2381  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 13, 2022, 06:18:42 AM
MJ was one of the greatest, probably the greatest ever basketball player ever lived, but he is definitely not a good owner at all by the looks of how the team has done since he took over.

It's worth noting that the Hornets have always been the underdog, even when Jordan wasn't the owner and the team was called the Bobcats. They've never won a championship, a conference, and a division. Besides, they've only reached the playoffs 3 times in the last 18 years. So even if Jordan really wants to improve the Hornets' results, he will need to invest a lot more money and time.

Exactly!
There is a huge difference between being a great player and to become a great owner.
There's nothing much an owner can do if there's not enough funds to attract good players in comparison with the well established teams, and good players does not play for a team who's struggling to get to the playoffs and receiving lesser contract.
The Charlotte Hornets needs to have a pick like they did in 96. However, I think they are really terrible in building a good team lol.

Funds are very important when it comes to wanting an NBA team to prosper. Michael Jordan is only valued at over a billion dollars (not bad for an athlete) which isn't that rich compared to the other team owners. Although most of these teams have minority-owner partners too and they are part of the decision-making when it comes to money.

But there are major owners too that aren't that rich just like the Golden State Warriors. The difference is they are too willing to risk hundreds of millions of dollars yearly for the success of their teams. They don't care about their supposed yearly dividends, but they're banking on the value of their teams.

Michael Jordan is a proven successful businessman by growing his money into billions. He might not have a great NBA team but pretty sure he is harvesting millions of dollars yearly. GSW's major owner is banking on its team's value, but what happens 5 to 10 years from now when its superstars are gone? There's the risk of losing the value of his team and not being able to harvest dividends over the years. While Jordan is earning hundreds of millions or even a billion already by that time. But this remains to be seen as to who's the smartest businessman between GSW and Hornets owners. But as to who's the better team, GSW is miles ahead of Charlotte.

Another factor that cannot be missed is their location. There is no doubt that places like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Miami, etc are great cities compared to freezing Toronto and the smaller cities.
2382  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: October 13, 2022, 05:28:03 AM
Are we going to witness a Cinderella story here in TI 2022? Will team Secret be good enough to snatch the Championship from heavily favored teams?
I wouldn't mind a cinderella story but I honestly want to see a favored team like LGD claim the aegis this time. For Team Secret there's always a chance to win but it'll mainly depend on the matchups they get during the playoffs, For now, I see them finishing around the middle at best (maybe 5th-8th) since there are too many good teams from my view that can easily take down Team Secret later on(OG, LGD, Entity, Tundra, Aster).

I have high hopes always on teams that win the wild card or last chance tournaments because these teams is already tuned up for a high pressure games and usually those who qualified first through points are the one who always exit early on the TI.

I believe on Team Liquid that can finish on top spot because they are determined than ever since this is Matu last tournament with the team.

Is Matu retiring? I also think Team Secret has a slim chance of winning, they're too beatable by the top teams. I'll put Team Spirit, LGD, OG, and Entity as my picks to win this TI.

Anyways, I lost most of my bets in this Last Qualifier. I was rooting for VP and T1 as well, but it is what it is. I can't wait for TI to finally begin. And hopefully, I can recover my DOTA 2 losses this year.

So this is it, ladies and gentlemen, the groupings are here. OG and LGD are in the same group A while Team Spirit and Entity are in group B.

2383  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Dmitry Bivol vs Zurdo Ramirez on: October 13, 2022, 04:30:08 AM
Most of us are expecting Bivol to beat Ramirez. So what if Bivol stops Ramirez? Do you guys think that Canelo is brave enough to activate the rematch clause? Or maybe Canelo will ask Bivol to rematch him at 168 which is the more comfortable weight for Canelo?

Depends on what is written on the rematch clause, for sure this might have been included whether 168 or 175 will be the weight in the rematch.
I believe the rematch clause is at 175 otherwise people won't be asking about Bivol's willingness to drop in weight.

If ever Canelo and Bivol had a rematch it is more likely on Bivol's comfortable weight class since it is where the first fight happens.  If both party is eager for that rematch but cannot agree on the weight Division then a possible catch-weight fight might happen.
Yeah, the rematch clause should be at 175. But if Canelo, Matchroom, and DAZN pay more then maybe Bivol would drop to 168 for that and for Canelo's undisputed belts. I guess Bivol won't agree to a catchweight which is the same light-heavyweight division. So it's either 175 or 168 only.

Second scenario is that Canelo will have to wait first until Bivol and Beterbiev will have the undisputed fight as Bivol is not prioritizing Canelo. But it got me thinking, what if Bivol will get the undisputed crown? Will Canelo chase him still? A Bivol-Beterbiev fight is not that too impossible as Bob Arum already said that he'll be willing to give Beterbiev his chance to unify the belts after his title defense against Yarde this January 2023, but with a condition, the fight will be hosted by ESPN and not by Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing.
At this stage of Canelo's career, he is not scared of fighting anyone. He is already the biggest star in this sport. So I think he is very willing to face the challenge of becoming an undisputed champion at 175.

