Do we need to get verified on Gox even to withdraw BTC?

Yes, I had to anyway...
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT official trading website DGEX is A HUGE SCAM for me! on: January 24, 2014, 01:48:01 AM
Why didn't you use Bter instead?

I agree, the withdrawl fees on Dgex are insane, that's why I don't use them. Not sure how that qualifies as a scam though.

Btw, noticed you said official trading website. NXT isn't affiliated with dgex...

Vircurex adding NXT in 2 days? Is this anything more than a rumour?

No, it's true. edit: not sure about 2 days, they said by this weekend IIRC.
227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] QQCoin- Download Now- Quick Quick Coin is exactly that! -Client Update on: January 23, 2014, 08:01:24 PM
QQC will shoot to the moon not long after hitting a decent Chinese exchange. Just on the QQ Messenger groups alone, there are thousands of people chomping at the bit to buy some QQC.

This mentality reminds me exactly of CHNCoin. The coin isn't going to the moon on the name alone.
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty Protocol, Client and Coin (built on Bitcoin) - Official on: January 23, 2014, 07:49:27 PM
In hindsight I think you're right and it seems extremely wasteful not to mention if they'd used proof of key owner head of oxfam, we probably could have got crazy returns as a $2million donation from a crypto startup would have been mainstream news.

I quite sure it would have not accumulated 1.5K BTC that way.

People are sending them exactly because they sure (hopefully) that no one can steal these BTC's.

Not so sure.

People sent 135 BTC to VisaCoin which was clearly a scam. Counterparty has a working daemon already, plus extensive documentation. VisaCoin had none of that, just poorly written PR drivel. I think this project still would accumulated a lot of BTC regardless.

I think going proof-of-burn was a very honorable thing to do though and I really respect the dev team for their decision. Hopefully, more of the people that are burning 1+ BTC start to donate.
229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: January 22, 2014, 07:38:59 PM
I tried the Nvidia kernel on Vertcoin, and I'm seeing about a 11 % increase with hash rates up to 245kH from 220kH on my 780.

Only strange thing is that Z12x20 seems to be the sweet spot, I tried the recommended Z12x24 config and was getting around 190 kH (worse than previous).

Z12x24 definitely performs better with standard scrypt coins like Doge, Litecoin, etc though.
230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT coin - A total scam? on: January 22, 2014, 06:08:34 PM

- Rather than being compressed with a normal program such as RAR or ZIP I had to go and find a program to unpack 7z as my WinZip wouldn't do it. Why the developers chose 7z is beyond me.

I don't know where you downloaded your copy of NXT because the official distributions are in ZIP format here...

231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 22, 2014, 08:53:26 AM
Just like DGEX, Bter wanna hold as much NXT as they can get for (very) long period of time to earn money on transaction fees.
- it seems you are right.  My deposit to BTer from 20.01.2014 17:31:44 was deposited only half an hour ago. And only after 4 mails sent to the support. But, unlike DGex, they at least respond to mails..

As it stands, Bter gain nothing by prolonging the deposit times, since they give everyone an individual deposit address it doesn't benefit them forging-wise until they move it into their main account. Unless I'm missing something here.
232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 22, 2014, 07:30:46 AM
Hi, everyone!

Something is wrong with BTER.COM

60K NXT was sent to bter yesterday, but still not available on balance. blockchain says transfer was successful.
Support haven't answered yet.

Found different posts concerning bter balance problems here at BT.
Seems like they are scamming people.

Edit: my deposit that I sent about 9 hours ago just came through.

please check this
http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=6635869272840226493

While I am writing, recent transfers for the account are all transfer in, the transfer amount is more than 6M, while the balance of the account is less than 3M, how could this happen?

there are more pages
(that's dgex account btw)

Page 1 is the most recent records, right?  The balance is less than the recent transfer amount (which all are transfer in),  doesn't that mean the balance is negative before those transfers?

Something is wrong with the site, on the blockchain in my local client I'm seeing 213 confirmations on that transaction - while on the site, it says 3

http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=2000&tra=10556286089892141388

Also see here

http://www.mynxt.info/blockexplorer/details.php?action=ac&ac=6635869272840226493

I believe those other transactions came after the 5 M, not sure why the other blockchain site has the order messed up.

Is this possible? I mean the last transaction is 5million in. how can the balance to be 1,030,040 only?

That 5 M transaction only has 3 confirms so the site just hasn't updated the total balance yet
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [OFFER] Nxt to NEX - Exchange one Nxt to 50 NEX coins - LIMITED! on: January 22, 2014, 12:43:30 AM
FrictionlessCoin, my question is, if more and more people begin to know that they cannot move their LXT in or out of Bter, wouldn't the price collapse soon?

What are you talking about?

I've moved NXT in and out of Bter multiple times yesterday. My most recent deposit (5 hours ago) hasn't been posted yet, but looking at the main Bter account, they haven't processed them yet.

Uh... maybe I wasn't as patient as you.  5 hours is an awful long time to wait for a transaction to post.

I think they process the deposits manually and it's only 8:40 AM in China. Probably have a huge backlog to get through

Hmm, I'm getting like 19 coins a day with 100 kH/s (<0% rejected) on vert.bitcrush.info pool.

Difficulty went up at lot since my post  :-/ I'm down to 200 coins a day with 1000 kH now. However, the exchange rate went up quite a bit too - 0.0004 BTC on CoinedUp, so profitability is about the same.

Hey, when I checked my mobile phone this morning I noticed that an nVidia engineer has submitted an optimized kernel for Kepler devices. Apparently they are aware of the whole AMD vs nVidia  mining discrepancy and want to help me put nVidia into a better position.

I will review their code submission and integrate it if it's better than my code (which is likely, considering they designed this silicon). They don't include scrypt-jane yet, so I will have to do that part myself.

Christian

That is very cool. Can't wait to see the results.

Is actually anybody here trading at Bter? I see some issues with withdrawal/deposits reported:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=350078.80

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=377452.0

I bought a small amount of Nxt on Bter to test yesterday and withdrawl went through fine.

I've used them many times in the past and haven't had any issues.

Bter started off with a 200 NXT withdrawl limit but it's up to  200000 a day now.
