2701  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Man Collapses after Allegedly Losing a $400 Loan at a Betting Shop on: August 05, 2022, 01:49:32 PM
Another one that learned the hard way. Because the reality is there is no such thing as easy money. Gambling winnings may look easy but there is a huge risk too. The money we bet is the hard-earned money and in gambling, we may lose or win, there are no guarantees. I may tell a friend to gamble but only if that person is financially and mentally stable. There are people that have a revenge attitude when losing a bet, and that's not a good trait of a responsible gambler.
2702  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Teofimo Lopez vs Pedro Campa - Aug 13 on: August 04, 2022, 05:12:32 PM
Well, it's for promotional purposes. Most of them will only show basic routines. Although it also depends on confidence, I won't be surprised if Teofimo will not care which sessions are recorded and will go for public consumption even before the fight due to his arrogance. And Teofimo is also fighting a no-named opponent and he might have underestimated Campa here. But there's also the possibility that the sessions shown are meant to mislead the other camp.

Hehehe, it seems that he hasn't change a bit though, still arrogant and brandish, specially his Father. We will hear another excsuses if he losses this one.
I would really love to see Teofimo losing again, much better if by knockout. Cheesy That would silence the hype on him including his annoying dad.

the date of the bout will be next weekend. one sided odds to begin with and having just $20 to bet is not satisfying enough to bet for Teo to win.

Lopez, Teofimo 1.04
Campa, Pedro  8.80
If I'm going to pick a bet, i'd rather take a small bet on Campa.

The bad thing about cherry-picking or fighting a nobody is it affects the betting odds huge discrepancy. How I wish tune-ups like this are only shown as undercards on championship fights. This should be an undercard in Australia's Haney-Kambosos rematch.
2703  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you stop gamble if your girl friend insists ? on: August 04, 2022, 02:02:09 PM
At present, I say I am struggling with my finances. But I still continue gambling, although with certain limitations. Gambling is part of my life and I understand how it works. Now if my girlfriend would asks me to stop gambling, I prefer to convince her first that it is not affecting my daily life and I'm doing it minimally. I might listen and comply if her reasoning to stop gambling is logical but if it's based on certain beliefs then most likely I will not stop gambling.
2704  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: August 03, 2022, 03:55:18 PM
Amanda Nunes' was on crutches during the post-fight conference. I was surprised her face was badly busted too especially one of her eyes. It was a dominating win but I disagree that she could've finished Julianna but preferred to go full five rounds to prove she's better. It's pretty clear that Amanda fought smart and was careful in the first two rounds. She only started with her aggressive takedowns when Julianna was diminished and with a bloodied face. She cannot stop Julianna. And I agree with Belal Muhammad that Amanda was just being arrogant with her talking. I hope Shevchenko is really next in order to settle their controversial past.
2705  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 03, 2022, 03:10:04 PM

They need to develop Robinson's defense because he can really help with his good 3 point shooting. Miami Heat is known to be a defensive team but if they don't have a good outside shooter, their offense will also struggle as they become more predictable.

They've been in the playoffs for years right now and they also have the chance to compete in the NBA finals without LBJ and Wade. That only means they could really be a competent team to win a championship without those two-star players but they really need to fix their offense especially when their three-pointer guys do not work especially in the playoff games where it is crucial every shot they made. I'm sure coach Spoelstra already figured it out that's why they are adding some new capable players to their roosters to fill that positions.

Duncan Robinson failed its expectations of becoming Miami's version of Splash brothers together with Tyler Herro. He obviously needs to work with his defense and including his offense too. He is a trading piece for Miami Heat but the problem is his salary which is too high and it will be difficult to find a trade partner without risking other players or future draft picks.

The Miami Heat cannot reach the eastern conference this season without roster changes. They lost P.J. Tucker and they gained nothing so far except that they are possible to take KD and Mitchell.
2706  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Crawford vs Spence on: August 03, 2022, 02:52:37 PM
Yes, it seems that Crawford is stalling the fight? Or the other way other?
It is so difficult to blame Crawford for stalling this fight. I'll try to remember all the stuff since the boogeyman entered the welterweight division. It's always Crawford doing the challenging.

1. When Crawford was then the undisputed champion at super-lightweight he said he will move up and will take Spence's IBF welterweight belt. Spence told Crawford to get a belt at welterweight first.

2. Crawford arrived in the welterweight division and became champion. He and Bob Arum were already talking openly that they wanted Spence. Did you guys heard any tweets or interviews on Spence or even with his handler PBC challenging Crawford?

3. There was a certain event wherein Crawford personally approached Spence. Who's challenging for a fight? Who's challenging for a million-dollar beat? Spence mentioned names to fight like Mikey Garcia, Porter, and Thurman. And I love how Crawford tells him he missed mentioning his name. It's clear as day that Crawford was too confident, he was laughing and was always staring at Spence. Spence on the other hand seemed uncomfortable and was like faking his smile. Spence seemed scared and was like hoping to get out of the situation.