But what remains to be seen here is the expiry of the rematch clause. Was it valid for 1 year only or it could be at a maximum of 2 years? I think it is only good for 1 year or 1 year and 6 months. 2 years is way too long, maybe Bivol is at cruiserweight by that time.
2384  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Naoya Inoue vs Paul Butler - Undisputed Bantamweight Bout - December 13 on: October 13, 2022, 03:32:41 AM
Even though Butler is still strong enough and able to fight but I personally feel that a knockout is still possible and this could also happen very quickly.

Paul Butler may be strong (regardless of his opponent) during his early years as his KO rate in those years is impressive. However, during his last 15 fights since 2016, about 11 of these wins came from decisions that make me believe that his power is now slowly fading where in fact, there are even no big names in those last 15 fights.

Sorry to say that alone is the reason why he doesn't have any chance to win against Inoue. For those saying upset is possible, I don't understand what is the basis to believe that Butler can upset Inoue. There's even more chance to hit a lottery jackpot compare to expecting an upset win by Butler of course if they are both healthy on the day of the fight.

Yes, it is highly unlikely for an upset to happen here. Paul Butler is a world-class fighter but Inoue is a future Hall of Famer. Butler and Inoue had a common opponent in the name of Emmanuel Rodriguez. Emmanuel Rodriguez took the then-vacant IBF belt by taking Butler to school and scoring 2 knockdowns. The following year, Inoue easily obliterated Rodriguez in just 2 rounds, knocking him 3 times. Styles make fights but Butler is not heavy-handed nor faster than Inoue.

Of course, there's always the chance for an upset no matter how small it is. Just like winning a lottery. Grin

2386  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Crawford vs Spence on: October 12, 2022, 10:02:38 AM
I actually moved on from this fight a few weeks ago. Spence is obviously not looking for legacy whereas Crawford continues to hunt for more legacy under his name. It's sad that Crawford wasted a year on this garbage negotiation with Spence and PBC. Crawford is turning 36 next year and he still has work to do in order to achieve his dreams of conquering the super-welterweight divison and becoming a 4-division champion. He should not wait for duck Spence who only cares about his virgin record and money.

I can't wait for the next generation of welterweights. Ortiz, Stanionis, and Ennis deserved their title shots now and it's long overdue already. Let them mix it out together with former undisputed super-lightweight champion Josh Taylor, Keith Thurman, Radzhab Butaev, etc.
2387  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Naoya Inoue vs Paul Butler - Undisputed Bantamweight Bout - December 13 on: October 12, 2022, 09:37:21 AM
Might be better if we are going to look for the KO odds, but not sure what will it be. And then the per rounds and asian cup (which offer better odds if I'm not mistaken).

I still remember that we have discussed about the contract, it is sign already and that we can safe to say that December is really the target date?

Good question, I don't see any update regarding to that matter. Is this fight still possible not to push thru or both camps already
in the signing stage, we are already talking about odds yet we are unsure if the fight will come true.

But if ever that they will meet inside the ring, for Inoue's fans it's best to wait for a much higher odd with a different type of bets
instead of taking that big risk with un-accepted odds.

Just saying though..

I think everything is already set in stone. I haven't heard of contracts signed but both teams and fighters have already accepted the specific fight details. There seems to be no complaint from the camp of Butler that they will be going to Japan for this undisputed match. I guess this is the kind of fight they are looking for. So everything's a done deal already. Odds are also released although still very limited at this point. But as expected Naoya will be a big favorite. Paul Butler's would be as high as 10.00.
Probably this is not yet officially signed but since we aren't hearing any backlash then all details are probably agreed upon. Documents are mostly likely signed when Butler is in Japan.

As for the betting odds, Naoya Inoue is too favorite to win here even if Paul Butler is also a champion. Even an Inoue KO is probably around 1.20 or even below knowing he is a KO artist. Inoue by decision might have high odds but this is very unlikely. The most interesting bet is to guess which round Inoue KOs Butler. But this is also a very very difficult bet to win since Inoue based on his past fights can also last 12 rounds which means he may not rush for a KO and let it come.
2388  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: October 12, 2022, 06:29:26 AM
A few days ago I scrolled through a post about Hasbulla and Khabib Nurmagomedov being part of Islam Makhachev's corner. I thought it was just a joke so I just ignored it. Today I have the time to search for it. Makhachev's manager Ali Abdelaziz confirmed it as per reports from different media outlets. Although I still think it's a joke knowing Ali Abdelaziz knows how to hype and talk trash. But if they are serious, Hasbulla might steal the show between rounds and people will be chanting for him. Cheesy

2389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A painter received $50 worth of bitcoin on June 2013. on: October 12, 2022, 04:48:12 AM
Wow! Great story! Good thing that she is not into cryptocurrency thing or she might withdraw it earlier like most people into investing. I believe blockchain.com offers accounts but under their custody. Many exchanges and email providers are now gone. And she did manage to keep her email and password for nearly a decade. That bitcoin was really meant for her and she deserves it.

