781  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 05, 2023, 04:50:27 PM
Ja Morant, on the verge of making his deal official with Powerade and launching a major PR blitz is on Instagram live posing with guns like he’s some sort of street thug. I’m starting to get the feeling that this Ja Morant story is going to end badly. He’s too small and too sheltered to be acting like this. I worry he’s going to run into real trouble with this act.

Bleacher Report is now saying that the Grizzlies have suspended Ja Morant for the next two games over what happened on his Instagram Live. I guess he was at a night club when he was displaying his gun, which I don’t believe was legal. It will be interesting to see if he’s going to get some consequences from Powerade as a result of this.

Edit: Looks like his IG and Twitter accounts are now both suspended.

And he won't be playing in the next two games,

Quote
Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant will not play in at least the next two games after his Instagram Live video, in which he displayed what appeared to be a gun while at a nightclub early Saturday morning, prompted an investigation from the NBA.

The Grizzlies announced Saturday afternoon that Morant "will be away from the team for at least the next two games," meaning he will not play Sunday against the LA Clippers or Tuesday against the Los Angeles Lakers.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/35782987/nba-investigating-ja-morant-displays-gun-instagram-video

This kid needs help, first the "laser incident", and then Ja Morant Accused Of Beating Up, Pointing Gun at 17-Year-Old.

Shannon Sharpe is right, he is no gangsta, the NBA should take this seriously before everything went out of control.

Yes, he indeed needed some help and to be fair, Ja Morant was humble enough to admit his mistakes and I forgot if he said this in an interview or in his twitter account before he deactivate it earlier this day, he said that he will be away for some time to get some help because he doesn't know what to do or what should he do to blow off some steam after a stress practice or game.

I also got some time earlier to read a some of criticisms about Ja Morant, one of them compared Ja to Lillard because the latter was the real gangsta but he didn't behave like one because it wasn't cool to act like it while you're like an icon to a specific sports and the other said that, how is Ja a gansta if he came from a suburb and did study in a private school Grin Anyway, being professional inside and outside the game is a must especially in this modern era where eyes are everywhere.
782  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: March 04, 2023, 08:03:52 PM
Despite scoring 38 points, Davis was unable to carry his team to victory. The Lakers really need LeBron; although they have won some games without him, their playoff chances might be at risk without consistency. It was a home game, so they were supposed to win with their home advantage, but they lacked energy, the ball movement seemed lost, and they relied too much on their big man AD."
So that's an interesting factor...
In the victory against OKC, most of the Lakers players scored, and they won the match without LJ and AD.

I have no doubt that in the game against the Timberwolves, AD would be the team's reference player, and indeed he was, AD scored 38 points, KAT was not playing, but Gobert played, in my view, AD played extremely well against the Timberwolves and mainly against Gobert.

I believe what happened in this last Lakers game was that the other players didn't perform relevantly to help the team to beat the Timberwolves.

Same here and in-fact, I did a wager in favor of the Los Angeles Lakers because what they did in their previous game versus the Minnesota Timberwolves was outstanding, especially Schroder but earlier, he was back again in his inconsistent phase. That is why I said to myself that they might make it this time because AD will be with them but that's not what happened as most of them failed to help their big man.
783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Robbery that attacks Bitcoin Holders on: March 03, 2023, 07:46:17 PM
People frequently get too cocky with their investment sometimes — by unnecessarily flaunting their holdings to other people; or sometimes, even just by simply wearing a bitcoin/crypto-related t-shirt. Personally, I'd rather prefer that no one knows that I'm into crypto at all; just to be extra sure.

https://cryptosec.info/wrench-attack/
It’s still best to stay unrecognized and even low key to avoid such undesirable situations. Since the victim is a blogger, he must be known to everyone that he is into crypto maybe because that is also his content from his stories. Though it could attract people to get into crypto, it’s also a way of allowing them to harm you anytime and anywhere. So one should always be careful not to expose whatever assets you have as it can trigger robbery and scamming.
784  Economy / Economics / Re: How we survive food shortages on: March 03, 2023, 07:07:04 PM
You might want to rephrase the cryptocurrency part because I couldn’t understand it one bit.

