4141  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Deliver to Canada on: November 20, 2017, 11:06:51 PM
I don't have a business, so I'm a little fuzzy in the details, I got the info second hand from a hosting facility manager. I'm pretty sure you use your business tax id, either when paying the taxes or the next time you order. Sorry I can't be more help, but try putting a call through to the cbsa.

Good luck
4142  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] AntMiner L3+ S9 S7 D3 on: November 20, 2017, 10:03:02 AM
Don't deal with "Thaibtc" as I sent him $206 usd in his BTC address : 1NQuzoqtw7Mtc8w3xEypVTsD1NA1gFwXxe
on Saturday for Antminer S7, first he promised to ship on Saturday but he didn't.
In short he again promised to ship today morning but after messaging him on his WhatsApp and waited for 5hours or so, he or his colleague break the silence with new story that "Thaibtc got accident and he is in hospital"  Sad
I asked him for refund but he is continuously speaking lie and took time of 24hours for refund.  Angry

BEWARE and Don't send any single penny to this guy

Just wondering did he send you the refund?? It is a little unclear. Sorry to hear things didn't work out.
4143  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Power surges on: November 20, 2017, 09:37:12 AM
I use a whole home surge protector installed at my panel. It costs about 150 CAD, and uses a 30 amp 2 pole breaker, this way if there is a surge everything in the house is protected.
4144  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: A741 Temperature Allow on: November 20, 2017, 02:48:59 AM
I don't really have a certain fan I recommend, before it hit Winter here in Canada, I was running 2 741's in my garage and I was just using a vertical window mount fan exhausting and that seemed to do the trick just fine, but it was a large garage.

https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.thin-black-window-fan.1000803277.html

This is what I was using.

The nice thing is you can fit 2 or more of them in a window if you need to to increase how much air you need to exhaust from the room. They might be nice to use because you also have the GPU rigs adding heat to the space. In this case I would have the miners back about 1 1/2 feet from the window.

I don't know much about the GPU mining so I'm lost on helping with suggestions for that.

If I were just now setting up my 2 Avalon 741's in my garage, similar setup to you, I would place them both very close to the open window (6-12 inches) exhausting out, with a fan blowing towards them and the window.

If you expand further then I would look into getting a larger barrel fan or something to mount on the window itself for exhaust.

Hope that helps.

4145  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I'm considering buying an Antminer S9 - Batch 6 January. Is that normal? on: November 20, 2017, 02:30:03 AM
Sorry I actually misread the post last night, late night shift. The Miner is supposedly new from the most recent batch. That price would be good, but does seem suspicious.

Mostly because anyone with a legit miner in new condition is selling them for 2400-3000$ if not more. Do you know the person offering to sell this or is an internet offering?

Your best bet is to keep some funds available to quickly purchase coins the next time an S9 goes on sale from Bitmain.

I don't know the best place to buy any now, I went a different route and ordered Avalons myself.
4146  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: A741 Temperature Allow on: November 20, 2017, 02:23:08 AM
alright put it to -1 I didn’t really wanna do that because as hot As it was at 0 it was hashing at an average of 9 th/S according to the controller and the daily average on the pool

I have a shop fan behind it and a shop fan on top blowing down I do get a DH if 1% after like 12 hours Idk if that’s normal.

Do you have a window in the area that you are setup, your best option is always to get the exhaust from the miners out of the room.  If you can move them closer to the window and have them exhausting towards it that will help you out tremendously.

If you have just the one 741 you could put all your rigs near the window and use one of your fans as an exhaust fan.

This way your house AC is only working as hard as it normally would be and you won't have to cool the Miner exhaust air.

If there is no window, can you describe the type of room you are mining in, might be able to help with a better idea.

4147  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: November 19, 2017, 01:00:57 PM
It seems very similar to the last email blast they sent out, except that one was for 741's I believe; and what farms/distributors/re sellers anticipated needing. This one seems to be just relating to the new 8 series and what your requirements would be for all the same categories.

Really though anyone who is worried could hold off a day or two before filling out the form, as I'm sure Steve or the Canaan crew would pretty quickly get the word out if this is a Phishing email.
4148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1 GPU faster? on: November 19, 2017, 09:44:58 AM
You are in the wrong place, you should post this in the alt coin section to get help.
4149  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Asic miners now available in Australia on: November 19, 2017, 08:04:40 AM
Good luck, I don't like the idea of the new shop popping up, and accepting only Bitcoin for payment. If anybody lives in Sydney I would go check out the apparent warehouse before making any payment.

They have no phone number, and their contact is a gmail account.

I would say stay clear. Until someone other than a newbie account with posts only promoting this store can confirm a purchase.
4150  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I'm considering buying an Antminer S9 - Batch 6 January. Is that normal? on: November 19, 2017, 05:51:41 AM
I can't speak to the specific batches and what not. You just have to decide if the deal works for you. The miner has about 11 months, plus the burn in period it went through with Bitmain.

Your best bet is to make sure you see it is hashing at full capacity and do your due diligence making sure this is a legit deal. Keep in mind for what you are paying you could order a new S9 for whatever batch they are going to be selling, you just have to wait a 6-8 weeks.

I would personally be trying to get that price down a few 100 dollars.

Good luck
4151  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: A741 Temperature Allow on: November 19, 2017, 03:37:03 AM
A nice range would be keeping your ambient temperature between 15 and 30 C, if you can. I've only been running the units for a few months but I find these are a good range. It allows wiggle room if it warms up a few degrees or also if it cools down. I found my performance dropped off a little when my ambient air got around 5 C, and if it gets over 30 C, my fans are running at 100%, and the outflow reads in the 90's.