I started purchasing bitcoin when it was at 3 digits price but I sold most of them when it reached 4 digits. So now, I am back on the drawing board.
2390  Economy / Gambling / Re: To what extent do you chase anonymity while gambling? on: October 12, 2022, 04:05:45 AM
I am a person that wanted to live a very private life. Decentralized gambling sites that aren't into KYC fit me well. But it doesn't mean that I am not also willing to do KYC when super necessary. It's not that I like KYC but I did a lot of it here in my country since I have bank accounts and I use some apps that are also very important here. So generally I am not totally against KYC. But I prefer gambling sites that aren't forcing KYC. We have a lot of reliable gambling sites here to choose.
2391  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for October on: October 12, 2022, 03:07:47 AM
For now, I made the tie-breaker between sideways and down. I also haven't tried analyzing the charts for weeks now. I voted down because October and November 2022 according to my earlier predictions, these two months will provide the lowest price of bitcoin. That is why I will start buying back this coming December whether it is up, moving sideways, or down. Most people that have bitcoins or are interested in it know that 2023 is the year before the halving so many will start investing again. Mid or late 2023 should be bullish again. Of course, the world situation will have its own impact on the market. There are more adoptions coming up, no doubt about this. The world order if it continues to be like this will somehow urge people to admire bitcoin and decentralization to keep away from dirty politics.

So my prediction at the end of the month should be between $15k to $17k.
2392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2024 Bitcoin Halving - What are Your Expectations!!! on: October 11, 2022, 10:20:54 AM
Wow! By reading this and despite the current market situation, I felt the excitement for the things to come. Not realizing that I'll be two to three years older by then. Anyways, many of us must have buyback plans already. My plan is to DCA probably starting in December up to June or July next year. I really hope everything's going to be smooth. I can't wait for Bitcoin to reach $100,000 to $150,000 or even beyond that price.

And I wonder how many countries by that time will fully accept Bitcoin as a legitimate currency. El Salvador's investments and its decision to legalize Bitcoin as a currency will finally be proven to be successful by then.
2393  Economy / Economics / Re: How to save as food inflation jumps more than 11% in a year on: October 11, 2022, 09:39:30 AM
Great tips. And I am actually doing them all. Another thing we did at home is we plant some manageable kinds of stuff like vegetables and fruits in front and at the back of our house. And I live in a small lot only with like 15 to 20 square meters of space. It first started when I stopped my plan to make a terrace in front of our house due to these hard times. One time while eating a sweet watermelon, I threw its seeds in front of our house. I didn't expect for it to grow up so we take care of it. To make it short, we harvested 9 big sweet watermelons before the plant died. Because of that incident, we already planted pumpkins, bitter gourds, chili plants, and many more that are not demanding of space.
2394  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bangladesh has blocked 331 online casinos on: October 11, 2022, 08:45:08 AM
That's quite a lot of online casinos being blocked. And Stake is one of them. So I assume the Bangladeshi government is now starting to impose its law, especially into cryptocurrencies where they have really no control due to their decentralized nature. I won't be surprised if more things will follow like businesses accepting bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as modes of payment. I think it was a couple of months ago, a Bangladeshi with a business started to accept cryptocurrencies as payments for his goods.

Anyways, as long as Bangladesh isn't against cryptocurrencies, it will be alright. It's just normal for governments to impose their laws, especially in cases like money laundering.
2395  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Double Unification Fights: Shields vs Marshall / Mayer vs Baumgardner on: October 11, 2022, 07:22:50 AM
So this doubleheader finally takes place this weekend. We have a lot of great fights this weekend. We have the rematch for the undisputed belts between Devin Haney and George Kambosos, the return of Deontay Wilder against Robert Helenius, and this double unification fight between the hottest women in boxing. I honestly prefer this event since these are the more intriguing fights; 4 champions and 3 of them are undefeated and all of them are in bad blood with each other.

To those interested in this event. Here is the trailer: https://boxing-videos.com/shields-vs-marshall-mayer-vs-baumgardner-official-trailer-biggest-womens-boxing-event-is-back.
2396  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 11, 2022, 04:28:06 AM
I know Green already realized what he did wrong. He apologized to Poole already. That's the start of forming much-good chemistry between him and Poole.
Hopefully, their old way of interventing to each other is back. But I guess there's already a stain and it's not that quick to be gone. Well, as for Draymond's status.

