821  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 18, 2023, 03:26:02 PM
The scary part about the Phoenix Suns is CP3 has more options for his passing skills. He himself is already a threat with that mid-range perfection skill and it can pull two defenders to open up space for either Booker, Ayton, or KD. So he can do a lob, kick it out, or just let Durant do his magic.
But I will focus on what they will do to make stops, defense must also be as strong as possible to win games.

I have to agree with that "BUT ONLY" if Chris Paul will maintain that kind of consistency in the playoffs.

Regardless of how he performed well in the season, CP3 always choked at the latter part of the playoffs out of nowhere. Blewing a series lead even way back to his Los Angeles Clippers stint up to the last playoffs with his current team, Phoenix Suns.

But who knows with Durant as the new teammate that he requested, things might change in the playoffs.

Oh well, CP3 almost has it but blew it away against the Bucks.

Remembering back when he still playing with Griffin and they are really hot and solid contender in the West but always failed
to beat either Spurs and Warriors. Another shot with the Rockets but then again he missed one important game that lead them
losing with the Warriors.

Hopefully, before he retires his jersey, he will achieve what players always dream to have when playing in this league, a ring
for the final world champ.

You all forget one important factor why Chris Paul can't win, it's because of referee Scott Foster, Lol. Paul has now lost 14 straight games when playing a a game refereed by Foster.

But seriously, this could be the closest if Durant will be healthy again and like averaging 25++ ppg with the Suns. Definitely Booker scoring will suffer, but they should look at the bright side, the Durant will bring team and CP3 a ring before he retires.

So, it's now 0-14 in favor of Scott Foster Grin The man will surely have some nightmares if ever he will see Foster again in the playoffs where they definitely need a win.

Anyway, there's nothing to worry about that as referees like that will surely be watched by how they will handle the game. Recently, another referee went viral named Eric Lewis after a picture of his family floated on the internet wearing Boston Celtics jersey as their family has been an avid fan of the team since then. Hopefully, there wont' be any unfair judgement in the upcoming playoffs especially the Finals.
822  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't have high expectations in the crypto world. on: February 17, 2023, 07:29:20 PM
I would say it depends but the condition of the market, having a high expectations will hurt you since it's very volatile. I wouldn't expect too much on my asset but if you are determined to make a huge profit in the future. Make sure you don't doubt and never regret on when you are selling your asset then reinvest after that. So, basically, all you need is a good plan whether it's plan A to Z in case the other plans doesn't work. That's all you need, determination!
You have a good point. No matter how risky it is, as long as you have your own plan on how to make it work, and you have faith in crypto that’s why your determined to succeed, then it’s never an issue if you set high expectations for crypto. For me, it’s also a sort of good motivation because I won’t be striving hard if I know from the start that taking all these risks are worth for nothing.
823  Economy / Economics / Re: A steady source of income is a man's bottom line to support his family on: February 17, 2023, 06:59:15 PM
Or better yet, have multiple income streams. Just so you have a backup if you get fired from your job or your main income goes bust.
If you can do that, your life will be more manageable and safer. But of course, you have to gain and hone your skills for these, so you will be accepted from side hustle companies. That way, you know you have an edge over the others. And you can secure the future of your family because you have enough funds to save aside from saving for emergency funds.
824  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin gambling problem on: February 17, 2023, 06:44:49 PM
Problem gambling can happen in every format. Be it an online casino or offline casino. So not sure why bitcoin gambling is highlighted in the subject line. It could have been written in a more generic way.

Problem gambling depends on an individual. Gambling houses have no role there. Gambling is a legal business and there are several medical resources available to counter/handle problem gambling. The link you have shared is one of such resources.
Gambling problems are expected especially if you are into consistent gambling. Most likely for finances, as your pocket will be drained if you keep on gambling until you used all your money. Or if you want to gamble and  yet you have no budget for gambling, I guess that is still considered a gambling problem. But nevertheless, gambling problems have its own solutions, and this link might somehow be helpful for that. Thanks OP.
825  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The 4 trading fears and how to overcome them on: February 17, 2023, 06:30:40 PM
Fear of losing money and fear of missing out are the common fears I believe that most of the new traders have.

