It looks like you registered the account in November 2017, but only began actively posting at the beginning of March.

If I remember correctly you need to post at least once in a 14 day period to get your 14 activity for that 2 week period. The ins and outs are explained here.

I wanted to give another go at it. Last time you felt my troubleshooting posts should have been Merited by OP's; I agree but alas doesn't always happen. You did want to Merit the last one but where unable to.

I've tried to branch out a bit. Thanks again for the service.

Am I dreaming or Bitmain added 1000 bucks to E3 miner?  Huh
No I had to laugh as I was talking to someone about them and then checked; if I hadn't remembered you picking one up I would have thought it was just me. That's what happens when they sell out in minutes, throw a 1 in front of it,  Grin

3705  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: $1,200 of Import Fees? on: April 09, 2018, 08:15:34 AM
If you live near the customs office then yes go and try to clear it yourself, but that would only take care of the fee DHL charges to operate as your broker.

You will still have to pay whatever the Duty and taxes are for importing to your state. Regardless that seems reasonable on a $40 000 order; it's 3% of the value.

It is so refreshing to be on a pool where transparency is the normal mode of operation...everyday.  Thank you Kano!

but I do agree it's awesome always knowing what is happening here. Glad I'm in it for the long haul
3707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can FUD destroy bitcoin? on: April 09, 2018, 06:35:51 AM
I don't think so.

All FUD can do is inhibit it's growth. It might destroy business structures that center around the use of BTC; maybe even set it back years in terms of acceptance and adoption.

Look at the recent rally last year, despite prices currently sitting roughly 7x higher than last year, some people got burned in the FOMO. Now all you hear in the media is how it was a bubble, it can't possibly work as a currency...blah blah blah.

These types of comments will stop some from becoming adopters or wanting to get involved; but it won't destroy a community of early to mid adopters who believe in the ideology of a decentralized system. Hell even if they don't believe in that ideology they can see a working and thriving ecosystem.
3708  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Does the Media Keep Referring to Ver as "Bitcoin Jesus"? on: April 09, 2018, 06:28:48 AM
Good luck removing his Title.

I got into Crypto last June and fell for his spiel. The problem is he is vocal and visible. He tells a good tale all the while coming across as sincere in his effort to save bitcoin from the sinister forces trying to ruin it.

Sadly I mined at his pool for far to long before I found this forum and really opened my eyes as to what a big mistake I had been making.

He plays the game better than the community does, he uses social media, media and paid ad promotion to make sure he is the loudest and most visible face of BTC. Even now who out there is vocally challenging him and his views with even a fraction of the impact his words have?

I'm just glad I was able to break away from the sheeple long enough to find a better way.

I see many quality post here but didn't have a merit. As I can say the problem will be the members who are not participating the purpose of the merit system

??...Does this mean you wanted to Merit some of the "many" quality posts here??

All of the members could still rank up they just have to prove that they are worth it,
They just have to prove that they aren't one of those spammer's who are just spamming nonsense in this forum.

Such as yourself with 2 posts in a row mostly spouting non sense. I really have to stop opening these threads

Quote
And I think if their comment, thread or post is really informative or helpful there would be a forum member that would surely give them a merit.

That is the central idea behind the system, probably stated 30-50  200-300 times in this thread before you did.

Nice thanks for sharing, placing this in a hot climate with access to a decently clean water supply would be great.

Not sure where your attempt at off the grid power is but a nice rain catch reservoir would add another bump in utility savings. I guess it depends on the type of heat exchanger they are using, if it's shell and tube you can get away with a lower quality of water. A plate exchanger not so much the water path tends to get fouled up quickly.

Good luck
3713  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Overt AsicBoost Released today? on: April 08, 2018, 03:39:27 AM

*Snip*
The issue here instead is that should any company choose to leave the BDPL, they remain obliged to license their patents to BDPL users for free, while the BDPL users would then be allowed to impose additional terms on the leaving companies for their continued use of BDPL patents. This isn't just unfair, it's extortion.

I completely agree with what you are saying, was just speculating on ways things could play out. The overall contract implied here doesn't represent a balanced trade, nor do the implications of backing out of the agreement hold a fair "punishment" for exiting the agreement. These items would have to be addressed in detail before entering the agreement.

