1901  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Miningrigs Rental, Smaller rig better? on: December 14, 2015, 02:24:10 AM
Me personally I prefer if it's a bundle of couple S5 in comparison to smaller miners but in case your looking to rent it out, it would be harder in comparison to smaller rigs so depending on how many you have there, maybe testing out, bundle some up and leave the others in smaller rigs and see which one they rent more.

Thanks for the information.

Do you or anyone know why 2 of my S5 randomly seem to like to drop to half hashrate speed while mining on that site?

I've had this happen rarely, very briefly, but now its happening once every other hours and it does not auto recover.
1902  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: I'm planning to buy 50 antminer s3, how to conditionate a room. on: December 14, 2015, 01:00:56 AM
You should not buy even s5 , you have to go for s7 from now.. you can not ROI with s3

What are you talking about, i can ROI S1 right now because of how crazy the price raise is. Also OP already mentioned he ended up with a S4.
1903  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 13, 2015, 11:28:00 PM
Yes very nice, that's more like the sort of Overclock that we should be seeing.  Smiley

Technically according to the BM1385 Data Sheet with 12.8V you should be able to run 775MHz giving 6278GH/s  Grin Although I would want the fans running flat out for that...

Rich

LOL, agreed...

Might have to have a mechanism to provide a steady mist of hydrogen while he's at it in order to keep them below 80C.  LOL

Only kidding around...

Beside the chips heating up. Do you think there's any tear on the circuits itself that would make the unit wear off too quick?

Because at this level of gain, i'd just build it an enclosure with an air circuit that goes strait outside with sonopan and bam. Run the fan full speed with no noise.
1904  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: December 13, 2015, 09:02:42 PM
They are only 225 MHz standard.

Do you have link for those 2x hubs on amazon?
Which one of those do you like best?

I think 150MHz is standard, 225 is overclocked Smiley.

Amazon links for the hubs I have:

Orico: http://www.amazon.co.uk/ORICO-Charging-Adapter-Support-Android/dp/B00U1FZAF4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1450039256&sr=8-2&keywords=orico+60w+hub

Anker: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker%C2%AE-PowerIQ-Charging-Samsung-Motorola/dp/B00VE4UJD4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450039298&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+60w+hub

I prefer the Anker because the sticks will stand upright, it will take 7 sticks side by side using all 7 ports but you have 3 extra power usb ports at the end so I use 1 for an umbrella fan: http://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-Breeze-Mobile-Everywhere-Notebooks/dp/B003XN24GY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1450039452&sr=8-2&keywords=arctic+fan

I only have 6 sticks though so to use all 6 in the hub I cant go above 250MHz because with the fan as well I get lots of hardware errors and cgminer will crash.

Found a picture of Anker when I just had 2 sticks:

I had the same setup as you, but with a 10port Teknek. With the same small fan. Then i decided duct tape + 24/7 PC = Free air flow from PC intake;

https://i.imgur.com/OvztKjU.jpg?1

I run mine at 225mhz as well, 12.4GH/s average. The temp is at 45C, not too shabby.

1905  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying Bitcoins with Personal Checks? on: December 13, 2015, 08:51:34 PM
Hello, I was wondering if there is anywhere I can buy Bitcoins with my Personal Checks?
If not then I'll just put the money in my bank account and then do cash deposits.
 Cheers Cheesy

I'm guessing you could give it a go in the currency exchange sub forum. Here you can't chargeback a cheque, if it work the same there, you may find someone who would not mind selling you the Bitcoin for a small premium, for the service of him having to go to a bank and after releasing you the BTC. If you're in the US you would need someone from the US.

But if you can do cheque, you should also be able to wire or do e-interact, or use a service such as CoinBase and simply buy BTC with your interact card.
1906  Other / Meta / Re: Help me, lol on: December 13, 2015, 08:45:40 PM
theymos restricted them due to abuse. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1172918.0

You could ask a higher rank member to quote your post and then the image will show.