But to answer your question — chances are, food wouldn’t be literally inaccessible. It’s just that food will end up being really really expensive in a food shortage, so if you can’t afford the surplus, you’re screwed.

So the solutions are obviously:

- Work hard and smart so you can continue affording food even if food becomes expensive.
- Try growing your own food.
If you chose to stay and live in the city, you will always struggle buying all the expensive foods you want. That is why some have chose to go back to their provinces and live there if they find it hard growing their own food here. But if you can’t grow your food, then focus on improving your source of income or do some side hustles so you can have additional profits that will help you to buy those foods you really want to eat. People should never see this food shortages as a big problem, the biggest problem they have to face is when they don’t have any penny to buy their foods and end up starving to death.
785  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Never Trade on Emotions on: March 03, 2023, 06:46:38 PM
I would like to give some advice, especially to those who are new to the market. Whoever there is a pump in the market, you think you should invest in Bitcoin and Altcoins and you may benefit from it. But after your investment, the market goes down, and you think you are losing money, so you sell everything, again when you see the market go up you invest. This may you to get hurt again and again and again. So whenever you have to invest, invest a small portion of your portfolio. Never trade on emotions calculate well and then invest in it, also the type of people who lose in trading the et are the ones who"
- panic
- Doubt
- Hurry
- Fomo
- Angry
- worried
A major key for a trader is your enemy is always his emotions.

Trading with all of this traits will cost you a lot because you cannot think more clearly with this since your set strategies will be over powered by your emotions and you cannot think smartly with that. Maybe this can be eliminated once you gain a lot of experience and to your consistency in trading since for sure every bad movements in the market you will look at it as opportunity.
Eradicating all these traits might be easily said but actually hard to do especially fighting your own emotions. But with enough gained experiences in trading, you can slowly control your emotions when trading until you find it easier to separate emotions from your trades. And once this happens, you can focus on your set goal in trading and you can make right decisions without being triggered by your emotions.
786  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Willing to invest on bitcoin but having some challenges. on: March 03, 2023, 06:29:56 PM
I live in an iland called MINAMA, over here there is no electricity, major road, or boreholes we all use the water from the river and it's affecting us, but that's not my problem,  my problem is I'm not always online on this forum because there is no light and no were to charge my cellphone so I always manage my battery. The only place am charging my phone is my neighbor's place, now am tired of going there to charge my cellphone, so what will I do so I can be more available on this forum?
(....)
There are a lot of ways to learn. If you want to learn you will always find ways. The best example for your case is you can download some lessons like videos/articles/e-books so that will be available offline, using less internet could help to save more of your battery.

About Bitcoin, since you are beginning, it's tough early. But if you are just consistent and dedicated it is really fun to learn how Bitcoin works or what really Bitcoin is. It's really high advisable to learn the basics first, read, listen, and watch lessons on Bitcoin, it will help.
Where there’s a will, there’s a way, so keep doing what you think is right and focus first on learning everything about bitcoin as storing offline information is always possible. That way, your battery won’t be compromised and when you think you are ready to start bitcoin investment and purchase a small portion, just trust yourself that you can do it and trust the process. No matter how hard the challenge, you can overcome it along with your endless will.
787  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Set your mind on your goals and nothing else on: March 03, 2023, 05:59:26 PM
Trading in general — regardless if cryptocurrency trading or not, is such a difficult path to take that you really can't blame people for being skeptical/cautious. Long-term success rates are staggeringly bad that you're better off doing something else instead.