I can't imagine why any company would sign into this agreement anyways but if they were so inclined; there would need to be a level of openness prior to releasing all your patents. For example this Asicboost, it's still early but given what I've been reading it still isn't performing as expected (Though not enough samples are in the wild to confirm this). If it doesn't live up to expectation any other party should be able to walk away with their patent rights.

Prior to openly pledging support there should also be a set fee structure in place for what you would have to pay to use any of the competitors patents. At the same time each of these companies should be able to limit how long you have free access to their "original" patents should they walk away; as well as you retaining free access to all patents you brought to the table in the first place.

Overall it's a terrible system set up to create an oligarchy instead of using competition to drive innovation. These companies will dictate among themselves the marketshare for each and will pummel any small outside producer who try's to break into the system.

Can you imagine these companies locked into this for the long haul this early into the life of Bitcoin?
3714  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Preventing rust on the Antminer S9 on: April 07, 2018, 12:04:00 PM

Those deciccents are far weaker than dehumidifiers and u have to get rid of the moisture they absorb by heating them later on. The moisture is released in the air when u heat them.

Yes they are not as effective as a dehumidifier, but OP did not feel a dehumidifier was the best for their setup.

The idea of the moisture being released into the air is the point I brough tup about "regenerating" the desiccant. When it becomes saturated you would move it to the "hot" side of the farm. Using the discharge air to remove moisture along with the heat. So the practicwe would be to have 2 or 3 sets of desiccant that can be swapped out as needed. This provides for a continuous cycle with no extra power consumption.

It's just an idea, I haven't needed it because I do not deal with that level of humidity.

You do NOT have to run your entire inlet airstream THROUGH a dehumidifier for it to be effective - just have it AT the intake area to soak up enough of the humidity to reduce it enough to keep stuff from rusting.

This is an excellent point.
3715  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [11.2kW SOLAR/WIND/MAN] NastyMining Green Energy Project ☀️💨💪🔋 on: April 07, 2018, 11:34:34 AM

The system I'm looking at uses a water line to cool the oil in a heat transfer unit.

Would you be running a cold water line coil through the oil tank on it's way to say your hot water tank? Or I guess more likely through an oil reservoir tank that cycles through the individual cooling tanks?

I just started following the thread and have some back reading to do but I love the idea of using all the energy and reducing it wherever you can.
3716  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [H] $981 BTC Looking for PP on: April 07, 2018, 10:55:21 AM

Obviously, it goes without saying that if you're accepting PP (reversible) as a payment option for your crypto (non-reversible) transaction, then you should only deal with reputable buyers who have positive trust ratings.

I've seen too many users here get scammed by working out deals in private, as well, so try to use this thread for transparency. And lastly, don't be impatient. Always assume that someone is out to screw you.

Just want to point out both sides to how the scam can work. Sadly this was how I jumped back into crypto.

Paid for BTC via paypal (my saving grace was that I used a credit card) They did not send the BTC and I realized I had been scammed. Paypal then told me I wasn't covered under buyer protection despite using "goods and services" for buying digital currency( might not have been the wording this was almost a year ago)

My credit card company did refund me, and I'm sure the scammers were never found.

3717  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Overt AsicBoost Released today? on: April 07, 2018, 08:31:54 AM

I disagree. Halong's method of choice for patenting their implementation of AsicBoost — the Blockchain Defensive Patent License (BDPL) — actually sets the stage for further centralization of mining technology, and not the converse as advertised by Halong and the BDPL's website.

Under the first question of the BDPL website's FAQ page — "How do you benefit by using the BDPL?" —

I have 2 things I find funny here.
1) It definitely screws over the companies that have poured a massive amount of time and effort into their R&D at first. This is done by providing the new guy with all your secrets; this just isn't done anywhere.
So I don't know why BDPL, thinks it needs to be implemented in this environment specifically to "democratize" blockchain technology.

Really though at a certain point your trade secrets are stolen on the first models that ship to the world. It's tore down and reverse engineered and changed just enough to avoid a lawsuit.