They want to earn a lot of profits but they don't want to risk their money at the same time, which contradicts everything. While fear of missing out is that they are being jealous to a friend trader who just made a lot of profits in a single trade of a certain coin so he will instantly put his money on that certain coin and expecting to make a lot of profit as well even know he doesn't even know its current situation.
You won’t be profitable in the end if you are unlikely to spend some of your money because you are afraid to lose them all. Of course, you will lose them especially if you trade without good preparation. But if you are a responsible trader and has equipped knowledge and skills to trade, then why fear of losing? However, this FOMO is eventually not a good practice whether it’s trading or investing. Everything should follow a good plan, that’s why you have to set your own timeline and goal before you start to put it into action.
826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Know your limit on: February 17, 2023, 05:58:49 PM
Avoid ending up like a friend, who used all the money he has to invest in bitcoin and also took a loan, promising the lender that he will pay back when he gets paid in a month, after a month he never received the salary, I warned him doing this, because he has no doubt mixed investment with 'whatever it takes', is it safe to call this greed? I don't know.

Now he wants me to lend him some money to at least pay the loaner back and later settle me, there is more, now I have to send him some money to buy some food.

You don't have to use all your money to invest, even if you are not married yet or have other responsibilities, the best approach when planning to invest in Bitcoin is to buy with some percentage of the money you earning, maybe through business or a job.

If you do this weekly or monthly you won't feel any pressure, always remember that health is wealth.

Investing needs not to be rushed but it takes a good plan before you will start doing it. And when you do, it’s best to invest at a spare money or from your own savings that you can manage to lose, not from a loan amount or money that is reserved to pay the bills. Because we all know that bitcoin investing is for long term, so we should not expect quick profits from it, the reason why we should only invest with extra money that we are not going to use. However, your friend still insist on his own timeline and his own way of investing. Whatever the consequences, he should bear them all responsibly. And you are not obliged to help him at all times, especially if it’s already crossing your limits.
827  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My perceived unconscious benefit of bitcointalk. on: February 16, 2023, 09:59:40 PM
This forum is the best if you want to learn different things in life and not just about bitcoin, crypto, finance, politics, economics, etc. You name them all and you might find everything in here. It's all complete package and what I've learned a lot is about finance (bitcoin, alts, economics).
That's why if we're not happy with this community, you're not seeing the light and the help that it's giving for free. Most resources can be found in the web but bitcointalk is something else and to mind you, satoshi was here, founded it and once has been active in here. You will feel that proud moment.
Precisely this one is the best. Everything you want to discover and learn about life is almost here, but you won’t learn it easily if you will never explore the forum itself and take time on making DYOR as everything here also need thorough research so that the learning will be more effective. And since the main focus here is bitcoin and it’s blockchain technology, expect that most of the topics here are closely related to bitcoin which I think are great advantage on our part so we can prepare ourselves if ever bitcoin becomes a global currency in the future.
828  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Choosing between your relationship and gambling. on: February 16, 2023, 10:57:17 AM
Where's the trust? Why compare him with someone else from her own past experience? And she should ask him first if he had done something like selling properties, pawning things, loans, or anything money related just to supply the gambling habit.

She found out about his hobby so what? We, men, don't need them to be supportive of what we are doing, as long as we don't cross the line. That's where they come in. I have been gambling for years too and my wife doesn't actually care what I gamble as long as I am responsible, can supply them with their needs and a little luxury. Now that's trust.
Maybe she is just exaggerating because of his previous experience, like a trauma, but it can be fixed thru explanation. They won't go farther if your cousin stops and won't be happy anymore. Worse, he will hide the hobby and it leads to an unhappy relationship filled with fights.
Not all gamblers have the same way of thinking and on how they deal with their individual issues. If her brother ends up a gambling addict, it’s because he chose it and the way he responded to it leads him to a more serious gambling addiction. But her brother and his fiancée are way more different. Your cousin knows how to handle his gambling addiction and it even provide him as his side hustle. So there’s no reason that he should stop gambling, as he can still in full control of his life and on his relationship with his fiancée. Otherwise, if he will stop gambling to save their relationship, it only means he agrees on the assumptions of his fiancee.
829  Economy / Economics / Re: Can one achieve financial independence through crypto currency? on: February 15, 2023, 09:53:25 PM
The popularity of crypto currencies has been on the rise in recent years and many people are drawn to them as a means to achieveing goal of financial freedom.
Additionally, the decentralization and global nature of crypto currencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum and others, have made them an attractive option for those who want to take control their financial future and want to avoid traditional banks and financial institutions. They can also provide hedge against inflation and currency devaluation.

