You have an irresponsible friend right there. Greedy and not caring about other people by taking a loan and recklessly invested in into something not secure. Did your friend trade the loan proceeds in futures trading? I'd been a victim of this a few years ago from old friends who took my money without paying me until now as if nothing happened. So personally, I would stay away from people like your friend. Single or with a family, the rules don't change when it comes to investing. Only invest an amount that we can afford to lose. This is very basic and anybody with a common sense knows this simple basic rules of investing.

Many are pretty much amazed at what Volkanovski is doing performing as an escape artist and he even was talking to Islam Makhachev when he was on his back like it was nothing to me many are well-known about how dominating Islam Makhachev is, but seeing how easily Alexander Volkanovski escapes him this kind of show that the boa constrictor was exposed with his ground submission,

The battle was really very close, in such battles it is very difficult to give an advantage to one of the fighters, but as they say in such cases, if you are a preetindent for the title, then you should be much better than the champion, to give you victory.

Therefore, the victory of Makhachev may not be as confidient as many would like, but still deserved. Maybe Volkanovsky was a little better in the rack, but Makhachev was better in wrestling. I saw that many people write that the Volk won, but I repeat, there was no convincing advantage, none of the fighters. I don’t even know if I would like to see the revenge match, or not, I assume that it will pass approximately the same.

But why are you not interested in a rematch between Volk and Makachev? Rematch is best staged when both protagonists made a very close fight which made it somehow controversial as the winner could've gone to any of them.

Although I do think that Volk is just too small at lightweight. Although it is not popular, maybe a catchweight at 153 will make the rematch more interesting. Volk won't stay in the division if he becomes a champ anyways.

I also wonder how judges score when someone was in a dominating position on the ground yet unable to threaten a submission. Isn't just like an aggressor in a stand-up position showing ring generalship by controlling the ring and the fight making its opponent back pedaling and in defensive mode but not able to deliver a huge blow?
1763  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco - May 20 on: February 13, 2023, 02:17:47 PM
The division is getting hotter with the arrival of 2 division champion Shakur Stevenson who is also promoted by Bob Arum. I guess Shakur is getting his title shot this year unless Haney can insert a rematch clause and losses to Loma. If Haney will win, I really want him to fight Shakur but most likely he is moving up in weight. Haney was already struggling to make the weight in the rematch with Kambosos but he cannot say no to a past prime Loma who is a big name, a future HOFer and looked beatable in his last fight.

I also have a feeling that Haney's contract with TR ends after the Loma fight. There's a huge chance that Haney will go back to Matchroom where he was first given an opportunity and knowing how deep DAZN's budget is compared to that of ESPN and Showtime. Although the biggest names at super lightweight were from TR except for Prograis. Nonetheless, I am still rooting for my man Loma despite looking past his prime who is already in his mid-30s.
1764  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can we experience $80k this year? on: February 13, 2023, 01:57:18 PM
While it is already mission impossible for bitcoin to reach $80k this year, I might get convinced if a proper analysis as to why the price will increase that high this year alone. The absence of analysis from OP makes that $80k prediction of bitcoin price more of a wishful thinking. It might not even reach that high in the halving year which is next year already. Next bitcoin ATH will be in the following year of the halving as what we observed in the past. Bitcoin reaching in trillion market cap will surely slowdown its growth as well.

Many times the mission impossible has become possible with bitcoin. Just like before when it was not believed that it would be 1300$, it suddenly happened and after it was passed, the community level of bitcoin suddenly increased, then it became 20k$ until it reached close to 80k$ or more.

A lot of people did not expect the value of bitcoin to be like that, then it dropped again at 20k$+, which means that if such impossible things happen, the impossible can happen again in the future and even more.

But those amounts happened during the halving years and the next year of the halvings which are the ATH makers before bitcoin goes into correction again. But $80k before the halving year seems like a mission impossible for me. $80k is only possible in the years 2024 and 2025 if we are to look at the history of bitcoin prices. Of course, there are no guarantees as always but I bet $80k won't happen this year. That's just too early. I even doubt we can reach $50k this year. My early assumption is $35k to $40k is the highest price of bitcoin this year.
1765  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: February 13, 2023, 01:35:18 PM
Right, and for those who haven't seen the fight, here are the highlights of the fight:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voIiJWRqSJk

As I have said, you can see how slick the style of Foster is, typical African-American stance made famous by Floyd, the Philly shell. And it's hard to crack it, only few boxers have known how to fight against that stance.

