OP doesn't want to sound like a dick, but generalized an entire continent by saying it's in the "stone age"?

This is downtown Harare (Zimbabwe)

Does the entire West look like this (detroit)?  (answer:  no)

That's a terrible example to prove a point. Like I said when Westerners have been in control of Africa it has become relatively modern and developed in South Africa and Zimbabwe formerly Rhodesia. When the whites were kicked out of the country and the land the country collapsed into a horrible corrupt leadership (Mugabe) and hyperinflation if anyone needs reminding.

I'm not saying Black people can't develop their country but the culture predominant in Africa does not led itself toward economic progress. Many African cultures are still nomadic for crying out loud how will they develop into the economic systems we call modern?
1462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMS]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS |PRE-SALE LIVE NOW| on: December 23, 2014, 03:29:50 PM
The gems currency is powered by Counterparty. Every GEMS user automatically gets his own wallet, protected by the passphrase chosen on registration. The social network username is an alias to the gems address, making sending & receiving gems and bitcoins between users as easy as possible. Gems Android App Showcase: https://twitter.com/getgemsorg/status/547336851678191617

Damn that sending system is a beautiful thing. What if you want to just write Gems? Smiley Is sending BTC the same, just type "Bitcoin"?

Someone mentioned GEMZ as sending currency, I think you should definetly use "gems", why over complicate things if the app is called Gems is my thinking.

Thank you for the feedback.
Sending BTC works the same way (the "send logo" on the right changes to "bitcoin logo")
you can type the amount you want to send and than gems or gemz, both will work.

Seriously Daniel I don't do ass kissing and I still have my doubts people are going to want crypto as much as we think they want it BUT well done Daniel, really great job.

Can the OP spell Shares right?

Chers = Shares
1465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a commodity rather than money on: December 22, 2014, 10:45:52 PM
Bitcoin is money, it isn't a commodity its simply a safe store of wealth which we have forgotten that was was what money was susposed to serve as as well before mass printing, inflation and unstable economic systems.
1466  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why is Africa stuck in the stone age? on: December 22, 2014, 10:30:22 PM
South Africa proves that when white people populate Africa then it can become relatively devloped and wealthy. People don't want to talk about the Elephant in the room. Yes I believe Africa has been exploited over the decades BIT AfricaNs have to take responsibility in the end. Be it their backward beliefs, IQ?, culture of progressing, spiritual darkness (much of Africa has been quite demonic with Witchcraft being the norm) Christianity is a relatively recent thing and is often mixed with old beliefs.

African will eventually rise and will do so due to China, Africa will be the last of the industrial revolutions in the world. It should really be the richest place on Earth just based on natural resources which have been pludred by the West and now the East.

So if the Android version is built on Telegram and the iOS version is not...  How will people on iOS chat with users of Android?

it's like saying whatsapp people can chat with people on Viber or Facebook messenger.... lol

Cause both are being built on Telegram?

This is a good read if you have 10 minutes...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=896974.0

I am perplexed at this individual. The soft hearted side of me wants to help. But where does personal responsibility step in? What would you do?

I had a look, im not going to trawl though pages of a thread to work out what could possibly make you question Libertarian beliefs. Please state exactly what it is that make you doubt a political and economic system based on some woman being jibbed.

Where the hell in Libertarianism do you stand watching someone get into trouble financially and don't help them, in fact you acting is exactly what Libertarianism depends on. Ron Paul said a poor person never was turned away from his surgery when he practiced. Libertarianism is a big picture system doesn't say anything about being some kind of bastard and losing your humanity and compassion???

Competition is hot on GEMS trail it seems. They don't have the attention system but they seems a pro bunch so I expect they will have a decent product.

Assuming there is a searchable blockchain just like Bitcoin, If we use our own names in the app will people be able to see your account movements with your name attached?
1471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMS]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS |PRE-SALE LIVE NOW| on: December 19, 2014, 07:24:47 PM
I can just see the people who are new to crypto currency go, wow, you literally manufacture money out of thin air.