Forgetting that you can wait until you're Junior Member and you will be able to post images.

How many posts required to become junior member?

8 More activity post. Though you need to have 8 eligible activity. Potential activity is 1 per day, updated every two weeks i believe. Basically after the next activity update, you'll be able to go up to 42 activity i think, up from 28.
1907  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Budget: €200 - Which miner should I buy as a beginner? on: December 13, 2015, 08:36:53 PM
I'd recommend something smaller for solo mining, since there is not a big difference in odds of mining with a small stick (10GH/s) that consume 2 watts versus 900GH/s that consume 750~ watts, but the later's cost will add up fairly quickly.

I'd recommend a Sidehack stick for little ongoing costs. An undervolted S1 for low initial costs @ 90-140GH/s @ 80-160Watts and THEN a single S3.
Yeah for sure, I was planning on running different rigs for different purposes in the future. I'm thinking a couple of small asics for solo mining and the S3 for mining in a regular pool.
Hoping to get everything running in the nesxt couple of weeks/months Smiley

Great, then.

A sidehack stick could be pretty chill to figuring out solo mining, but the way it is recommended to do it, is just point at a solo pool, so in term of technicality its even simpler than(setting up normal mining) managing regular payouts, since the payouts will not happen. (lol)

Then mining with a S3 on a regular pool to get the hang of managing a mining "operation" is a good idea.

How much do you sell your electricity for?
I forgot to add that excess energy during the day, is 'deducted' from the power used during the night.
Anything that's left after that gets sold at around 0.12 euro per Kwh (per 1000 Kwh)

Thats very expensive for electricity. Buying more solar panel or hydro turbines and selling the excess electricity might be better than mining Bitcoins, because anything over 0.09 per kWh is considered outright "bad" for mining. It would be cheaper to use cloud or coop hosting and those are angled at making money off the hosting (off you).

So you can tell how bad of a situation mining with such a high electric rare would be.
I'm not interested in expanding my solar set-up though, I have limited roof space for one Wink
Plus I'm sure I've left out some information by mistake, since having solar panels has been a bureaucratic mess (subsidies cut every year & taxes added recently).

The price you pay per Kwh is even crazier, just looked it up and it's around 0.23 euro

That is pretty bad on electricity honestly don't go to big if you want to go big look at hosting centers they would do 1/2 easily possibly 1/3 of some compared to your current electricity.

Also these places have no Vats on some of them.  So lot better as far as ROI.  But it would suck to not be able to tinker with them.
Yeah that's the thing, I want to tinker with them. But it might be more fun to set up something small with a bunch of small usb stick asics and let that solo mine all day.
Also, I've had a look at my current power usage, annd it appears that I'm not even coming close to what I'm currently generating, so it's definitely worth it imo to mess around with a small rig

For fun, absolutely. Money wise, selling your electricity is the best, however, if you as you say get something small just to tinker and solo mine, there would be no problem. There's a whole thread about the Sidehack Gekko stick and people have nice or big setup of them.

Maybe you could do the same, and once you're done messing with it, you'll only be "losing" a small amount of electricity to it.
1908  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 13, 2015, 03:43:58 PM
You're talking about an MSP. An MSP = main service panel. PANEL. MSB = main service breaker. All breakers are to be derated to 80% if used 100% for more than 3 hours, unless specifically rated for 100% use 24/7. Why do you need to know what page it is? Why are you so reluctant to admit that everyone is right and you're wrong about the MSB? (seems this isn't the first time you've argued about this judging from your earlier comment)

Instead of asking me for more proof and telling me you don't want opinions, prove to me that a MSB doesn't have to be derated. Your opinion doesn't count. I want cold hard facts as proof. Until then, please don't endanger people with advice that you're not 100% sure about, and please consider your own safety in regards to running your own MSB at 100%.