Yes, and again, with this lost by Vargas, it's more intriguing the Magsayo vs Figueroa outcome. And both have seen what happen to Vargas and they know that he will go down to their weight class to insert him name. Nevertheless he is the current champion so both will have no choice but to fight Vargas.
Foster has a same reach like Vargas, so Vargas can't use his reach advantage like when he was fight Magsayo. Magsayo is very hard to reach Vargas since his hand is shorter, Vargas can easily duck it. I think Vargas is to late to change his stance, he always got punched in his right face, until sixth or seventh round he's realized about that.

If Magsayo will have a rematch with Vargas, it's better for him to being more aggressive and quick rather than looking to knocking out Vargas.

So Vargas will most likely defend his belt to the Magsayo-Figueroa winner. A few hours ago I rewatched some of Figueroa's fights. The Fulton-Figueroa war was so close and those 2 judges that had it 116-112 need their eyes checked. This time I had it 6-6 or 114-114 a draw. Punch stats was one-sided and favored Figueroa. I really hope Magsayo improved a lot, especially on his stamina and inside fighting which I doubt to happen in just a few months of training. Figueroa is not good defensively but his chin is so tough at least in his old division. So it is either Magsayo will catch him early or Figueroa can take Magsayo's best punches and starts to make the fight a brawl and wins a stoppage in the 2nd half of the fight.

I still favor Vargas winning over Magsayo or Figueroa though. I think his first defeat will make him more of a technical fighter and Figueroa and Magsayo aren't that good at their defense.
1766  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading addiction, are you coping? on: February 13, 2023, 01:15:42 PM
There was a time when I always want to have a buy and sell daily. Luckily for me, I am not much into futures since I felt like I am more enjoying the traditional spot trades. So I did a lot of daily trades although some of them are into my local stock market. I lost thousands of dollars at that time, but I cannot imagine if I was doing it on futures, I would've lost all my assets. And as most people do, I also learned the hard way. There's a lot of fun stuff to do in this world so diverting is not that hard to do and I was able to stop myself from trading for a while.
I do have some investment in our local stock market, when it comes in trading there it is much safer to hold their especially if we know that those stocks are from top companies however it will take more time unlike in crypto which will require us to focus on trading that can cause addiction since the price is moving too fast and the market is too volatile so we must be attentive in what's happening in the market since many altcoins are prone to be a scam when they walk out. As long as we know the project were investing it will lessen our problems to be involved in having addiction.
Yes, our local stock market is safer if we stick to the stocks owned by the top companies. But I did try those low market cap stocks and they are just the same as the altcoin market in crypto. I even purchased DITO at P17 and if I am right, it is now trading at P2. I have no updates anymore after deleting the Investa app. I still have around 15 stocks there. My plan is to transfer them to crypto this year or next year if our local stock market won't improve.

There was a time when I always want to have a buy and sell daily. Luckily for me, I am not much into futures since I felt like I am more enjoying the traditional spot trades. Being addicted with trading on spot is really better to me, but being addicted to trading on futures is when their is always problem, when I started learning how to trade I started on spot trading, but later I discovered futures and I gave it a trial, I noticed with just little money, I was making reasonable amount of money and I was enjoying it, I was gradually getting addicted to future trading, then I started losing, but it was kind of difficult for me to stop it because of the high profit that's in future trading, to cut the long story short, I moved all the money in my spot wallet to futures and I wasted all the money on future's, but since then I haven't tried future trading again.
Futures is probably the worst when it comes to a trade addict as our capital can get to zero within a few minutes. I also tried it there before but I haven't experienced losing big amounts.  It's nearly a year now since trading futures. Hopefully, I won't get tempted again especially when the market seems bullish but still unpredictable.
1767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Excessive greed is detrimental to investment on: February 13, 2023, 12:51:55 PM
The main cause of failure and losing money is greed if a person get some amount of money then he desires to have more money than this. So in this situations he put the whole money again in trading so if the market goes dump he will loss all of his money.

Now the market is not stable so there is a hope that market will go more increase in coming months so holding of particular coin will give you more successful results.

If a person get profit then do not wait for this profit to increase even more because market is not trustable and its value does not remain the same.

Greedy behavior does not sound good  so sell whenever you have profit and do not put excessive money in same coin as a result of greed.

Most of us will learn the hard though when it comes to trading and investing. I was nearly a dollar millionaire last 2017 but then I was unreasonably greedy that I still do not want to touch most of my crypto holdings because I thought the next step was to become a dollar millionaire. So when the market was bleeding in the following year, I was losing some sleep and was stressed so I sold 99% of my crypto investments. I sold it at the lowest point of the market and the only crypto left to me were the dusts in my wallets. Maybe greed is not that bad but there should be some limitations. Investment diversification is one thing I learned that is so important. I could've invested part of my earning outside crypto to protect my assets but I was just so greedy and was out of my mind.

