Hi everyone, please can someone put me through on how the forum works, because I can't find my way around it please. Thanks.
First of all, welcome to bitcointalk.

What I noticed though is that almost immediately after you created this account you came here asking how this forum works. While there is nothing wrong about asking anything, I would suggest you to give it some more time and explore forum by yourself and do it at your pwn pace  because newbies often feel like they have to know everything and now which I don't think is a good thing to do as it may feel overwhelming.

At least lucky me that my opponent @Rikafip made the exact same prediction as me. Both of us started 0/2 on questions and it isn't exactly the exciting competition I expected to see.
Yep, both of us having a slow start. I was quite bad during previous season so it looks like I just continued  in the same fashion in the new one.  Cheesy

This time I expect a worse performance than Jokic compared to most of the expectations. But I'm aware that it is really risky while he is this much consistent and scoring so many points in the meantime.
Well, even though you expected him to peform bad, looks like we both ended up having one correct answer. What's even worse, i expected him to have a generally good night, but for whatever reason I didn't see that last part about field goal percentage so I didn't evenm answer that part (and that's where you gave a correct answer).

Your reply is true but personally, I think Sarah Azhari implied about negative attitude towards forum members with reporter badges in general.
Reading her post again, might be that I misunderstood her concerns.

Spammers, shit posters might not know who report their posts but when they lose their minds, they might pull their gun towards reporter-badged members.
I might be wrong here, but I really think that people who deserve the report post badge (those very few with a large amount of reports) would have no issues dealing with some heat from an ocassional shitposter who would be triggered enough go against anypne with a badge so I don't think that would be a problem either.
1465  Economy / Exchanges / Re: SEC sues Binance and CZ on: June 08, 2023, 06:03:36 AM
If anyone does not see this lawsuit as a surprise, do you know what would come as a surprise? The allegation in this article hehehe. This shows Gary Gensler's hypocrisy. There was also a video of him where he was shilling Algorand, telling his listeners in MIT that Uber could be built in this blockchain hehehehe.
Hah yeah, I saw that news yesterday and it really made me chuckle. Hopefully it will show to general public what kind of clown Gary Gensler actually is.

I am starting to speculate that he might have lost a big investment in an altcoin somewhere which might have also triggered his personal war against the cryptospace.
Maybe that, and/or being pissed of that he wasn't given role of a Binance advisor. Either way, there is probably a personal reason for being so angry at crypto. Cheesy
1466  Other / Meta / Re: Monthly Report Statistics on: June 07, 2023, 06:19:44 AM
It is worth discussing the meaning or meaninglessness of something only if it concerns everyone. If some activity is strictly voluntary, then why these arguments about whether it makes sense or not?
You seem to keep forgetting that someone actually has to manually handle those reports, they are not automatically deleted. So its not only about those few who report old posts.

With that being said, maybe forum staff concluded that moderators energy should be more focused at reports that affect members (and therefore forum) more, which are of those recently written posts instead spending a lot of their time going through thousands of reports each month that affect forum members very little, if anything.

Now we see that no one else directs any energy anywhere. Nobody cares about these reports.
Hence small incentive like report badge or something along those lines. Don't get me wrong, I personally don't care about the badges at all but I am pretty certain that would make people report way more so why not. Only problem is that chances of that happening are slim to none but who knows, stranger things have happened.
1467  Economy / Exchanges / Re: SEC sues Binance and CZ on: June 07, 2023, 06:04:02 AM
After the Binance and coinbase is sued by SEC,maybe more people will choose the DEX,do you think so?
Nope. At least not in a significant measure.

If fall of first Mt.Gox and then FTX didn't make people move away from centralized exchanges, I don't think these measures will either. All it will eventually lead to is more restrictions & regulations and that's about it.
1468  Other / Meta / Re: Monthly Report Statistics on: June 07, 2023, 05:39:48 AM
With such thinking, you can generally stoop to the point that let's not report any posts at all.
Slippery slope.

