2021  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If Luck Was Measured In Percentage, Rate Your Luck In 2022 From 0-100 on: January 07, 2023, 06:50:01 PM
From playing at online casinos to sports betting, last year was a bust for me. I think I only won around 35% of my total bets. Luckily I am not the same person anymore that does revenge bets which were proven to further widen my losses in the past. Late in the year, I lowered the amount of bets further and I do not have daily bets anymore.

Hopefully, this year is a better one. So far I am 1-1 with a slight loss. Maybe we should focus on a few sports only so we will have more time to research and analyze games.
2022  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could this be the bottom of Bitcoin? on: January 07, 2023, 06:16:20 PM
I think so. Bitcoin has already gone to the bottom. Although it didn't take long before people and various institutions realized to start buying the dip. There are too many investors and newbies that want to buy bitcoin at the lowest price. Do we have some people here that expected bitcoin to drop to $10k or even lower? But what if bitcoin won't drop again to $15k? We better accumulate bitcoin by dollar cost averaging it. This is also the same reason why I am not affected by the movement of bitcoin. If it drops, I have the chance to lower my buying average and my future earnings will be higher too.
2023  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Poll] What are the safest platforms? on: January 07, 2023, 05:56:13 PM
I voted for Binance and Kucoin. All centralized exchanges have the chance to follow the route of FTX. But I also believe that many centralized exchanges learned from the past and are improving their services. They are trying to become transparent to their users to avoid fear and stop their investors from withdrawing their funds. Binance established itself as the biggest and is becoming uncontested when it comes to daily trading volume. I also followed the rise of Kucoin from its humble beginnings to becoming one of the top and solid exchanges in crypto.
2024  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 07, 2023, 05:14:13 PM
Somehow, we as basketball fans would like to see again Lebron James playing in the post season, but we cannot just get ahead because their current roster will not probably get the chance to play at the playoffs considering how inconsistent they are, and players aren't that willing to step-up if there's a situation that needed them to be at the best version of themselves. So far, they are making an improvement, but I still doubt it.

They needed to make a move in this upcoming trade because if they won't then it's best to assume that they won't going to reach far enough, if they will get lucky, they will just probably get eliminated in the 1st round or worse in the play-in tournament.

At least they are showing some signs of life. We are still halfway through the season, so if they can get a move for a key player that can help them, there is still a chance that we will see them in the playoffs. Schroeder, Westbrook, Bryant, and Walker are really showing some improvements. They are just a key player away from being really good. And if AD and Lebron stays healthy, their bid is pretty much alive.
I believe Anthony Davis and the rest of the injured players can return within this season which means the Lakers are still alive. But I also doubt their ability to reach deep in the playoffs. They really need a change before the All-Star period if they want to compete with the likes of Boston, Denver, Milwaukee, and the other title-favorite teams. The Lakers' approach this season though is conservative when they were reluctant to offer their future first-round picks. Lebron on the other hand seems to lose his magic spell in recruiting other players and convincing them to accept low salaries.
2025  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: January 07, 2023, 04:44:29 PM
al haymon from pbc ruined a lot of fights

It is not just Al Haymon that ruined many potential fights since boxing became a big sport. But I agree with you. In the first place, Al Haymon created PBC to become a separate organization like the UFC. Its intent was to create its own championship belts too. Many of its fighters are influenced by Floyd Mayweather Jr. which means focusing only on the business aspect rather than building a legacy.

PBC is just new to boxing and is less than 10 years of operations but it already destroyed and prevented a lot of big fights. PBC prevented us from seeing the huge AJ vs Wilder clash when they were both undefeated and the winner could've been the first-ever undisputed heavyweight in this 4-belt era. PBC also didn't respond nor sent counter-offers to Bob Arum of Top Rank in order to stage Crawford vs Spence for the welterweight undisputed belts. There are too many potential fights I can mention but these 2 are the biggest and could've been historic fights if PBC is cooperative and not scared and selfish.
2026  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Artur Beterbiev vs Anthony Yarde on: January 07, 2023, 04:18:38 PM
So Anthony Yarde is getting pointers and advice from the legendary multiple-champion Oleksandyr Usyk. We will see if Yarde will be able to utilize it. I watched all the 3 amateur fights between Usyk and Beterbiev a long time ago where the former has a 2-1 standing. Iirc they were all close fights and Usyk was hurt several times including getting knocked down once or twice. So Usyk may not be the perfect guy to solve the Beterbiev puzzle but at least he was able to give the heavy bomber some problems with his superior movements. But can Yarde emulate the lateral movements of Usyk or is he capable of moving for a full 12-round fight?

