Just curious about general opinion here. Who would think buying a new 7950/7970 or even a couple of them for mining in general, not limited to litecoin, would be a worthy endeavour? Too risky? Not worth it by now? Totally go for it?
If you are in purely for profit, I wouldn't expect to reach ROI anytime soon with the way the difficulty is rising. If you believe in LTC and are in for the long haul, then yes I think it is worth it. Either way I don't think buying GPUs is that risky since you can always sell them and make a good % back. |

Tried sending BTC to BitStamp and the ripple client tells me "No path found" no matter what I put in, even 0.1 BTC. What am I doing wrong?
What type of BTC are you trying to send to them? If you hold BitstampBTC then it should go through (make sure you are using the right address, I think they have a different one for each currency). If you do not hold BitstampBTC, then that means you do not hold any BTC they trust. : Tried again and it now works, I guess the Ripple site was having issues... Should clarify, I'm doing an XRP -> BTC transfer. I have 15K XRP so it should be enough for 0.1 BTC. On the send money page I change the outgoing currency type to BTC. Also, just to test I tried USD to another ripple address and for some reason it only lets me go up to 4 dollars, >5 comes up with "Path not found" Perhaps I have overlooked something, not sure what's going on. |

You guys have no idea how bad I am feeling right now.
I sold at 65 last night... bought back in at 94 today. lost 600 bucks. I feel like shit, that was about 1/4 my total savings. all this after coming up from 20 to 21.5 btc. now i have 14. Sell low, buy high  In all seriousness that does suck, I wouldn't of went all in at $94 though. Should have staggered your purchases throughout the day... would've gotten a lower average cost. |

Why.
At the very least to even the playing field. Everybody has a computer or two in their house and chances are they are not an order of magnitude apart in performance, as is true of video cards. Also, there will be less "cheating" by pros, because the playing field will consist of only one type of player - the CPU. Also, you can do more interesting stuff like SHA3 for example as the hash (but still using an scrypt like scheme). Don't see how it levels the playing field. People with access to server farms would have a huge advantage, for one. |

ALTs live and die by community support. It is the people who decide if any 'clones' will stick around. Even if a coin doesn't bring anything new to the table by itself, if people decide to build services around it then it is inherently more valuable.