Assuming you're telling a true story of you doing well, don't get too cocky — because not because you did well in the past, doesn't automatically you're going to do well in the long-term.
People have different mindset towards crypto trading and you can’t expect for them to share the same mindset with you. That’s why you can’t blame them if they become skeptical about trading, especially that they have seen you struggling and losing your money in trading before. But that was before. Now, they have realized already that they’re wrong about crypto trading and so you should be considerate for them. Instead of resenting, give them another chance and help them if they ask help from you. You can always find friends as they only come and go, but real friends are hard to find and so let them stay. Share them about what you have learned from crypto, and maybe by this time they will be very willing to listen to you.
788  Economy / Economics / Re: Would You Consider Adding Bitcoin to Your Retirement Savings on: March 02, 2023, 09:45:09 PM
As a bitcoin supporter, would you consider adding bitcoin to your retirement savings, or do you prefer the traditional 401(K) or IRA? If yes, to what degree? 100%, 75 %, 50%? Also, do you think that accepting bitcoin into your retirement savings account is a form of the DCA method?
I will consider bitcoin as part of my retire plan. If possible I can use the retirement plan for buying assets like bitcoin and gold, I will prefer that. I m not having the fiat mentality because fiat value will always get to reduce.

I am not a type that have to depend on anything like government or anything that have to do with retire plan because I work for myself. I prefer my savings for the future not to be in fiat, it is better if I have asset instead. During a massive bear market, it is another good sign that I should save in bitcoin.
Well, established assets are more proven to see progress in the long term, so I would not become hesitant to accumulate more assets as much as I can. And I think bitcoin is a profitable asset as well, but still knowing the price has no guarantee if it may grow or drop in the long term, then I should invest on it responsibly. I can start with a small portion for bitcoin and just do DCA whenever I have spare money to risk on it.
789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in Bitcoin by selling wife's jewelry on: March 02, 2023, 11:28:08 AM

We know gold is very precious metal, but Bitcoin is much more expensive than gold. Bitcoin will cross $100k after halving in 2024 ie if I invest $3000 in Bitcoin now then there is a chance of getting 10x after 2024. If I get $30000 from investing $3000, nothing can be as valuable as Bitcoin. I explained this formula to my wife at night and she was not willing to give me her jewelery at first but today she told me by herself that you can sell my jewelery and invest in Bitcoin. At present I am forced to sell my wife's jewelery as I have no fiat money.
I seek advice from expert investors/holders/users of this forum,,,,
whether selling my wife's jewelery and investing on bitcoins makes sense?
Is it reasonable to invest in gold rather than bitcoin?
Personally, I would never risk my source of investment just to invest into a risky and volatile investment. I don’t want to compromise the first to gain from the other. Although I must admit that bitcoin is better than gold, but if you have the high desire to invest in it, then save for it to make it happen by not compromising your wife’s investment. Because even if she agrees to your decision, she would still regret the idea of selling her jewelries once your bitcoin investment did not succeed or become profitable in the end.
790  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is Neither Good or Bad on: March 01, 2023, 09:59:22 PM
Gambling is a bad habit especially if you are overdoing it. That is a known fact. We don’t need to have a debate over this. However, by playing responsibly you can minimize the bad effects of gambling in your life. Playing responsibly means that you shouldn’t lose your control. You can bet a hundred times in one day and still be a responsible gambler as long as you don’t wager too much.

If gambling makes you forget about the bad stuff you have in your life then you might even consider it a good thing. But like I said, you should play responsibly otherwise gambling will be just another problem for you to fix.
Everything that is done by abuse will not succeed. Same with gambling, if you gamble and used up all your money, that will turn you into a beggar and suffer the consequences from losing in gambling. For sure, no one’s gonna end up like that. However, if you only gamble at your spare money because you just want to be entertained, and yet you earned profits as a bonus, then you are doing gambling the right way. As long as you never crossed your limits in gambling, then you are considered a responsible gambler.
791  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 27, 2023, 07:43:02 PM
Here are my picks for today's game we got 3 games for today,

Philadelphia 76ers VS Miami Heat

The stake odds for this game are 1.43 for the 76ers and 2.95 for the Heat, for this game Dewayne Dedmon can not play for the 76ers, while Omer Yurtseven, and Nikola Jovic can not play for the heat, Kyle Lowry, Kevin Love, and Tyler Herro is doubtful if they can play for the heat, for this game because of the so many injuries of the Heat and a few of their main players my pick is the Philadelphia 76ers,