Yarde Says Usyk Gave Him Advice Ahead of Beterbiev Showdown

I hope that advice will help him, if I were Yarde, I would not stick completely to that advice and just have my own strategy to beat Artur Beterbiev. If Usyk is having trouble beating Artur Beterbiev, then it should not be easy for Yarde. Bettors would have a massive payout if this will turns out to be an upset win by Yarde.

I'm just saying something, if someone like Usyk gives Yarde advice, that's something very good and also privileged, as far as I'm concerned receiving advice from legends is something that is quite important, I don't know, but Beterbiev is a very good fighter. big and has a lot of technique and strategies to the maximum, that is something that can happen, according to what I have seen Beterbiev is a fighter who sometimes when he fights is seen as very violent, almost as if he lost control, so I think that for Usyk's advice can go there, of course this is something that I personally speculate about what could happen, however I know that it will give you advice much further.

Beterbiev working like a Trojan in preparation for Yarde

Quote
WBC, WBO and IBF light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev (18-0, 18 KOs) will defend his titles against Anthony Yarde (23-2, 22 KOs) on Saturday, January 28 at Wembley’s OVO Arena. in London.

Yarde, 31, says he has grown and improved as a fighter, since he lost to Sergey Kovalev and Lyndon Arthur and sees Beterbiev, 37, as an opponent he can defeat.

Source: https://wbcboxing.com/en/beterbiev-working-like-a-trojan-in-preparation-for-yarde/
Yes, Yarde is lucky and privileged to receive tips from someone that is in the future Hall-of-Fame and someone that fought Beterbiev 3 times in the amateurs. Although there were changes already as Beterbiev improved. But somehow they didn't fight like kids since they were already in their 20s at that time. Anyways, we will soon find out since the fight is already in 3 weeks' time.

I find it weird for the article comparing Beterbiev to a Trojan. Didn't the Trojans lose to the Greeks as they were being outsmarted? Cheesy
2027  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading as a newbie? on: January 06, 2023, 05:48:18 PM
For somebody with no trading experience, it is better to study first the basics of trading. And then you study the movements of some selected coins like bitcoin. You better stay away from jumping to different coins because charts are not enough to determine the movements of their prices. Look at the history of the top 5 coins in Coingecko and check their charts. You will notice that they can drop deeper than 15%. Bitcoin alone who's considered the most valuable and safest among cryptocurrencies dipped from $60k down to $15k late last year.

It might feel easy to think about earning thru trading. So the best way is to experience it for real. I am not a fan of demo trading accounts so put in $100 and do actual trades while learning the basics.
2028  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I earn from cryptocurrency as a starter? on: January 06, 2023, 05:27:44 PM
I have really learnt a lot from these discussions. They are really an eye-opener, I must say .. Crypto will give millions of people that much needed financial freedom.

There are no guarantees. So far it is bitcoin and a few chosen altcoins that continue to remain steady at the top. Bitcoin is of course the safest among all cryptocurrencies. Ethereum's future may not be that secure after it shifted to POS. BNB is also at risk after the sudden collapse of FTT due to the fraudulent activities of FTX, another huge exchange like Binance. And let us be clear that bitcoin is a currency, it may stabilize in the future just like the US dollar. But for now, bitcoin still has a big room for growth as there is only a low percentage of the world population that owns a portion of it.
2029  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you bet is chess matches? on: January 06, 2023, 05:06:05 PM
I played chess a lot when I was a kid but I stopped when I entered college. Last year I tried to follow it again with the purpose of betting but then again life became busy and I really do not have much spare time for it. The only names I cannot forget in today's chess are Magnus Carlsen and Ding Liren. So I won't bet on chess tournaments these days only because I am not so updated as to who are the top players these days and their playing styles which matter a lot when it comes to betting.
2030  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 06, 2023, 04:17:28 PM
I'm still trying to understand Clippers as an ORG as this team is playing great basketball sometimes and the other times , they are considering basketball a joke...and if I remember well and I do , Clippers was the most hyped team some years ago right ? look what this hype made to them a few years later...

I think it was like 2019 when the Clippers were hyped by the media and other NBA fans because that is the year Kawhi Leonard joined the team. Understandable because he already made a name for himself by joining the Spurs in 2011 and was like one of the hottest players during the 2016 - 2017 season. Unfortunately though, he cannot really carry the Clippers all by himself. Pair him up with Paul George, another dude who's really prone to injury and you'll really have some problems.

