3621  Other / Meta / Re: What is the function of the "Merit" score? on: May 01, 2018, 11:14:45 PM
How do i earn merit ? It's really hard to earn them and people usually don't merit me . What are the odds of people gifting me merit, no matter how good the post is ?

I wouldn't take those odds and I enjoy a good gamble.

Your posts will need to be "good" at least in the eyes of a potential meriter. You will also want to make sure you are on topic in the thread, just because Merit is in the title doesn't mean it is the place to ask about merit.

You need to figure out why you want Merit, is it just to make more money from your signature campaign? If so you will never get there. There are a few threads that try to give you an idea, most of them center around putting in effort to become better than you are. Not meant to be rude but you need to develop enough knowledge to contribute to a conversation or even help someone. You may also try and check out your local board, I know the posts don't count for your Sig but there is a better chance of you posting something meaningful in your native tongue.

You can start here for a guide

3622  Other / Meta / Re: Off topic has been inactive for 3 months. on: May 01, 2018, 11:08:55 PM
Not sure if they are trying to revive it.

I noticed most of the threads related to reviewing posts for Merit have been moved there in the last day or so. It may just be the posts that were in the Service section of the Marketplace; not sure.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2386296.msg24382674#msg24382674I had merit available and merited this post in particular because it is a huge help to miners. The OP put in a lot of effort and shared their findings and methods with the community
3625  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer T9+ problem-hash rate drops on: May 01, 2018, 04:48:30 PM
So after some back and forth  with Bitmain I have been given permission to open up the miner without voiding my warranty. I don't have the photos or anything yet, but I will document the troubleshooting and eventual solve of this issue hopefully. I will edit this post once done with a link to that thread.

Short story is it's likely a hardware issue.
3626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Looking for resources to learn about GPU mining on: May 01, 2018, 04:16:55 PM
I'm wondering if anyone has a good resource to learn more about GPU mining commands and settings. I just got into GPU mining this year and have so much to learn I don't know everything I don't know  Tongue

I'm not looking for the generic plug and play walkthrough. I have already done that and have a rig up and operating. I have watched videos about how to OC and undervolt settings on the cards themselves, and have performed BIOS mods. I would still be open to more info about these as well.

What I would like to do is hone my skills and knowledge in regards to running different miners, playing around with commands and understanding what I'm actually doing.

Thanks in advance for anything you have.
3627  Other / Meta / Re: suggestion: sort replies by merit on: May 01, 2018, 02:11:04 PM
Instead of using the Merit system to identify the best post, What if we gave the OP a chance to select the best answer. This will not always be perfect but in regards to troubleshooting/setup or help; they can choose the answer that helped them the most. There could also be something tied into Merit to have as a second and third ranked post.

It's not perfect but it's an option.
3628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: TRON (TRX) is going crazy. on: May 01, 2018, 01:16:52 PM
I'm glad to see some upward movement, just about hit my breakeven point.

I resigned myself to a loss on this a few months ago so I'm just going to hold and enjoy the ride.
3629  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I got merits, lots of them - do you want some?? on: April 30, 2018, 10:35:36 PM
Nice clickbait OP Grin God of War Marketing

not clickbait.. I will be handing out merits to those I feel are deserving.. I just need to see some improvements in posting here

I like what you have done it does help people who may want to improve and gives them a place to showcase their ability to learn English. I would point out though that for anyone who doesn't specifically want to improve their English looking to rank up for Sig/Bounty campaigns there is a lot of Merit to be had in the local boards as well.

I will say more power to anyone looking to improve their ability to speak and write a second language. If you have the time try; it will only help you out in life.
3630  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My review of Avalon 841 . on: April 30, 2018, 03:55:45 PM
My biggest concern would really come down to how the Warranty would be affected by running these miners above the stated 30C.

If the numbers at 30C as printed are only for the benefit of showcasing the optimal performance temperature ranges, then I would have no problem with the Miner. My electrical costs could support the increased usage at the higher temperature ranges. I only get maybe 1 day a year above 40C.

I understand though the concerns for others with Margins being slimmer and overall temperatures being warmer longer.

Good job with all the testing, very informative.

*snipped*
resulted  in  1545 watts used vs 1366  at 67f

So  87f = 1545 watts
and 67f = 1366 watts

This means I can not put 20 in my solar array  which will go well into the 90's in the summer.

But even if you run  at 85f  you are eating  150 to 180 extra watts.

To be fair the spec page shows 30c as the max  it also shows a +- 20 %  range which we know know is dependent on heat in your mining room.

3631  Other / Off-topic / Re: [Merit Review] For Support/Troubleshooting posts - Read OP before posting on: April 30, 2018, 03:24:07 AM

Read Op and resubmit after enough time has lapsed, time starts from the day you posted.
I will no longer be looking into posts that break submission rules.

So we can submit only one post for a review?

correct, next time just submit a link to the post as it keeps the thread legible the thread.

Honestly it sounds like you know what you are talking about but it's out of my depth. I did look back through your posts but nothing really jumped out at me. Feel free to resubmit, please continue to focus on helping people in the Forum.
3632  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: April 30, 2018, 03:17:08 AM
has anyone attempted to run a 741 in a chain with a few 841s?

does the firmware make this impossible? I seemed to recall people mixing 6s/7s

thanks

I haven't run this setup. Most people just go with a second Pi for the cost versus potential issues/ lost feature.

