3862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: So, ETH difficulty went ballistic. on: February 12, 2018, 07:50:51 PM
Difficulty is going up very slow in my opinion.

The difficulty is basically capped to the GPU fabrication which can only produce so much.

If GPUs could be built faster, difficulty would double every few weeks instead of going up 20%

Truer words could not be spoken.

If you look at what is happening with BTC and Asic's eveeryone is pumping them out as fast as they can, and Difficulty has been skyrocketing for the last couple months 20% every 2 weeks. I think the price correction has slowed that down a little but not likely.

That's why I shifted my focus into GPU, I was lazy and avoided it last year because the ease of Asics being plug and play drew me in.

Unfortunately I waited 1 week to long while researching and got stuck in the shortage of cards, but thanks to Newegg, I'm buying 1 card every 3 days and my first one arrives tomorrow.
The plan is a 50/50 sell and hold.

My plan is to push through with some dual mining for the time being and maybe 1 week a month jump on some speculation coins.
3863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: February 12, 2018, 06:21:39 PM
On the Newegg topic,
All I know is address/name are the tipoffs, I created a new account using my rental property 8 hours away with my name did not work. Different credit card with same name did not work.
By the time I got my friend to try and place an order for me they had sold out. My wife also could not order a card to our house with her name and credit card.

What I haven't done is try to use the Canadian site and the American site, to try seperate orders.

I also gave up on trying wasn't worth it, but 11 days in and I have managed to order 4 cards so in another 6 days I should have my 6 GPU's lol. First one arrives tomorrow.

For me the bonus is that I can play around with setting up my first rig 1 card at a time and adding, hopefully by the 6th I've smoothed out the wrinkles.

Lets talk new egg here , seen a few lower priced 580s finnaly , anyone have experince with multiple newegg accounts ?

do they look at the cc and shipping address or just the account if you have say two accounts ? , normally I dont mind buying one every few days

but with the currrent shortage i'd prefer to buy 2 or 3 and then be done with it for a while

Multiple accounts does not work. Whether it's the name or the shipping address I'm not sure but I tried that because they had some reasonably priced 570 8gb cards.

The bright side is they have been releasing them every 3 days so I grab one every time they go up.

This is newegg.ca but I imagine it's the same idea
3865  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reselling Video Cards from Bestbuy on: February 09, 2018, 03:54:08 PM
You are in the wrong section.

This is for bitcoin only questions.

Look up gpu mining rig builds and check alt coin profitability sites to figure out what cards people would want.

Odds are though that they are sold out, and there is no guarantee you will be able to resell them at the inflated price most people are just waiting patiently until stocks replenish.

Also stores are limiting most people to 1 or 2 cards to prevent this reselling and to ensure there is stock for PC  gamers.
3866  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2+ EH] Slush Pool (slushpool.com); World's First Mining Pool on: February 09, 2018, 02:19:35 AM
I got one question for this pool... I know when you switch pools you loose all your shares that you have submited - right? But what happens, if your miner goes offline, and you dont submit shares for certain period of time? Does that count as starting from 0 again, or you are continuing from where you have left?

And does this pool have PPS paying out system? If it does is it possible to get payments AUTOMATICALLY like once a week? Or something like that.

I don't think the pool offers PPS.

Because of the size of the pool if your miner goes offline you stop receiving a portion of block rewards after roughly  1.5 hours. Same as when you start mining your scoring hashrate takes a while to reflect your miners actual hashrate.

You can set auto payouts to an amount I don't think they do a set day and time of the week.
3867  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Selling S9s 13.5Ths ready to go live on: February 07, 2018, 06:08:53 PM
It sounds like he is selling a Miner that is hosted in Canada. This is posted in the wrong section it should be in the Marketplace.

You might want to let people know what the hosting fees are, if they are already paid, if not what shipping would cost to get it sent to their location.

Reported to Mods they will move it.

3869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Friends haunting me with the dotcom saga on: February 07, 2018, 12:00:53 AM
Many friends of mine which I convinced them to buy a minimum of 0.01 bitcoin or to use their devices to mine because some of them have the AMD Ryzen 1700x processor which makes about 1 or more dollars daily are haunting me now because they think that bitcoin will be memories like the dotcom was in the year 1997-2000. I just read on Wikipedia for thedotcom and I think they are not the same as bitcoin because bitcoin relies on blockchain technology which is better than dotcoin.

Any arguments from the forum to shut their mouth because I am starting to get bored and pissed by their behavior, I helped them while they think I cheated them.

Here's what I think matters when did you convince them to get involved.

What was the pricepoint and how did you go about "convincing" them.

I only got actively involved in Bitcoin last June, and couldn't belive the growth that followed, I did well and made my ROI on all hardware, and was able to sell the used hardware I started out with.