I agree with Prelude on this. 80% continuous load is the universal rule of thumb. just because a breaker *can* handle continuous 100% load, or rated to handle as much as >120% surges before tripping, does not mean you should operate at max.

sure, the rules generally consider applications with longer, poorly ventilated wire runs (such as the walls of an older home), but if you care about safety you can just spend another $100-200 to put in an extra breaker and wire run. Its a lot better than risking >$50,000 in fire damage if something fails.

found this:
"If you have a branch circuit supplying nothing but continuous loads, then the minimum conductor size must have an ampacity of 125% of the load 210.19(A)(1) and the overcurrent protection must be 125% of the load 210.20(A). Therefore, the breaker must be loaded to no more than 80% of its rating."

The things are rigged/designed to trip at their designated limit.

You can design a build than can handle and goes at or higher than "100%",  then sure, but you're still going to trip the thing 4 times a day. If it doesnt trip, its because something is wrong and you might start smelling something called your whole place bursting into flames.

80% is a good safety standard for most electric stuff, both for handling spikes and for continuous loads.

Beside certain PSU, like the EVGA G2 which can handle 1200Watts but are labeled EVGA G2 1000w, 100% load is usually bad.
1909  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer s5 dead board, reflow? on: December 13, 2015, 03:38:42 PM
give it a shot and follow all he said i did it in a small toaster oven it worked and lasted a while, but i got sold a bad S5, to start with ,they made good on and told me to keep it . what have you got lose but maybe regain your S5 back .

Just don't melt the chips, then if it is not successfully revived, the board itself will still have some value in term of chips/salvage parts. Maybe 25 to 50USD, depending on if those Sidehack pods take off or not.

VirosaGITS
Thanks dear , as u say in PM ( also maybe someone like me interest to know , i start this Thread )

How many Miner we need ?
can u put the Model + Image of it ? cause i am new into it.

This is the S7;
https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=000201511170341298180m44675v0613

You would need 213 of them and it would cost 277000 USD, you would also need PSU for all of them. Its much smaller than the first figures we discussed but i still think this would be pretty much in the viscinity of datacenter scale.

The avalon 6 is a solid unit but its too expensive and i think it would be better suited for someone that want a quieter unit at home.
1911  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hardware / Budget for Earning 20 BTC Month ? on: December 13, 2015, 03:01:53 PM
Hello
i am newbie in Bitcoin.
i want to know how much Budget i need to Setup Mining for Earnig 20/Month ?

Questions :
1-What Hardware ?
2-How many ?
3-Other info ?

As per the PM.

(Just taking the same numbers i gave you for the prior 100BTC you asked per month, and i divided them by 5)

A bit over 1 Petha hash. 0.3~0.5 millions USD just for the hashrate, probably another 0.1 millions in infrastructure. You'd probably need employee or sub contracts to help you set it up and maintain it.

You're talking about something like 220 S7's or 280 Avalon 6. You could also go with 600 S5, it would probably be cheaper.

Not much difference at this scale, its just size. Still a lot of work.
1912  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer s5 dead board, reflow? on: December 13, 2015, 02:58:56 PM
Hi. Recently, one board of my antminer s5 died. The red led on the board won't turn on, and it's cold. Shows up as ----------- on the miner config. I wonder if that's a situation that could be fixed by a reflow?. And, does anyone know what to expect/what to measure on the PCB test points?, like the expected core voltages and so on. Thanks.

Checking core voltage should give you an idea. My dead board has things all over the place, from proper 0.6x volt to 30mV. From how to repair this, i don't know if its doable, its pretty hard. (Maybe RichBC can reply to this in less noob terms)

If its really dead and you tried a different psu, swapping the controller of sides and such, then you don't really risk much doing a reflow, its not impossible that it will bring it back alive, but it did not work for me.
1913  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: cryptoGlance [v2.1] :: Open-source, self-hosted, multi-rig monitoring tool! on: December 13, 2015, 11:12:00 AM
Looking nice so far, trying to do the switch from M's Miner Monitor.