Are you seeking answers on how to spread bitcoin in your local community? Since you do not know yet, I guess it also means that you are not ready.  Are you still new to bitcoin? If yes, just spend more time learning about bitcoin, its technology and features, how to keep bitcoins safe, and understand the basics of investing. Make yourself fully equipped with the knowledge and at the same time experience. You will feel it when you are ready to spread bitcoin knowledge in your community. Hopefully, you will do it for free. I hate it when some people are trying to exploit the innocents by telling them about the potential to earn big by investing in bitcoin but asking fees for their services on how to do it.

1771  Economy / Speculation / Re: will bitcoin go back to 19000 on: February 10, 2023, 01:53:34 PM
We will see. All forecasts and analyses aimed to predict the next bitcoin movements but the truth is they aren't perfect either. But it is actually common for a big movement to always have corrections just like what happened when bitcoin all of a sudden dropped from $20k to $15k. What I just see here is bitcoin might not touch that $15k level again. But $19k is still very possible, that's just near to the current price, and since we are still far from that halving date. I loosen myself from the stress of daily trading by just doing the DCA on bitcoin. So I am actually happy if bitcoin drops a little since my next buy is still on Feb 24. I might catch that $ 20k-something price.

The Lakers rearmed themselves and are making great deals. If they remain healthy, they seemed very serious about becoming a championship contender once again. As per Dallas, Suns, and Brooklyn trades, I wish KD was just sent to Dallas to team up with Luka. Kardashian bad luck is still on Booker and CP3. Cheesy But actually, I really thought that Luka and KD make a great combo. Kyrie's dramatic skills should be in Phoenix.

And why is it that the Miami Heat aren't making any moves before the deadline? From keeping cap space in order to chase Giannis and then to KD to nothing. Sad

Vargas vs Foster final press conference and face-off:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjZ0mlTRGjI

Of course the regular exchange for this boxer in the press conference, Vargas says that Foster hasn't gotten a good sleep, while Foster said he will send Rey Vargas back to 126 lbs after he lost this fight. It also includes Mario Barrios and Puerto Rico’s Jovanie Santiago,10-round welterweight co-main event As well as unbeaten heavyweights Lenier Peró and Viktor Faust.

What a heated exchange of words between these two and I hope it's not just about trash talk but they will really eager to do it for real.

I'm looking forward to Rey Vargas winning the fight so he can settle now with the Super Featherweight.

Vargas is unable to secure his target fights at 126 so instead, he considers moving up to face new challenges. It's a wise decision as even if he loses this match against Foster, he's still a champion at 126.

Yes, but for me, it's just the trash talk, what's important is how they are going to perform inside the ring. Vargas still a slight favorite to win this fight, 1.7x against 2.0x for Foster.

Same here, I think with Vargas height and reach advantage, he will put Foster at bay here and then win in the cards of the judge and then settle here at this weight as he is looking for bigger fights maybe against another Mexican warrior in Leo Santa Cruz.

If only Vargas continued to work on knocking out his opponents like he did when was still a prospect, he could move up as much as he can. But I guess fighters with less power have limits when moving up since their bigger opponents might not get scared of getting hit for a chance to unleash their own power punches. But I also think that Vargas can overcome Foster.

If Vargas wins, he might be mandated to face former 2 division champion, Oscar Valdez. Both Vargas and Valdez already said they want the fight. This fight is bigger than Vargas-LSC but with Vargas being handled by PBC, it might not allow Vargas-Valdez to happen. Maybe Vargas-LSC is possible but it also depends if the latter is still interested in another risky fight with a lesser named opponent.
1774  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: February 10, 2023, 12:37:01 PM
At least Canelo is being honest and chill despite his past issues and differences with Ryan. With regards to the venue, a stadium might be cool to cater to more audiences but the organizers might opt for smaller, easier-to-manage, and boxing-proven venues like the MGM. They can easily match the gate revenue by increasing the price of the tickets. There are a lot of rich people regularly traveling to Vegas.

But the main issue right now is who will promote and what network will telecast if a rematch clause is activated. I cannot believe they are confident that this fight is happening yet this one which is very important is not yet agreed upon earlier. PBC showing its toxicity in boxing once again. Al Hymen is greedy once again despite his fighter being clearly the favorite. Obviously, GBP and DAZN should be the ones handling if ever a rematch is happening.

