1261  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: August 04, 2022, 09:44:02 PM
Still a long discussion if we will talk about who win on that previous 2 fights. I mean the outcome favor Canelo on their second match, but in the eyes of GGG's fans; they have their own assessment and that's the reason why they will support GGG on this upcoming trilogy. If GGG will win, then a possible to have another fight for GGG either with Canelo again or he will be challenged by another top rank fighter in this division, the fate will be concluded right after the fight.

It was a controversial fight that's why this trilogy is necessary, if GGG will win, then the world will be celebrating. LOL

Anyway, make sure you put your bet on this fight, if you are rooting for GGG, you should take the high odds as it's very attractive.
Lastly, as a fan we are biased, so we will always say that our favorite fighter wins the previous fights.

But if Canelo wins, then what will happen? The world will have a mourning? The world is celebrating because those two fight again. Since their second fight a lot has changed. I would say that both gained new experience and both a so much experienced, that that extra age that GGG had is not a real fight changer. Both are so great and identically skilled, that judges once again will those who will decide who won.

We will just hope that this time there will be no help from the judges that will benefit either one of the two camps, we wanted a clean fair fight this time because this trilogy will be an indication of who really wins and probably be their last fight together. Personally, I'm rooting for both of them as they are both my favorite, I won't let this fight slide and as for the bets, I'll look into it soon because it's still too early for now.
1262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 04, 2022, 09:22:20 PM
Gotcha, yeah he has college level skills but against top college talent he shrieked a little.  I'm on the side that chet will be a bust for the NBA but the future will be very telling.  Will wait until I see him in a few games before I completely pass judgement.
Well, I believe I expressed myself badly in my last comment. But the point of this comparison is that if Holmgren continues with this amazing performance he had in the NCAA and gets an extremely high raise, if that actually happens, Holmgren could even be compared to Durant.

But it is clear, the levels of NBA players are very high compared to NCAA players, I have no doubt that in the beginning he will have a little difficulty adapting.

By the way, in the dimensions of the NBA court is much larger than the NCAA?

The court itself is the same for college and nba, the biggest difference though being the 3 point line in college is closer to the hoop than in the NBA.  But honestly it's not even that he can shoot, it will be him playing against men and not boys like he was in college.  Giannis will abuse chet, AD will slaughter him etc.  They are going to match him up against a center or power forward at best.  It's his defense that will keep him on the bench.

It is expected that Chet will have some struggles at first while adapting to the plays in the NBA because it's a lot different compared to the NCAA, the court is somehow the same but the 3-point line had some differences but the largest difference is that the NBA players are not like the players of NCAA. Chet will adapt just like fine, he just have to endure the likes of Giannis, AD or anyone in the center to pick up some experience along the way.
1263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul v Hasim Rahman Jr / Amanda Serrano V Brenda Carabaja co-main event Aug on: August 04, 2022, 08:56:52 PM
Honestly, there should be clauses put into the contract that if you miss weight, then you have to pay an amount agreed prior to the fight if it means you have to pull out. UFC basically does it in a way where the fighter gives up a rather large portion of their purse, and that at the very least discourages missing weight.

Basically, Jake had two fights lined up, which both were cancelled because of something he can't control. That's not on him, and I'm not sure why some of the media is bashing on Jake. He's done what he has been asked to do, and that's match up with two professional boxers, or real boxers.

I agree, they should write that in their contract so that a fighter has some reasons to go after in case the other opponent cannot make the said weight or had any issues that could make the fight gets cancelled because of it.

I pity Jake because he carried most of the things just to get the fight to sell out while Rahman is relaxed and just focus in his trainings but the unexpected happened because Rahman cannot make it, this will Jake's ticket to get be a legit pro-boxer but now it's fallen into pieces because the fight is already cancelled.
1264  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you had the chance to meet Satoshi Nakamoto what would you ask? on: August 03, 2022, 09:26:31 PM
If I had a chance to meet him I would ask him, what is his work and what is inspiration on creating bitcoin technology. Of course I want an answer that is natural, and coming from him.

