My Raspberry PI got shorted out, a diode on the backside burnt out. I had upgraded from v1 Mboard over to v2.3 Mboard. It lasted just 5 minutes or so before burning out. Now back to v1 Mboard. I think the PI does not like being fed power through the pins, and rather expects a micro-usb plug.
I am not sure if the version of the M-board matters. A month ago my RPi lost its GPIO functionality when I powered down a v1 M-board. I wonder if putting a decoupling capacitor between the GPIO power pin and ground would help? Part of the problem with powering the Pi from the GPIO pins is that there is no over-voltage protection there - a spike on the m-board's 5V line will destroy the Pi. Ask me - I've got an m-board sitting here that smoked two of them in a matter of days. Powering the Pi from the GPIO pins is, by the way, NOT recommended.... Ha! Part of the problem looks like the spike protection circuit (the TVS diode). Apparently it smokes up when it senses transient power from the 5V out lines on the GPIO headers. To be on the safe side, I recommend de-soldering D17, the black TVS diode on the back of PI, near the micro-USB plug and green fuse. I have removed it from my other working rPI, and it seems to be pretty happy since last one day.

Hey my Raspberry PI just burnt out. I upgraded to a new v2.3 M-board and it burnt my raspberry Pi. Component D17, a black diode near the micro-usb port had white smoke coming out of it. I desoldered the component, and the PI powers up, but looks like the IO pins are shot as no Miners are detected anymore. Plugged the PI into a v1 board with same results.
the v2 m-board has the RPi flipped upwards rather than downwards like the v1. did you rotate it 180 when changing boards? Nope (HDMI port facing upwards), it was running fine for a few minutes, and then it stopped working and I realized the component D17 was very hot. Basically the component that blew out is this (D17). It makes sense, I had just powered cycled the M-board, when this guy probably sensed transient voltage, and started destroying itself. After a few minutes magic white smoke. http://www.littelfuse.com/products/tvs-diodes/surface-mount/smbj.aspxSurface Mount TVS Diode tvs diode Web definitions A transient-voltage-suppression diode is an electronic component used to protect sensitive electronics from voltage spikes induced on connected wires. The device operates by shunting excess current when the induced voltage exceeds the avalanche breakdown potential.

The rPI cannot detect any h-Card. Did your GPIO functionality return? I guess I will order a new PI.

I asked them for a refund having ordered in March then April like a lot of other people to be told that all back orders would be cleared by August.
Still waiting in October and after asking for a refund the fucktards put my orders on hold then refused to refund me so yeah they're basically scammers as well as lying arsewipes.
Looks like ill have to initiate court action to even get my money back now. How they haven't got a scammer tag yet I'll never know.
Are they based in KS or MO? One has to choose the correct court. KS. Okay thanks

(I had oriented it correctly, HDMI port facing upwards, etc etc. It mined for a few mins as well ). Now back to v1 Mboard. I had read sometime back that people complained of red-hot smoking rPI after plugging it in on the new Mboard. Anyone else concur?

I haven't noticed that problem myself, running 7 original boards with 8 "new" boards in one rig right now.. Very stable. You got lucky and I did not get lucky ordered 5 Hboards. I got one dead and 4 other shut off about 10 minutes and get very hot. I am having trouble with one of my new v1 H-boards as well shorting out my whole rig. I don't notice anything damaged or anything smelling funny either. I've tried many ways to troubleshoot the problem. My Raspberry PI got shorted out, a diode on the backside burnt out. Just made a friendly $50 bet with a mate. Decided to do an over/under on BTC/USD price on 01/JAN/2015 00:00:00 He set the line at $180 and I snap accepted the over. Easiest $50 ever? Or no? I guess you could best one 1 BTC. Chances of your win are pretty high.

Is there any danger i I get 2 separate psu and connect each to one of the PCIE connectors?
There is a little danger of blowing the PSU, if the PSU are not synced. I did that for a few days, but it's best if the PSU are from same manufacturer and are turned on simultaneously.

Can you please post the log file of these chips? It would be helpful to mod the chainminer software. Also what voltage are the cards at? Thanks

I dont/wont measure voltages, as it requires disassembly and has the accompanied risk of breaking stuff, I dont have very steady hands, sorry. The resistances on R02F's vary between 1.67-1.62k Ohm. That's enough information for me. Very thanks

as for 3 slots per bank, i beleive its related to the 30A limit of a texas instruments chip mentioned by intron a while back. Its got 10-14 pins and there is 1 per bank. Most likely it simply cannot handle more then 3 overclocked cards or 4 cards at 25GH
I'd like report the contrary, this is my most stable bank: Can you please post the log file of these chips? It would be helpful to mod the chainminer software. Also what voltage are the cards at? Thanks

Since I filled each slot in my miner I'm having also ... problems to maintain ... hashrate of each board over 30 GH ... I'm unsure if it's because of the heat ... or the heatsinks ... that are blocking airflow, ... a PSU issue? .... some how I've some boards that work on one slot better then on an other one ... does anyone has a good approach how to get ... the best postitions ... ^^
also I'm seeking good heatsinks ... for the regulator part the arctic cooling stuff is to big ... something around 5 mm ...
In my experience it's a big problem when more than 3 slots per bank are used and to have >30GH/s per board. I think it's a software issue. Any hints from the developers would be awesome. I have even tried soldering power cables form each H-board directly to the 12V connector, but no fish.