Then I saw the growth quickly turn into the FOMO frenzy it became. When BTC was topping 9000-12000 and continuing up I told everyone I know who asked to not buy BTC. I explained the trend and rise to them while also relaying the knowledge I had about the network (while still learning myself). What I did say was there will be a correction, I told them if you see it hit 10 000 (CAD) and hold there then think about buying in and seeing how things play out.

I had some people come to me saying look I could have made 1000$ if I had bought, and I asked them would you have sold or held it anticipating a larger jump. They come to me now and say thanks for the advice. I know myself I get caught up pretty quick but I've also realized a cool head often prevails, and there's no shame in missing out on something because it could always be worse.

The reference to the DOTCOM bubble is that everyone at that time was investing in something they didn't fully understand because they heard they could get rich without fully understanding what it was. It was the same FOMO frenzy people went through then.

3871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Did you stick to the HOLD philosophy on: February 06, 2018, 11:47:21 PM
I just wanted to gauge what people did and why.

If you had BTC from October 2017 or earlier, maybe 1 maybe 100 and some with more I'm sure.

Did you sell in December? With the insane rise in price which was due for a correction how many people sold at or near peak and maybe set aside some for a correction to buy back in the Dip.

I ask because with the opportunity to cash out for FIAT which still makes the world go around it seems like selling at 20 000+ (CAD) makes sense. I hear a lot of people who say HOLD and hoard essentially, and to each their own; but I find myself wondering at what point do you sell if that is your philosophy.

Maybe you didn't sell; maybe you sold a few or dumped it all.

I myself didn't have much; I had amassed a small amount that I was portioning off to HOLD, but what I was holding was instantly sold at the peak or used to buy equipment mostly because I had a feeling that it was going to be worth about 50% in the near future. The price stayed higher for longer than I though but it also fell lower than I thought. I might have been completely wrong it may have continued to rise but in the end I was happy with the decision I made. I can always mine more...well some (damn difficulty lol)

Scammer

i paid $500 ether for the 1080ti shipped via his terms and conditions.
now he is refusing to ship claiming i need to pay more for shipping when his terms clearly stated he was paying for shipping

i took a gamble and got burnt.

here is his original post because he removed it

They are labelled as ECHU and ECMM

You need to look at your API log, the one you posted a pic of. Scroll down through the list until you see those listed along the left side of the screen.

Here is a link to the codes

It seems there arent any. Am I missing something? Here is a screenshot

I think you have to click in the CGMiner API log tab

Still nothing. I have attached a screenshot again.

From what I can see you do not have any errors.

They show up in the API log under ECHU and ECMM.

yeah  it is going to be real gear.  and I figured out why  they did the campaign like this.  the thread drew far more attention this way  then with a simple  true demo. The wait for April release.

My thoughts are now when I get the 4-5 units from Yoshi  in early April  will btc be at 4000 or 9000 usd?

and will bitmain  have a 22th miner doing 1400 watts ?

Other then that  I do look forward to using it.

Well any publicity is good publicity they say.

I still think it was a shitty way of dealing with people.

It does show that people are still to easy going tossing their money around with unproven projects, when they were able to sell 3 batches before anything  even remotely verifiable had come out.

Best of luck to anyone ordering or expecting this Miner.

Thanks for adjusting the auto-payout fee, super reasonable.

It would be nice to see a block, but some here have been waiting way longer than me lol.
3878  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150+ PH] SlushPool (slushpool.com); World's First Mining Pool on: February 05, 2018, 07:18:57 PM
Ok, so I have a setup of 40 miners with 3 other associates...

We have agreed upon taking out the profit twice a month

But as it seems, you cannot send a specific amount to a BTC address, rather than just send the whole balance after it crosses the payout...

Can this be done? I am saying this because I would not like to pay the txfees (I know they are kinda low, but whatever you can save, its better)

Not sure what exchange you use, but I use quadriga CX, and they don't charge a fee for withdrawing BTC from their wallet. So I send their and then can forward it accordingly after I decide what to sell/hold
3879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: February 05, 2018, 05:49:01 PM

I have never heard of them, but someone else may know about them. Did you find them on an Asian website?

Yes the person I'm dealing with is out of China, A little more research told me that they come out of the same factory as Powercolor; Dataland is just the branding in Asia.

That at least let me know roughly what they were talking about.

I've been turning over rocks all over the globe looking for cards; mostly finding slugs and scammers but this guy has been great so far. I'll let people know how the deal ends. They accepted Paypal so I felt safe enough to go forward with the purchase.
3880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: February 05, 2018, 05:27:59 PM
Quick question here has anyone used Dataland branded GPU's.

I have the chance to get some 580's but being new to GPU's and haven't found much in the way of reviews.

Thanks
