I think this coin is DOA. Got rid of all mine today personally. Unlike Feather there's no community involvement from the author, no bounties, nothing to keep it going. It seems like the author just wanted to make a quick buck from releasing a new coin. That said with the way people are blindly jumping on these new coins I wouldn't be surprised if someone eventually sneaks a backdoor or some kind of trojan in one. I don't understand - all the dev needs to do is be a little active . or at least exist and the value could easily grow. I don't really understand. You looked over the code and it checked out for nothing dodgy? The source code looks clean, I looked it over at release and didn't see anything malicious. You can do a diff with the litecoin source to see what was changed. It was posted here: https://github.com/CHNCoin/CHNCoinRemember that doesn't mean the author didn't infect the prebuilt binaries though (which most will download, instead of compiling the source themselves). In any case I would recommend always running this stuff in a controlled VM.

Like I said in that other topic, I already looked through the source code and didn't find anything malicious. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean the supplied binaries aren't tainted.
You should be running these new clients in a VM or Sandbox anyway... trust no one.

|

Agreed. There's only ~1900 coins minted on the entire network, highly unlikely any one person already has 100

The sources are available on github and I see no evidence of a logger. That's not to say the binaries aren't compromised, I have no idea. You should post evidence if this is really the case so people are aware.

Having way better luck with this than CHNCoin, which gave me like 90% orphans when it was at low difficulty. About a 50/50 split so far with this coin. Found 12 blocks so far.

Uh... well, sounds more promising than CHNCoin.
I'm running it in a sandbox but the source looks clean.

Smooth transaction with Majormax, traded 2000 CHN for 40 LTC.

I've got 2K of CNC to sell, price is 20 LTC per 1K
PM if you are interested.

The Linux version compiles just fine. I pulled it from git at release with no issues
I think it's too early to call judgment on this CHNCoin. Feathercoin release was handled better, yes, though to be honest there wasn't even a working site from day one and the initial coin icon was ripped from some jewelry shop. Doesn't exactly scream effort either, though I respect the dev for getting involved and creating bounties.
If you pulled it from git then you compiled it yourself. The precompiled version from sourceforge doesn't. Correct... misread what you said then, my bad.

NMC is hitting Gox as well. Should be interesting.

It was hovering around 25-20K in the last few weeks and look at the price now...
I don't think this is an indicator of anything.

I always insist the other party go first unless they have a long history of trades on here. Some people have backed out, but on the plus side, haven't ever gotten scammed.

Got this error on their site. So is this their DB username/password? Yikes! Hopefully they don't have the SQL server on a public facing IP, someone could snatch the entire DB right now.

Why CNC, though? Chinese National Coin?
The OP seems to have fled. The coin doesn't look too promising. I guess everybody is stocking up in case it becomes popular in China He was just here to post the OP last night... I don't get how people can already say that he fled or abandoned the coin or isn't giving any updates, etc. ChinaCoin is just as promising as Feathercoin. They are the same thing with a different name. All I see is 36 pages of him not posting, so people are calling it: he fled. Not true, he posted several times in the Chinese forum.
