I do feel bad for Leicester, I always like it when smaller teams do well... but then Leicester have already won the league before, and now the cup, so maybe that's enough.

I think Liverpool will qualify for the Champions League, along with Chelsea. On the balance of the season I think Leicester maybe deserve it more than Liverpool, but it's a close thing.

I understand that you don't support the violent demonstrations, but you do support the majority that were non-violent, is that right?
Yes, that's right. And I would suspect as with demonstrations on many different subjects, that any violence would be due in large part to people who just want any excuse to cause trouble and so will attach themselves to anything where there's a chance of conflict with the police.

By the way, I enjoy the debate although in this case it does not look like we are going to reach points of agreement. The only thing is that you give me a lot of work to answer you, and I am tempted to stop debating with you and start shitposting instead.

 Grin
I understand completely. When moon? Where lambo?

Don't you guys find it funny that a relegated team like Sheffield United wins against a team which need the win as their last hope for the last place in Europa League which is Everton?I don't get it as why Sheffield United needed to win yesterday night.

I think it happens quite often. In general you don't want to play teams who have just been relegated, just like you don't want to play teams who have just changed manager.

For Sheff United, they have been under immense pressure all season, with the risk of relegation. But now relegation is no longer a risk, it's a definite fact. So it doesn't matter whether they lose now, the fact is already determined, and the pressure is off. I think it's precisely because it doesn't matter that they were able to win.
1804  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Good morning ladies and gentlemen" on: May 17, 2021, 06:26:12 PM
You don't feel you are a victim but you tend to see others as victims, women, blacks, Amazon workers...
I wouldn't use the word 'victim'.
But surely it is better to be concerned about those who are oppressed or treated unfairly than to simply say 'This doesn't affect me personally, so I'm not interested'?
Have you ever donated money to a charity?

Which I think just goes back to my original point. People being irritated by revised terminology is not the biggest problem here.
It goes to your original point but not the point of this thread.
We may appear to have digressed, but I'd argue that it is all relevant to the thread. Regardless of whether the "Good morning ladies and gentlemen" issue is simply an anti-SJW tactic to rile people up and create outrage out of nothing, it's interesting that people are outraged - or at least irritated. I'd suggest that there is a considerable overlap between those irritated/outraged by the "Good morning ladies and gentlemen" issue and those who equate BLM with, as below, the phrase 'vandalize and riot'.

Do you support the BLM movement? If they can vandalize and riot I don't see why it is wrong that I and others express our disagreement with the politically correct trend.
You know how much I love posting charts and links to data...

Quote
The vast majority of demonstration events associated with the BLM movement are non-violent (see map below). In more than 93% of all demonstrations connected to the movement, demonstrators have not engaged in violence or destructive activity. Peaceful protests are reported in over 2,400 distinct locations around the country. Violent demonstrations,4 meanwhile, have been limited to fewer than 220 locations — under 10% of the areas that experienced peaceful protests. In many urban areas like Portland, Oregon, for example, which has seen sustained unrest since Floyd’s killing, violent demonstrations are largely confined to specific blocks, rather than dispersed throughout the city (CNN, 1 September 2020).
https://acleddata.com/2020/09/03/demonstrations-political-violence-in-america-new-data-for-summer-2020

I would add to this that any prominent and well-publicised demonstration, on whatever subject, is likely to be joined by some people who don't care about the cause but just want to fight the police.

1805  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: May 17, 2021, 10:04:37 AM
LFC still has a chance to play in the Champions League next season. The final two matches will determine who will be with Duo Manchester playing in the Champions League.

Match week 37 between Chelsea vs Leicester, it could be that Leicester will drop to 4th place if they lose and then down to 5th place if LFC can beat Burnley, happen if LFC's goal difference is better than Leicester.

The goal difference between Liverpool and Leicester is the same... which means that Liverpool's fate is in their own hands.
If Liverpool win, then they will qualify for the Champions League no matter what happens in the Chelsea vs Leicester game.
1806  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Good morning ladies and gentlemen" on: May 17, 2021, 09:34:13 AM
How many of those blacks killed were NBA players? Or doctors of quantum physics? Maybe we don't have to count only the variable of ethnicity but take into account socio-cultural and economic factors as well.
I'm not sure if this has been studied much, so the evidence is largely made up of many individual cases, such as the gold-medal winning black athlete who was stopped by police because 'black people in fancy cars are suspicious', or when black billionaire Oprah Winfrey was looking at an expensive handbag, and was told she couldn't afford it.