I like to see my outflow below 90C because I'm paranoid and like to know I have wiggle room, other things that will affect it is if you have a dusty/buggy environment because this will reduce cooling.

Obviously my numbers are not hard and fast but it's what I'm shooting for for the time being.
4152  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitcoinminers.eu website lists $999 Antminer s9's. How to tell if its legit???? on: November 19, 2017, 03:31:36 AM
I agree.
one compelling thing is this
yesterday they showed 7 power supplies available.
I almost ordered, but you know why i didnt.
This morning they only showed 1 and now they show none available.
Why would they reduce their inventory (its not advertised, its when I go to the cart like im going to checkout) to limit their ability to con me out of money for power supplies (or other products) if they are not going to send the products anyways?
I still hope for someone(s) to tell me of experience with them bad or good. I dont know of a better verification than that??

I did a quick search through scam advisor and this got a high risk 0% trust rating. This with all the other red flags should be enough to make you wait.

I get it, you want to mine, its hard to wait, and even harder to shell out cash and with 6 weeks for a ship date, but its better than losing that cash.

Scammers are getting very clever, especially because it is so simple to create a quick webpage with inventory controls, especially when there is no real inventory, it gives them an air of legitimacy.

Please hold on to your cash, and buy from legitimate retailers, bitmain, Minerwarez, Blockforge, or Ebang. These are direct  for antminer, avalon, and ebit's.

I think there are a couple of legitimate resellers, but the prices are high. I put Blockforge on the list because they are Canaans newest authorized distributor, they also sell Bitmain equipment as a reseller.

Do your research and good luck
4153  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining Room intake fan and filters/logistics on: November 19, 2017, 03:12:38 AM
I can't speak to much to what fan to use, but if you are worried about the rain water and dust you can use a weather hood. It's just like a personalised roof for your air intake, and they can either come with a place for filters or you can easily fab something up to place filters on the hood.

As far as the fan is concerned I would look to see what you can easily find and what the costs are. If an exhaust fan is all you can find then o for it flip it around. If you put a weather hood over it the motor would be protected anyways. Also if you oversize your exhaust fan on the hot side, you could potentially just louver your cold air intake assuming you have enough wall space. You would want to have a lot of leeway with what you provide because the filters will cut down on the airflow coming in.

Just spitballing ideas at you good luck.
4154  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Macbook pro 2015 and 1 Bitmain Antminer 2 GH/s SHA-256 on: November 19, 2017, 02:42:47 AM
It's really not feasible to use that equipment. I don't know much about the usb miners, but I think people mostly buy them as a gimmick or for nostalgia. If you want to get your feet wet without to much of an investment, you should look for something used, Avalon 6, antminer s7. Something like that, depending on your electric you could make a small profit return, but you also need to buy a PSU to run off and get used to the noise.

Or the other option is to buy something new from the current generation and just jump in, you can start with 1, then either grow larger stay the same, either way you will have some hardware you can sell down the road.
4155  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: AVALON 6 CURRENTLY on: November 19, 2017, 02:34:33 AM
gonna be filing a scam report if I don't hear back by monday since they are on these forums

That's crazy I'm sorry to hear about that, no one wants to be sold bunk equipment. I'm kinda floored that they didn't get back to you through their company website. Also wondering how did you find their used equipment for sale?

How did you pay for the units? if it was credit card at least they will offer purchase protection. Hope so, but at least you found them on the forum. Best of luck.
4156  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: A741 Temperature Allow on: November 19, 2017, 02:13:23 AM
What is the 39/91 tempature mean is one ambient and one core?

The way the miner stats show it that is the inflow and outflow temperatures of the Miner air. I always assume they are what the temp is on the board at inflow or outflow, but I can't be sure.

hi All, my A741 is running at Temperature 45-50 / 98 - 100, with 100% fan speed and -1 Power. Anyone know what's the maximum allow for this machine?

What's your temperature ?

OP: You will want to do something to either exhaust the hot air your miner is creating or find a way to introduce cooler air to your miner intake. What is your setup like?

I'm pretty sure the specs call for operating in ambient air not warmer than 40 C.

Good luck
4157  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 741 tempature on: November 18, 2017, 01:33:37 PM
You should post this question in the Avalon 741 Hardware thread there is a ton of useful info there, and a lot of people monitor the thread. For future reference.

 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1673843.0

If you can keep your ambient temperature below 25 - 30 degrees C that is good, but you really want to watch is your exhaust temp on your miner status. Mine were staying around 88 C with no issues.

The specs say they operate between -5 and 40 C.

Just make sure to exhaust the hot air from your Miner.
4158  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can i set an Antminer S1 to plug directly into an outlet? on: November 18, 2017, 01:04:59 PM
So im wanting to 2 S1's and i know that they usually use 450-500w, and i dont want to buy 2 PSU's so i was wandering if there was a way to wire a plug from the S1 so i can plug it into my wall? Sorry if its a dumb question, im just curious   Grin

Ignoring the terrible idea of you burning down your house.

Why not buy 1 PSU to run both of the miners. I did that when I bought my first s5's, I picked up a PSU and ran 3 of them off it.
4159  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer on: November 18, 2017, 01:02:30 PM
This doesn't need another topic started for this.

You can put in minimal research on this forum and find your answers.

You can also google a bitcoin profitability calculator to see for yourself.

4160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCH mining after the November hard fork on: November 18, 2017, 10:18:56 AM
B2x was cancelled last week, don't you read newspapers.

Yes I know that was cancelled. I am referring to the fork that took place on the BCH blockchain.

My mention of 2x, was that all eyes and news was about it, with people paying little to no attention to the BCH fork.