No one could explain here or could answer that question cause Satoshi is literally a ghost and mysterious guy.  Just wanna hear his answer on his own words.
For me, instead of giving him some questions, I think it’s better to be thankful for him as he became a good samaritan for us as his invention made big changes in our lives. Satoshi should be given more appreciation in his own craft, and letting him know how lucky we are to have known bitcoin, leaves a good feeling on his part.
1265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul v Hasim Rahman Jr / Amanda Serrano V Brenda Carabaja co-main event Aug on: August 03, 2022, 08:40:38 PM
@TopTort777. However, Jake might only repeat the problem because another fight versus Woodley will not sell enough tickets and payperviews to pay for the expenses of the event. Also, when this event was announced, the original opponent was supposed to be Tommy Fury. That was the fight that everyone wanted to see because the opponent was the brother of Tyson Fury.

If it is not Woodley, then there are a queue of formed UFC fighters that wants to get a juicy check from a boxing match. Just find a retired UFC guy who was a champion (does not matter if he hasnt defended his title and immediately lost it), announced it from every speaker and here are your huge PPV sales. This formula always work.

If Jake has big balls and a lot of money, he could offer Francis Ngannou to have a fight. It will be huge. And Francis always talks that UFC pays him to little.
He could offer Ngannou, yes, but I think Jake won't be that dumb to scathe his flawless record because Ngannou could still be a dangerous opponent even if it is a ring.

But this cancellation might also be the chance to pave a way for Paul Jake to fight Anderson Silva after the latter calls out Jake last May, if that will happen then for sure there will be a lot of fans and people who would want to watch that fight.
1266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 03, 2022, 08:11:24 PM

Its not only with Kerr but the whole coaching staff or shall we say the whole organization because they really help the careers of each warriors player goes to their team. Plus their scouts which really can spot a high quality player coming off from unexpected picks. But for talking about being a coach of the year well its no doubt that Kerr totally deserve this since he won multiple championships on this team.

I can not argue that Steve Kerr really deserves something like that and I think the Golden State Management deserves even more praises, they surely did something outstanding like this and pretty much it is a bigger feat, and even Bob Myers the one that Steve Kerr keep on saying the one that completed this team, and decides who's to go and who has a big potential as a player, that is Bob Myers that has been keeping the team intact, and if Draymond Green would eventually leave the team, then I think Bob Myers has the one to really say something about it,

There is a reason why the Warriors will not give Draymond Green that 4-year max contract he wants because next summer the Warriors management will face the same situation and have to make another difficult decision where the contracts of Poole, Wiggins, and Thompson will be needed to have an extension. The team honestly cannot afford to give max contracts to all of their main line-up and there will be a day that they needed to vacate their older players, but yes, that's up to Bob Myers as he knew what to do in these kind of situations.
1267  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you look down on Bushy or undeveloped areas? on: August 02, 2022, 10:20:12 PM
Have you ever or come across friends/ family members feel regretting of not buying land property in an undeveloped area that later turned  a city after some years, houses/land property becomes very expensive.  Time without numbers of have always heard many people how they gave histories about some areas when it was coming up land was sold for a very little amount of money,  then they had opportunity to get land for a penny but not interested of it because it was bushy and not developed.

After some years the place gets developed  by people who endured and quickly moved in no matter how it was bushy and undevelope. Most of the people I meet making complain like this never had opportunity again to afford a piece of small land again because of much responsibility of life.

It seems very painful because of the amount of money spent for renting a house annually.  Do you think buying your first landed property in a bushy area is a good investment for the future.
Everything that seem so less of value and importance at first will eventually change in the future especially with land properties that yields price appreciation in the next preceding years. So it’s not a bad idea to spend your money and invest into underdeveloped and bushy areas since they are expected to increase their price value once the area has been developed and become commercialized.
1268  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How diversified are you with your investment, crypto aside? on: August 02, 2022, 09:49:52 PM
- traditional markets have less fluctuation but are risky anyway, so may as well stick to BTC and ETH no?
There are far less risky traditional market assets, like index funds.

- can't think of any other investment type that yields more than 10% py. Enough to cover inflation.
A business. Start and grow a business yourself(or purchase one), then hire managers so the business be somewhat "passive"; without frequently needing your presence for the business to run.
You can franchise a popular fastfood chain for another investment, I’m sure that will gain a good income since the name of your business is already established. So even if you are working on your crypto investment, you can still yield a good amount of income without your presence often seen in the store.
1269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Satoshi is not dead, what is he doing? on: August 02, 2022, 08:39:30 PM
After reading so many topics that discuss who satoshi could be and why he would leave bitcoin from one day to another it made me think: What is he doing these days? It is really unlikely that he never ever came back to the forum again, just to read and look at the progress. Also it seems likely that he had at least one alt account that may even be sill active.
If Satoshi is still alive right now, probably he’s very proud of his own investment that is giving a lot of opportunities to create profits for everyone. He must be peacefully living with his grandkids these days or he must be somewhere in a luxury place chilling with his loved ones. Or maybe, he is also busy managing his own business because we know he has a brilliant mind from the start.
1270  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC Ever Reach $100k? on: August 01, 2022, 11:43:17 PM
Arguably, the most significant driver of Bitcoin value is its future price speculation. There have been several speculations of BTC price by top crypto influencers, while some have come to pass but it appears that the 100k price milestone appears elusive.

