which vaccine did you have ? I am scheduled to get AstraZeneca this week. Although I had the virus early on in March 2020. Obviously I didn't die, nor did i go to hospital. I did go to doctor but because i hadn't traveled they said it wasn't possible.. i got mad diarrhea and heart palpitation and the cough and fevers...took 8 weeks to feel normal again and still working on my cardio fitness. I figure since i didn't die from the actual covid the vaccine should be ok.

I had the AZ vaccine. I would think if you've already had Covid, there's a chance that the vaccine side effects that you experience might be slightly stronger than for those who haven't had the virus... because your body is already primed and ready to go, so you might have a stronger immune response. But this is simply an uneducated guess - it may not work like this at all, I'm not a medical professional.
Either way, taking the vaccine is a good idea.

With so many people being vaccinated in the current panicdemic (sic), this seems to be a massive growth market over the next few years. Do you think I should be investing in these health repair domain names?

I'm sure that there's money to be made from conspiracy theorists... but if you're anticipating a growth market due to data supporting the theories, then this is perhaps unlikely to happen. The data are quite conclusive already: the vaccines are safe and effective.

The FIA has introduced a new test that is not yet under the radar yet.
They are about to change or do a new test on the flexibility of the components.
It is thought that this test is something done against the red bull who in the past had already found a way to use flexible wings by circumventing the regulation for those who remember it.
They used a clever way to "stretch" the layers of the carbon fiber to make it move differently depending on the force applied, ingenious but then banned.

Yes, Hamilton mentioned it over the radio during the race. It was kind of a strange thing for him to say, and it felt a bit rehearsed... a bit like it was Toto speaking through Hamilton, and making sure that the message went out over TV to millions of people, so the FIA were forced to look at it.

Mercedes have had concerns for a while that the Red Bull wing is solid when the car is stationary, so it passes the FIA regulations... but then it bends when the car is travelling at speed, so gains an advantage. It's not breaking the rules as such, more going against the spirit of the rules...

AFAIK Red Bull get to keep the bendy wing for the next 3 races though, to give them time to engineer an alternative if the FIA find against them.

all the viruses will go away... like they were never were there... because they weren't.

Are you extending this now from 'Covid doesn't exist' to 'no viruses exist'? Just curious. Presumably you aren't challenging that certain symptoms exist - which we would ascribe to the presence of viruses. So how would you explain them? Is there a religious explanation? Obviously we never agree on anything, I'm just trying to understand how you rationalise certain things.

The reason why they didn’t pit Verstappen to get a new set of mediums after Hamilton got his was cos Red Bull only got one set of mediums for Verstappen.  Lol.  I only found out from a podcast a friend of mine was listening to.

Hey, I posted that here a couple of days ago! Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Mercedes planned this strategy well in advance of the race... they ensured they went into race day with two sets of mediums for Hamilton. Verstappen only had one set. If Verstappen had gone for the second stop at the same time as Hamilton, he'd have had to put softs on, which would have degraded severely by the end of the race, and Hamilton would have overtaken with ease.

It was a very good recovery drive by Hamilton, but superb race planning by Mercedes.

For so long, as the three teams below closed in on Atletico, it looked like those two head-to-head matches might determine the title... but both finished as draws, and after this Atletico are slowly increasing the gap again. We are back to where we were a few months ago, with Atletico having everything in their own hands... and crucially they are picking up at the right time.

Obviously anything can happen in the last couple of games, but Atletico are top and playing well... they must be favourites.

How do I vote for this?

I'd normally say contact him on Twitter, but it looks like his account has been suspended or something. But I'm not sure if he's definitely running in '24 in any case.

TBH I think you'd be better off just taking the vaccine.
I've had it. It was fine.

I think Atletico will win today

I think they'll win, as well. The main reason for me is that they will have seen both Barca and Real drop points recently, they know that the title is back in their own hands, and it's just a case of winning the next few matches. I think they'll do a professional job and get the 3 points.
1829  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: May 12, 2021, 06:57:40 AM
after Barcelona brought the score to 2-0, I thought that was it

I thought that too. But I suppose the big teams dropping points like this should no longer be a surprise.
Atletico have a huge chance now to claim the title, and all of their remaining games look winnable... but let's not be surprised if they start dropping points, too!

MOTHER'S DAY CELEBRATION
[...] how about the fathers?

I've seen a few variations on 'all lives matter', but I think this is the weirdest one yet.

How about when it's someone's birthday and they receive gifts? Why doesn't everyone else get gifts on that day, too? How is that fair? Why do they have to wait until their own birthday?

How about celebrating Easter to commemorate Jesus being resurrected and walking out of his tomb? What's that all about? How come we don't celebrate other people who walk out of tombs? How come we don't celebrate people who go into tombs but don't walk out?

In summary: Why is there ever any distinction made in life between one thing and any other thing? Wouldn't reality be so much easier if no-one ever said or did anything, if everything in existence was merged into a single amorphous blob and nothing ever happened?

