Not sure if people are aware but max withdrawl on BTER is only 200 NXT per day. So if you plan on buying or selling a lot just keep that in mind - hopefully  they raise it. Maybe they're testing things still.
262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty Protocol, Client and Coin (built on Bitcoin) - Official on: January 18, 2014, 03:45:34 AM
The Counterparty team is pleased to announce the beta availability of the counterpartyd API.

The API will enable applications to be developed around Counterparty and counterpartyd.

Please read the API documentation here: http://counterpartyd-build.readthedocs.org/en/latest/API.html

It's not 100% complete yet, but it covers the various functions and objects returned, as well as giving you an idea of how to get started with coding applications that work against the API.

Please report any bugs with the documentation or API itself via the forums, or via the appropriate github bug tracker. Pull requests for fixes or additional functionality are more than welcome!

Very well documented, awesome work  Cool

I read through this and have to say I am disappointed. Was expecting some real evidence, but all your points are merely based on a hunch.

eMunie uses Java... is CfB behind that too?  Cheesy

aspw issue is fixed in the newest push for Ubuntu 13.10. (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS build is currently broken because Werkzeug doesn't support python3.2, which that version of ubuntu uses). However as we will be most likely switching to from werkzeug cherrypy shortly (due to its much better WSGI performance) this isn't a super big deal.

Windows build will be fixed this afternoon. Probably what will need to happen is to use Python 3.2 (install that from the python site) and use the aspw library for that. If that is the 'fix', I'll just update the docs to say so.

Updated windows 64 installer will be issued once all of this is worked out.

Burning BTC using the last working version (not including the latest commit) is safe, correct?

I think so. At least, I did last night and it worked fine. Wasn't able to install apsw on my Mac as it required a newer SQLite version

Might be a stupid question, but can I burn twice from the same address? i.e. just send 0.01 BTC as a test, then send the rest
Yes, as long as it doesn't exceed 1BTC, but you can send 0.01BTC as a test and 0.99BTC afterwards.

Great, thanks.

Mining "CPU" coins with GPU is so mean...now everyone will try to find out how  Cry

GPUs aren't much more efficient than CPU for quark coins. When you factor in the fee Smelter takes, an i7 4770k is just about as good as a 280x

PM me if interested.

270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SHS] Shares [Second Generation Crypto Currency] [Project Announcement] on: January 15, 2014, 07:37:25 PM

I feel like Scambuster is BE's another account.
Registered couple of days ago and immediately started all this investigation, even though most likely he didn't invest. Why would he do this?
And why would BE cooperate with this particular guy?

Just my 2c. I've never been scammed in any of IPO, just looking at this drama because of Frozen.

P.S. I also find their writing style similar

I agree. The guy has some real nerve to call some of the investors scammers as well, if Block_Erupter actually keep record of what was invested overpayments wouldn't have happened, so that's on him. But obviously, this was all planned as a scam from the start, so he didn't.

As far as why he is doing this... I think the guy has been scamming for awhile and this latest incident spooked him. Perhaps he is even behind some of the other IPO scams. Doesn't want people here to dig deeper and expose his other crimes.
271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Trading Thread for Nxt :: Descendant of Bitcoin on: January 14, 2014, 05:46:14 AM
People actually buy this scamcoin?

Valuable insight there, stay away then and continue investing in DigiBytes and Klondikecoin... just a few gems I saw in your post history. Smiley
272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudapts - GPU mining for Protoshares (PTS) on: January 14, 2014, 05:35:03 AM
Fair enough then. I don't run things without any available source.

Edit: BTW, I should mention, I just set this up on another machine and the latest build from git is giving me 1250 c/m on a 780. With the build I was using previously I got around 1650.
273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: January 13, 2014, 06:09:52 PM
I am getting ~2.25khash/sec when autotune uses T9x2 on a GTX 780 3GB.
If I type gethashespersec in the console of YACoin wallet, it tells me 0, is that correct?
Using Windows 7, disabled the Aero theme.
Using 2518MB VRAM total, T10x2 or T20x1 seems to be slower and using more VRAM.
Am I doing it right?

Sounds about right for Windows. It's normal the YACoin client doesn't show your hash rate - it'll only do so if you are CPU mining from the wallet itself.
274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 13, 2014, 08:04:11 AM
cryptsy added 3 new coins. but not Nxt Huh

They probably won't add it anytime soon. Look, the new coins they added are just more clones, drop in replacements. They'd likely need to change some aspects of their backend to add NXT since the API is completely different. This isn't something that should be rushed.

Also I think it's a good thing... gives smaller developers that are working on dedicated NXT exchanges more of a chance to get noticed.
275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 13, 2014, 12:46:41 AM

does nxt handle 256 character passphase?

I believe the cutoff is 100 characters.  But I dont believe there is anything preventing the use of a wallet.dat type client with 256bit long keys

WTF....  So I could access people's wallet easily anywhere in the world with brute attacks.  Type password, "horsecock111"  Oh look, I found 100,000nxt. Cool!

BCnext, please support 256 characters for security reasons.

Um, WTF? You won't be able to brute force any 30 + character password that uses a mix of special characters, alpha and numerical even with a super computer so...
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 12, 2014, 06:56:46 PM
I know there are a lot of people following this thread who would like to contribute, but with it being so technical, not sure of how they can.

I have an idea that will let pretty much anybody contribute to NXT, but it will require someone to manage a bug tracking system. Not sure what the best bug tracking system is nowadays, but if anybody is familiar enough with it to set one up, that would be fantastic.

This way, people can report API bugs, usability bugs and everything in between.

James

JIRA is probably the best, but it's not free.

A friend of mine has used http://www.redmine.org/ before. I could have it up and running later today, hosting isn't an issue. Not sure what I should use for a domain.

I guess we already have one though?

277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: January 12, 2014, 04:39:55 AM
Switched over to Linux today, getting 4 kH/s on one of my 780s with T23x1. I can't use that config with the card I have connected to my monitor, though, runs out of VRAM. Dropped down to T17x1 on the other card and getting 7 kH/s combined, not bad Smiley
278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 11, 2014, 08:00:12 PM
There's a piece i'm missing in NXT. With many of the other coins, you see shops and services popping up that take some particular altcoin as a payment, but not with NXT - why not? Only one shop so far.

The API is different from all the other copycat altcoins, so setting up a payment processor would take some work... and I'm not aware of any helper libraries out there yet to interact with the API.

hi dga

is this guy using your source code? The project name in his screenshot looks just like yours.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=410111.0

thanks

It seems to be the same. Gotta say that's pretty scummy, no credit to the original author and asks for donations  Angry

I wasn't keeping up with this thread for the last few weeks and now that I'm back, all I'm seeing is talk about scrypt-jane currencies, so I'm kind of confused.
Why the sudden surge of interest for these? Are scrypt currencies least profitable now or is this just a trend? Is this due to a new functionality of CudaMiner?

Well I think for Nvidia, yacoin mining is more profitable than LTC. Plus scrypt-jane uses less power so you save on electricity costs too. Haven't really checked the numbers to be honest, I just like tinkering with new stuff  Tongue
