Last weekend Vergil Ortiz Jr. once again dominated and knocked out another opponent. His resume is very scary at a 19-0-19 record and with solid performances over tough former world champions and top contenders. When will this kid get a title shot? I followed him and Teofimo Lopez when they started their careers and I used to think that one day they will be fighting each other. Now Vergil is a welterweight and is yet to become champion while Teofimo already became a lineal and unified champ at lightweight and is now seeking his second division title. These 2 young stars have opposite personalities in boxing though as Teofimo is loud and arrogant while Vergil is humble and always smiling.
2682  Economy / Economics / Re: Nations should impose special taxes on oil firms: UN Secretary General on: August 07, 2022, 07:51:14 PM
Most of the time the most popular brands are used as examples. The biggest oil companies nowadays are not all controlled by the west but by China and who will miss Saudi Arabia's giant Aramco?

There are a lot of replies already and pretty sure it's mentioned too that putting an additional tax on these giant companies will only make them raise their oil prices too. In the end, it is the common people that will suffer and pay the imposed additional tax.

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) will only increase the oil price to absorb the taxes that they have to pay. They are the giants who are making the rules for the different governments.  Roll Eyes

I will rather put pressure on governments to remove all the fuel levies and fees and taxes that are added to the petrol and gas prices ....that are one of the main factors that are inflating the fuel prices.  Angry Angry Angry
The problem is most government officials are not serving the huge chunk which is the ordinary people but they are serving these giant companies and powerful people that funded their campaigns or influenced their appointments.
2683  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1 year of accepting crypto payment in my fashion store on: August 07, 2022, 07:18:45 PM
So far it is only Central African Republic and El Salvador that consider bitcoin as legal tender. So I assume that it is not strict there in Nigeria with regards to tax enforcement. I remember when a friend of mine considered bitcoin in his business. Our tax bureau ordered a heavy penalty since bitcoin is not a legal tender in my country. My friend's lawyer said that it was better to close the business rather than pay the penalties. So the business was closed. Then after nearly a year, my friend started the same type of business but with a different registered name.

Though taxation systems may vary depending on certain countries' laws, and considering its volatility, the easiest way is to indicate bitcoin payments but it should be always accompanied by fiat conversion. This way, accounting reports are easier to be made and all will be based on the local currency including its tax dues.

Otherwise, in a perfect bitcoin-accepted nation, there will be 2 financial recordings and 2 accounting reports, 1 from local fiat and the other 1 from bitcoin payments that should be also payable by bitcoin. But I doubt this will happen even when the bitcoin price becomes stable because it will take time, effort, and resources when it can be simplified. Governments might allow businesses to pay their taxes either by their local fiat or bitcoin. But bitcoin payments will always be recorded with matching fiat conversion just like a foreign currency.
2684  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 07, 2022, 05:28:24 PM

The source is saying that Lebron is likely to extend with Lakers for two more years soon. I have been wondering if he would leave the team if they don't make the changes he would like to be more successful. For example, they are still keeping Westbrook in the team which is not a thing that I like. But as long as Lebron doesn't get an offer from a much more favorable team it looks like he is staying.

By the way Lebron's main goal now is to play with his son as it is added in the source as well. He wants to play one season with his son and retire after that.

( The source : https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10044509-lebron-james-rumors-all-signs-point-toward-lakers-star-signing-contract-extension )
I thought he is going back to the Cavaliers to play with the young guys there and just say "I'm back" in an Arnold Schwarzenegger style.  Cheesy
Maybe after these 2 more years as he is still in a good condition to add another championship for the Lakers.

Going back to Cavaliers? Nah, I don't think so.  Grin  Cavaliers were absolutely a special team for Lebron. But after he left the team the supporters didn't react very nice to that. I'm not expecting him to go back there from now on to be honest. If he suddenly decides to leave the team then I would like to watch him at one of the biggest candidates of the championship. Because Lebron is still very ambitious and he wants to be the champion still. Lakers can't give this as long as they don't make the necessary changes.
The Lakers' unwillingness to add drafts and or maybe some players in order to trade Westbrook for Kyrie probably ended the negotiation. Lakers' management is torn between going all in while Lebron is still playing very well but sacrificing future drafts. And Lebron is not getting any younger.

