Which side is suppose to intake and which side is suppose to be exhaust on avalon? Is the fan suppose to pull through the unit or push air through the unit? Because mine blows hot air out the side the fan is on.
That sounds right, the fans pull the air through the unit and exhaust the air on the side the fan is mounted. In the side the cables are connected Out the side the fan is mounted

I did a quick check for you and on the bitmain site it says the D3 pulls about 1200W, so that would explain the 24 amps per circuit with 4. 1200/208=5.769 *4= 23.07 close enough
I'm no electrician but that is a long run of wire and when in doubt it is a good idea to go overboard on your safety factor; especially with equipment that runs full out 24/7
Did you have an electrician wire up the space for you? if not might be a good idea to have one come in and give you some guidelines, or even your utility company. This is much larger than anything I've dealt with.
Side note, your post would be better placed in the ALT COIN section, as it doesn't deal with bitcoin miners.
Kind of a grey area what with it being more of an electrical wiring question.

@ Kano I stumbled across this post about the Russian Canaan distributor already advertising the sale of the A8. Seems like a typo to me, but seeing as you saw the prototype do you have any thoughts; if you can elaborate. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2445506.100The picture is clearly the 741, and the power consumption are identical to the 741. Also side note, I did have to leave the pool unfortunately I needed a steadier payout, but was grateful for the the 5ND, even though it was going to be a long ramp up for me to reach the full level, when you guys hit a few blocks I got a nice payout at around the 4TH level. Super grateful for the pool, and if I can get to a point where I can wait it out I will come back. Also Please feel free to keep my dust payments, they aren't much but consider them a donation. I feel it only makes sense considering I got paid after leaving the pool, thanks to your 5ND set up. Congrats on attracting more hashrate.

Hey there, I will give it a try for you, I will update if I can get a confirmation that it worked. I'm on a night shift so I can try for the next few hours if it doesn't work the first time. I'll update you.
EDIT: Looks like you are confirmed, it got picked up while I was trying, but it wasn't me

I'm guessing it's a typo, as I checked the page and the photo is of a 741. You can see it clearly if you select the 2nd picture and zoom in. Also they haven't even released the specs through official channels from Canaan, which they had talked about having out sometime around now. Also it looks like the power consumption is still at 1150 W, Not sure because my Russian is non existent, lol

I noticed you said you are going to send the exhaust up to the attic. What is your setup in the attic, if you can set your miners up in the attic pointing towards the exhaust fan you wont have to worry about ducting. If you are going to go with the ducting route, here was a thread that came up with some good solutions. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2258553.msg22887057#msg22887057

I've been trying to purchase an Avalon 741, but as it is out of stock pretty much everywhere I made in order from Amazon where it is temporarily out of stock and won't charge me until it ships, whenever that may be. I was looking on Alibaba though, and I found some going for around $1,000, which is quite a good deal it seems even after expensive shipping from China. My question is, has anyone had any experience ordering one of these on Alibaba before? I know there can be scams there, but the vendors I was looking at accept credit cards. I assume that if I got scammed I could just do a chargeback, right? It almost seems too good to be true since they are hard to find elsewhere, which makes me a bit nervous.
I can't speak to what your credit card will do for chargebacks, better check with them. I personally try to only buy from the distributors or you can try the marketplace here on the forum. That would be a really good deal though considering the A7's went through another price increase recently. I noticed on the Canaan page they are up to 1200. The other side of the huge increase in BTC price. https://canaan.io/shop/

Just wanted to check, I know you said your PDU has 15 amp breakers for each of the 4 outlets, but what is it's total rating for amps for the PDU, and for each branch?
I would hate to see you get the wiring set and everything else just to find out you need additional set up materials.
Also is that the only AL left in your house? I love finding little left over surprises like that, my century house is full of them.
Good luck

Hey just a few things, first if you dig around a little on the forum you will find all your answers. Here is a link to some soundproofing a forum member built for Asic miners. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2245487.0It helps cut down on some noise. Other than that I heard the antminer R4 I believe was a quiet miner buit for home but for home miners, but it was plagued with problems and is no longer in production. You may find a used one. Also a 500$ budget wont get you far with hardware that will produce a profit; especially with the boom going on now. Try the marketplace or your local buy and sells. You can look into other mining options in the alt coin section, or look into buying and holding coins, with that kind of budget. You also might want to do a quick google search on nicehash, as they are going through some 62 million issues at the moment. Good luck, and explore the forum

Any more in stock soon? or sold out forever?
As we are a official distributor we get monthly stock. Next one late december. No pre-orders right now. So just to weigh my options, because the North American distributors will have nothing for the foreseeable future. What would the expected cost be to order to Canada. I saw some posts about VAT being taken off the price if you are a non EU customer? I expect shipping to be higher, but probably not so high I would have to say no, lol. Just looking for ballpark really, as I don't want to bog down your site when you do get stock.

Baaammm BTW: is there any german miner active here? I'm still searchin for a serious seller in germany for antminer or avalons. I bought one s9 over antminerdistribution.eu which worked really smooth earlier in this year for about 1700€. but actually it looks like nobody is selling any serious mining hardware in germany. Antminer that costs 3000€ and much more is a freakin high price. and these are mostly just pre-order stuff. HELP!!! You just missed out in the Avalon 741 sales that cryptouniverse had. They are the official Canaan distributor in Europe. Here is a link to their thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2445506.0

Hi not looking to hijack the thread,
I'm also looking into building my first Rig and have everything specd out.
Where I'm stuck is should I get the 8gb GPU's or 4. I read somewhere about the ethereum platform reaching a size that will require something bigger than 4 in the near future?
Is this a problem I need to worry about with other Alt's. Is it something I need to worry about anyways?
Pro's/Cons
Thanks you

Hi there,
I just wanted to double check, are you sure your dryer plug is wired for 110V. Most are wired up as a 220V circuit. If your not sure how to check, look at the panel, if it is a double breaker and takes up 2 panel spots.
I second the idea of setting up with a PDU, but would also suggest, maybe wiring in another circuit dedicates to mining, if your original circuit isn't 220V.
Also I would suggest getting a PSU that is rated to handle the load. This problem would also be solved by using a 220 V circuit for your mining. A lot of the problems I see on here are people coming to close to their PSU output and the Miners either not powering on or shutting down.

Has anyone seen oscillation in the 741 temperature/hashrate? Meaning that hashrate creeps up over time to some point at which the temperature spikes, causing the fan to peg to 100% and HW errors backing down the hashrate.. Then it repeats. The one I'm looking at has a freakout about every 30 minutes. Voltage offset is -2, frequency is nominally 702MHz and hashrate about 7.2T.
I remember Steve from Canaan, talking about the way the miner hashes causing it to oscillate sort of like that. If the chips can they work harder to a certain point, and then when the failures/rejects start to climb it ramps back down. I don't remember it really tying into temps to much, but if it is overheating you would probably get the same result. What are your temps like on the Miner status? What is the rooms ambient temperature? Is there a reason you went with -2 offset? My 741's have a pretty wide range in hashrate between the 2 of them but at 0 they average out to about 7.8 TH/S
yeah that could be the issue the fan is pointed wrong
Glad you found the issue, it seems a few have snuck through QC, I guess in a Data center the airflow must be enough to keep them running cool

If you haven't already bought your psu. Why not consider buying 1 psu to power the whole machine. You can get them from parallelminer, or I get mine from Amitylabs they have an ebay store. They are better quality psu's for mining

This is common. It's just how they run. Not sure of the exact reason but as long as the leds go back to normal you are fine. Mine do it sporadically as well
