go ahead drink one for me as well ..... i will start this weekend

There. Have a bakers-dozen of merits... because... goddamn this vodka is kicking my head...

WOOO... Now where is that bones guy...

EDIT:

Since most of the volume is leveraged on Bitmex...

Dude... I had to go back almost 24 hours to find you...

EDIT2:

I just emptied my bladder !!!

@Theymos... dude... whenever other people merit me, sometimes I feel A MORAL OBLIGATION to merit them back at least two merits because I'm a source, and that shit regenerates with time, yo... Maybe make it so it's not possible for non-merit sources to merit merit-sources ?

Fuck... I need another drink...

I am a merit source also, so you don't need to fell obligated to merit me back.  Wink Also, some merit sources want to remain anonymous, so not allowing non-merit sources to merit merit sources would effectively dox people. Thanks for the merit, though. I'm sure that I will get around to paying it forward, eventually. However, I am sitting on top of a shitload of smerit, ATM.

Are derivatives running the price now?  Is Bitmex the new Bitfinex?  26% of the volume today on Bitmex.

Since most of the volume is leveraged on Bitmex, I wouldn't give much credence to that figure. To get a good idea of how much value is really being risked, I would divide that figure by 10. And I am being generous since people have the option to use up to 100x leverage. However, I do wonder what is going on with Bitforex. I'm not familiar with that exchange at all, and it states that it is a spot market.

I think the merit system is not a good system there has to be something different that would be better, I've made plenty of good posts and didn't get any merit for them (the only merit I got was bc I was already a member here and got the airdrop when it first came out) but it is REALLY HARD to get merit TOO HARD you need to have a better system implemented I don't like this merit system at all.

With the new rule change, more merit sources were added and many of the established merit sources have more merits to hand out. It should get a little easier. I looked at your post history, and decided that I will throw you a bone.  Cool
1546  Other / Meta / Re: Enhanced newbie restrictions & requirements on: September 19, 2018, 12:12:29 AM

I am not sure if I understood what you are implying regarding me. I needed to check what is to "punch a timecard". No luck, can you elaborate please? Many thanks.

Old way employers used to keep track of your time.

1547  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: does the owner of a full node earn something on: September 18, 2018, 11:55:29 PM
You may also make money running a full node if you use it to run a mining pool. This probably won't work with BTC, since you would have to attract quite a few people to make it profitable, and many miners won't go to a pool with low hash rate. However, you could start running a pool that mines other alts.
1548  Other / Meta / Re: Enhanced newbie restrictions & requirements on: September 18, 2018, 04:00:14 AM
I am now a source the best way for me to be neutral is to look at a list of names of jr to newbie and read posts.

I now have a list and have decided to pass on the first 2 people on the list.

I do have a concern about people selling merits.  0.0010 is cheaper then 0.0020  for copper purchase.  I am not selling merits I am reading posts on the list I have been given.

But My concern would be other sources will sell that 1 merit  for 0.0010 btc.

They'd be risking red trust if they do that. More likely some old/hacked accounts could engage in such sales.

How would that be much of a deterrent? Wouldn't that actually be good advertising for someone's merit selling business? I always thought the punishment for selling merit as a merit source would be to get stripped of the privilege and perhaps a ban on the account.
Edit: Now that I think about it though, I guess someone would have to be really bad at covering their tracks in order to have a sufficient case for the staff to implement such measures.  Undecided
1549  Other / Meta / Re: Enhanced newbie restrictions & requirements on: September 18, 2018, 03:45:48 AM
so many bounty hunters need jr member rank, and is difficult to have a metrit i have 140 activity but got not metrit.today i've downgrade become a newbie and i very sad.i think better if need 100-200 activity to become jr.member even 5p,i can post 1 that meaning i only can work 20 bounty for a day before i can made 100.what can i do now give up a dream become a bounty hunter and stay at home and do a daily homework..so hurt felling

I looked at your post history, and except for this post, it seems to only contain reports of your social media activity for bounty campaigns or signing up for bounty campaigns. You will never get a merit that way. All you need to do is get 1 merit. Your facebook profile indicates that you are from Indonesia. Perhaps this thread can help you get your 1 merit. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3315373.100 I'm not sure though, since I do not read or write Indochinese at all. There may be other threads in the Indochinese local board that can help you too.

You mean this one ?
https://joerg-molt.de/news/the-truth-about-bch-scams-bch-transaction-costs-utxo/

What can I say... It is very popular article, written back in January 6th 2018.
People like it.

Original article is much longer then it was posted here....
but I can post it in full version if you want...no problem at all.

Please don't. Although the guy is clearly pro BTC, he also claims to be "co-founder of BitCoin" https://satoshi-school.com/en/our-vision/ Anything that he writes should be taken with a grain of salt.
1551  Other / Meta / Re: The new policy is not working on: September 17, 2018, 04:37:39 PM

I dare not say how high the quality of my post is, but I think that compared to sue1710, my post is at least a serious discussion with others, but I have no one merit (just our local moderator gave me 1), this is hard to convince me, no offense, I think most of the newbies who are trying to improve the quality of the article in order to get Merit will think so.

In response to the new policy, theymos has also increased the number of merit sources and also increased the amount of smerits at least some of the merit sources can give. They should be a little easier to get now.