4. Crawford and Bob Arum were trying to negotiate and were very open in the public about it. Later Bob Arum was mad because there was no response on their offers nor counter offers from PBC.

5. Spence was in the building during Crawford's last fight against Porter. People were expecting him to climb the ring after the fight and set a direct challenge to the winner. Spence already beat Porter but in a controversial split decision. On the other hand, the boogeyman demolished Porter for the first time and sent him into retirement. Spence immediately left the building after the fight was stopped and was booed by the fans. Spence probably expected Porter to win or at least made the fight close, but there is no escaping once the boogeyman starts to figure out its opponent. So basically it really seems that Spence is avoiding and is scared to even face or talk or look Bud in the eye.

6. Crawford is inactive for nearly a year already. Because PBC, Showtime, and probably including Mayweather saying it's about time to make the Spence fight.

7. Crawford is turning 35 this October.

Kell Brook and Shaw Porter were the common opponents both stars already faced. Spence struggled against both fighters while Crawford dismantled them.
2707  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: August 03, 2022, 01:59:34 PM

Undecided sino raw mas maganda stats Giannis, Jokic or Luka.
2708  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Teofimo Lopez vs Pedro Campa - Aug 13 on: August 03, 2022, 01:37:58 PM
-snip-
Based on this, it seems Lopez work out is better than Campa. All of Campa training is about how to punch just like common boxing exercise, while Lopez train his body, footwork, improving his agility and also improving his reflect. Lopez will have better experience and skills than just punching, it's very needed in modern boxing where you're not only relying about your punch power alone.
Well, it's for promotional purposes. Most of them will only show basic routines. Although it also depends on confidence, I won't be surprised if Teofimo will not care which sessions are recorded and will go for public consumption even before the fight due to his arrogance. One more day before PGL Arlington Major starts. I feel bad for Fnatic. They are yet to officially announce their needed 3-player stand-ins.

Another thing. I was surprised to see a new name representing North America. Did Quincy Crew disband or did they just rename it into Soniqs since all players are the same? I already forgot Valve's ruling on players leaving for another team. There are a lot of stand-ins in this last major and I can't wait to see how it works.
2710  Economy / Economics / Re: Singapore to unveil plans to becoming a Bitcoin hub on: August 01, 2022, 01:52:29 PM
It is very possible for Singapore to become a major bitcoin hub because they are highly developed and they seem to have everything in places like a huge airport that connects to nearly every place around the world, fast internet, and it's also one of the top financial hubs in the world.

There's still a huge difference between El Salvador and Singapore. El Salvador though not economically rich, it officially recognized bitcoin as a legal tender making it a very healthy nation for bitcoin investors and believers.

2711  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you look down on Bushy or undeveloped areas? on: August 01, 2022, 01:23:32 PM
You will never underestimate the value of land no matter how bushy or underdeveloped they are. This is one of my regrets. I had the chance to purchase underdeveloped lands in various places in my country but I didn't and stick to investing a big part of my saving into stocks and foreign currencies. Now comes the pandemic, and most of those investments lost their values, especially my stocks were down to as low as 50% to 80%.

Now I am planning to sell my house here in a metro city and relocate to a cheap rural area to start a farm and invest some of the proceeds in crypto too.
2712  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Fernando Martinez vs Jerwin Ancajas rematch - Oct.8 on: August 01, 2022, 12:24:15 PM
There are too many good names in the division for so many years and it is sad that Jerwin never fought at least one of them. People thought it was Bob Arum's fault but then it is a fact that Jerwin now with Al Haymon still fought zero big names in the division.
I just this lost derailed what might have been big fights being set on him by PBC, like Roman "Chocolatito", Estrada or Ioka.
Maybe the problem there is that all the big names in the division are fighting in DAZN. It was fun seeing Chocolatito, Estrada, Rungvisai, and Cuadras facing each other. Poor Ancajas was left behind. Cheesy And then lost his belt to a nobody. So I'm hoping for him to retake that belt once again. Then he can try to challenge the big names in the division or move up in weight.

However, is Ancajas really ready for this rematch? I don't know what kind of adjustment he will do but I will trust his camp to do their very best to make Ancajas fit and 100% prepared for this rematch. They should learn from the first fight.
I think Ancajas is more than ready. He only needs to fight the way he is. He should stop trying to impress the fans by trading bombs because that's not him. Ancajas is a safety-first fighter and that's his specialty, he better sticks to it if he wants to become champion again.
2713  Other / Archival / Re: Most crypto-friendly economies in the world on: August 01, 2022, 11:57:55 AM
The source has zero to low data in Latin America, Africa, many parts of eastern Europe, and most of Asia though. So it's more like a ranking of the most crypto-friendly countries in the west and some few countries on other continents. And who will miss El Salvador and the Central African Republic? These two countries would probably top in a world ranking considering both countries already recognized bitcoin as a currency.
2714  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Crawford vs Spence on: July 31, 2022, 01:59:32 PM
And I speculate that if the fight is not going to push, this 2022, Spence will move to 154 lbs, and that will be a bitch move from him.
Well, if I'm Spence and I'm not fighting Crawford next, I'll probably take Thurman or a tune-up in 154 to get a rank.