Gems are less currency more tokens or small units of shares in The Gems app. The CEO of Snapchat unlike Gems gets all the made up tokens for his app or what we like to call dollars.
1472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Am I the only one laughing at the butthurt over Ripple? on: December 18, 2014, 10:10:25 AM
I don't own any but it's funny to see people on hearing getting their panties in a wad, calling it a scam, centralized crap, etc. when this forum is nothing but full of alt coin scammers and naive kids who give away their money to scammers and fall for the same thing again week after week.

If only this much energy had been spent in cleaning up the alt market, hell better yet, instead of whining about corporate coins or a lack of volume, go buy an established, respectable coin that's been around for months. But right, that doesn't pump within a week so hence I can't make money there fast...

Because the price went up its somehow not decentralised?

It's actually no where near past highs by the way. I don't hate Ripple I used to own some but it's a pain in the ass currency to deal with, all the trust thing is frustrating to use. Will it get built upon by banks etc, maybe and at least it's not printable fiat. Ripple is kind of dull whatever the price is IMO. Ripple was a gateway for me personally into crypto currency, that's the best thing I can say about it.
1473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia vs Cyprus financial crisis - Bitcoin not getting any boost this time on: December 17, 2014, 08:53:11 PM
Not sure many people understand the concept of safe haven, Gold IS a safe haven whatever the price is. People confuse safe haven with price.

Anyway Bitcoin IS a safe haven because it can't be printed so therefore its value can not be dissipated like when a currency collapses and a govermnet prints and prints to keep up with the drop in value. Can Bitcoin collapse, well only of everyone who holds Bitcoin decides one day it doesnt like Bitcoin but here's the thing a fiat currency once collapsed and printed into toilet paper can not regain its value. Bitcoin as interest increases again can.

So why is Bitcoin dropping in 'price'?   cause it's priced by most people here in Dollars which are increasing in 'price' compared to Bitcoin. Economics 101.

It's a random thought but I think it's would of been great to have the mining function of Mangocoinz on an app like GEMS. I don't know why Mangocoinz hasn't had much recognition on this forum. Whatever the quality of the app the concept of mining is pretty interesting at least.

http://www.mangocoinz.com

Mining should be avoided imo, because it is invented to secure transactions. Since Gems is using the Bitcoin Blockchain it is already secure so it would not make really sense. Rewarding through mining would disrupt the current reward model which is daily around 27k gemz. Mining for coins also brings a whole technical vibe into a system that is meant to be non-technical. I think people give the priority to just receive them automatically because it's easy and convenient instead of having to shut something as 'mining' on and off. Crypto is already a new thing, adding mining is unnecessary.

you're probably right, it wasn't that serious a point, just throwing it out there.

Hey Taxidermista and b-trading,

We were thinking of making the official introduction thread when we get on an exchange.
But it seams that we will need to rethink that strategy and maybe make the intro thread earlier.

I just send an email to Jared form coin-swap.net explaining what MangoCoinz is and hope to hear from him soon.

Best regards, Srele from MangoCoinz.

Yep you should do it around the other way. It's chicken and egg, if you get a thread going and people get interested you are in a much better position to get on an exchange plus users can contact exchanges and bug them for you.

Let's geta nice colourful announcement page done with Mangocoinz logo and focus on using a smart phone to mine. Hey I was wondering if the criticism some had of the app being insecure and easy to hack etc are founded in your opinion? Could this app also add messaging? put that on a roadmap and people will go Gaga. have you heard of GEMS? www.getgems.com   Of you could put this kind of mining on a messenger app like GEMS it would be a killer app. They are building upon Telegram.
1478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMS]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS |PRE-SALE LIVE NOW| on: December 17, 2014, 06:52:18 PM
Two further benefits I think of moving to Telegram is Telegram is the new talked about app, so while its not Whatsapp yet it's moving in that direction so we can ride the coat tails of the press attention.

But the overlooked one is Telegram is to messenging what Bitcoin/Gems is to money. It's clearly for the people and not some guy making money, if you research the founders they are Libertarians. It's a good fit all round. they might even want to partner with GEMs later.

Am I right in saying that now we are using Telegram we will have all the features that Telegram has like Document and photo sharing etc?

I was concerned the app was so bare bones.