Given these factors, the dream of financial freedom can come true by using crypto currency?
I know it’s possible because a lot of people that are into crypto before are now experiencing financial security and financial freedom. Especially in times of endless inflation, the more that we should have crypto hodlings instead of focusing on fiat alone. But always know that crypto has also its own risks that’s why we should first study and learn about it before we let ourselves engage into bitcoin or any cryptocurrency.
830  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: February 13, 2023, 10:21:08 PM
Inoue is taking a risk, there is little doubt in my mind this is the case, and we have a very recent example with Canelo, Canelo has a huge punching power on his division, but as soon as he moved up and fought against Bivol his punching power became trivial and Bivol dominated him clearly, now I think of Inoue as a better fighter than Canelo so it is likely he can overcome this, so it is a risk to fight a champion right away but even then I still think he can win.

Inoue taking a risk? Fulton is even the underdog in this match. Inoue can surely handle Fulton. That Canelo's case is different from Inoue's today, Canelo is pushing for a big difference in the environment when he chooses to fight Dmitry Bivol. Just wait and see how Inoue will beat Fulton and unify all other belts at the Super Bantamweight division.

As we speaks, Inoue as a challenger is still the Favorite to win the match.

I believe Canelo was also the favorite when he fought Bivol, but it turns out he was well dominated by the speed and size of a champion. Maybe this fight is quite different as Inoue is the heavy favorite, and I think Inoue is very much comfortable with the new weight class.

Yes, you're right about that. Canelo Alvarez was indeed the heavy favorite at that time when he fought for Bivol's LHW WBA belt, if I'm not mistaken, it was a 3:1 odds in favor of Canelo to win and I won't deny that even me at that time underestimated Bivol especially about the fact that he might be pressured and can't think clearly because of the on-going war on his country against Ukraine and besides, who could possibly side against Canelo, right? But Bivol proved a lot of us here wrong because he clearly dominated Canelo in almost every round and leave Canelo upset especially in the late rounds where the challenger did not expect that Bivol will embarrass him.
831  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco - May 20 on: February 13, 2023, 09:53:32 PM
There are some rumors circulating that it is possible that the fight deal won't realized because Haney had found way to evade Lomachenko by asking higher percentage income on the fight.  If we can recall Haney had demanded some advantage on the split and Lomachenko camp agreed.  Now Haney is asking for another raise of percentage and the camp of Lomachenko hasn't replied yet.
I don’t think Haney is ready to beat Lomachenko because it’s obvious with all these issues, Haney seems trying to evade from this fight not to happen. But that is not the case with Lomachenko as he is even more motivated to win and definitely want to beat Haney since it would put him back as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. This is another one big fight for the battle for lightweight glory so this should not be canceled or postponed either way.

This just shows that people are indeed divided in this fight because there also fans out there who believed that Haney could defeat the former champion, and some are also favoring Lomachenko as they also believed that he can still be a champion once again. But there's this fact that it's hard to deny and that was Loma's recent fight with Barrios, I mean, I know he's still good but he is not that agile anymore unlike in the old days where he is like gliding in the ring blinding his foes in corners. Still, it's a must prove to Loma if he still has that skills and show that world that he was just adjusting on his recent fight.

Its' really hard to imagine how the fight will turn out, others says it's 50/50 because of the contrasting style of the two. Just to correct you though, Loma's recent fight is with the young and bigger Ortiz not Barrios.

But in any case, not sure who to bet on this fight, maybe before the actual schedule of the fight I will decided who is to bet.

Right now, when the negotiations is still ongoing as there are news that Haney wanted more money, I don't know who to go to.

Yes, it's indeed 50:50 even for me. Seeing Loma fighting Ortiz recently made me think that this guy is just feeling the ring and adjusting because inactive for quite a long time because of the war. He may surprise us if ever this fight will push through because I really don't believe that Loma will suddenly turn to a decent boxer from being a master of technicalities and a hard one to predict.

But judging the current situation, we can't say yet if this fight is already good to go even if they already figured out the date. Although I seriously do think that Bob Arum will somehow figure out what to do in this kind of situation as of course this is not his first time encountering this kind of scenario.

That's also what I'm thinking, he lost the belt to Lopez because he has a shoulder injury and then when back and beat Nakatani by TKO and then Richard Commey by decision and then the war started and his supposedly fight with Kambosos was postponed.

And so it's a different situation wherein you are coming back from a injury as opposed to being away from boxing because you have to defend your motherland in a war. Poles apart, so the mindset is not the same when he had his comeback against Ortiz.