New York Knicks VS Boston Celtics

The stake odds for this game are 2.13 for the Knicks and 1.76 for the Celtics, right now the Knicks doesn't have any injuries, while Jaylen Brown and Danilo Gallinari can not play for the Celtics, and Derrick White is doubtful if he can play for the Celtics, for this game despite the Knicks doesn't have any injuries I still trust the Celtics with Jayson Tatum still in the team, my pick is the Boston Celtics,

New Orleans Pelicans VS Orlando Magic

The stake odds for this game are 1.59 for the Pelicans and 2.43 for the Magic, right now Larry Nance Jr., Zion Williamson, and E.J. Liddell can not play for the Pelicans, while Jonathan Isaac, can not play for the Magic and Michael Carter-Williams is doubtful if he can play for the Magic, for this game because they still got Brandon Ingram and CJ, McCollum so I will bet for the New Orleans Pelicans,

Thanks for the heads up mate and for your early bets as well.

Please let me tail you for the Celtics -2 and Sixers -5.5 bet because I got a feeling that the Celtics can still manage even without Brown on the lineup as there are still other reliable guys on their roster that will be present on the floor later and for the 76ers, I believe they can manage facing the Knicks and will bounce back from the decent they got in the last game.
792  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: February 27, 2023, 06:35:41 PM
Yes, let's just wait if we can watch this fight without having to pay huge price, hehehe. Much better if we can used that money to bet and try to get to watch it for free from some streaming services or those who are willing to share it in social media like Facebook.
That's true. I'm sure we can find one, but we have to be prepared for a possible interruption. If it's detected, the streaming will be stopped, and then we can still look for another streamer. I have no idea how much the cost of PPV is, but if it's over $50, then I think it's too high. We can instead use that amount to bet.

Should be higher than that, probably at least $100 because the PPV price of Davis vs Hector Garcia was $74.99.
reference : https://www.billboard.com/culture/product-recommendations/gervonta-davis-vs-louis-garcia-how-to-stream-the-ppv-boxing-match-online-1235195435/

If we really want to enjoy that fight with no interruption, we need to buy PPV, as it will surely give us the experience we want. This might be the only fight between these two if there's no rematch clause, so let's not waste this opportunity if we can afford to pay.

If there's no rematch clause then you are right, paying for PPV to truly enjoy the fight is one of the best options, if you are also into
gambling placing decent amount of bet to cover the fee might add up to the risk.

Not sure if I will take that route, as I don't know if the drama can be brought inside the ring, or all those trash talks are all for the benefits of ticket sales.

Let see if how fans will support them and how bettors will place bets for each fighter.

Speaking of whether this bout do have a rematch clause or not:
Quote
A dispute over the rematch clause had threatened to derail the fight, but that issue was resolved earlier this month after PBC agreed that Golden Boy would serve as the lead promoter for a second bout if Garcia wins.

Only Davis can exercise the rematch clause in the event he loses, per sources.
https://www.espn.com.au/boxing/story/_/id/35728299/gervonta-davis-ryan-garcia-bout-finalized-date-pushed-back

Well, PBC didn't fail to always surprise me as long as in every fight they have a boxer participating. In this case, it says above that only Gervonta Davis can exercise that said clause if in-case he will get defeated against Ryan Garcia while GBP will take over from organizing the 2nd bout. But if Ryan will get defeated,  I guess it will be a bye-bye because for Tank and PBC, Ryan Garcia is a finished chapter.
793  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Shakur Stevenson vs Shuichiro Yoshino April 8 on: February 27, 2023, 05:52:46 PM
Their record is well paired. Both have an undefeated record and have power punches that can knock out their opponent.  Though I have a feeling that this will be an easy fight for Shakur Stevenson since looking at the quality of the opponent, Stevenson has faced a better opponent and beat them.  This will be a test for the Japanese fighter if he can be as hot as Naoya Inoue in terms of dominating the ring.

Both boxers wanted the rewards that is earned after this fight but only one of them will continue successfully as a draw in this bout is very unlikely to happen and besides, we both know here who got the right talent to continue on his journey and who doesn't have what it takes to take the said reward. Shakur is on a campaign to get either Haney or Loma, so I don't really think that he'll just give this Japanese guy an easy way in.