The $60k prediction came to pass but BTC has since lost more than 65% of its ATH price.

Do you think that BTC will ever rise to and above 100k in the near future? Wil it be before or after the next Bitcoin halving or this price would never come?

What's your opinion?
I know the price will be possible in the next couple of months. But for that to happen, the market should recover first and let bitcoin take another price leap and then skyrocket. That way, if there will be no negative global economic issues along the way, bitcoin will keep on surging consistently. And one day, we will just be surprise that bitcoin has already reached another price achievement, it could be even higher than $100k I think.

Haven't you had a similar topic in this forum section recently?  Cheesy
This forum was the first online place to discuss Bitcoin, 13 years ago, started by Satoshi, the creator of Bitcoin.
However, a lot of time has passed and today there are many other legitimate places on the Internet to discuss crypto and this forum is no longer an exclusive place for crypto discussions.
After all, today's young people use other ways of online communication much more, such as Telegram groups, social networks etc.
However, regardless of a lot of channels that would be a source of information for crypto, I would say this forum will always be the most legit and reliable source of crypto information. And for newbies, this is not just a forum where you start to learn, but more on a home for everyone here that aims to see growth and development in terms of crypto knowledge and experiences.
1272  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Btc not moving but we need every day some moves where the moves? on: July 31, 2022, 10:45:24 PM
Mate I don't even know how many threads you've already created on how bitcoin isn't moving. BTC's literally down 4.4% in 24 hours, and up 4.7% in a week. If you really want more volatility, go trade low-volume shitcoins.
Not only bitcoin but the rest of established altcoins are also experiencing low prices. Trading with bitcoin would not be so profitable these days as the market is still in bleed. If you can’t be patient enough and would be obsessed to trade to gain profits, then yes, go on trade with low volume shitcoins, and let’s see if you’ll be satisfied with the results.
1273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will be running in your mind if Bitcoin reaches $1000 again on: July 31, 2022, 09:40:38 PM
Bitcoin has gained so much popularity and recognition in the past few years that it rose from nominal prices to almost $69000 in 2020. It however gained hundreds of billions of dollars in capitalization over the years. The situation has changed with both appraisals/approvals and backlashes on the cryptos by some countries, especially government officials.

Inflation is another problem, and they have successfully caused Bitcoin to remain at lower levels compared to its all-time peak of almost $69000. Its market capitalization today is a little above $454 billion, which is still a good value. However, in events that more backlashes and higher inflation negatively affect the crypto some more and finds itself at about $1000. What would be your reaction? Will you turn your back on Bitcoin or has your investment just begun on it?

As for me, my investment has just begun. I have learnt from my past mistake.
You would not want to invest in the first place if you see red flags in the start. However, this is possible with most of the altcoins but when it comes to bitcoin, regardless of how low its value will fall, it will always set to recover after every downtrend. Unless if bitcoin meets a serious problem that you think it will hardly to recover, then you might be in doubt investing with that.
1274  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: July 29, 2022, 04:35:09 PM
@ 4.10 that's going to attract more gamblers and fans to bring out decent amount of money to bet for GGG, a lot of people still believe that even GGG is no longer on his prime,

That was good odds. GGG having @4.10 is something unusual even though he is up again the prime Canelo Alvarez. I hope for more increased odds while the fight is approaching. Still, a long way to go and there should be odds adjustment at both.

But in any case, taking @4.10 odds should be considered picking now.

Aside from that, others maybe will try to support GGG for the last time just in case he will retire if he loses to Canelo in this fight.

Golovkin has so far given no hint of retirement. He is training so hard, and despite his age he looks extremely fit (when compared to other athletes of this age). Even if he loses against Canelo, he may chose to continue for another 2-3 years IMO. At this point, I don't see any reason for him to retire. If somehow he manages an upset win against Canelo, then the question of retirement won't even arise. BTW, what was the age when Mayweather announced his retirement? If I am not wrong, he was 42 when he retired.
There's no right or wrong about that speculation because yes Golovkin hasn't given us even a bit of hint on when would he plan to retire or if this would be his last fight. And I agree that if Golovkin will defeat Canelo this time, his retirement plan will be postponed and that's obvious, but my speculation is that if he'll be defeated in this trilogy then I think that this will be his last fight.

