781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] a new coin based on Litecoin - CHNCoin on: May 01, 2013, 05:09:28 PM
Only 10% is oprhans on my end right now..
Yeah, I was only getting lots of them last night, so far I've had 4 valid blocks in a row.
782  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] a new coin based on Litecoin - CHNCoin on: May 01, 2013, 04:59:33 PM
[url]]][url][/url]So I mined all night, and according to cgminer accepted 15 blocks, and there are 15 transactions in the CHNCoin client, but my balance and uncomfirmed are both at 0.00 CHN, and my transactions tab shows 0 transactions...

Orphaned blocks, someone found the block at the same time as you but theirs was accepted first. Happens when you have a ton of hash power jumping on at a low difficulty.
783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] a new coin based on Litecoin - CHNCoin on: May 01, 2013, 04:06:38 PM
Until diff goes up more whoever has lower latency will get blocks
784  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: PSA: Malta 7990s are NOT suitable for mining! on: May 01, 2013, 07:54:46 AM

$50 above MSRP? Way to go Newegg...
785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] a new coin based on Litecoin - CHNCoin on: May 01, 2013, 07:51:47 AM
0 blocks accepted after 1.5 hours mining @ 4000 kHash/s, bye bye CHN coin

Difficulty is very very low so it's just that another miner found the block around the same time but theirs propagated through the network before yours. Same thing happened with Feathercoin at release
786  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is this a Fourth ASIC supplier? on: April 29, 2013, 09:09:11 PM
It's Avalon batch#2 and #3

Avalon is mining them

Could as easily be BFL. I would suspect them more than Avalon.
787  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BitSyncom. Can you provide an update on batch #2? on: April 29, 2013, 07:18:45 PM
A 50k btc dump would merely bring us to 120... Nothing too scaring.
What's scaring is the lack of updates. They updated us during the "black period" of batch 1...

A 50k BTC dump would break past the $120 wall actually, would bring us down to $105-110-ish. Probably also induce a panic sell from spectators that have no clue what's going on.
788  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] Avalon ASICs Batch #4 (Planning) on: April 28, 2013, 05:30:49 PM
I'm interested in this but my BTC count is pretty low now, so I'm in with 2 BTC, if that's ok

It seems like Avalon might not make a Batch 4.

I think them selling chips in bulk is their way of saying that they;re not going to do a Batch 4.

Agreed. I think that was the plan all along, to bulk sell chips. Avalon doesn't seem too interested in dealing with end-users.
789  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: So many ASIC's Miner join, GPU mining will die on: April 28, 2013, 12:34:03 AM
Yeah, and I keep wondering why people even bother asking what GPUs to buy when it doesn't even matter anymore.

Most people are buying new GPUs for Litecoin.
790  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Who ever owns p2poolmining.com - Get your own design. on: April 27, 2013, 05:46:46 AM
Your design isn't exactly original. That's a Bootstrap template...

Sounds legit.
792  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as Escrow! Send coins to confirm! on: April 27, 2013, 12:17:54 AM
Can take up to a day for Gox to add funds via Dwolla, typically I see clearing times of 4-7 hours.
793  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: April 26, 2013, 07:15:02 AM

How embarrassing, total fail of an interview, the head of the biggest exchange who cannot describe bitcoin!
And pretty sure 80% of the viewers cannot comprehend his accent.

Yeah, time to hire a PR guy. I'd say he was quite nervous by the looks of it.
794  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: April 26, 2013, 06:44:47 AM
If the $120 wall falls we be hitting double digits I think. Doubt it will, but who knows...

It's not out of the question $0.12 will fall and I agree it would likely crash below $0.10 afterwards.

relm9, Is that Jean Reno in your avatar pic?

You got it Smiley One of my favorite films.

796  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much did you invest? on: April 26, 2013, 02:21:21 AM
I'M ALL IN

It's not much to begin with. Got some gains, currently stalking the market waiting to pounce. Once I have my mouse I'm going to put everything into an exchange.

Bitcoins volatility is perfect for exchanges. If I had anything in an exchange, I could have easily increased my bitcoin on days like today.

Hindsight is 20/20. That sounds like a surefire way to lose money. I would be surprised if you are able to take advantage of the constant dips throughout the day. Most people try to do this and win out sometimes but then end up losing as much as they gained. Good luck though.

I only tend to buy during obvious crashes like the recent drop to $50 and that has worked out well for me so far. Only have 1-5 % invested... it's a hobby for me.
797  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7990 revealed..... on: April 25, 2013, 11:03:19 PM

No I don't have Malta 7990s, but clock for clock they are IDENTICAL to the current PC cards, of which I have 2. I can SEE ON MY SCREEN, 7950s v 7990 cores.

Its like me quoting a review taken out of context to try and convince you that you're not really 5'9", you're 5'6".

I'm not disputing what you're saying... I know they are identical clock for clock. If you look at the reviews, the Malta 7990 is performing closer to 2x7950 in gaming, when it should be just below 7970 CF. It makes no sense but that's what the data shows. If you read HardOCP's conclusion they couldn't make sense of it either. Bottom line, until this is sorted out I would not recommend buying one. Get the other 3-slot 7990 instead.
798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC/FC exchange via Google Docs [Bid 21 LTC | Ask 20 LTC] on: April 25, 2013, 10:10:29 PM
I'm looking to trade 1K worth of FC at 20LTC.

Junior members or below will need to go first. Check my post history, I've sold over 30K worth of coins.

Edit: had a successful trade with a2706r. Offer above is no longer valid, I'm out of coins for now.
799  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7990 revealed..... on: April 25, 2013, 05:25:22 PM
The 7990 could very well be a better mining card than the 7970s due to the lower power consumption of the dies. AMD's been harvesting dies for a year now, the power draw of a 7990 is quite a bit lower than two 7970s or a Devil13.

Yep, but in gaming performance is similar to 2x7950 despite having almost the same specs as a 7970 on paper (same shader count, just 50 MHz reduction in core clock). If that translates to mining as well then the lower power consumption isn't much of a gain.

You keep quoting this as if its a fact, yet you've produced no evidence. I have two computers sitting next to me, one with 2x7970, and one with 2x7990. My eyes confirm something which your made up facts do not.

You don't have the Malta 7990s.

Check any review and you'll see it is 15-20% slower than actual 7970 CF, as far as gaming is concerned. A 50 MHz drop in core clock alone wouldn't do that.

HardOCP specifically tried increasing PowerTune to 20% which is the max and that didn't help things either (though this did work on the previously released custom 7990s)