Reporting a post from 2015-2017 may not make sense, reporting a post from 2020 does make sense, as topics containing such posts are often still active, and if they become a little cleaner, no one will get worse from this.
Forum won't become a worse place by deleting 3 years old posts, but I don't think it will become noticeably better either. At least not enough that its worth it to deal with those. After all, I don't think that only important metric is number of deleted posts, but also where and when those posts are written as well, but unfortunately that's info that we don't have access to.

In my opinion, 1 report of a post written today by a signature campaign shitposter is worth more than 100 reports of old bumps and similar shitposts written 3 years ago by some low rank shitposter or paid thread bumper. And that's why I like this new change, because those who like to report can actually focus their energy on something that affects this forum much more.

Yes, indeed, let's put on beautiful badges, and tons of shit will continue to lie on the forum. It turns out that the meaning of reporting is not to remove as much garbage as possible, but to stick some useless nonsense to the user that does not affect anything. Indeed, it makes a lot more sense.
Introducing badges would make people report more recently produced garbage (that's simply how things work as people like these kind of things) which in the end would make this forum much better place than removing posts written years ago. Keep in mind that you are still free to report old posts and they will get deleted unless you report it for one of the trivial reasons.

Is the member who has a reporter badge will be accused and will be hated?

because who knows, the member whose post was deleted, getting not paid because of not enough weekly post quota, and they accused members who have reporter badges
Reports are anonymous, no one except forum staff knows who reported which post.
1469  Economy / Exchanges / Re: SEC sues Coinbase for listing securities on: June 06, 2023, 04:22:57 PM
Did they manage to properly define (in legal terms, like for business) how to decide whether a coin/token is security or not?
Based on the list of tokens/coins they included, I honestly doubt that. But if you ask Gary Gensler, I am sure that he would tell you that every cryptocurrency is security unless proven otherwise. Cheesy

I was joking of course, but the real pizza is the Italian one: here we have at least one pizzeria in every neighborhood  Cool
Situation is similar in a big part of Europe (and I guess US) as well, there are pizzerias everywhere. But its true, you are the kings of pizza, and I would add that you have generally the best cuisine in the world (Greece is a close 2nd to me).

Out of curiosity I just checked Google maps and in 500 meters radius of the place I live at the moment (very touristy city) there are 7 pizzerias. Unfortunately, I am very picky when it comes to pizza (more experience, higher demands) and rarely eat at any of those places so to actually get a very good neapolitan pizza I have to travel 4-5 km.

Also, both exchanges regulatory problems have no reason to affect bitcoin.
Well, those are the two most trusted/popular exchanges so every problem that they have affect bitcoin price in short term. That's just how market works.

It's really amusing that people jump into conclusion about issues that they know nothing about.
Maybe you should try to express yourself better so people won't have to guess and assume. You are supposed to be a writer after all.

1473  Other / Meta / Re: Monthly Report Statistics on: June 06, 2023, 01:57:40 PM

Or cancel the latest innovations related to restrictions on sending reports older than 6 months.
Imho, that latest innovation actually makes sense because what's even point of reporting several years old post (unless its malware of course)? I might be wrong here, but seems to me that it was mainly used for the sort of stat padding and nothing else.

That's why I think theymos should implement something like  reporting badges with some small perks so there's at least some incentive.
+1, that makes more sense than allowing reports of the old posts just for the sake of increasing post report number.

Evo izvora tko hoce citati detaljnije https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nysd.599908/gov.uscourts.nysd.599908.1.0.pdf
1475  Economy / Exchanges / SEC sues Coinbase for listing securities on: June 06, 2023, 12:30:43 PM
After suing Binance and CZ yesterday, SEC focused on Coinbase today claiming that they acted as an unregistered broker. SEC claims that SOL, ADA, MATIC, FIL, SAND, AXS, CHZ, FLOW, ICP, NEAR, VGX, DASH, and NEXO that are all listed on Coinbase are securities.

Interesting days ahead and I can see bitcoin price going even more down.