The "rematch clause" is holding this fight back and if they can't agree on it then this fight might not happen at least this April 15. I think there will only be a rematch if Davis is defeated as he is the current champion so it's just fair that Golden Boy Promotion will handle the second if ever that happens so yeah that Al Haymon is killing this fight on paper once again.

Yeah, still hanging on the balance, I thought that they have settled who is going to cover and everything. But this time it's the rematch clause and it shows that Al Haymon doesn't want to give control to GBP in the rematch.

And suddenly, the negotiations turn ugly now, I just do hope that they will keep quiet on it and not let the public knows what's going behind close door. So that they can work it out first instead of going to media which might fuel for either side not to push for it.

This is a big fight, a championship fight, I think it deserves a rematch. On the promoters' end, I believe it's beneficial on them, and for the boxers, they will surely earn a lot of money as long as the first fight entertained the fans. It's not new IMO, why would a boxer does not want a rematch if he believes on himself that he can win again. Well, I'm not talking of the loser though because the losers will automatically want a rematch after the fight, for revenge.

Yes, definitely it deserves a rematch specially if the first fight turns out to be that good that fans wanted more. But the thing with this promoter right now is that they want to make sure everything is right before they agree on such terms.

And that is the stumbling block again in this fight. It's the question on how is going to control the rematch?

What's funny is, they even have the first fight and now they have issues on the rematch clause?
By the way, this fight is not a championship fight unless we call national, regional, and other minor belts champions. Devin Haney already owns all the belts in this division which is why he is called undisputed. Al Haymon's PBC only has a managerial license so officially it is not a promotion but in reality, it is a de facto promotion company since it established and makes deals with tv networks Showtime and Fox. There are still no sources that Tank Davis already signed a contract with any promoter but most likely he signed or he is still under contract to PBC as its manager. So there is actually no need for Tank Davis to sign to a promoter since Al Haymon has many dummy promoters it can use anytime. Even Mayweather Promotion is turning into a dummy as well, probably the reason why Tank left because it served no purpose while it probably took a big chunk of his purse.

Al Haymon or it could be Showtime too in the past blocked a joint promotion and tv deals with GBP and DAZN for the supposedly mandatory fight between Jermall Charlo and Jaime Mungia. PBC/Showtime proposed they will promote and telecast the fight alone and they also want a rematch clause if Charlo losses. In the rematch clause, PBC/Showtime allows GBP and DAZN to do their jobs. So I guess everyone in the boxing world is expecting the same approach in this Tank-Kingry fight. Seems like Haymon and Showtime became more greedy than ever.

And this is what Ryan Garcia has to say:

Quote
On Wednesday evening, Garcia posted an Instagram video of himself training at coach Joe Goossen’s Ten Goose Boxing Gym in Van Nuys, Calif. with the caption, “stop running Tank. Stop hiding from me. Stop staying quiet behind Al Haymon. No rematch clause. Winner takes all coward.”

https://www.boxingscene.com/ryan-garcia-tank-no-rematch-clause-winner-takes-all-coward-stop-staying-quiet-behind-haymon--172359

I doubt though that Al and Tank will have to bow on this kind of threat from Ryan.

I'm still seeing that this fight can be iron out by both parties and the fight pushing in May or in a later date. Brave though from Ryan about the winner takes all suggestion, but it hasn't happen in boxing.
Yeah, winner-takes all are prohibited in boxing. Including betting a huge portion of their purse to the winner. It seems like lazy Kingry is craving an early retirement and wants to cash out big time before he focuses on becoming a full social media influencer. But I don't know why the always-play-safe Hymen and Tank are still scared and want more in the deal. Cheesy

I don't know how long will I hold because it also depends on my financial situation. I have goals of purchasing something big in the next bull run so I am not sure how much is left to hold. Although they are not very close to me, I do know two people that first accumulated bitcoin around 2010 to 2012 and both of them continue to hold hundreds of bitcoins each. One of them I cannot forget is his words saying someone does not deserve the high-value price of bitcoin if they cannot hold strong during a bearish season.

Some might saw it already, but I'll share my opinion with this 3 team trade deal.
https://www.foxnews.com/sports/lakers-trade-russell-westbrook-blockbuster-3-team-deal-reports
Quote
3 team trade deal
Los Angeles Lakers - D'Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt
Utah Jazz - Russell Westbrook, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Damian Jones, and Los Angeles' protected 2027 first-round pick
Minnesota Timberwolves - Mike Conley, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and three second-round picks

All of the 3 teams are winners on this one because the players that they've got will have an effect on the team that they will be playing now. Well, at least that's what I saw in this one.