Maybe Lebron is willing to return to Cleveland or play with his son once he is not already a top-level player.

OG is still fck up if they can’t find any solution to beat LGD which keeps giving them a hard time since Riyadh Master.
Well to be fair to OG, nobody seems to have a solution for PSG.LGD when they decide to play seriously. They are just on another level with all the heroes and strategies they can bring to play in any given map. It is not like you can ban a couple of signature heroes against LGD and then have an upper hand.
LGD is always very consistent when it comes to top-level gaming. And it is interesting this coming TI if they can finally win the Aegis. It's funny but I think LGD despite not winning a single TI is still the most consistent TI performer in nearly a decade.

Too many exciting and deciding games today. And finally, after losing all my previous bets in Arlington Major, I got my first win with -0.5 map with OG against TA.

And I am not finished believing that LGD will still try to help RNG secure an upper bracket. I got RNG +0.5 map. Cheesy
2686  Economy / Economics / Re: Sanction isn't the right option on: August 07, 2022, 08:18:57 AM
Sanction will certainly make a greater impact on the country, those who are not involved with war will feel long suffering, we must find the best solution besides sanction, and many things that can be done without having to apply sanctions as happened with many countries such as Iraq , North Korea, and so on.
Will you care to explain what is supposed to be done if let's say you are the head of NATO or EU or the US/UK/France/Germany? Although I really believed that the leaders of these countries and organizations realized the huge impact of a boomerang because Europe is heavily dependent especially on Russian gas. They may find another source but it takes time and it will be more expensive because the long-term goal is clean energy. I felt bad for Ukraine but this war will end in defeat.

Iran despite heavy sanctions is still breathing and is actually not that poor due to their huge gas and oil which are sold secretly at discounted prices. North Korea is bleeding financially. But unlike Iran, North Korea has its own nukes which is why they cannot be touched easily by its enemies.

Day 26 Matches

Game1: 4:30 PM PH Time
Magnolia Hotshots +5.5
TNT Tropang Giga -5.5

Saklap nung nangyari sa Ginebra sa kamay ng Meralco last week. Cheesy Balik hulanysis ulit tayo after more than a week na nakamasid lang.
2688  Economy / Economics / Re: Can the US become EU's oil supplier?? on: August 06, 2022, 11:49:49 AM
The US will be happy supplying Europe but it is more expensive than Russian oil and gas. It will be shipped across the Atlantic Ocean whereas Russian oil and gas have their own pipelines already connected to various countries in Europe. Europe will have no other choice but to accept US exports but it will be limited to short-term only as negotiations are ongoing in nearby oil and gas countries like the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asian nations to build pipelines.

Taiwan is another issue but it will be bigger and might cause a world war. I am not sure if China is blockading it or if it is allowing trade routes to happen. Taiwan is another highly industrialized country needing a lot of energy and a blockade by China will put the US in a very tough and dangerous situation.

2690  Economy / Economics / Re: Sri Lanka Economic Crisis is Getting Worse on: August 06, 2022, 10:05:55 AM
Now China and India are contesting who's to save Sri Lanka from sinking deeper. But the Chinese have more money to offer although with high interests but there is nothing Sri Lanka can do as they need immediate assistance otherwise trouble will start once again. The Chinese also have remaining high stakes in the country and have control of a big port and probably more establishments and projects there, so it is most likely that the Sri Lankan government will allow them to dictate a recovery plan. I only hope that the Chinese will not deploy warships, warplanes, and military in the country because it will cause more trouble with neighboring India.
2691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: August 06, 2022, 09:52:16 AM
The issue of boxing judges being biased is very common. I don't think they are scared of being bashed by the boxing community. I think they are receiving a lot of money and other gifts once they rigged a fight in favor of the cash cow or the superstar or the hometown fighter or the promoter's fighter or the A-side fighter. And they are probably more scared if their scores favor a nobody, especially in a close fight because chances are they will be avoided the next time.

It's always the A-side, the cash cows, the influential promoters, the superstars, and the hometown fighters that dictate boxing events. State boxing commissions especially in Texas are very corrupt and boxing sanctioning organizations, especially the WBA and WBC are prone to corruption too, favoring money over honor. I think the mafia or the underground movement also has to do with this. Canelo clearly lost against the superstar Floyd Mayweather but still got a draw on 1 judge scorecard. I haven't scored the Canelo-Lara fight but I hear a lot of hardcore boxing fans say the latter was robbed. I scored the Canelo-Bivol fight and there's no way the former won five rounds.