Coinbase operates a trading platform (the “Coinbase Platform”) through which U.S. customers can buy, sell, and trade crypto assets. The assets that Coinbase makes available include crypto asset securities. Coinbase is the largest crypto asset trading platform in the United States and has serviced over 108 million customers, accounting for billions of dollars in daily trading volume in hundreds of crypto assets. The Coinbase Platform merges three functions that are typically separated in traditional securities markets—those of brokers, exchanges, and clearing agencies. Yet, Coinbase has never registered with the SEC as a broker, national securities exchange, or clearing agency, thus evading the disclosure regime that Congress has established for our securities markets.
All the while, Coinbase has earned billions of dollars in revenues by, among other things, collecting transaction fees from investors whom Coinbase has deprived of the disclosures and protections that registration entails and thus exposed to significant risk.

Throughout the Relevant Period, Coinbase has made available for trading crypto assets that are being offered and sold as investment contracts, and thus as securities. This includes, but is not limited to, the units of each of the crypto asset securities further described below—with trading symbols SOL, ADA, MATIC, FIL, SAND, AXS, CHZ, FLOW, ICP, NEAR, VGX, DASH,
and NEXO—(the “Crypto Asset Securities”)

I'm not familiar with the legalities here but what I can't seem to understand is why is CZ still running Binance.us with everything that has been happening with BUSD and the CFTC lately.
I've asked myself the very same question and only thing that makes sense is that he is either making enough money that is worth it to go though all that hassle, or he plans to make it in the future so its worth it to suck it up and fight.

Take note while this is definitely not good, it's important to understand that this is a civil case NOT a criminal case; as pointed out in the below tweet. I'm not some law expert but I'd assume it's a significant difference.

https://twitter.com/WuBlockchain/status/1665751740380229632?s=20
One of the users commented under that tweet "That doesn't prevent criminal charges at a later date once more is revealed through discovery in the civil suit" so maybe their evidence is just not strong enough as of yet.

Let's not question a nation for a Merit Farmer newbie.
And where exactly I did that? Those who seen me around here know (at least I hope they do) that I am big supporter of local boards/communities and I have no idea why you felt that way just because I asked is that how they make it over there (I checked his post history and saw he is active in Bengali local topic, hence my question).

They are not here to compete.
I know.

But, they must see a pizza on their smartphone and I am not sure why they posted such bullshit
Laziness.

Sometimes we people feel ashamed of those merit farmers.
Why would you feel ashamed of a merit farmer? They should be ashamed and that's why I called him out.

Yep, perfect recipe for a delicious pizza: potatoes, some sort of legumes (I guess), garlic and onion put on top of some sort of flour and not even baked.  Smh...

Seriously buddy, what is this? Have you never seen pizza in your life as I somehow doubt that's how they make it in Bangladesh.

New day, new problems for Binance and CZ in the US. After getting sued by CFTC earlier this year, this time SEC sued them them for breaking US securities rules.

Looks to me like its just the matter of time when Binance leaves US market completely, whether they want it or not.

1480  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Do Kwon arrested on: June 05, 2023, 08:25:01 AM
After Do Kwon's and his buddy first had their bail requests approved and then annuled (prosecutor ofc claimed that bail was too low) in the end they got them aproved again and should be released.

It still baffles me that they even allowed him bail after everything, let al;one setting that ridicolously low amount for something as rish as he is.

The Montenegro court handling Terra founder Do Kwon's passport forgery case has accepted his 400,000 euro ($428,000) bail request after a higher court annulled a previous approval, according to a Friday announcement.

In March, Kwon, along with former Terra executive Han Chang-joon, were arrested in Montenegro for allegedly attempting to travel with falsified documents. Authorities in South Korea had been searching for Kwon after his multi-billion dollar crypto enterprise collapsed in May last year. Since his arrest, both South Korea and the U.S. have requested Kwon's extradition to face criminal charges following his trial in Montenegro.

The basic court in the capital city of Podgorica had already approved a bail request from Kwon's lawyers for the same amount, but it was annulled after prosecution appealed the decision, and a higher court found that the first approval was not based on a sound assessment of the defendants' property based on "concrete evidence."