Here is a post that explains things pretty well.
3633  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your political orientation? on: April 29, 2018, 03:58:33 AM

It's rather interesting to see how the quiz works as you have gotten a 75% on Liberty, while Theymos and myself were rated at around 62-57%.

Having very limited insight into your own views, and only slightly more info regarding Theymos. I would say it has more to do with the questions than anything. While I have operated in various roles through a number of different unregulated markets; the leanings make sense to me. However had they asked the right questions they would have found my limits; which in turn may have brought that down somewhat.

Although I think I take the protecting personal property to a whole new level. I recently tracked a thief from my home about 2 KM, thanks to freshly fallen snow to retrieve a 5 year old weather worn toboggan that my family had forgotten to take while leaving town for a few days. I came back from night shift and instead of the much needed sleep embarked on my personal mission. I have also never had a property I didn't build a fence around immediately; and generally 6 IN above limits. I know such a badass; and I switched between metric and imperial.

Wasn't really surprised by the results (which I guess is a good thing). In terms of civil liberties, I generally don't mind (as in I don't want it to be illegal; I might complain about it though) what you do as long as it doesn't harm others, also known as the world renowned "who gives a fuck" approach. As for my economic "policy", I'm for a society that doesn't stifle the successful (fair tax rates, non-overbearing regulations, etc.) but protects it's most vulnerable. A death of a person who didn't do anything wrong (didn't threaten the health or safety of other individuals) due to an inability to satisfy his / hers basic needs should be considered a failure of the system, not an inevitability. I'm not even advocating for a large social safety net - just the ability for every law-abiding citizen to exist (unemployment benefits so long as he's capable and looking for work, basic free housing and food stamps for the people who can't afford food and rent, free healthcare) and if he / she wants, the possibility to work towards a better life for him / her self (free basic education, completely free higher education for the well performing, smaller taxes for people with low income).

I thoroughly distrust corporations as they time and time again have shown to only act in their own self interest (profit) above all else (the well being of the consumers, workers, the environment, etc.) unless restricted from doing so via government regulations.

I didn't intend on quoting so much of your response. It started with 1 or 2 lines and then quickly became a matter of I can't cut that. I read it I was surprised by how many of those views are how I've described myself to others. Thanks for putting it into better words than I would have.
3634  Other / Meta / Re: Where can I find new members to award with merits on: April 27, 2018, 10:57:47 AM
I thought that the 'secret thread' was actually the Meta board. Smiley

Touche

I figured out why you can't find them there; they are all camouflaged behind their alts.  Grin

3635  Other / Meta / Re: How can you know the reason of banned? on: April 27, 2018, 09:35:03 AM
I may be mistaken but you will have received a perma ban.

This likely came from my reporting you or someone else doing the same; for plagiarism.

Here is where I documented your copy/pasting.

3637  Other / Meta / Re: Where can I find new members to award with merits on: April 27, 2018, 09:04:47 AM
Didn't anyone tell you guys all those meritable folks are hanging out together in that new super secret thread... Can't believe they forgot to invite the people with Merit.

Sadly that doesn't exist. My only suggestion is twofold in helping disperse your merit and grow your ignore list. Click on a random profile scroll there posts and see where it leads you. Maybe they get merit maybe they get ignored or maybe they fall into that middle ground like a waiter/waitress who spilled a drink on your buddy, but got your order right.

It's a twist on my new past time where I creep through peoples trust and click on reference links to see some of the history of BTC talk.

I was going to create and link a locked off topic thread with nothing but a meme, but I'm sick of getting the It departments attention at work.
3638  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your political orientation? on: April 27, 2018, 08:44:30 AM
Can't say that I am surprised at all by my results. I have always been pretty firm in my social and political beliefs, mostly because I formed them myself not so much based on what was around me or in my home.

I approached the quiz like any other that is meant to determine/categorize your traits. I read it and chose the first button that I felt was right; even if as I went to click it I began to have doubts. I'm a firm believer in your first thought/feeling is your true response.

I had to laugh because quite a few of the options did fall well within why I got involved with BTC, but the beauty there is it is many different things to many different people as we can see.

Personally I think there will be many more Capitalists that pop up these days. More on a gut feeling that in the last year people have seen this as a free market/gold rush opportunity.

Thanks for the topic, quiz was fun. I'll be checking back to see how others fare, if they post it.

3639  Other / Off-topic / Re: [Merit Review] For Support/Troubleshooting posts - Read OP before posting on: April 27, 2018, 01:48:04 AM

You have broken a submission rule in OP; this tells me you do not read the thread before posting.

Also I did take a look at the posts and they are not what I'm looking to provide Merit. 1 of them is in a signature campaign that screwed you guys over. Not really useful to the community at large.

The second submission more so just provides false hope and asks questions that had already been answered.

Feel free to apply again following the rules in the OP; including how far apart you can apply. Please bring useful posts as I'm not planning on just giving Merit where it is not deserved
3640  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [145+PH] KanoPool kano.is 7 BTC giveaway 🐈 US,NL,JP,NYA,DE,SG on: April 26, 2018, 09:32:41 AM

Np and thank you. I just hope we don't get another 8.5% increase.

Here is the site I tend to go to when checking... although I tend to not check to much these days as I've realized it is what it is.

So at this time 135 blocks to go and looks like a 6.14% increase.