I think this fight will have one fighter kissing the canvas since both have devastating power punches.

In terms of record, yes, it is well paired but on power level? I guess no, we probably know why as even the bookies gave 7:1 underdog odds to Yoshino despite having a good record but that record was just established inside Japan, so more like a localize fights rather than being held in an international ring like this bout.

Still though, we shouldn't be careless because there are some cases that the heavy underdogs will rise from the mud and defeat the favorite. But in this case, I definitely think that the chances are really slim and it's just unfortunate for Yoshino because he's being paired with Shakur.

Bookies certainly don't believe Yoshi can make it and I think the odds they give are reasonable because he hasn't fought anyone with remarkable.

Yesterday I watch a fight that I also thought was an easy win and then I lose when an upset happen. I tend to bet a sum for it is quite funny that I planned to celebrate before the fight happened. They are developing Shakur for a bigger fight. Although this might be more than a 50% win for Shakur, I will limit my wager to a minimum.

Yes mate, sometimes fate itself present to us unexpectedly as who knows, we are just betting on a specific fighter who does have a good chance of winning the fight but there are some instances that the underdog will heavily upset the crowd favorite and of course, the bookies favorite. At least, you and I pretty much learned a lesson about it Grin

In this fight, it's really hard to believe that Shakur will be the one who will get defeated by a local Japanese boxer who may have a pretty record but doesn't have a good boxer listed on his resume. But just like you, I also think that it's better to limit my wager but I'm also looking for another betting option which as of now are not yet published.
794  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 27, 2023, 09:33:59 AM
So let's see if James can pull this one out again in history for him.

A big achievement this season for the Los Angeles Lakers is being made with that comeback win. According to the current season record, teams are 0-138 this season when trailing by 27+ points. Not just because of Lebron but Anthony Davis and their best role players and teammates do a great job.

However, that achievement will surely much make sense to celebrate if they will keep establishing more wins as they badly need it to even make it to the play-in tournament which is for now, still need a tough work to make it happened.

Well, it seems that the Lakers carved its name again into the history books and proved that their team can still be worth the trust even if it's already down by 27 points. That gap was really hard to comeback especially in this case that the gap ballooned that much in the 2nd half, it was sure hard for the Lakers but they still managed to do so. It was a team effort after all and not just LeBron James alone, now they're on their 3rd winning streak but the next five games will be much tougher for them.
795  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: February 26, 2023, 07:09:08 PM
@danherbias07  - It was the Olympics though that Roy Jones was robbed of the gold medal, so it can't be compare and that was a long time ago. But in any case I agree that Fulton needs to go to Japan and handle his business with the Monster.

That's the only way he can really gain the respect of being a champion, but beating Inoue in his home town. Going to be a big task for him, at least he is willing to take that and not avoiding him.
Is it official that this fight will happen in Inoue's hometown and is there a set date already?

This will be by far a tough fight for Fulton facing Inoue and might be his first loss. Fulton is also a good boxer known as defensive but is his strength and power enough to beat the monster? I don't think so. Nevertheless I admire him for his guts to face Inoue.

AFAIK, it's not yet official and I tried looking up on the web to see if there's a new update regarding their fight. What we have now is just a verbal agreement between both camps that they agreed to fight at 122 and that the said fight will take place in Japan somewhere in April or May. Although it's not yet official, the likelihood of the fight being in hosted in Japan is greater than it could happen in the U.S. soil.
796  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 26 in Saudi Arabia on: February 25, 2023, 06:06:17 PM
Can someone explain to me this new "entertainment boxing" thing? I get that boxing is watched a lot, I remember clearly when pacman fought mayweather and that was an insane period, definitely not something underrated, one of the most watched and all that. But this? This is basically a youtuber fighting a boxers brother who is famous for being on a reality show.

I get that they had a few fights, but most of them were entertainment fights and nothing to do with real title chance. Like anyone who is on their way to win the real title, would simply destroy these two in a single round, without a doubt. I am not entirely if they are checked for juicing or not, they look pretty juiced from the photos as well.

