This may work as well to reprogram the ATMEL MCU. What do you guys think?

I just used a soldering station to remove it. Takes 30 sec or so.

Check the back of the jalapeņo when it's running, if you have two leds then both chips are running

there are 8 red LEDs and the center 2 are blinking.
1628  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Jalapeno received today, Chip Die jagged edge question on: June 18, 2013, 12:37:17 AM
When You had order it?
Bought it in auctions.

Prob early crappy chip with several dead engines. That said, it should prob be fine if you keep it cool and don't fuck around with it.

It's running pretty cool between 19C to 25C. But I am concerned about the exposed edges on the die.

Will take more close-ups tomorrow
1630  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Open Source FPGA Bitcoin Miner (Last Update: April 14th, 2013) on: June 18, 2013, 12:00:37 AM

Is there a porting guide for the Verilog/VHDL code or miner to another different FPGA (ie different vendor/size etc)?

Thanks.

Do you have any specific board that you want to target?

from Avalon?  who else has received this?

Yes, I received tracking information from Avalon.

How many units?
1633  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Jalapeno received today, Chip Die jagged edge question on: June 17, 2013, 11:13:07 PM
You are looking at the problems bfl encountered with bumping/packaging houses. One good chip from most recent suppliers and one older chip which is bolloxed up but works.

Quite likely, the jagged edge chip looks more like a home project. I have never seen such workmanship even in engineering samples.

Perhaps because it is of an older version, probably a prototype chip...

Just received it today.

Did you upgraded to 7 GH/s? What value did you got with a mining software?

It's 5GH/s, mining s/w reports 5.1 - 5.2 GH/s
1636  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Jalapeno received today, Chip Die jagged edge question on: June 17, 2013, 10:54:08 PM
Is it a 5Gh/s version? Maybe the 7Gh/s version has 2 larger chips?

It's a 5Gh/s version

I think it's a dummy

You are wrong! It's the real thing.

1640  Bitcoin / Hardware / BFL 5GH/s Jalapeno received today, Chip Die jagged edge question on: June 17, 2013, 10:31:12 PM
Why is one edge jagged? Will it affect longevity of the Jalapeņo?

Why does one chip look different and smaller than the other?
