Not surprising.
602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] yacoin: yet another altcoin. START is now. on: May 13, 2013, 12:45:30 AM
Does luke-jr have a history as altcoin analyser? His post is very short...

He's a developer on Bitcoin. Granted, I'm not saying his claims are valid or anything. I simply posted it because it seemed to go overlooked earlier and thought it would be worth discussing among people that understand the source.
He's one from developers team. Also known as BTC fundamentalist. Roll Eyes

Few months ago he released patch for NVC client, in order to make chain fork starting from block #5500. We all know the results.

Even a genius can make a fool of himself, if he dedicated himself for irrational emotions.

So Luke-Jr engages in sabotage? Shocking!

I read pretty negative things about Luke-Jr before. It seems like there is a major feud between ckolivas (the original author of cgminer) kano and Luke-Jr. You might subsume that the latter did some forking/stealing of code without credits etc. See here, e.g.

In effect, Con has decided that CGMiner will become/live on (how long?) as a de facto hostile fork of BFGMiner (which has continuity of maintenance). I'm disappointed Con has chosen to severe cooperation between CGMiner and BFGMiner, but I hope to continue pulling as many improvements from CGMiner as possible

How can he even dare to claim that CGMiner is the hostile fork and pull as many improvements from CGMiner? He is even contradicting himself there!

I am not happy at all seeing all this greed, stealing, FUD-ing and scamming in this altcoin forum. But what should I expect if reputation is counted in number of posts... Wink

There's a YAC tip going your way, sir.
Thank you, Sir!

Thanks for looking into it. I appreciate the facts coming out, we need less FUD on these forums. Sending some YAC your way.

604  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Franko install client has malware, dont download it. on: May 12, 2013, 09:25:23 PM
Seriously, it there any evidence the code source contains malware?

Nope. Just FUD being spread because the OP missed out on being an early adopter or whatever.

The dev actually cares about the project going by his posts here, so I wish him the best of luck.
605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any idea on when GOX will implement LTC? on: May 12, 2013, 08:48:22 PM

Yep, LTC and NMC for sure. Haven't seen evidence for any other coins like PPC.
606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any idea on when GOX will implement LTC? on: May 12, 2013, 08:36:02 PM
I am expecting a timeframe of BFL proportions.

+1 They will probably will wait until the new trading engine is finished, so it's going to be awhile. Also, the current interface wouldn't accommodate multiple currencies well IMO.

Why would it take a while? Are they short staffed?

I just think if it was coming anytime in the near future they would say something more than "we have no ETA." I don't think they are short-staffed, but they want to take their time and get it right, Gox can't afford more PR blunders.

Any guide on compiling minerd (scrypt-jane) for Ubuntu 64 bit and CPU Athlon64 x2 ? I installed Ubuntu 12.04 few hours ago so surely missing a lot of dependencies there.

Apparently the N factor allocation is broken...

Haven't you dumped all your YAC? I think you did so how about moving to some other altcoin now and leaving those still interested in YAC alone?

Already did, yep. Just warning people. I've moved on since.
609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Yacoin Price about to Jump on: May 12, 2013, 06:58:40 PM

CNC got on by a fluke. Going by posts  here people for some reason were buying into the belief that it'd take off big in China. BTC-E just took advantage of all the hysteria Smiley Probably made a good amount in trading fees. YAC hasn't captured the same interest, so I wouldn't get your hopes up...
610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Self moderated topics? on: May 12, 2013, 06:53:31 PM
Yeah, people are using it to manipulate threads to their own agenda. I just ignore anyone that uses it now.
611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ★★ ▀▄▀▄▀ YACoin Now LIVE on BTER ▀▄▀▄▀ ★★ on: May 12, 2013, 06:42:03 PM
Here's hoping BTC-E implement, I was hoping for a 0.02-3 range in pricing, sub 0.001 is too low.

Agreed.   YAC/BTC belongs up there with NVC around 0.02 - 0.03

Never gonna happen. It's an experimental coin that belongs in the garbage.