Utah Jazz - The roster is composed of young players like Clarkson, Sexton, Markkanen, THT. They have lots of scorers and adding Westbrook which is a past-first player will be a big help for the team because he can just pass the ball to these scorers. Add also JTA and Damian Jones for defensive purposes.
Los Angeles Lakers - The Lakers are in need of a point guard that can also score and Russell is the good pick for this one since he's fit for the team. It's a re-unite after him being traded. After the acquisition of Hachimura, they also added Jarred Vanderbilt which is a very good defender as well. Beasley on the other hand is a streaky three-point shooter.
Minnesota Timberwolves - Of all the three, they are the ones that I see the players that they got will have a less impact within the team. A veteran Conley might still be helpful with the team because he's a reliable point guard and his experience might help the team, the age though is a problem at least.

My first reaction was Minnesota seems like giving up this season and then I realized that a veteran Conley might be a good addition to boost Gobert's morale. I knew they were trying to unload D'Angelo even before the start of the season but they just can't find a fair trade. I think Minnesota lost a little in this trade but at least it tried to change something that might work. And the 3 future 2nd round draft picks are just part of the bonus for losing D'Angelo.

I honestly don't think Utah gained anything here. Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt would've been developed and gained meaningful experience when the time Utah is getting their future top picks. There's a chance they will just release Russ. And Russ might steal the rebounds of Markkanen and JC will have less time holding the ball to set up his play. Cheesy

The Lakers absolutely gained a lot in this trade. Any top teams in the west might be in danger in the first round of the playoffs if the Lakers' roster remains healthy.

Same here hindi pa rin ako nakapag register.

Cheesy
1778  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏅 Paris 2024 Olympic 🏊 Discussion & Predictions 🤺 Summer Games 🏋️ 🥅 🚴 on: February 09, 2023, 11:42:44 AM
The age limit was established in 1992, and it has several good reasons.
I didn't agree with it until a few years ago either, but now I do.

  • With the age limit, the competition becomes different from the World Cup, and with chances for different teams to win or get better positions, like Nigeria in 1996, Cameroon in 2000, and Mexico in 2012.
  • Countries are encouraged to invest in youth teams to strengthen soccer as a whole.
  • Young players have the opportunity to participate more, rather than the same players in the major competitions.
  • The soccer players who participate in other competitions such as the World Cup are used to competitions that make a huge amount of money, often more important than the sport itself, and this in my opinion does not exactly fit with the Olympics.

For these reasons above, I believe they made a good choice in limiting the age.
And yet they allow 3 players over 23, so the biggest soccer stars still have a chance to participate.
I don't agree with you. In most sports competitions Olympic Gold medal is biggest achievement that you can get. In football, Olympics probably is just a bit more important than FIFA U-20 World championship. Without biggest stars interest in Olympic football tournament is low and probably not many can name winners of few last Olympics.
Look at basketball, NBA players have huge contracts, but they play in Olympics without getting paid for. Or best tennis players always participate in Olympics without getting rankinf points for.
In Winter Games hockey have similar problem like football. NHL don't want to release their players and without it tournament lose lot of prestige.

We all the different views. But I am also not in favor of any limitations to the Olympics. Olympic boxing, for instance, does not allow professionals from competing so it was all amaterus but lately, it started to allow anyone to compete. The Olympics is supposed to be an event where the best of the best from different sports gather together. Football's FIFA World Cup though is a close rival to the Olympics as both are competing to be called the biggest sporting event. There might be something political behind it.

Not cool. We just started the season and here comes this visa issue again. Although we do not really know the exact reason and it might be valid. But Peru being not noisy when it comes to world politics just like Singapore, I expect that country to be less harsh when it comes to visa processing. And with the new rules on DPC penalties, it hurts already for PSG.LGD. Let's just hope that the next hosts in the coming majors and the TI itself are countries with a neutral stance and not noisy on world politics to avoid possible visa problems.

Inoue's fans, what can you say about this?

They really think that it's a big war and they need to win so their country will be respected.
Looks like they are the ones thinking that way, it's not the battle of USA vs JAPAN, this is a sport, it's boxing and entertainment.
Well, if they think that way, good for them as that means they'll have to work hard to find a way to beat Inoue.

What a weird article posted on Ring's website. I think the point is about Fulton not getting the attention and big respect in the US even if he owns 2 belts while Inoue is glorified not just in Japan but in the whole world. Inoue is ranked 2nd best pound for pound in the world and beating him would make Fulton very popular and probably get ranked in the top 10 p4p by The Ring.

I hope everything is finalized soon since this is a great fight. Fulton might think that Inoue's punches are just the same or even lesser than those of Brandon Figueroa whom he survived and won a very close fight.