Thurman is not the same fighter anymore since becoming inactive. And this is still a mega fight that is very winnable for Spence. After this, Spence will need to move up to 154 or he will face mandatories against very dangerous young up comers especially the undefeated Vergil Ortiz and Boots Ennis.

Spence is already 32 years old and he is only a 1 division champion, although a 3-belt unified champion, he is not the lineal and Ring champion. If he cares about entering the Hall of Fame, he needs at least 3 divisions, or maybe 2 is enough if he becomes undisputed, or at least he gets a Ring belt. News is that 154 undisputed champion Jermell Charlo a very close friend of Spence will move up to 160 after his mandatory fight with Tim Tszyu. But unlike WBO champions that are privileged to have rights to become mandatories in other divisions WBO champions, Spence will need to fight to get a rank at 154 and get qualified to fight the soon vacant belts unless they can do an under-the-table negotiation.
2715  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Haney vs Kambosos II (Undisputed) on: July 31, 2022, 12:45:55 PM
I'm confused about who to vote for, of course I don't want to give wishful thinking and Haney is really the favorite for the upcoming fight, but it's obvious that Kambosos understands this and his team will make really effective changes during the preparation for the fight.

I voted for Haney to win by decision. You will not be able to see the picks of our fellow bitcointalk boxing fans then if you will not cast your vote. Cheesy

I get your point though. Kambosos know that he will not have a chance in this rematch if he will not make major adjustments. Kambosos have to risk everything including getting hit by solid counters because he needs to be the aggressor. And he should let his hands go by throwing combinations after combinations. Maybe Kambosos might pull the upset if he can throw combinations throughout the whole 12 rounds. He's got the work ethic so I'm pretty sure he's got the stamina. And as for Haney. He will continue to fight smart. Expect Haney to box and then hug and dance if Kambosos will throw many combinations per round.
2716  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 31, 2022, 11:52:58 AM
I like the nickname though, Doberman, sounds like terrifying. And he did live up to his monicker, his opponent didn't see the punch coming and got knock out. It was really fast and was kind of deceiving, you never thought that he had that kind of power.

So he becomes the lone PH champion for now. But definitely he will be not the last as Filipino is known to produce great boxers and then become elite in a world level, becoming a champion. And who knows, not the level of Manny Pacquiao, but at least won the belt and get the other organizations belt under him.
Sanman is my favorite local promotion and I am not trying to discredit Dave Apolinario's knockout victory in South Africa but IBO is not a major or legit world title. It is only WBA (regular belt becomes invalid when there's a super WBA champion), WBC, IBF, and WBO as sanctioning organizations. And we have another 2 non-sanction organizations but the most highly coveted and rarely awarded, The Ring belt and the recognized lineal champions by TBRB (Transnational Boxing Rankings Board founded when The Ring was purchased by Golden Boy Promotions to prevent conflict of interest). I do hope Apolinario's big victory will further climb his world rankings in order to fight for a real belt.

Anyone who also have the idea about upcoming fights involving PH boxers? Do we have upcoming titles match? Or those previously PH champions that recently lose on their respective match this year will need to start from the bottom and climb up ranks?
Ex-champion Jerwin Ancajas will have his chance to retake his IBF belt from Fernando Martinez in October this year. I really believe that Ancajas can win if he fights smartly. Another ex-champion Marlon Tapales is probably the next to fight for a world title as he is ranked number 1 by the IBF in the super-bantamweight division.
2717  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: July 31, 2022, 11:02:38 AM
And it's not true that Nate Diaz won't have another opportunity if he doesn't accept the match up with Chimaev.  The UFC is obligated to offer three fights per year, or how many fights left in his contract, to each fighter or else the UFC pays the fighter for a missed obligation.  What Nate Diaz is actually missing out on is the trilogy vs Conor McGregor.  He should have waited instead of signing up for Chimaev.
No more waiting for him, I am sure that Diaz wont get any more chances because he begged Dana White and UFC for a long time to give him any fight.
Dana is slowly getting rid o older fighters and both Diaz brothers always had bad communication with Dana, until they smoke couple of joints  Grin
It's not bad to smoke marijuana compared to Dana White who is taking cocaine for some time.