I posted it in several other threads to raise awareness, but this post from Luke-Jr was pretty telling: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=200170.msg2117745#msg2117745

I dumped my coins last night when the price rallied back up to .001 after reading that. If you think it isn't going to fall any lower at this point, good luck.
612  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] yacoin: yet another altcoin. START is now. on: May 12, 2013, 06:21:22 PM

Using the nfactor calculating code from the client I get for the coming year (timestamps in UTC):

Wed May  8 05:33:20 2013, factor: 4
Tue May 14 07:11:28 2013, factor: 5
Fri May 17 08:00:32 2013, factor: 6
Mon May 20 08:49:36 2013, factor: 7
Wed May 29 11:16:48 2013, factor: 8
Sat Jun  1 12:05:52 2013, factor: 9
Tue Jun 25 18:38:24 2013, factor: 10
Sun Jul  7 21:54:40 2013, factor: 11
Tue Aug 13 07:43:28 2013, factor: 12
Mon Sep 30 20:48:32 2013, factor: 13
Mon Nov 18 09:53:36 2013, factor: 14

Apparently the N factor allocation is broken...

613  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Yacoin Price about to Jump on: May 12, 2013, 06:09:58 PM
Did you guys read what Luke-Jr said in another thread?

I was under the impression PPCoin's PoS was not really working yet, and that nobody else had done any development on it...

Update after reading some code:
  • Nfactor is only used for memory allocation size - so it has no actual effect on the implementation; in other words, N is not dynamic
  • The code is quite messy, and even something as simple as the memory allocator is broken (it pretty much ignores the size of the allocation request)

I think this one gets a "scamcoin" classification...

I think there's potential for a CPU only coin, but YAC doesn't seem to be it.
614  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ░░░░▒▒▒▓▓▓ BUYING 1.000 Franko(FRK)▓▓▓▒▒▒░░░░ hdclover is a scammer on: May 12, 2013, 05:40:05 PM
He's probably a scammer. He purports himself to be a part of BTER's support team in his signature yet has no connection at all.
615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Self moderated topics? on: May 12, 2013, 05:37:57 PM
This forum has become a cesspool, full of scammers and FUD. It was bad before, but it's gotten way worse over the past few days.
616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTB] 100 Frankos for 8 Btc on: May 12, 2013, 09:02:54 AM
He's a scammer... hopefully you haven't sent him BTC.
617  Other / Off-topic / Re: The Dark Shadow Creeping Over Our Forums - limitless on: May 12, 2013, 08:53:51 AM
this is why we need to have different passwords and account names for every pool you join, for everything. some poolop could be legit for months and months and build great rep, and suddenly seize every single account he can from pool logins/pws.

One tip if you really really can't remember multiple passwords - use a base one with the first/second letter of the website you're on added to the end!

No way, don't do this for any site that contains important data. Use completely different passwords.
618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] New Crypto Currency - GameCoin (GMC) on: May 12, 2013, 06:45:23 AM
Not bothering with this one. You call it 'GameCoin' and don't even bother to create at least one gaming-related service yourself? Might've actually had some potential if you put work into it.
619  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I sleep tonight? on: May 12, 2013, 06:33:41 AM
I think it's done for, wall is at 0.00067 and from there it's all downhill.

Agreed. I dumped most of my coins when it went back up to .001, sold the rest at .00085

Unfortunately YAC is associated with a lot of scam here and I think it's really tarnished the reputation of the coin. That's the only reason I sold.

Maybe I'm wrong, and I'll be kicking myself for selling tomorrow morning. I doubt it though.
620  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: YAC will be on BTC-E confirmed. on: May 12, 2013, 06:06:10 AM
I just emailed BTC-e support, this was the response:

"Support N -na- <support@btc-e.com
10:26 PM (20 minutes ago) to me

We are not planning to add new currency right now.

This topic is likely a troll. There's also the chance that limitless is in control of the OPs account and posted this to prop up the price while he dumped his scammed coins. Fits the timeline... could be giving him too much credit though.
