3661  Other / Meta / Re: Blatantly selling Merit on: April 21, 2018, 07:08:58 PM
That's really stupid. Why would anybody buy 1,000 merits, unless they had an account farm. I can just see a Junior getting 1,000 merits to jump to Legendary. Perhaps they give free activitty with it as well. Smiley

The activity comes in the follow up email while your waiting for the merit transfer. They hit you with the send more BTC and I'll boost your activity lol.

I'd like to see a brand new, no post, 1000 Merit Grin
3662  Other / Meta / Re: Remove signatures on: April 21, 2018, 07:07:09 PM
Did you really just read this post in the other thread and decide this was your moment.

*slow clap*

3663  Other / Meta / Blatantly selling Merit on: April 21, 2018, 06:43:27 PM
So this is likely just a scam, or they have an alt account with Merit to sell.

Either way here is the link.

User already has red trust. Not sure if this is the kinda thing that gets a permaban/nuke.

Also reported to MODS.

Let me know if there is no need for this thread I'll lock it and let it drift into oblivion.

EDIT: Fixed spelling in title
3664  Other / Meta / Re: My friend introduce me to btc. At first I was hesitant..... on: April 21, 2018, 06:07:18 PM
I read the title and was like " what the f*** is going on"

Then I figured some alt/or someone you blackballed found your first forum post or something and was throwing you under the bus.

I actually think people out there are running "call spam centers" hiring locals for pennies a day to log in and use their "scripted responses" and just type away all day long.

At first I was hesistant on this theory; but then the business model made sense when my friend introduced it to me.

* I demand 40% of any spam center that takes my business model.
3665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [crime] Thumbs up for the balls it takes, thumbs down for being a dirty thief on: April 21, 2018, 04:58:47 PM
To me it sounds lie you are trying to collect information on the real douchbags, the government scum that is taking over control of the earth

No just trying to have a discussion, or create one. I found this interesting sorry you didn't...did?? can't really tell through the tinfoil hat

Again not sure what you are trying to get at; I don't recall asking any information about the government PSSST....They are reading your thoughts. Either way I'm pretty sure governments currently have some control over the earth as it is; so maybe you meant losing control??? Again I have no idea

I hope you learn nothing

Your post succeeded in this so points for you. I'll try and break out my tinfoil hat translator next time. They just uploaded into your brain while you scratched your head...Don't Panic

3666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / [crime] Thumbs up for the balls it takes, thumbs down for being a dirty thief on: April 21, 2018, 02:19:26 PM
So I wanted to talk about the new face of bitcoin crime. Sindri Thor Steffanson the face of "The Bitcoin 11"* caught my attention when it was announced he escaped prison, boarded the same flight as the prime minister of Iceland while using a fake passport. Shocked Then poof buddy is gone. I use the term escaped lightly as he pretty much just walked off the grounds of his fenceless minimum security prison; because why not.

What is super interesting is he was 1 of only 2 people that were ordered to remain in custody. Now for the part about the loot. We are used to hearing about hackers/scammers and other douchery in general; but this team was bold.

In this financial ecosystem they chose to steal the physical item: 600 miners... I have no idea what style, I would assume s9's considering the heists... yeah plural 4 total took place in December 2017 and January 2018. At the time of this post  the police do not have any leads on the equipment but are hoping the group is dumb enough to plug them in and essentially send out a beacon of electrical consumption... just like a grow op. Has anyone bought some ridiculously cheap hardware from northern Europe??  Roll Eyes

So I'm wondering does anyone know any more about this heist, parties affected, types of miners, or any other facts in general? Have your own story to add by all means post away. I myself am still just amazed at the crime itself of 4 heists before getting caught and then the escape.

*Thought of that one myself... I so witty. Tongue

Best description of original heists

The escape

EDIT: Not doing an investigation, just looking to discuss this as it interested me.
3667  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Selling 4 x 450$ and 2 X 400$ Bitmain coupons. on: April 21, 2018, 01:41:31 PM
Are you accepting forum escrow? There have been a lot of scams centered around these coupons lately.

If you are it is good to state it in your ad.
3668  Other / Off-topic / Re: sMerit Post-Review on: April 20, 2018, 06:46:01 PM
Thanks for saving me the time. Now I don't even have to open their submissions. I'm assuming you've posted this in the plagiarism thread, or should I go ahead and do that for you?