Quote
BTW, what was the age when Mayweather announced his retirement? If I am not wrong, he was 42 when he retired.
Mayweather was 40 at the time of his retirement, he announced it after he fought McGregor in the ring which gave him a record of 50-0.
1275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] Should Gambling be Banned? on: July 29, 2022, 12:50:57 PM
Snip

In the country where i come from, to be eligible to gamble, one has to be of a certain age of reasoning and taking full responsibility of ones action (18yrs), as gambling involves a lot of risk, patience and skill, which to me i see it as a double edge sword which could make an individual millionare in few minutes and likewise turning millionaire bankrupt in the same few minutes when game doesn't go as planned. And it is a fact that for every game of gamble, the chances of losing is always higher than that of winning, which is why if you could actually win, the reward is always huge. So for me, gambling has done more good same way it has done more bad too, but just that people just have to be willing to take full responsibility of whatever actions that comes while gambling

Yeah, I think that's a reasonable policy.

Gambling should only be available to adults, like alcohol for example.

You can have a good time with gambling and not ruin your life, in the same way that you can enjoy a few beers without becoming an alcoholic.

But you can easily end up in financial ruin by gambling, so you need to be an adult to make responsible choices.

I think it would be silly to ban gambling because people that want to gamble would still do it anyway, but everyone involved would be worse off. Even the government, who wouldn't be able to get all the gambling taxes.

That's right! Children shouldn't be exposed to this kind of environment either because there is a big chance that they'll pick the wrong choices while they are growing up and think that alcohol and gambling are okay. The risk is quite big enough to take that chance, it's fine to teach them while they are young about the things they should do and should not while not exposing them to the said environment until they are older enough to weigh things.
1276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 29, 2022, 12:17:26 PM
The Golden State Warriors have shown some interest in picking up Carmelo Anthony for next season. I’m not sure how well he would fit in, but I’m sure he could do some damage off the bench. I’m thinking it would probably be his last chance to win a championship, so it wouldn’t be a bad option for him. I’d wait to see if Kyrie gets traded to the Lakers and see if I could run that back before anything else though.
Not really bad if the GSW will pick him. Last season IIRC it was him that has been taken almost at the last minute since no team would like to have him but good thing he's saved. I guess I like him to be there because of the thought that he's gonna take the ring with him before his retirement.
Maybe all of us would agree with that matter and the rest, arguable about the whatnots of him being in the dub nation.
Carmelo is not as demanding as he was before, he already play the rule that is given to him and I'm pretty sure the Warriors will be able to utilize him because he is a superstar that ha past his prime and not only that, it will also give Melo an advantage because he might won his first championship with the Warriors.
Well, he is passed with his prime now and that's why he's not in the position to demand anymore, or else with his demands, he'll experience again the hardship of being on board.
While the Warriors are still on their greatness, the potential is there that they get a back-to-back championship and Melo could be part of it if they get him this season. Well, for sure, too many fans will be happy for him.
I agree, it's still a win-win situation for the Warriors if they get Carmelo because he ain't going to be a burden in the team because he can produce his own scores, and having him on the bench will be the best thing to do. Warriors are still at their finest and their strength will become greater with Carmelo as an additional asset. I really hope they'll get him because the man deserves to get a ring before he retires.
1277  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Teofimo Lopez vs Pedro Campa - Aug 13 on: July 28, 2022, 09:49:16 PM

Right, this is going to be a concern if Lopez loses this fight. He can't go back to 135 lbs anymore but then again losing at his first fight in the 140 lbs with a name like Campa doesn't go well with his name. So for me this is like a must-win for Teo and his father. Otherwise, they can't brag anymore and that Josh Taylor fight is not going to happen in the future as he can't even beat a non contender fighter. What more with hard hitters like Zepeda and Ramirez.

Big names that possibly he will be meeting once he accomplished this upcoming fight against Campa, it's a must win indeed since he already move up and now trying to create his statue from this division, he need to beat Campa in an interesting way to hype his name and find another interesting fight to bring more money from this new division that he's now involve.

Let see if how he will manage to beat Campa, and what is the new strategy that he may show to gather interest from his fans and followers.