Nate Diaz doesn't care who he fights.  He just wants out of his contract.  Dana is sticking it to him with this matchup, but I don't think Nate cares.  He wants to go out in a blaze of glory and then beat down Jake Paul in the boxing ring.  I wonder if this is going to start being the norm for the UFC...  When someone wants out of their contract Dana will just set them up to get destroyed by his best fighters...  Seems a bit harsh, but I believe that's what we're seeing here.  I think Diaz is going to have his hands full with this one, but in the UFC anything can happen.  I hope the best for him.
Exactly. Nate Diaz can either accept Dana's harsh offer or say no and remain under contract with UFC. Nate can choose the latter but if he's got bigger offers outside the UFC then he gotta accept Dana's offer. It's been noted before that Nate is one of Jake Paul's targeted opponents which will pay him millions of dollars.

In today's undercards, Popeyes Fried Chicken, Derrick Lewis was stopped in less than a minute by Sergei Pavlovich. The main event was unbelievable. It was a focused and smart Amanda Nunes that entered the octagon. I was really hoping for Julianna not to touch gloves and stop being friendly before and after the bells in order to possibly shatter Amanda's focus and smart approach. Amanda was playing smart and was reluctant in the first 2 rounds but when she saw a blooded Julianna, she regained confidence and started her usual takedowns. Still hats off to Julianna, blooded and was knockdown several times but was never seriously hurt. I want to see Nunes and Shevchenko do it again.
2718  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 31, 2022, 10:42:22 AM
So the Brooklyn Nets is demanding more returns on a KD trade not just because the Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs received a lot of pieces from their Rudy Gobert and Dejounte Murray trades but because it is still hoping to keep Durant. But I don't think KD will want to stay in Brooklyn with Irving and Simmons. Brooklyn should prioritize trading these 2 drama queens and maybe KD will want to stay with them.
2719  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Crawford vs Spence on: July 31, 2022, 10:16:23 AM
At least there is some optimism coming from Stephen Espinoza, The head of Showtime Boxing

Quote
“I think in most negotiations that go on for a while, they have a lifespan of ups and downs. I don’t think it’s dead or close to dead. I think there are points where things are moving more quickly, points where things are sort of stuck at an impasse. And we’re a little bit stuck, but I don’t think anyone is ready to throw in the towel, least of all the two fighters.”

https://www.boxingscene.com/showtime-head-optimistic-about-spence-crawford-i-think-anyone-ready-throw-towel--167980

And as what we have been discussing for the past couple of days, maybe there were points that already been agree, like the purse split, Spence getting the big share as he is the A side on this fight because of his PPV numbers in his recent fight, or maybe the venue has been agreed upon.

So let's still remain positive that time fight or at least the negotiations are still alive as per Showtime and they are working to have this fight made.

This is bad news. They just said earlier that a deal is already very close. So the latest update of Showtime's Stephen Espinoza means the negotiations hit a stumbling block. So the fight is definitely not happening in August, October, and then November and I believe not even this year. It seems that Spence and even PBC and Showtime are stalling this in order to buy more time. So one year of inactivity and a 35-year-old Crawford is not enough for Spence to grow some balls? Fuck this, If I were Crawford I will start seeking the next best options and move on, he already mentioned it many years before that Spence will never fight him and so far it is true.
2720  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Teofimo Lopez vs Pedro Campa - Aug 13 on: July 31, 2022, 09:42:37 AM
So I'm the only one who voted for Campa to win? Cheesy Anyway, I only voted for Campa because I want arrogant Teofimo to lose. My mind though says Teofimo will stop Campa, probably in the middle rounds.

I have added a poll for you guys to vote on this fight.

Although this is not as huge as Lopez other fight, this is going to be an intriguing match because as you guys have said, this is Lopez first test in this new weight division. And he could give a impressive showing here, then give it as a signal that he is back and then will go to "Takeover" this division.

And for those who are not aware of his condition in the George Kambosos fight:

Quote
According to Lopez's medical records, the 24-year-old former undisputed champion was diagnosed with "pneumomediastinum" with "extensive air in the retropharyngeal space" by emergency room doctors during his postfight visit to Bellevue Hospital.

"The air was surrounding his chest wall and his heart and his neck -- places where air is not supposed to be," said Dahl, who worked as a ringside physician for the New York State Athletic Commission. "If he was hit in the neck or the chest -- a certain way, in a certain place -- he could have developed a pneumothorax [collapsed lung]. ... He would have instantly been down and unable to breathe and needing a chest tube."

https://www.espn.ph/boxing/story/_/id/32785972/doctor-says-teofimo-lopez-lucky-not-dead-boxer-found-fought-air-chest

Yes, this news circulated after Teofimo's defeat to Kambosos. But it didn't get too much attention due to Teofimo's arrogant behavior. My bad, I was one of those who reacted with a laughing emoticon when the news came out on Twitter and Facebook.