Although I picked Canelo by KO in the survey, my heart is with GGG as always. I just always follow my head rather than my heart when it comes to betting and predicting. I will have no bet in this fight so I would be happy if my prediction fails.
2692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: August 06, 2022, 09:17:11 AM
Remember I have told you that this autumn gonna be awesome? Welsh gonna like that - on the UFC 281 Istael Adesanya gonna face Alex Pereira  Grin Revenge is comming. Or Pereira gonna prove once again that he is the best kickboxer on that weight division. This is going to be one of the toughest fights for Izzy.

It's great to see Pereira getting his title shot with only a few UFC fights. There is no need to have a 5 or more win streak in the UFC to get a title shot. I would love to see Shavkat Rakhmonov fighting a top 5 in his next fight and be given a title fight next year.

Back into the fight. Izzy became a better fighter in the UFC but I still believe Pereira is the bigger and stronger guy. My bet is on Pereira.
2693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Crawford vs Spence on: August 06, 2022, 08:33:37 AM

Let's skip for now the discussion about the issue of being "delayed" on any information or updates regarding this fight.

What's your input and feedback guys about Danny Garcia's recent statement that Errol Spence Jr. is too strong for Terence Crawford. When we say "too strong" it means he views the fight as a landslide victory in favor of Spence. I respect his view and even though I'm looking forward to Spence winning at this mega-bout, saying Spence is too much for Crawford is like underestimating the latter.

Errol Spence "too strong" for Terence Crawford says Danny Garcia

Well, I don't know, but perhaps García handles a type of information that is very different from what we normally see or handle, but he is referring to having bias because perhaps he has information on how the type of training of both boxers has been, and obviously he leans towards the one with the best preparation and the toughest type of training, but sometimes this type of statement puts the other boxer on notice, and that can change the course of things, because it is sending him a message that It's missing a bit and Garcia may be right for now, but that can all change, and now more than ever.
Danny Garcia lost to Spence by decision so that's probably the reason why he is crediting Spence a lot. It's like, he is still a force to reckon with because he lost to the best guy in the division. Though I seldom read nor hear any interviews from Danny Garcia and his twat dad, I did follow his career even before he became a world champion. He and especially his dad always feel they are the center of the boxing world.

The better way to listen to or read an analysis IMO is from Kell Brook and Shawn Porter as both fought Spence and Crawford. Timothy Bradley haven't faced Crawford and Spence but I do like his non biased analysis too. I'll bet all these 3 fighters will probably say Crawford is way way better than Spence if asked between the two.
2694  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Haney vs Kambosos II (Undisputed) on: August 06, 2022, 08:13:19 AM
So far there are only 4 who voted for Kambosos out of 24 that cast their votes in the survey. I am thinking what's the analysis of those 4 Kambosos voters? I voted for Haney due to his skills but I'm also happy if ever Kambosos wins because it means that the fight is not boring.

Betting odds aren't available in the bookie yet. But I am expecting Kambosos to be at a minimum of 3.0. So it may not be worth betting on Haney except for big amounts or picking a decision might also give a decent 1.30 something.

I there anybody here that had a good win streak so far in Arlington Majors? Maybe I can mirror-bet. Cheesy I was winless on the first day. I thought Fnatic had a good run and will beat OG in the second map. And what is wrong with EG. It is their home court and they need to step up. They will drop outside of the top 12 DPC ranking if they cannot perform decently. I'm surprised with Team Aster's performance, they're still undefeated so far.

By the way, are the teams with substitutions allowed to earn DPC points in this tournament?
2696  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [DOTA2] PGL Arlington Major 2022 Prediction Thread on: August 05, 2022, 03:52:35 PM
To be honest, north America was never the brightest in Dota 2, even recently some people said that they are below SEA in term of competitiveness. However, EG previously was still able to compete with EU and CIS team, but after Sumail left, seems like EG never find their best roster composition. They can't even dominate NA anymore, and definitely after losing two games in a row their chance of going to the play-off is very small.
I expect major changes in their roster if they failed to qualify in TI. Although I believe they still can participate in TI. But I also want EG to try something different next season like getting rid of Bulba and Fly and then look for replacements.