Stephen Smith said that Green wants to play for the Lakers. This news is out just a few hours ago.

News: https://lakeshowlife.com/2022/10/10/draymond-green-wants-join-lakers-stephen-smith/

Yes. There is still a high possibility that their chemistry will be restored as before but as you mentioned, there's a stain already and we will see how it goes from here.

After the incident, I also heard a lot of rumors about Draymond Green getting shipped. Early this morning I was scrolling through some news and I saw a post with Jimmy Butler mentioning that Miami Heat's defense will be different if Green joins them. And there is also Green wearing a Dallas Mavericks jersey. Maybe some teams are now starting to offer the Warriors for Green.
2397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 11, 2022, 03:53:05 AM
I haven't seen this discussed but I was waiting for this fight this weekend until it got postponed:

Quote

Eubank Jr. vs Benn boxing bout canceled due to drug test failure

Former IBO boxing champion Chris Eubank Jr. was set for a generational grudge match against Conor Benn on Saturday October 8th, but the fight has been scrapped at the last minute.

https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2022/10/7/23393236/boxing-drug-test-scandal-conor-benn-vs-chris-eubank-jr-cancelled-fight-news

Unfortunately, this legacy fight is cancelled because Eubank jr has been tested positive for a ban substance. And so the BBBoC has to issue and order stopping the fight. Although Matchroom and Eddie Hearn thinks that they will go and continue to his fight as unsanctioned, they just decided to postponed it for now.

I am actually glad that his fight had been canceled. I'm glad Hearn and DAZN didn't force this event to go through. I think Connor has a lot of confidence and guts but he is too small for the former super-middleweight contender. Another thing is the wide difference when it comes to experience. Chris failed to become a legit world champion but he got too much world-class experience while Connor is only an unproven prospect. Their catchweight was 157 which is only 3 pounds south of Chris' weight while 10 pounds above Connor's.

And a little correction mate. It was Connor Benn who got caught with an illegal substance in his body.

I only have a single bet remaining on Polaris against Wildcard which I assume is a safe bet.

I am pretty excited if you will post here again for the games tomorrow. Pretty tough games again. I like T1 and VP, to be honest. They seemed more capable of executing quick adjustments in their games. And I want to see Ana and Topson again at TI.
2399  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Dmitry Bivol vs Zurdo Ramirez on: October 10, 2022, 09:50:07 AM

Yes, Canelo and Hearn doesn't have much choice but to agree with Bivol's decision as he already earned the right to demand in case a rematch will happen even if the fight will be contested at 168 pounds. But before that, we know Canelo's camp are still observing what will happen on Bivol's upcoming match as that will determine if they will activate the rematch or not. We will know about it more soon, just like what you've said.

Agree to that, Canelo's camp might change direction once Bivol got upset with Ramirez. As far as I remember, he said that he's not willing to fight to any of his countrymen, but the chance of seeing a rematch is possible. Pride and money I guess Alvarez knew that if the rematch takes place, his fans will surely support him and it will generate a decent amount of money.

Win or lose both fighters will be secured by huge amount, but like what we mostly said, Bivol will be wiser now.

He's the belt holder if, in case he also beats Ramirez, money should be flowing for him this time.

After Ramirez, there's only the Beterbiev-Bivol undisputed fight that is supposed to happen at 175. Other than Beterbiev which is difficult to negotiate due to its different promoter and network, pretty sure small Bivol would be willing to drop to 168 for more money and the chance to become undisputed if this is the weight Canelo wants for the rematch.
2400  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Fernando Martinez vs Jerwin Ancajas rematch - Oct.8 on: October 10, 2022, 09:30:10 AM
I always have doubts about a rematch when the first match is dominated by one fighter rematch should be when the decision could go either way, the first match Martinez totally dominated Ancajas the margin on the scorecard is too big, this second match is just a continuation of he first match, Ancajas is good on the first three rounds but after that Martinez takes over and still the same scenario, Ancajas show nothing knew and he comes out with the same alibi that has a hard time in his weight.

The rematch only happened because Ancajas got a rematch clause on their first fight contract. Team Ancajas supposedly planned to move up in weight after the first defeat but they changed their decision and went on to activate their rematch clause. They thought they can win and then move up in weight as a champion for better rankings.

Ancajas was a changed fighter. He's not supposed to fight like that. Or perhaps Martinez's style is just bad for him. Nevertheless, Ancajas didn't let his hands go and was always reluctant.

Well-deserved win by Martinez. Now that the IBF strap is outside of PBC, perhaps Estrada, Martinez, Bam, and Chocolatito can mix it up to finally unify the belts thru DAZN.