Vergel24 posted a copy/paste in my review thread. Darkstar pointed it out to me, so I reported to MOD at the original post and referenced Darkstars findings in my thread.
3669  Other / Off-topic / Re: [Merit Review] For Support/Troubleshooting posts - Read OP before posting on: April 20, 2018, 05:59:03 PM

It appears to be a copy and paste. Here's an archive of the post.

Copied from one of the comments: http://imperiya.by/video/Iw8ki85OZ_T/Who-Really-Controls-Bitcoin.html

Good catch I hadn't thought to investigate these posts further. I'm glad I didn't compliment them on their ability to put together a decently written post.

Do you have a thread; or have you already reported this? I will leave your post available on this thread for a reference point.

EDIT: Reported post to Mod at original post with reference to your findings here. Thank you Darkstar.
3670  Other / Off-topic / Re: [Merit Review] For Support/Troubleshooting posts - Read OP before posting on: April 20, 2018, 05:49:07 PM

Quoted for reference.

This post will not receive Merit from me as it's not inline with what I am looking for.

It is also a post on the 15th page of a thread which surely had more than enough answers. You would do well to read and understand OP before submitting again.
I will also delete your initial submission as it was not inline with what was requested in this thread.
3671  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 5x Bitmain Antminer S9 (NEW IN BOX) 13.5TH/s - $1,199 on: April 20, 2018, 04:46:37 PM
While it is a slow time to sell Miners right now this might help you get some buyers.

Post photos with a piece of paper. On the paper include the date and your forum username. You might want to open the box just to show the units exist.

EDIT: Based on response below. I understand where you are coming from in regards to opening the box. Anything you can provide does go a long way to help validate the items. It is good that you are already offering escrow. Good luck with the sales

3672  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: I'm selling mining gpu. on: April 20, 2018, 04:33:44 PM
So to be clear for anyone who is planning on buying.

Are you offering Forum escrow? This would involve the funds being held until the items are delivered to prevent scams.

Is it your intention to use the funds that a potential buyer sends you to buy the cards?

If that is your plan are you going to accept Paypal goods and services? This way if you do not provide confirmations of orders being placed; or do not deliver the items the buyer is protected.
3673  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Selling Bitmain coupons on: April 20, 2018, 04:26:04 PM

When making trades or purchases through the forum it is wise to use escrow.

Hopefully this works out in the end if not open a scam accusation. Wait a while until you are sure OP isn't just away or busy. Try to keep all communication about the deal such as timelines and promises.
3674  Other / Off-topic / Re: [Merit Review] For Support/Troubleshooting posts - Read OP before posting on: April 20, 2018, 03:03:09 PM
Updates:

Do not PM me requesting Merits.

Should myself or anyone else find anything in/about your posts that violate forum rules they will be reported.

Merit given:
1. User jmigdlc99 for this post
3675  Other / Off-topic / [Merit Review] For Support/Troubleshooting posts - Read OP before posting on: April 20, 2018, 03:02:49 PM
My intention is to spread my 14 merits. My plan is to reward the types of posts that drew me into the forum.
I feel that Miner support and troubleshooting is an under merited segment of posts; not based on fact more an observation/feeling.

What I'm looking for

  • Posts that you made directed to a problem OP has/had
  • Posts that help OP plan out their electrical, cooling, or any other logistical issues related to mining.
  • Posts that relate to troubleshooting OS systems, new miners, monitoring.

Feel free to submit posts along these lines that aren't specifically mentioned but are inline with what has been stated

Rules/Stipulations

For the time being I will only review 1 post per submission.
Do not post within 7 days of your last submission

-The only rank that I will not be providing Merits to is Legendary.   -I will lock the thread when I run out of Merit to provide   -If I am unsure that your post is helpful I will do some research before awarding Merit.
3676  Other / Off-topic / Re: [Merit Review] sMerit Post Review (Running) on: April 20, 2018, 02:00:49 PM
Thanks for the previous review. Here is a new submission.

Whats the reasoning behind a dozen people posting block every time the pool hits one? Makes any real information hard to find and devalues this entire thread a fair bit. It reminds me of people clapping when the plane lands, its just supposed to happen that way.

Something to note is that while there may be 1000's of block posts. If you ask a question  it will be answered. Whether it be behind the scenes of how the pool operates or a general question. The same people that call out block will also come to your aide.

Also have you ever heard "when in Rome"