Aside from that, Loma wasn't that much inactive for a long time to even consider that his inactivity poses a threat to his career which will make him rusty in the ring, no, he was only inactive for almost a year because a war suddenly broke up after he fought Commey last December of 2021. I remember that fans are so glad to see him again in the ring, but the expectation wasn't met. This time, I got a feeling that this will be a close fight as Loma was already longing for his lost belts that is now with Devin Haney and let's just hope that there will be no sudden issues again that will rise that could delay the fight once more.
832  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: February 13, 2023, 08:49:00 PM
Qatar has shown their potential in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It has been the best World Cup in history so far. You hope that the 2026 World Cup will write more chapters in history than this World Cup.
Indeed, at the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar showed that they managed to make history by becoming the best host in the history of this prestigious football event.
However, if the 2026 World Cup, which will host the United States, is chosen to host, then I am sure that I can compete with Qatar as the best host. America is a developed country and belongs to the most advanced economy in the world, so it will be easy for America to make the World Cup the best and the most luxurious, So maybe in 2026 America can write a new history in the history of the FIFA World Cup.

Not just America but the whole North American continent will host the game and that includes Mexico and Canada while the United States of America will host most of the games, 40 games to be exact out of 60 games that will be played as they got more bigger stadium that can cater tens of thousands of people in one go. Aside from that, I think America got the highest bid out of 3 countries named, that's why most games will happen in their country. Correct me if I'm wrong Cheesy Besides, let's expect that this upcoming World Cup will be explosive as well or much more than what happened recently.
833  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 26 in Saudi Arabia on: February 12, 2023, 09:16:56 PM
Even his fights in the professional are not good all his opponents are patsies, he fought fighters that do not fight back or do not have punches that can hurt, so this fight against Jake Paul is the first fight where he will fight a skilled fighter who can duck, counter punches and with posses good power in his punches.
Jake Paul is similar like Tommy Fury, his fight is full of cherry picked and not really a real boxer. I don't think Jake Paul can duck, he mostly throw random punch and make sure his punch will hurt his opponent. At least both of them are in the same level, so the fight can't be predicted which one will win.

Jake Paul can easily lose if he fight with a boxer who have a good dodge and technical skill e.g. Canelo, but yeah it doesn't make sense for new boxer fight with an Ex-Top 1 P4P rank.

Yes mate, of course Grin Jake Paul will be sleeping peacefully on the canvass if he's caught off guard with the likes of Canelo who's punches are very hard to predict but I don't think that will happen though even if Jake Paul has been calling champions like Canelo. Still, he's way too out of league to call such names if he can't even fight and defeat a Bonafide boxers.

About this fight, hopefully this two will clash once and for all to settle their nonsense rivalry. But I surely love Tommy Fury's antics because he kept on teasing Jake Paul and yes, just recently, he gave Jake Paul a headache for not showing. Hopefully he can face Jake and give a good fight, I just love seeing two nonchalant people fighting each other even if they believe they are a true boxer hehe.
834  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 12, 2023, 08:16:23 PM
The bet with the 76ers hit in the end but then I guess it was quite a game to watch, I'd say the Brooklyn are now very underrated by we bettors, that young team are so full of energy and seem better from having KD and Kyrie on the floor, but then perhaps the lack the ability to close out games, but it would have been a very well worthy win if they had won the game.

Not so much for tonight just 2 games and we're all up for the Super Bowl. Memphis Grizzlies vs Boston Celtics should be an interesting game to see before the Super Bowl.

76ers are lucky that the last shot did not count, this game could have gone to OT and we never know what will happen from there.

Thomas is now back to his usual average, but the good thing about the Nets is they have plenty of scorers, this game it was Bridges who led the team with 23 points. I think they will be underdog in most of their games, so if they'll continue to cover the spread, then that should make the bettors profitable.

I guess they still won't be making any difference even if the Nets managed to force the game into OT as it's the Sixers who got more experience and exposure, and that means that the Sixers will prevail once the game has gone through OT. Just like the Heat vs Magic game, and just like the Nets, they led the game as it seems that they already got things in total control but a much-experienced team will chase them down and break their spirits. Anyway, it was a good game.

Right now, the Celtics vs Grizzlies just got through the halftime and I'll be tapping with the Celtics -4.5 @ 1.91 while the line is still open.

Later on, we might see Drake again racking up and showing his humungous bets to the whole gambling industry.
835  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: February 12, 2023, 10:22:47 AM
The initial date that we here for his fight is sometime around April or even May in Japan. Maybe they are just waiting for a good weather there and just few touch ups on the contract itself.