Well, Kawhi Leonard was a proven elite or even recognized as the league's best player at the time when he left Toronto. The Clippers gambled a lot just to satisfy his demands including his rumored residence that is far from Los Angeles which result in some of their delayed travels, etc. Although he was probably worth it that time, Clippers' management doesn't care if Kawhi would play or not or if he plays with limited minutes because they just want to see him healthy during the playoffs.

Now, Clippers is becoming like a joke of an organization. Kawhi seems like he is not in his prime anymore. Maybe they can still reach the playoffs but what they are showing these days are not enough to go deeper.
2031  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gervonta Davis VS Hector Luis Garcia SAT, JAN 07, 2023 on: January 06, 2023, 03:54:30 PM
Here is what Luis Garcia has to say regarding Tanks recent brushed with the law.

Quote
“I don’t think he has lost focus because I’ve seen him continue with his great training and the way he has continued working, just like he has before,” Garcia said during his open workout earlier this week. “He’s a great fighter for a reason. And I know that he’s gonna want to represent his country and his city, just like I do.”

https://www.ringtv.com/648203-if-hector-garcia-didnt-catch-your-eye-in-2022-he-says-youll-know-him-after-he-beats-gervonta-davis/

And that is a good sign that he is not underestimating Davis because he knows that he will come full prepared despite the distraction from the background. I like though that Hector is really very confident that he will pull against upset in his career. And we knows that he is the underdog in this fight and he likes that kind of set up, maybe it will give more more fuel and fire and with no pressure at all in his shoulder.

Edit: Here is the press conference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Y4EOq_SS4M

I think Tank remained focused in this fight. Otherwise, he could've easily canceled this fight with no problems at all as he is the PPV guy here.

I would be impressed if they gave Hector Garcia a minimum of 2 months to prepare. With less time to prepare while Tank was obviously training already, it is hard to imagine an upset. Although I would love Hector to score an upset.

PBC people and its partners always try to hype Tank's PPV events to their loyal followers. Here's the face-off where Tank tried to scare Hector Garcia. https://fb.watch/hT_cJYUb-2/

It didn't took long before the Philippines won a belt. But this was unexpected as most of the country are rooting for the likes of Casimero, Donaire and Magsayo to grab the nation's first belt this year. Melvin Jerusalem captured the WBO minimumweight belt earlier today in Osaka, Japan. Jerusalem landed a perfect thunderous straight right on now former champion Masataka Taniguchi's face who fell hard and was not able to recover.

So Dana White and his family seem to remain intact unless his wife will change her mind. He and his wife Anne talked it out, exchanged apologies, and settled their differences. So Dana and his wife had been together since they were very young. It probably helped them both especially Anne to forgive and apologized as well. Otherwise, Anne would've been swayed by different rights and women groups to file a case and divorce Dana which would probably endanger the UFC. Anne's statement probably ends this issue sooner than later.

2035  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: January 04, 2023, 04:11:32 PM
I was already annoyed by Errol Spence and PBC since the days when they aren't responding directly or indirectly nor proposed counter-offers to Bob Arum and Terrence Crawford before. Now Spence is becoming more annoying. He actually has overdue mandatories to all his 3 belts but because he is a PPV fighter and PBC is one of the biggest promotions in boxing, these sanctioning bodies are reluctant to impose a serious mandate on him without getting the approval of PBC who's likely to get Spence approval as well.

Stanionis is supposed to get his shot at the real WBA belt. The same with Boots who already won an IBF eliminator since early last year. Vergil Ortiz had been the WBC number 1 for a time and should be given a mandatory status too or maybe an eliminator against Thurman. Too many good names are involved in Spence yet he continues to remain silent or post nonsense something in public. And I honestly do not understand why he won't take Thurman who's IMO the weakest of these names.
2036  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 04, 2023, 03:50:30 PM
With Nuggets if the joker can not play that will be a problem for the Nuggets, but for now, they are still playing with him, and has good health right now,
He will be crucial if he misses the playoffs. That means Gordon, Murray, and Porter Jr. will need to step up their game in a level they never had done.
Jokic is the heart of their team, it's hard to imagine a Nuggets team without him.

This is the negative side of a team that depends mostly on a single player. Teams like Milwaukee and Denver will be easily at the bottom of the rankings if Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic are out. I don't think the rest of the roster can really compete well. Unlike the other teams like Boston and Memphis, they are surrounded by too many talents that they can perform well even with the absence of one star.

