable path to miner on, I kinda miss the big swing days where my hashrate was almost twice as profitable. Just a matter of perspective, because with this new EDA avoiding those big drastic hashrate swings, I've taken myself off of auto profit, and have been enjoying this newer stable market for the time being.
I feel like it still reacts really well to the chains hashrate but without over correcting.
Did anyone else find that there wasn't a lot of talk about this fork? It seemed to float under the radar due to 2x.

I'm still looking for options myself, I have been using bitcoin.com pool for mining but wanted to see if there was anything better, mostly because they are starting to add mining fees, 2% for now. This pool looks to be operating but with only 146 GH/S so likely dead in the water with someone still pointing a machine there. This website doesn't even load so I would say the pool is dead.

I would look into getting a 2 pole 20amp breaker.
Then wire it up to a L6-30 Outlet
Depending on your voltage you will get anywhere from 5-5.7kw
Very close, but you want everything rated the same that way devices such as breakers can do their job and trip if needed and outlets can do their job and handle the amps that go by the breaker. You should consider using the existing 2 pole 30 amp breaker and then use the l6-30 outlet. Then go on ebay and buy a used PDU, make sure it is rated for 240 volts and 24 amps. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/HP-Rack-Mount-24A-200-240VAC-1P-Core-Module-PDU-EO4501-417580-D71-228481-002/401426932271?hash=item5d76e8e22f:g:sFsAAMXQwKdRfsDxWith the outlet ratings on this PDU you should be able to run 3 S9's with the numbers you provided. but they would each need to be on their own PSU because the PDU outlets can only handle 12 amps and that would be close. Good luck

I would say don't bother with cloud mining. There are so many scam out there, and the ones that aren't can be tough to navigate for a profit.
Do a few Google searches regarding the coin you want to mine, inform yourself as much as you can. Make sure any pages you read are for 2016/2017 for relevant basic info.
You can check out the beginners section on the forum, then search through the hardware section tonsee what you want equipment is right for you.
Myself I bought a couple of used s5's to test the waters then upgrades once I decided mining was right for ne.
Good luck

That's weird, have you tried switching the sub port you are using on the controller?
There have been issues with the auc converters but usually you can still get into the api log and the miner status page.

When I went up to running 4 Avalons on a 240 volt circuit, I went with a PDU off ebay ( bought 2 for the next expansion). I liked the idea of only needing 1 receptacle as the price of additional ones adds up as well as the extra wire required. I searched eBay for 1 night asked a few questions and got 2 units for under 100 USD shipped. I almost didn't go this route because I looked for new PDUS and that was a mistake, for me anyways.

I filled out an order for 2 s9s and 2 psus and it came to about $210 USD in shipping costs. Anyone have an idea how much more I would pay?
In Canada the minimum extra you will have to pay is taxes on the declared value if the items. That varies province to province, then it depends on what company is bringing it into Canada as they usually charge a brokerage fee. If you run or own a business it cuts the taxes down to 5% gst only

If you move this to the alt coin section you will get more help. You are currently posted in the bitcoin section of the forum. Just scroll down a bit on the homepage

When you do decide what PSU you are using you will also want to decide if you plan on growing to a few more miners at that receptacle. It will help you decide on the final size if the circuit.
The PDU Phil refers to is nice, I took his advice previously and grabbed a few, so I could grow into the space without adding receptacles or upgrading the circuitry beyond my 30 amps that are there.
You will also want to change the breaker that feeds that receptacle. Always best to keep the circuit breaker and receptacles rated the same.

That's unfortunate from the posts lately if you try all that and it gets you nowhere you just have to wait on the support to send you a new one.
I'm in Canada so I can't help you out. With a working spare

Sorry just noticed that you said you had tried all the auc3 converters. Have you tried all of the cables from the converter to the miner? Maybe the first in the chain was messed up.
Also not that it should make a difference just try adding in a pool again yourself, whichever one you are planning on using, and fire it up again.
Other than that where are you located maybe someone nearby can send you a working auc converter to test, or do you know any miners?
Did you already create your Canaan ticket? The sooner the better
When you flashed your ad card are you sure it was the right version. I don't k ow much about this aspect but my version says 20170603. I'm not sure what the difference would be except the date

Just wondering have you tried the advice of trying all 5 of your auc converters? With any luck atleast 1 of the 5 should be good.
Also what are you using to power your rasp pi? There have been some issues with people not using something providing more than 2amp (I think that is the min) the more the better especially if you are chaining multiple miners.
Another small thing is are you using the left as input and right for output for the cable from aux converter to miner.
Also create a support ticket with Canaan and be sure to document all your troubleshooting.
Good luck

I've never ordered from bitmain, but any hardware I've ordered has fallen into these 2 categories. The shipped charged me in the purchase price to cover shipping, customs and taxes. Or when the shipment cleared into Canada I had to pay a brokerage fee and taxes. This was through UPS. The only reason I paid for them to broker it is the nearest customs office was 3 hours away and wasn't worth the drive. Depending in where you live you can go to the office fill out the paperwork and pay the taxes on the imported item. Here is a government link about importing for Canada http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/import/courier/menu-eng.htmlHope that helps.

Ya REALLY should be posting this in the Official Avalon thread in Hardware... Canaan monitors it. The green lights on the miners says they are alive but idling. Will be blue when they are mining. Wonder if you got some of the un-flashed AUC3 dongles Canaan had a problem with... yep I think he did I didn't realise they had become such a problem. Shitty to get 2 out of 2 bad. If that's the case get a hold of Canaan through a support ticket, or try to find someone in your country willing to part with a working one.

Okay have you tried just running 1 Avalon at a time from the rasp pi? Also the cable from the auc3 to the miner, are you using the left side for input?
There is a chance that the brick you are using to power the rasp pi isn't providing enough power. Using WiFi might also put extra strain on it, not sure. Are you able to try it out with an ethernet connection?
What are you using to power the rasp pi?
Hopefully we can get this sorted

Greetings,
I am having the exact same problem and wondering if you got your issue resolved.
Thanks!!
John
Hi John, So what lights do you see with everything plugged in? On the miners and the auc3 converter. Are you able to log into the cgminer interface? How many Avalons are hooked up? What are you using for a psu? There's a few things it could be.

Haha, I'm hoping that was a typo and that they were going for 2000W. If not I'll also take a unicorn and a ride on Nessy watch out for GMO, 10TH 200w. If we're making up numbers, why not say 10PH @ 10W?

Yeah the waiting is one of the reasons I chose to go with Canaan back in August, I also prefer the product. At the moment though they also have a ship date of the end of December, haven't checked to see if they sold out or not. Good luck

Well first off start here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0This is some beginner info. Also a lot of people ask this so look around in the forum and use the search function. Don't sit around and wait for replies, do a google search for your title of the thread, add bitcoin to the search and read any page that has a 2017 date on it. Good luck

When I set up my new Rasp PI I wasn't able to change my laptop address successfully, but I found a work around.
If you have a d-link router sitting around, you can plug that in (power and ethernet) this creates a sub network, if you use the d-link router for your laptop and the Rasp pi you will be able to log into it and change the settings to DCHP. It works because the D-link I found uses 192.168.0.