The American medical is way worse than Nazis could even think to be.... even with their Nazi direct goals. If Hitler saw what the American medical was doing, he would either be proud of them, or he would roll over in his grave at the horror they were producing, way beyond anything even he was comfortable with.

I think you might be making it worse. The scary thing is, I don't think you're a troll... you genuinely believe this stuff.

I'm not a fan of Trump, but I have to say that his favourability ratings with me are much higher when he's underwater (preferably without breathing apparatus). If we can keep him there, then this sounds like a great idea. It will probably also help to counter his toxic emanations.

Comparing people who are saving millions of lives through vaccination to the Nazis who ran the holocaust is a new low. Congratulations.
These threads are becoming increasingly hysterical, and continue to fly in the face of all available evidence. Please stop.

And Perez should improve out there and get the constructors points as close as possible vs Merc.  He has become somewhat of a liability.

He needs to improve, definitely. All the talk is of Bottas not being good enough... but he does consistently finish in the top three. Red Bull and Mercedes both need their second drivers to perform well, because it gives them a tactical edge in the Hamilton/Verstappen battle.
If you have two cars at the front, and the other team only has one, then you have a huge tactical advantage going into the pit stops. If Perez were up near the front, it would help both Verstappen and Red Bull. Admittedly Bottas does need to improve a bit... but Perez needs to improve more.

Perhaps for this last race he can be excused as he was ill during qualifying... but in future races he needs to be up near the front.

I do believe that if Verstappen went for a pit on right after Hamilton, he would have a chance to win.

No, I don't think so.

TBH I'm surprised that Real Madrid didn't beat Sevilla.

With three games left, it's now advantage Atletico. Each of the top three has three matches against lower placed teams, which they should win.
I think that if they all finish level on points, then Real take the title because of a superior head-to-head record... which would suggest that if Real win all their games, and Atletico W2D1, then Real finish top.

What a recovery race from Lewis and not only once but twice which makes this even more impressive and it seems that slowly everyone is starting to acknowledge as the greatest of all time

I do think he's the greatest ever, and he did drive very well today after that poor start from pole... but a huge amount of credit has to go to the Mercedes tacticians today, who really caught Red Bull cold with that surprise second stop. Poor attitude from Bottas though, when he didn't allow Hamilton to pass despite team orders... Bottas really unleashed his inner Rosberg at that moment, but in the end it didn't matter.
1838  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Vitamin D Thread. on: May 09, 2021, 09:04:02 AM
I was more reluctant when the vaccines first came out. The more time passes and I see that there are no widespread negative effects, the less reluctant I am.
Yes, that makes sense. The vaccines were certainly developed at considerable pace, and with huge pressure to deliver something to the market very quickly. It was perfectly reasonable to have concerns when the rollout started. But as you say, the data are now revealing that the approved vaccines are safe.

Since the beginning of the human species, our body has been able to produce vitamin D from sunlight or receive it from sources like eggs. In the modern world, with many people choosing to stay indoors and hooked on TV or the internet, it is a natural consequence that people are getting less exposure to sunlight.
A large reason is the human migration, over millennia, out of Africa and to higher latitudes where the sunlight is less powerful. A reason for the mutation to paler skin tones in northern regions is likely compensation for vitamin D deficiency. The people who suffer most from vitamin D deficiency are those who have migrated to higher latitudes but retain darker skin tones. This is why, when investigating higher Covid mortality amongst ethnic minorities in northern nations, it is important to consider whether vitamin D levels might be a factor.

It is precisely another conspiracy that I believe in. Coca-Cola McDonald's and a lot of companies paying experts to convince everyone that it is the same to eat 2.000Kcal of Coca Cola and McDonald's than 2.000Kcal of broccoli with salmon.
I don't think this should be considered a conspiracy theory, it's simply transparent, shameless and aggressive positioning by companies that have a vested interest in the outcome. Fast food companies claim that fast food is healthy. Companies that produce alcohol claim that alcohol isn't damaging. Cigarette companies used to claim that cigarettes were safe. Fossil fuel companies claim that climate change is either natural or non-existent. The Financial Times claims that bitcoin is a scam.  ... perhaps we need more government intervention to prevent these companies from misleading people?  Wink

After yesterday's tie between Barcelona and Atletico, Real Madrid have a chance to be level with the leader of the table.

Not just level though, I think they'd be top due to a superior head-to-head record.

This quote from the Guardian sums up the Barca - Atletico match best:

Quote
It was billed as the match that would decide the title but nothing is decided yet and the team that won it was the one that didn’t play.

With the match finishing 0-0, it's now advantage Real...
1840  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Hillary Clinton to Trump "Don't Tempt Me" on: May 09, 2021, 06:57:40 AM
Biden is a Trump puppet, who is in there to act like he is doing things against America. But he is really following Trump's orders 100% of the time.

It's weird then how the timing of Biden's inauguration coincided exactly with 'puppet-master' Trump suddenly reversing all of his previously held opinions.
For example, how Biden rejoined the Paris Climate Agreement within hours of taking office.

Either Biden isn't Trump's puppet, or Trump has some serious mental health issues.

JK, of course, it's both of the above.