SEA always has 3 slots in the majors while NA only has 2. That says it all. But well, at least North America had 1 championship in TI, unlike the other regions. And NA is becoming more competitive again.
2697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 05, 2022, 03:29:06 PM
As much as we love Donaire as he is a sure fire boxing hall of famer, I think moving down to 115 lbs might is seemingly improbable. OF course we can't just say that the should be retiring after that huge knock out lost to Inoue, only him and Rachel could decide for that. However, moving down might not be a good idea, not sure why, but why not going up to 122 lbs?

Anyhow, if this fight happen, I will have him winning by knock out against Ioka, but will be a close one against Chocolatito.

He thinks he still has it, for a great boxer the mind is the last to admit it, but he will soon realize that the body cannot keep up, I just hope it's not too late his body is aging, it's not the same body he has 15 years ago he may have a good chance against Ioka or Chocolatito but time is running out for him, if he really loves boxy he can train young people or do an exhibition fight, the best time to do it is now, let's see in his next fight if this is his last fight or just want to add more title for his legacy.

I agree, again and again, top and great boxers still thinks that they still have it and is going to continue with their careers despite the obvious signs that they are way past their primes already and it the end, them keep fighting might bring more harm that good to them. Its the responslity of his father and Rachel (Nonito's wife and manager), to tell him right into his face that he should consider hanging up his gloves for real. His legacy has been cemented already, there is none to prove if he fight the 2 boxers that he mentioned he love to face.
I don't even know how Donaire can make it into the superfly limit. Seems impossible, but if he can make it then there's also the chance that he becomes champion again. He is old but his power is always his equalizer in the lower divisions. And if he becomes a champion at superfly, that would make him a 5 division champion which is very rare in boxing.

122 can take Donaire's power, this is the division where his prime started to score decisions rather than knockouts. WBA and IBF champion Akhmadaliev will KO Donaire. And WBO and WBC champion Stephen Fulton will school Donaire in 12 rounds.

I hope he retires for good. Maybe he should just start coaching if he still wants to continue his career in boxing.
2698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin become a global currency ? on: August 05, 2022, 03:00:30 PM
Since some nations have recognized bitcoin as legal tender, it is now possible to buy goods and services with selected countries. The majority of people prioritize bitcoin as an investment, so adoption is increasing. However, I don't think that bitcoin will cease to be a global currency after all  some leaders still prefer to use their local currencies because that is what they are used to.
Bitcoin's volatility makes it hard to become a daily currency, especially in small amounts of transactions. But Bitcoin is still a decade-year-old currency and is becoming more popular day by day. The time will come when its price will stabilize.

And Bitcoin becoming a legal tender doesn't mean making local currencies disappear. Bitcoin will become another currency option which is would be great knowing we can use a decentralized currency.

I don't know why Dragic has not signed with the Dallas Mavericks. It's not like he is an expensive player anymore that is hard to acquire. It could be that the Dallas Mavericks' management prefers younger players to complete their roster. Although I still pick Dragic since he is very experienced and can share it with the younger players and his chemistry with Luka would be superb.

Dragic is now officially with the Chicago Bulls. And with young Lonzo Ball and Coby White, that's a team that would probably not give Dragic enough playing time. Dragic will become a mentor in Chicago although they might need him on the floor during playoffs.

Just read the announcement on Bitcasino telegram and Evil Geniuses twitter there will be a giveaway 3 signed jersey
Want to take this opportunity? just follow those 2 accounts and retweet
I never won any of these social media giveaways and I participated in many of them over time which is why I basically treat them like lotteries due to the unfavourable odds.

However, I already participated in this one since I am an eSports fan and I enjoy watching teams like Liquid, EG etc play now and then.
That's pretty cool. I love DOTA 2 and I love EG as well. They are off to a bad start and I really really want them to start winning in their next games in order to secure a slot at The International. I cannot imagine TI without EG.

Maybe @Bitcasino.io Support can reserve us some or at least one signed EG jersey exclusive to bitcointalk participants only. That would be a great remembrance from Bitcasino and EG.  Grin