Nowadays if you want to experience victimisation,
You'd better have a socialist mentality, or left-wing, or liberal in the US, whatever you want to call it. That way you will feel a victim no matter what your condition is (female, gay etc.) and you'll believe that the state has to come to rescue you.
I would say I'm left-wing, but I don't feel that I'm a victim at all.

harassment, bullying and general unfair treatment because of your sexuality, you better be trans or gay.
Not really. Are you talking about Afghanistan? I don't think so, and neither do I, since I referred to developed countries. In the vast majority of developed countries, such as the UK where you say you live, gays are better off than ever, have more rights than ever, are harassed less than ever and are treated better than ever. This is not the case in all developed countries, and we are not yet 100% equal, but we are on the way.
'Better than ever' is relative, and as you say we are not yet 100% equal... for which the evidence is overwhelming. As an example, some data released today on the situation in the UK:

Quote
68% of LGBT+ young people had experienced suicidal thoughts, compared with 29% of young people who were not LGBT+.
https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/may/17/lgbt-youths-twice-as-likely-to-contemplate-suicide-survey-finds

The problem I see is not that there is a small compensation with respect to traditional discrimination, but that in a historical moment where minorities are less discriminated against than ever, and where even if the public authorities did nothing, they would be increasingly normalized, certain measures that are taken, are a rather big compensation.
Which I think just goes back to my original point. People being irritated by revised terminology is not the biggest problem here.

the unexpected happens when a goalkeeper (alisson) is able to score the winning goal for Liverpool, in football history of course many goalkeepers have scored in a football match, but to be honest for me personally this is the first time in my life that I have witnessed a goalkeeper score a goal firsthand and it really is incredibly fantastic

It's really incredible - and such an important goal, too.
Yes, goalkeepers do score occasionally... but I read that this is the first time for Liverpool:

Quote
Alisson rose to glance Trent Alexander-Arnold's delivery into the far corner of the net to send the away side into delirium. In an example of extraordinary timing, it is the first occasion in which a goalkeeper has scored a competitive goal for Liverpool in their entire history, dating back to 1892.

Suarez deal is the best deal in Laliga .
Atletico Madrid made the remontada in this match with the  Suarez.
Real Madrid won in turn and did what he did, and even led the league in some minutes before the return of Rojiblancos
Barcelona became unable to win over Celta vigo at the Camp Nou and officially hand over his chances in the league .
The final upcoming round will be 🔥🔥🔥 in which there is no place for a mistake.

I'm surprised that Barca lost, and I'm impressed that Atletico managed to win after being behind with only 10 minutes left. If they hadn't scored those two goals, the title would now be up to Real to decide.
As it is, Atletico's fate is in their own hands: If Real draw or lose, Atletico are champions. If Real win, then Atletico must also win.
1809  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Good morning ladies and gentlemen" on: May 16, 2021, 12:54:45 PM
I was obviously talking about the media and political correctness and not so much about painful realities like that.

Yes, that's my point, really. The distinction about feeling annoyed because of political correctness and feeling annoyed because you are more likely to be murdered.

Nowadays if you want to be the protagonist of a movie you better be trans or gay

Nowadays if you want to experience victimisation, harassment, bullying and general unfair treatment because of your sexuality, you better be trans or gay.

... that kind of distinction, between the importance of things in movies and the importance of things in reality.

There is an unpleasant trend whereby when any minority group seeks empowerment, fairness, representation, then there are those who oppose it. There are people who, when they are told 'black lives matter', decide for some unknown reason that the phrase is preceded by a silent 'only', when that is quite obviously not the case. This is why the phrase 'all lives matter' is so obnoxious... because BLM already means all lives matter. I have a fundamental moral objection to the 'what-about-me'ism from majority groups whenever a minority attempts to be heard.

The purpose of 'political correctness' is not to evoke slight annoyance from the traditionalists who like bias because it's in their favour. The purpose is to address historic wrongs, and if sometimes there is an inadvertent degree of overcompensation, then surely this is a price worth paying?

My dad had polio as a kid.  [...] To be fair, my great aunt also had it and she was pretty fucked up needing braces and a crutches for the rest of her life.

It sounds horrific. Which is why the vaccine is so important.

4 out of 4 of my grandparents got cancer.  And both of my parents as well

But cancer is extremely common. I think it's a more than a stretch to link this to the Polio vaccine.

If people actually cared about 'polio' they would STOP doing the vaccine because reverted vaccine strain is causing most of the 'cases' in most places these days.

Okay, but the relative numbers are an important consideration here, and they utterly undermine that argument...

I dont think its too late for juventus

The Inter match was supposed to be the one that ended any real hopes of Juventus remaining in a Champions League spot... but they surprised everyone, and are still clinging on.
It's still out of their hands, it depends on Napoli, and they basically need every result to go the right way for them. It will be interesting to see how this surprise win affects the other teams vying for CL places, who may have thought Juventus were out of the running.
1812  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Good morning ladies and gentlemen" on: May 16, 2021, 08:02:33 AM
It's a common anti-SJW tactic

Yes, exactly. And it's quite an indictment of humanity that the tactic is so successful.