Is there a particular reason BitcoinCZ is not in the pool thing? Not sure what that feature even do, but i was wondering if they did not have the API or something!
1914  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: *** GHash.IO mining pool official page *** on: December 13, 2015, 02:00:25 AM
I have not used GHash.io for a long time, i am trying again because i was told ASIC Tubes don't act up when pointed to this pool.

I can't find a auto payout feature, i'm just worried i could have a old BTC address already set that i no longer control.

Is there just not one?
If there is, where is the auto payout option? Thanks.

if its the same as it was before you have to log into cex to send your coins to a bitcoin address as the pool auto sends your coins to that exchange..

i stopped mining here because they take a fee to give your coins back..

I do see a 0.001 commission. So what you are saying is, there would not be an auto payout at all, they just call their "Auto-Payout" when they credit your BTC to the exchange?

No matter what i have to manually withdraw from the exchange, no way to auto payout to an address of my choice?

it had an option to auto payout when it hit a threshold, but i could never get it to work.. it would go days.. remember this was awhile ago.. year or more and at that time i was gpu mining on their multipool which i think they shut down.

if your tubes only work on this pool i woudlnt worry about it. just throw them on and see what happens. your bitcoin address should be in your account settings on cex if its setup.

Ah i see. It was convoluted (having to deal with the exchange instead of the pool directly), but i found it in url+/trade/profile/payout (full url seem to be getting censored)

Cleared it so no risk of having BTC sent somewhere i don't control.

Thanks Smiley
I don't know if the Tubes's BE Controller will stop crashing/temporarily stopping sometimes on Ghash, but now two different people recommended it and i've also read about that before, so, i am reluctantly trying it, now.
1915  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: December 13, 2015, 01:18:08 AM

That is pretty cheap. I'd kind of link overclocking my stick to 20GH/s, maybe this would work.

Anyone know if these make noise? I just have a bad experience with small fans. So far it seem the smaller they are, the more ear-rape they are.

1917  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Budget: €200 - Which miner should I buy as a beginner? on: December 12, 2015, 11:56:13 PM
I'm new to Bitcoin mining and I was wondering which miners I should buy to get started?
I would have them shipped to Belgium, so if anyone from Europe could recommend a store that offers relatively cheap shipping, that would be nice.

I'm not expecting to make huge amounts of Bitcoins with this, it just seems really interesting to get started with.
An advantage that I have is 'free' solar power, with that in mind it might still be profitable?

Thanks for anyone willing to offer me any advice!

Possibly get 4 U3 miners from Amazontm. Delivery should be free, and each miner (with power supply) is around £39 (less than fifty euros), Then connect these to a computer or Raspberry PI (raspberry Pis are around thirty euros from amazon, you only need a B+ mdel!).

Hope this helps you rmining project!
Jack G

(NOTE: you may also be interested in purchasing a used antminer server from somewhere like ebay, but less hashes will be made from that!)

(The U3 Miners are said to run at around 50 GHs with a maximum of 63GHs before overclocking!)

You may also wish to just go to hashnest and deposit your 50GHs on a share of an S7 miner! You will own the share of the miner and can get a greater profit from it as electricity costs are lower!

Yes for hashnest. The electricity rate for OP is higher than rip off cloud hosting. (seriously)

No for U3. Unless you have a way to auto unzombify them, they are a pain in the ass.

Hes going to need free solar.  The bad thing about Europe is the vat/import tax.  It can be a big amount.

So prices of miners in Europe normally are higher then say US.  With 200 you might get S3 or something in Europe do some ROI math though.  I don't think you will get to much newer then S3.  But I could be wrong.  I don't think I am with how Europe is higher on miners.
Yeah you're right about the import tax, though I know that items (electronics) with a value under 55 euro ordered from China are exempt from VAT in Belgium.
So it might be a good idea to buy some cheap rigs separately?

You can also buy miners locally that may come cheaper than online, and also if you buy miners that VAT was already paid, and the seller does not mark it up into the price, then you might also be a winner here.

The problem is that typically, smaller miners are not efficient, so it term of ongoing cost, it may be a loss to do it that way.
