I have a feeling the group buy died out in the last few seconds as Canaan is scrambling, to manage their growth as a company; which includes policies procedures and standards. This also falls into the "wow we're big now" lets make sure we are following all rules and regulations that our government has imposed, in dealing with all forms of currency and exchanges. The latter being a big one because on the face of it any of these large companies can easily appear as a front for money laundering.
My take away from all of it, is that they did care enough to try and work with and help us. They just lack the customer/sales support staff, as well as logistics planners for their current demand in the industry. I do look forward to continuing to deal with them in the future. Hopefully they funnel a large amount of their profits into improving these areas.

Way to stay positive, it is nice that they tried to do something to work with us, it is unfortunate how things have pretty much ended. Again thanks to you and sidehack, as well as Steve. Sometimes things just fall apart.

I have drawn the following conclusion if I do a 100 unit single group buy or a pair of 50 unit group buys or a set of three 34 unit group buys at my very small mark up I will under cut all the other people buying pallets of 60.
By huge number so every reseller in the world would hate me.
Soooo I would think resellers all over the world don't want the group buy I organized to get off the ground
As I would kill their sales. Sooo I wonder if I will ever get my group buy approved.
I got a polite maybe in an email reply from Steve early today. I felt he was holding back. I now think some
Resellers asked for protection from my low profit group buy.
Those poor little resellers had to go ask for protection from the big bad group of people who won't pay their prices anyways. Whatever the issue is, we should have been shutdown well before the 11th hour, instead of wasting your time and getting sidehack to order parts to build Psu's; for an order that now probably won't materialize. Overall just frustrating to deal with the company but they understand you just have to be marginally better than the other guy.

Well since the recent group buy of Philip is frozen we have some choices...
Sounds like he is still going to see if Canaan will accept smaller batch buys to allow BTC payment.. His after all in touch with an official rep from Canaan..(Steve forgothislastname).....
So maybe we can still group just us Canucks together for a smaller batch but have Phil execute it.. Doubt Canaan would do the shipping to all the individuals in Canada.. We would probably have to take shipment from him..or sidehack etc..
Just exploring options to see if any interested.. I still think this may be our best shot at getting some A7's...at a decent price..in near future..low risk
.site sells out so fast and resellers are too risky and greedy..
BUT NO LEAFS FANS
They usually start replying to my emails about this time still waiting. It would be nice if they just helped that order along; and let us bang out 3 smaller orders right quick make everybody happy. I'll definitely wait to hear if we get good news before making any other plans. But if the worst should happen maybe we could salvage a North America order if we keep within the BTC payment cap.

Hi there, So just checking at the moment is this still dead in the water waiting for a fix? If we do get this moving again can someone pm me, as I don't want to miss this or hold things up in any way. Thanks again.

My ticket was also updated to reflect BTC payment. It will be another few days before we are asked for payment based on prior history ordering from Canaan.
Forward progress is nice, considering the back up plan may have just fallen apart. Just wondering anyone who ordered last time that it said free shipping, did they tack on a shipping charge when it came payment time?

So just in case I missed it, when are we paying you? I want to make sure I'm not off gallivanting, lol.
And what will be the plan to pay to cover shipping after stateside delivery?

Reply sent thanks again. If needed for reship, I am in Manitoba Canada R0J 1H0.

If one of you had a business you would pay only GST. For example we (CryptoBoreas) pay 5% import taxes when the shipment is made out to our business name.
I would also like to say that if any of you join anyone else here on the thread on a group buy neither I nor CryptoBoreas would be held responsible for any events that may transpire. I suggest starting your own group buy thread if any of you are serious about putting together a group buy.
Cheers!
Thanks for the tip, yeah I think we just congregated here as Canadians, didn't seem to be enough interest to try and set up a Canadian buy.

I would run a group buy I have done them last feb 2016 but they were out of san fran- usa not hong kong -china 60 for 43000 + 2000 + 1500 = 46500 this is 775. I am in NJ ,USA reship would be 25 to 50 in usa maybe 125 to europe so 800-825 in the USA 900 in europe I can build rasp pi's for 65 so do the math 825 usa no rasp pi 900 europe no rasp pi 890 with a rasp pi usa 965 with a rasp pi europe those are break even numbers > I am not a greedy pig and would not mark up like ebay but I would want to earn some money as it is a lot of work. we also run into btc price up price down issues. I certainly won't be doing it until Sept 12th or later. I may write a thread in group buy section on tues the 5th once my aug 6 unit comes in. Phillip if you are doing a group buy, send me a mail at steve@canaan.ioI will do something special for you and the guys here. I need to check on some details, but hit me up It seems the priority for Canaan will be on the big orders... So sad for all of us, who are waiting for weeks just for BTC address... For almost a week after the last batch, I have not seen even a single guy to post here, on FB or Twitter, that he has received payment details(BTC address). Not a single guy! my august 6th order is due tomorrow. my august 31st order does not have a btc address. the group buy while it has attracted attention and has about 82 units or more has not reached the stage of exact pricing and it may never get off the ground. my email talks with steve are moving along in the right direction but have not fully solidified. I will see what happens with it but frankly it is really hard to buy gear for btc mining. I'm sure everyone myself included appreciates the work you are putting in, who knows what will happen first. Half of us have orders in so maybe we get an address, or maybe they do what they did to you in August and jump a few people and try and get the 60 units sold. Either way thanks for trying to get us a 2nd option, in an industry that doesn't provide many. Personally I'm still rooting for my original order as I'm sure it will be a bit cheaper considering the reship from the US to Canada.

That was Canadian, using the numbers from the canaan site for estimated shipping and todays exchange. Also a CBSA calculator which estimated around 6900 for duties and taxes, it does note that as personal use so i'm not sure what they would say about a group of personal users. Not bad but it doesn't look like we are close enough to 60 to make it happen.
I've also never set one of these up before so maybe I'm missing something.

What about a 60-pack?
They just added two bulk buy options.
I was just crunching some numbers and based on the CSBA calculator I could get a pallet into Manitoba, and shipped to canadian addresses for approximately 1060-1100. Not to bad if there were enough Canadians we could get together.

Hi there,
Did anyone get an address? All I got was the option to hit pay on the website again and another auto e-mail, to replay or create another ticket, but I didn't do it this time as that would be the 4th. I'm order # 89499, I'll post if I get a payment address tonight.
Side note for Steven Mosher, could you pass along to the right person, to try and limit the # of auto correspondences sent out in relation to an order. I just found it to be confusing and probably a heavy load on your system as I didn't realize it opened a new support ticket every time I was responding until the 3rd one. Thanks for the help and keeping the group up to date, I appreciate it as it definitely calms the nerves and helps with being patient.
