Sorry, guys. I've decided to cancel this auction as of now. I'm probably just as nervous about this auction as the bidders are since there is a lot of BTC involved. I think I'll just go back to tinkering with the jalapeno.

My apologies to the bidders, interested parties, and John K.

Auction cancelled. Do not bid.

Noooooooooo! just kidding.
btw where did you buy the AVR dragon from, and how much did it cost?
1562  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Chips - Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited Pick Up. on: June 23, 2013, 08:12:06 AM
Can those purchasing chips go Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited and pick them up directly?

Even if you manage to pick up the chips from TSMC, I guess you will get a huge wafer Smiley
Need someone (fujitsu?) to cut and package the chips though.

TSMC packages.

I think Bitsyncom mentioned that Fujitsu was packaging Avalons.

From your website: 0.18 um (micrometers) /180nm (nanometers) die size custom design.  Huh
Maybe you meant feature size.

Sorry, some typos here and there, will be fixed shortly. Thanks for the head-up. I clearly meant feature size.

I'm not one of the engineers but i'm in charge of creating the text contents you are reading, so you may encounter some small quirks like that, the text will be fixed properly anyways in due time.

EDIT : Fixed all instances of the typo.

Cheers

Awesome cheers Smiley
1565  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 2 out of 4 Jalapenos throwing alot more HW errors than other two on: June 23, 2013, 02:25:04 AM
Give this a try power them down totally, then let them cool right down, maybe even bag and place in the freezer for a while, then power back up watch the HW errors go away.

Or he could sell me the two lower ones and "watch the HW errors go away".

lol

can you please share what's your NRE cost for 180nm process? Just curious if an opensource asic could be crowd funded?

The power consumption depends a lot on ambient temperature. My stock PSU consumes 850W at night and 950W during the day.
Upgraded to the Seasonic X-650 Gold 750W, and day power consumption reduced to 870W. All at 350MHz.

850 W sounds like a lot for 3 hashing modules @ 350 MHz. This is at 120 V?

I am at 230 V and my default Batch #2 units with the 850 W power supply (enermax) pulls 765 W and the units I converted to a SilverStone Technology Strider Gold ST1200-G run at 735 W (92% power factor)

yes, 120V. There is a chance that my P3killawatt is off. I will verify with my FLUKE DMM.
1568  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: June 22, 2013, 11:38:41 PM
can anyone recommend replacement fans for  batch one?
I am interested as well. These look like they can reach 4000rpm max. Will buy a couple in case one fails.

do you have a buy it now?

Will you ship the dragon as well?

So how hot is too hot?

I'm running my batch 1 and batch 2 units at 350MHz now.  B1 seems to have settled on 47c for temp3, where B2 is at 52c now.  Ambient temperature here is somewhat high (28c).

I have to place my unit right at the mouth of AC vent to make sure temp3 < 50C.

I'm using Strombom firmware stable @ 11h 11m 33s 83647.44 @ 350 on slush Suggested difficulty set to 32 my temps are alot lower 46

Fans are not set @ 100% Fan1 2400 Fan2 3960 Fan3 3720

How did you change the fan setting from 100% to auto? Thanks
1575  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Joining the ASIC party, BFL Jalapeno question on: June 22, 2013, 11:45:25 AM
Hello all,

I just received a nice shipment from BFL earlier today.

Good start to the weekend:

Any clues on getting the other 3 to hit 8Gh/s? Or is this what BFL meant when they had varying chip degrees?

Cool the slow jally in your refrigerator for 10 mins and then try.
1576  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: June 22, 2013, 09:44:35 AM
power consumption of my Avalon 2 at 350MHz is 890Watts  Tongue. Room is at 76F right now.
1577  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: June 22, 2013, 06:42:32 AM
From ASIC README:

34:375
36:350
39:325
43:300
45:282 (default)
47:270
50:256

Okay so the timeout at 350MHz is 36. Updated that as well. Thanks.

Firmware with overclock binary:

http://downloads.qi-hardware.com/people/xiangfu/avalon/next-testing/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr703n-v1-squashfs-factory-20130622.bin

It is not exported to the web interface so you will have to manually edit the /etc/init.d/cgminer configuration

Thanks!

changed this -> in /etc/init.d/cgminer

how stable at 350?  Running for a week without a hard reboot stable or hard reboot every 24 hours stable?

Strombom has been running for close to a month now