We can't really blame them if they see this industry as gold and honey because anyone can really make millions of dollars in almost twice per year as long as you got a huge fan base that will be around you and to support you in situations like these. You don't have to be a certified boxer or fighter to make a fight, that's the reality these days as anyone can make a good profit fight even without the support of the existing governing bodies.

We are just fortunate enough because we've seen the good old days where boxing is just too good to watch. Boxers have definitely thrived hard enough to gather and make someone their fans as technology wasn't as good as we have now, that's why if they are famous, it's expected that they are strong and hard.
797  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 25, 2023, 03:42:11 PM

This is what's good with the Bucks. They're very balanced that even their one superstar player is out, they still have players that can step up offensively and take the game. This time, all of them contributed on offense as 6 players are in double digits. It's good to see Crowder back as well scoring 9 points. 3/3 for you so far. Let's watch the Kings vs. Clippers. Smiley

Yes, they don't rely too much on Giannis now. They are following a system that has resulted in a balanced offense and defense. Jae Crowder was a big steal for the Bucks, as he is an all-around player, a good 3-point shooter, and a good defender as well. The Bucks are not short of players who can contribute, especially in the playoffs.

It seems that the Suns wasn't the only team that is on the campaign to have the championship this year, I mean, just look at the improvement of their roster. The fact that they aren't relying on Giannis now makes them more dangerous as Giannis can now move freely without thinking too much about their defense as they already got some of their guys for that job who is indeed reliable.

The Clippers vs Kings game has now entered double overtime.

Clippers bettors should be happy now because there's still a chance that the spread will be covered. Good luck, guys! I'm enjoying the game so far. It looks like the Kings are for real, and they are a threat in the West with the way they are playing.

That game was nuts. A shame it didn’t end in regulation. I thought for a minute that Russell Westbrook was going to make the game winning shot but instead he ended up fouling out in double overtime and the Kings managed to go up by a point for the win. That has to be the highest scoring game of the year. Both teams shot insane percentages.

It was a breath taking game and a high scoring game indeed, let's not forget that it was not all about offensive as both teams are really guarding heavily and not to give an easy attempt. As the game goes by, I almost got the impression that the Clippers will indeed win the game, and will score more than enough to cover the spread but that wasn't the case when the game ended.

Westbrook though, he got a pretty decent stats in the game today even if he's still adjusting to the team. He got 17 points with a 53.8% FG and 1/4 3PA which is 25% beyond the arc. Like as expected, he's just there to open up a spot for the main guys but he's not really restricted to shoot the ball whenever he got an opening.

Their generation is different from ours. Some of them are trying to work hard just to earn money; it depends on what kind of environment they have. If your family has grown already into a middle-class to lower-class work, for sure, some of yours want to stick where you can get the money until you survive and some of them into the field of business so they keep into an investment, this time the generation of the millennials are the one who is actively in exploring different things such as this bitcoin things this could be another way of earnings and learnings at the same time. In reality, you cannot push someone who has already designed their workflow.
OP just fail to explain well about what he is currently doing that’s why when asked by his father, his father didn’t know what he is talking about. Most likely, his father is not aware about online jobs and all its alike including bitcoin giving us opportunities to earn. His generation is clearly different from ours as they may be used to see physical jobs, but our generation is more on virtual or online job opportunities. However, you should have told your father about that so he won’t do overthinking on how you make your own money without seeing you working on a regular day job.

My grandfather has some wealth. Now my grandfather will invest all his wealth in Bitcoin. I told my grandfather not to invest all your wealth in Bitcoin. I suggested to my grandfather that Bitcoin not only has the potential for profit, but also the potential for loss. So you invest some wealth in Bitcoin. You don't have to sit on the street if your investment suffers.

My only question to all, was I able to give my grandfather the right advice??
Yes, what you did is right. Bitcoin investment has higher risks compared to other investments, so one should not invest all in or putting all his wealth into bitcoin knowing it could always result into life changing losses even with a single mistake done. However, your grandfather could still put just a portion of his wealth and invest in bitcoin for long term. And when that profits, eventually he can increase his investment capital and accumulate more bitcoin for more future profits.