As said in the users above, there's got to be a reason why they choose Pedro Campa as Teo's first opponent in this division and I'm sure that one of those reasons is to gather the hype again to surround Teo's name because his name was pretty much dried up when he got his first loss against Kambosos.
But yes, whatever it is, this is a must-win fight because losing against the likes of Campa won't get him anywhere, and pretty much sure he won't get big fights with the big names to produce big figures. A decision result will be good enough but a stoppage or KO will be much better as a start in this new division.
1278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: July 28, 2022, 09:29:04 PM
It pains me to bump this thread again...  It really does...  I read an article today though that says McGregor and Mayweather are currently in talks to do a repeat of their last fight.  Supposedly they're arguing now over what the rules would be.  Dana White recently said that he wouldn't sign off that fight, but money talks and I'm sure he says that every time he would have to go into a negotiation like that.  It sounds like a fight is making progress though, which is confusing because McGregor said that his return would be in the octagon not the square.
As usual, these fellas need to set up something just to fill their pockets once again on simply showing off some jabs and running and viola... Easy millions.

Just snipping out something from this article.
Mayweather has reportedly offered McGregor $157.9million (£131.5m) for the rematch and is said to be willing to put his unbeaten professional record on the line.

https://www.sportbible.com/boxing/conor-mcgregor-floyd-mayweather-rematch-20220726

For Dana, when the money involved is something that cant really be ignored then i wont really be surprised if he would be signing up.

Just the numbers though, I mean their sources tell the exact figures?

In any case though, we all know that boxing or combat sports at least is a billion dollar business. These people are going to see huge amount of money. So I wouldn't be surprised to see the rematch. As you have said, millions specially for Conor. I mean he is living a lavish lifestyle and somewhat this super athletes needed more to continue with their life situation for them and their families. Even Manny has a fight with some South Korean youtuber.

It's not totally the case why they are still taking up exhibition fights because I'm certain that they can still afford the luxury they have now that even their grandkids won't have a problem with the finances because they have some business that generates a decent to huge cash flows into their pockets and some are investments that will make their pockets big even though they aren't the one working for it.
For me, the reason why they are taking the fight is that this is their passion and it's their way to keep themselves in the loop, also the most obvious reason is making fights will be the easiest way to get huge money considering that they will get millions from it while taking advantage of their status.

Will it be the same as a sober guy or the one who stopped smoking?
Because gambling will always be there, unlike for someone who stopped smoking cigarettes, after a year or 2 they don't like the smell of that smoke anymore, it makes them puke. I know from experience.
But gambling is different, when you watch sports it can trigger the desire to bet for your favorite team and most pay-per-view now shows advertisements for gambling like Draft Kings in NBA. Then, even the commentators are talking about how much the odds are for over and under total score.

I think they are a bit similar.

As long as you're exposed to the thing, there will probably be some kind of pull to do it.

For example, if the ex alcoholic goes to a bar, then he will probably have a beer.

The same with the gambler, if he watches a match, then he will probably will end up gambling on it.

I feel like removing yourself from the situation is probably the best way to not do anything addictive in the first place.

Why would a former alcoholic person would go to a bar if he's trying to get rid of his alcohol problems, that same person will of course be exposed again and get himself back to zero after all that hard work he or she put into just to hold his/desires. The situation is not the same with an addicted gambler because every move you make even if it's just watching sports, you will be tempt because of the advertisement about the betting sites and its odds.
1280  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: July 28, 2022, 01:24:21 PM

Yeah, as what we say, numbers don't lie, and GGG punch output was sure enough to put him on the W column against Canelo, but the judges thinks otherwise. And most of the boxing fans also see GGG winning the first.

And that was critical as well, tainted meat and PeD's accusation on Canelo which he clearly dismisses and the organization sided on him (maybe bias again???). Enough for the fans to really trigger something that they want GGG to win in this fight.

Fans will always aim to see GGG taking down Canelo. They will be more on the side that GGG is really a good competitor to Canelo.

We will only know if they are right or it's still Canelo will win and will put a dot on this matter,
The good catch here, if GGG wins, it's possible to have another money fight for both fighters
with how eager the fans promoters will use that great advantage to make more money from these
two warriors.

That would be big news if that will happen, GGG is not expected to win by many because Canelo won the last fight and therefore GGG is now a heavy underdog, maybe because of his age too, that's another factor. GGG will win, his career is not over as for sure he will always be willing to give Canelo another fight and they will both big money from that fight.