2) In the end this up and coming company then proceeds to strive for continual improvement investing their funds into R&D. Now the older companies can effectively sit on their heels and let the new patents pour in. It's not a great long term strategy but if someone else is going to put in the work and you already have the "Brand power" to coast why wouldn't you.
This is the outcome I would expect from the given example of a company choosing to leave; as opposed to them paying to use Patents they didn't deem worthy on the off chance the next development is better.

Overall short term it's a no brainer for Halong to pledge their patents; access to all those secrets for the cost of only a few words.

Much like communism being great in theory; this is an idea that on paper seems great but is a legal and logistical nightmare that isn't worth the headache for larger established companies.
The best case scenario for this project would be the smaller ASIC producers joining, and thus helping themselves push advancements and creating their own "Brand Power" to chisel more of the market share in their favor.

Thanks for the new topics to read up on gave me something to do this evening.

Too bad you didnt have my luck. My electrical company has only billed 2900 kwh since dec 8th.  I have been at about 7500 kwh per month. one month was at 8400.  They didnt bill me becuase the power company said it was high, so they estimated, sent someone to my door to investigate, i told her off, nosey Biatch!  The power company confirmed with me the readings were accurate, then they sent them to the retailer, then the retailer didnt want to bill it becuase there is no way that I could of used  17000 kwh in 28 days according to their readings.  So now they are going to go back and "pro rate" my usage.  Ironically the  cost per kwh has gone up slowly, where do you think the most of the usage will end up according to their calculation...  gee I wonder..

So yes, Dec 8. til April 8, 4 months all I have been billed is 2900 kwh, when it should total to about 25 000 kwh.   1750 cnd Bux!  Thats going to be a nice bill when I get it.  I'll ask for time to pay. :-)

It would be even better if they threw the bill at you in the winter when they can't legally disconnect your power, (atleast my crown corporation can't)

Either way they are coming for their money lol. You should "plant" random electrical supplies and a few busted lights and say it was them damn pop up pot growers stealing your power. Wink
3719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What would cause a rig to turn on and off? on: April 07, 2018, 06:07:19 AM
If you are using Windows 10 this is what I used when I set up my first rig.

https://www.windowscentral.com/how-stop-updates-installing-automatically-windows-10

It was advised by the how to videos I watched when setting up. My rig now runs steady without issue. Changing these settings gives you the option to manually accept the updates.

Good luck
3720  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Concern on: April 07, 2018, 05:48:23 AM

As of now, many users are down or disappointed in this merit system because lack of attention in the forum, as you can see many users are suffering how to make some constructive post or making a good post to gain some merit and to be ranked up, up to Member or higher than that. As I follow some other ICO's or projects are currently hiring a member ranked or higher that, then what happen to the jr.member? They have been stuck because they trying to give there best to make a constructive post and not giving them an attention.

The problem doesn't lie in struggling to make constructive posts the problem is in putting forth the effort to learn enough to make a contribution to the forum that people find constructive.
They are free to post in local boards until such a time that the poster can make a coherent English sentence, it doesn't have to be perfect but should get the idea across.
Also if the Junior member is just here to "earn" then they will be stuck where they belong. Earning here is a privilege not a right.

Quote
As I can see the merit system problem is lack of sendable merit, you can earn merit by meriting your post right, then what happen is when that users is not gaining.

This is designed to allow the Merit system to outlive it's initial launch. Other than Merit sources you will need to be deemed a quality poster by the community to have the privilege to send out merit. You can always nominate someone else in the threads offering Merit for quality if you really think they deserve it

Quote
Also about who are now in the higher ranked some other users are kind and give some sendable merit to the other users also, but I must say that focus to the users who are posting constructive post or contributer in this forum not the one who are famous users who are merited most.

I think you are trying to say that the higher ranked members should be sending Merits to lower ranked members??? If so they do when they feel a post has earned it. They also send it to high ranked members. That's the system at play, if anyone feels a post is "quality" in their mind then they can send Merit.

Edit: I actually don't know what you're trying to say. After re-reading your post, it's not really a whiny one, but rather... You're trying to give advice to others? I actually have no idea what you're trying to say.

I broke it down into parts and went with what I thought they meant. No one but OP really know what they meant and it will probably be a while before they can clearly explain it to us