I imagine it goes along the lines of the criminalization of the white heterosexual male that we can see for a few years now. Kind of like Clint Eastwood.

Unless you want to be attacked or murdered by the actual police instead of Dirty Harry, in which case statistically it's much better to be black...

1813  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is AstraZeneca vaccine: safe or not safe? on: May 16, 2021, 07:33:48 AM
^^^ Yeah. It's like using a pistol with a few more chambers in the cylinder... to play Russian Roulette.

more people die due to hydroxychloroquine than from lung thrombosis via vaccine
so yea.. your the guy playing Russian roulette with more chambers in the cylinder

in vaccine case..
its a gun with 1m chambers and 5 bullets
in HCQ..
its a gun with 1m chambers and 16 bullets
in covid cases
its a gun with 1m chambers and 140,000 bullets

so least risk of death is still the vaccine

Yes, exactly. There is risk attached to anything. Driving a car. Eating food. Walking down the road. Existing. The key to this is understanding probabilities, and then applying logic...

Around 700 people per year in the USA die from falling out of bed. Does this mean we should sleep on the floor?
1814  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is AstraZeneca vaccine: safe or not safe? on: May 15, 2021, 07:25:01 PM
There does seem to be a slightly raised risk of blood clotting from the AZ vaccine. Data are still being gathered, but in general show only a very small increase over the base expected level in everyday life.

The study linked to below finds instances of cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) are:

Pfizer/Moderna vaccine: 4 per million
Astra Zeneca vaccine: 5 per million
catching Covid: 39 per million

https://www.bmj.com/content/373/bmj.n1005

... which certainly indicates that if the choice is either 1) AZ or 2) nothing and potentially catching Covid, then taking the AZ vaccine is by far the better option.

Anecdotally, I've had the AZ vaccine. Side effects were barely noticeable.

Monaco Gp which in theory is a boring one but just some rain and it makes it extremely interesting.

Yes. I'm not a fan of the Monaco grand prix - the most exciting part is the qualifying, which goes a long way to determining the race winner.
The race itself is just a parade with no overtaking; barring mishaps, the only real chance to change positions is generally at the pit stop.
1816  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POLL] Do vaccines kill people? on: May 15, 2021, 03:33:08 PM
they never tested it on Animals

Yes, they did...

This time round they skipped animal trials, wonder why?
No, they didn't skip animal trials. This myth was debunked months ago: https://apnews.com/article/fact-checking-afs:Content:9792931264

The new strategy to make 'vaccines' 'work' is to:

 - count vaccinated people as covid cases only if the have to go to the hospital.

 - count non-vaccinated people whenever a test comes up positive or whenever a 'doctor' 'suspects' that a person might have 'covid'.

mental gymnastics

The vaccine rollout started in late December, but cases didn't start dropping until mid-January. This is because the vaccine is irrelevant. Mid-January is when Trump left office. One of his last acts as president was to build a wall around the secret Wuhan Bill Gates Big Pharma 5G Virus Lab where the Covids are manufactured. Of course "they" don't want you to know that, so it's all being suppressed. But this is what's stopping the virus from getting out. Did you think his wall was a stupid xenophobic jingoistic waste of money? Well, you're wrong. Turns out he's actually saved the world.

I think Toto Wolff could just complain straight to the FIA and get them to look at it..  Like how they usually do it.

Yes. It felt very forced and scripted when Hamilton said it. Maybe Wolff had already tried with the FIA, or was concerned they wouldn't listen and just wanted it out in the open as a point of discussion.

Max would still have awesome tires at 60+ while Hamiltons tires would have a problem, it would slow him down and his turns would get slower.

So long story short Hard tires, or even just get that one medium tire if they had one? Or do whatever, hell if they had soft that would have worked for 2 stops and would still fail them but at the end of the day everyone and their grandmother knew the one they did wouldn't work.

I can't remember how close Bottas was at the time - was there a risk of Max finishing third if he stopped again?
There's also the issue of whose tyres perform better. Not sure if it's the drivers or the cars, but Hamilton has always been extremely good at managing degradation, and his car seems a bit stronger than Max's in this regard.

40,000 or 50,000 units of vitamin D

Who in the world told you to take 40k IU's of vitamin D? 5k a day is enough.

Isn't vitamin D toxic at these levels? I know babies can overdose on it, not sure about adults.

We can add this to this list of concerns for BADecker's health. It probably comes in at number two. Miracle Mineral Supplement is I think still top.