And as long as we don't hear even a little problem on this fight, we can always assume that it's going to happen. Besides, I'm pretty sure that Bob Arum would like this fight, another belt for his cash cow in case Inoue will win, that way Inoue's popularity will increase which will benefit his promotion.

So far, we haven't heard some unfortunate news between two camps and that means that their discussion is going smoothly. I know Bob Arum won't insist himself to get his boxer to the A-side because they are just a visitor and a challenger of Fulton's belt and if ever Bob will insist, just if ever, I bet that will be the start of misunderstanding that might result into a promoter's rivalry because Al Haymon will surely appear when that happens. But again, so far so good.
836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 12, 2023, 04:14:06 AM
I'll be rooting for this combination to work out, and I hope even more that CP3 gets his dreamed champion ring

Paul deserves to have at least one championship ring, but he doesn't have much time left. His current contract with the Suns will expire after the 24/25 season, and that's probably the last contract of his career because he'll be 40 years old by then. So it looks like Durant is Paul's last hope, although, as I said before, winning a championship won't be an easy task for the Suns.

The competition in the West now has getting harder and harder to climb especially for the Suns even if they got a good additional by acquiring Kevin Durant into their roster. Because how about if one or two of them gets injured in the playoffs where the intensity of the game brings too much wear and tear to the player, who will be the replacement of the said injured if there are already no reliable role players available. CP3 surely deserves to have at least one ring, but can they do it this season? Maybe but it won't be an easy journey as well as for the other teams in the league now.

838  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do casino and sports betting platform owners gamble as much as other people? on: February 10, 2023, 07:14:54 PM
Farmers who have chickens for eggs especially on a large scale, easily get tired of eating the eggs from their chickens or even eggs in general. Caterers get tired of eating their own pastries, just as people who are exposed to certain produce get tired of them due to over exposure. Do you think this experience is the same for casino owners and owners of sports betting platforms?

Do you think that the owners of casinos and sports betting platform, gamble as much as other people do? If they gamble, do you think they gamble on their platform?

Most probably, gambling casino owners have wide experience when it comes to gambling that’s why they chose to make it as a business instead because they know exactly how gamblers would end up loving the experience in gambling casinos that would make them to keep coming back and gamble again. And of course, those who will test first the gambling experience before any random gamblers are surely the casino owners themselves so that they can assess if the experience is worth it or not.
839  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Share Tips For Newbie Traders on: February 10, 2023, 11:01:53 AM
If you are an experienced trader reading this, how did you know that you were not wasting your time trading at the time when you felt this way?
The first thing I had at the back of my mind was to always welcome losses too as they are part of trading and then try to create a good strategy to get me net profits over time.

The mentality some people have is that they can always only make profits without losses in trading. This is very wrong.

Another thing is only use funds you can afford to lose and make sure there is another side source of income for a beginning to avoid much pressure.
Losing is already part of trading so if you think you are just wasting your time in trading because of your consistent losses, your mindset is very wrong. Do not forget that those who succeeded in trading today were once losers in the start, but they chose to overcome their losses by getting more experience in trading so they can start avoiding some losses if possible. So if you trade and then you lose, take it as a challenge and never quit unless you have no sufficient amount of capital to trade. That is why trading should only serve as a side hustle, you should have your main job that will provide you fixed income.
840  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My ideals on how to promote Bitcoin in my locality on: February 10, 2023, 07:41:13 AM
There are so many ways Bitcoin can be promoted especially here in Nigeria and wold wide.
Firstly religious leaders play a very interesting roles in the life of people and are seen as role models and mentors some see them as a father figure, so what ever this set of people tell there followers that is what exactly they will all do.
With the numbers of churches and mosques that we have I know if Bitcoins is been enlightened to us through this regions then people will trust and believe in BTC, Bitcoin will surely go more far and spread wide with this ideas.
Secondly Bitcoin is better than saving in a bank because it appreciate while it is been saved in our wallets and it is also an investment, so many people complain from there day to day activities with the local banks of been debited without cause and reducing the expected savings this is not a good reputation and Bitcoin has solve this aspect of issues, with the security of wallets, hard ware and software wallets fraud is been reduced making both the old and the young to believe that they are saved from been scammed through BTC.

#Just my thoughts.
I don’t see any relevance bitcoin should be taught in a church just for the goal of promotion. Maybe outside the church it can be possibly done but never when the mass is still going on. Especially that bitcoin is not yet legalized in most countries so it might create a form of opposition on the people around knowing illegal things should never be introduced or promoted particularly from the mouth of religious leaders. So I think I have to disagree to OP that bitcoin should be promoted by religious leaders.
