Are all submodules hashing good. Does the unit crash frequently? Possible to post a cgminer API summary after lets say 1 day of continuous hashing?

Order #1077, placed february 2nd, delivered today to Italy.

It took eight days from shipment to delivery.

spiccioli

Could you post some pics ? Also did you pay any customs fee ?

koob,

I don't have pics and yes I've paid customs fee on declared value, around 203 €

spiccioli

That's quite a hefty customs duty there Sad
1704  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #2) on: May 31, 2013, 07:51:31 PM
Order 44XX for coastermonger arrived 5-28-13.  1 unit.  The order was placed on February 3rd 2013, at one of the last possible moments before the units sold out following the Walletbit fiasco.  I did initially have problems with being able to send the full amount, so this was an order that was manually added later in March.

Did not have to pay for customs, shipping, or anything extra.  All in all it was a 6 day period between the time I was notified that the order was complete and the time it arrived at my door.  It was a 115 day period from when I ordered the device to when it arrived.  Would I do it again? Absolutely.  I kind of wish I ordered more of them.

Unfortunately I did not get to open mine because I decided to sell it for the right price.  I'll let you know if I kick myself later, but I feel like I made a good decision and left the device in the hands of someone who knew much more about mining than me.

What is the approx going price these days?
1705  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Pure reference 7970's $335 on: May 31, 2013, 12:29:30 PM
Age shouldn't really matter; all reference cards are pretty old at this point. Brand new "reference" cards are knockoffs with a different color PCB and poor quality and power control. I bought 4 of these reference knockoffs from newegg a month ago, and 3 of them have degraded to the point of instant crash in any 3D game and are currently in RMA. So long as it is game stable and pure reference as described in the OP, I want it. I will pay $335 per card shipped (that means zero for shipping Tongue)

I -might- budge on my price if you can convince me. What do you have you can sell to me?
Not sure if this is a reference card (it looks like one), but pretty close to your price point:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00A220HD6/ref=sr_1_78_olp?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1369991779&sr=1-78&keywords=7970&condition=used

two decidedly non-reference 7970s:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150665

if you don't have to pay sales tax at newegg and you do the MIR's and sell the games, both under $335 or less

wait til tomorrow though,

myNote: XFX Double D's are the worst mining cards ever. Piss poor heatsink, and fans that need to be extracted with vice grips and lubed every 3 months. I am sure OP is gonna look the other way Smiley
1706  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Open Source FPGA Bitcoin Miner (Last Update: April 14th, 2013) on: May 31, 2013, 12:15:34 PM
I have a question regarding fpga mining on the 7K325T FPGA. Is there a project / bitstream which can mine at or greater than 1GH/s on this FPGA?

I was able to achieve 1Gh/s (5 cores @ 200mhz w/ +0.1 timing) but not using fpgaminer's code and the code wasn't complete (didnt actually hash, comm wasn't migrated), but yes it is possible. I was able to achieve 450Mh/s on the A7 200.

It should be possible to get 1.2Gh/s out of the K7 and probably around 600 with the A7 (If you give it a little bit of help on the fit.)

Can you please point me to the hashing code that you used? I want to program my 7K325  on KC705 board with that code and check its performance. Thanks

Now,

let's see, how difficult can it be to desolder F1 if someone has never used a solder in his whole life?  Huh

If I try such operation, do I really risk to destroy the control board?

Is there something I (we) really need to know before starting to desolder F1?

spiccioli

my tips.

a) Use a weller soldering station or equivalent. Set temp to 75% of max range or more.

b) use rosin cored solder on both sides of the fuse and alternate every 0.5 seconds and the component will slip off. Flux / rosin is must or else solder may spill to other components and cause a bridge + frustrations.

c) practice on a dead video card / modem / etc

Hi goxed,

thanks a lot, I've just found a pc shop which does little repairs which will desolder it for me Smiley

spiccioli

If I were you I will ask them to de-solder a test  SMT component from an unused hardware first before letting them work on Avalon controller.
1708  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: May 31, 2013, 09:46:37 AM
The description that the TP-LINK is "drawing too much power" is actually incorrect.

The USB hub chip does not overheat because the TP-LINK draws too much power. The TP-LINK is powered via a 5V line that does not even come from the USB hub chip.

Instead, the hub chip overheats because of a flaw in the control unit v1.5 design which I found while poring over the schematics: they accidentally feed 5V to one of the pins of the chip instead of 3.3V. This overvoltage is what causes the chip to overheat. I pinged Yifu who confirmed it, and I filed a bug quoting his response: https://github.com/BitSyncom/avalon-ref/issues/5

Removing the fuse F1 merely cuts voltage to this pin. It leaves the USB type B port (which powers the TP-LINK) completely unaffected.

Thanks +1. This needs to be rectified ASAP. Will report after fixing the pin today.

if those are GX 750 psu's ... they are pretty sucky, would recommend switching them out w/ something more reliable ...
enermax GX 750 PSU. Any references that claim that these are not that great?

a) Since I use Linux for GPU miners all my 79XX are on 700MHz, 0.95V, in other words they had a pretty easy life, and I had a pretty easy life wrt stability, heat removal and power management.

b) I have 3 reference cards that will need to be retired, but I think the quoted price is on the lower side, when I can ebay them for 1) bit more 2) will be paid before shipping

AV2 @ 256MHz, 655Watts.

goxed,

did you measure this on 120V?

spiccioli
yes, 120V.

I have my DHL tracking stuck at "Shipping Information Received" for the past 2 days. Did you see the same on yours?

thanks

Waited approx 2.5 days.

1720  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Pure reference 7970's $335 on: May 30, 2013, 01:05:52 AM
I'm in the process of slowly replacing all my 5000 series cards with 7970's and am looking to replace them with pure reference cards. I have had great luck with them. I don't want any non-reference as out of the 4 I have, 2 have died and the other 2 don't even clock that well while undervolting at 1.05v, approximately 100-150MHz slower. Most of these reference cards are also old though and likely abused, so my offer stands at $335 shipped per card. Brand matters little (MSI, Sapphire, Asus, Gigabyte, whatever), though having the original reference style heatsink and fan is highly prefered. I know for a fact that the triple fan Gigabytes are NOT reference. They don't have voltage control either, which is a MUST.

You can know your card is a pure reference and not a knockoff by having "109-C38637-00" down by the PCI-E connector as well as having the AMD logo above it, but this is usually mostly covered by the heatsink.

If I don't have reason to trust you (account age too new, no trades, etc), I will require escrow or payment after receiving item depending on payment method, especially if there are no pictures.
Payable in paypal, dwolla (takes 2-3 days to load money on here as I don't currently have money in it), chase quickpay if you hold a chase account, amex serve, and moneypak. I can also reluctantly pay with bitcoins if it is absolutely necessary.

Fresh thread because of thread crappers. If your post is not constructive, I will delete it.

Questions

a) What age of cards are you looking at? New, 6mo, 1yr+, etc. Is your price same or do you scale with age?

b) How much shipping will you pay?