Denver is on top of the west and is even competing to lead the overall ranking is surprising to me. We are still half of the season anyways and there are a lot of swings that happens since the start of the season. But somehow after winning back-to-back MVPs, I like to see Jokic getting a ring.
2037  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 03, 2023, 04:58:26 PM
What site ranking is this in the first place? I just want to know. I doubt it for the GSW this time around it looks like they won't gonna make it. These days it keeps getting unpredictable on who's gonna win the NBA championship, and, when the playoffs come that's when the most unpredictable thing happens.

I do not know where you are basing that comment, but GSW still looks solid even with their poor start this season. They are 19-18, which is above 500. They are currently on a 4 winning streak and 5-5 on their last 10. All that was done without Curry and Wiggins. They are currently ranked #9 which is still okay since they still have 45 games to play. Last year, I think, they finished 5th in the West and were still able to take home the Championship. As long as they are able to get into the playoffs, they still have a good chance of winning the chip. They are a different beast in the playoffs, especially if they are all healthy.

5 winning streak now for GSW. They are performing decently even without their 2 starters. And it is also clear that Steph and Wiggins can return this season so the experts are already anticipating the team to get a spot in the playoffs. This team is proven over time and they are indeed a different beast once they enter the playoffs. Due to their wide experience in the finals, their upcoming young players' confidence continues to grow each day as they are mentored by the very best of this decade.

The odds I posted earlier was taken from BK8's NBA outright. Maybe some other sports betting sites have different odds but they aren't that far and they will become more and more close as the season progress.
2038  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 02, 2023, 01:23:48 PM
With a quick submission by Makhachev against Oliveira, I think that's the reason why people think Makhachev will win against Volkanovski. Although Volkanovski was already fight everyone in his weight and remain undefeated, he seems can't compete against Makhachev. Volkanovski is a kickboxer, he will get a trouble since Makhachev is a wrestler, even Oliveira is a good wrestler too but can't survive for complete 5 rounds.

We know how strong Makachev is since he has been winning these past years because of his high skills and experience when it comes to wrestling and he is giving his opponent a really hard time when he looked them by submissions. But we also know Volkanovski is the number one rank in their division and might gonna be hard to beat because he is different from other fighters he fought before. It might be hard to believe but, obviously, most people are cheering for Volkanovski because Islam Makachev has been demolishing their idols and they wanna revenge using Volkanovski.

While I agree that Makachev is a beast and a special talent, the champ hasn't demolished yet any big names that are idolized by the fight fans except for Oliveira. There are many fans that prefer to cheer for the underdogs. Most fight fans also prefer striking skills rather than ground and wrestling skills. Makachev should be able to handle Volkanovski in his first title defense. But it will be interesting how he feels fighting as the champion in an opponent's backyard which is the opposite when he took the belt from Oliveira in front of his fans.

If Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje win their next bouts, they will probably get a shot on Makachev as well. They will be taken into the ground but these guys might land their bombs first to test Makachev's chin, something Oliveira handled but not before badly getting hurt.
2039  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 02, 2023, 12:54:29 PM

This is the current NBA championship odds at the start of the year. GSW is still the 3rd team favorite to win the title. It is because once the current active roster can maintain at least a 50/50 or 40/60 win rate they are still very capable of earning a spot in the playoffs once Curry, Wiggins, and co are back into their regular roles. The odds also favored the teams that have deep playoff experience rather than the teams that are performing well in this regular season. Fair enough, the playoffs are a whole new level compared to the regular games where sometimes defense and hustle are not fully activated.
2040  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: (Boxing) Kazuto Ioka vs Joshua Boxing Match Begins 31 December 2022 on: January 02, 2023, 12:18:52 PM
I haven't seen the fight nor did I do a review on the full replay yet. But I did read and heard from a lot of people on social media that Franco deserved the win. Today I reviewed the punch stats and I am surprised that Ioka seems to have edged Franco. Based on the unbiased per-round punch stats, I have it 115-113 or 7 to 5 in favor of Ioka. Although there are times that jabs can be as good or even better than power punches, I just considered that generally, power punches weigh more than jabs. So I gave Franco rounds 4, 6, 7, 11, and 12 for a total of 5 rounds only. I agree that a rematch should happen or if not, let them face the other champions and stars in their division like Chocolatito, Estrada, and Bam.