PPS:  Here are the instructions that I was given by theymos this morning. I thought that I was doing my delegated duty. Now I get accused of doing something bad. Whatever.
The problem is that you gave merit to at least 2 users (that I've seen) which obviously don't even deserve to be in this forum. I'd be more careful before handling merits to those spammers. All they want right now is the 1 precious merit required to keep doing their shitbounties and spam the forum.
I will try to be more selective. However, I am not getting paid for this service of doling out merits. I really don't think it should be expected of me to sift through a person's whole post history to hand out 1 measly merit. I either like the post that I am currently reading or I don't
1552  Other / Meta / Re: The new policy is not working on: September 17, 2018, 04:17:03 PM
I also saw this thread just now. All three accounts got the sMerit sent by bones261, but their post I think is not worth it, especially sue1710, all the posting records are composed of some links.

bones261: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=452769

sue1710: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1770294;sa=showPosts

On the first day of the new rule, such an obvious abuse of merits occurred. Should DT members take a look here?

Hey look, I wake up this morning and received a whole bunch of additional smerits to dole out. So, I got a little generous on that thread. When I was used to only getting 50 to dole out a month and now I have 250, I'm encouraged to be a little less stingy. Sorry, that I didn't take the time to review each and every person's post history before I decide to give out the merit.

PS: I will ignore any PMs sent to me from newbie accounts begging for their one smerit. I really don't have enough time in the day to be the Mother Teresa of Merit granters.

PPS:  Here are the instructions that I was given by theymos this morning. I thought that I was doing my delegated duty. Now I get accused of doing something bad. Whatever.

You are now a merit source, or if you were already a merit source, your monthly source merit was increased.

I recommend:
 - If a newbie posts something that could be even called good, then give them 1 merit. It doesn't need to be a great post.
 - It's best to use all of your source merit. If you don't naturally do so, try giving people more merit per post on average. If you don't send your source merit, then nobody gets it, but if you do send it, then the recipient can pass half of it on.

Thanks!

Bored bored bored bored bored.

yup

im getting to the point of only checking the price every few days. soon it will be weeks between checks.

wake me up out of my stupor if anything interesting happens

ZZZzzzzzzz...

Thank you for nurturing the much needed capitulation.
Well gentlemen, let's get this done quickly.

Meh, the next halving won't come until mid 2020. This might linger on until late 2019.
1554  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 16, 2018, 01:44:50 PM
No pain, no gain.
This doesn't feel painful what's painful is the wife making me sell for the down payment on a home and soon. I'm going to lose out big.

Ouch. Hope the mortgage company doesn't give you too much flack on exactly how you came up with the money for the down payment. Also, I'm sure the government is going to require their pound of flesh.
1555  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 16, 2018, 12:10:34 AM
We should hope that BCH has a long life. The big blockers need their own chain that they can squabble about block size and other things. Let them have their hash wars on their own chain(s).

...and on their own threads.  Just sayin'.

We all know that this particular thread doesn't remain on topic. It's part of the charm.
1556  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 15, 2018, 04:25:44 AM
I was expecting a bottom of $5700.  Instead we got $6100 and a bounce.  And volume should be dropping but seems to be slightly rising on average.   We should rally in October - December but maybe we are early.  Bullish.

Do you think the impending news on the 30th of September will dampen any October rally, if it turns out rejected or delayed? Or do you think that this is already priced in?
1557  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 14, 2018, 10:03:56 PM
Well, if Jihan and friends have their way, BCH will never have the most accumulated SHA256 work. They are hinting around that they want to decrease the block times to 1 minute and perhaps implement POS.
He's got plenty of hashpower on hand. It's only natural he'd be better off allocating as large a fraction as possible to the more valuable coin. Also, POS can be a very good thing. For those that hold the absolute majority of tokens, at least.

Of course POS would be a good thing for Jihan and his ~1,000,0000 BCH.  Cheesy However, POS on a limited supply coin is always less secure than a POW coin. All an entity needs to do is accumulate 51% of the coins and be in a permanent attack position. No amount of competition will ever be able to unseat them.
1558  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 14, 2018, 09:24:06 PM

If he has claimed that BCH is BTC, then that is news to me. Proof?

Are you being honest?  Roger has been claiming BCH is (the real) Bitcoin for about a year now.

https://twitter.com/rogerkver/status/987700520809783296?lang=en

That is not what I wrote. Claiming that BCH is bitcoin is not the same as claiming BCH is BTC.

BTC is currently Bitcoin, aye. As it is the chain built atop the Satoshi genesis block that has the most accumulated SHA256 proof of work.

It may not always be such.

As an aside, anyone that mistakes BCH for BTC had obviously not even started to do the necessary due diligence for trading in this market. I have no sympathy for anyone incurring losses on this basis.

If BCH goes POS, it will never be bitcoin, sorry. Better hope that Jihan's ass gets kicked in come November.

I can’t be bothered arguing with Jbear about bcash lol.  It’s much too nice a day for that.

Meh, it's the middle of September. It should not be 90 F at this time of year.  Angry I used to love September weather.  Not anymore. Or maybe I am remembering it all wrong. Huh

Yes, all one needs to do is go to his twitter feed. Here is a recent tweet of his. https://twitter.com/rogerkver/status/1039175734726680582 Pretty convincing evidence for me that when he is referring to Bitcoin, he means BCH and when he is referring to BTC, he calls it Bitcoin core.

And we already know his feeling on when people call BCH  bcash....
