Taking away the rights of an average citizen to obtain and use a gun doesn't prevent criminals and psychopaths from getting guns. It just means that regular people won't be able to defend themselves.
In the United States, illegal guns are used in almost 90% of the gun-related crimes. With Mexican drug cartels such as the Los Zetas, Barrio Azteca and Los Mazatlecos expanding their operations to the Southern United States, it is only a matter of time before states such as Texas going to get swamped from illegal firearms. And if you take the guns away from the American citizens in these states, it will make them sitting ducks against the drug peddlers.

America obviously has no chance to do anything about gun crime due to so many gun toting citizens.

Also did you just seriously use america declaring independence from the uk as a reason why you should have guns nowadays? I think you may have misunderstood me, i agree that yous should be allowed guns, there's so many guns in america that your all screwed, it's too late for gun control for you.

The murder rate in England and Wales has risen sharply for the first time in a decade at a time when police have diverted detectives to investigate historic sex abuse and allegations against tabloid newspapers. New figures show that the number of murders and manslaughter deaths increased by 14 per cent last year bringing the annual total to 574, or 11 deaths a week. Officials at the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the surge was concentrated in London and the South East and described it as “peculiar”. However, police sources said contributory factors may have been the re-deployment of detectives in London – where a fifth of the additional murders took place – as well as growing violence among migrants, including organised gangs. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/12112024/Violent-crime-jumps-27-in-new-figures.html

Because atm criminals don't really use guns in robberies, the cases where guns arr used is gang on gang violence. If your everyday civilian has guns then the bad guys will arm up too.

The point is to rubbish your gutless arms-length statistical approach to calculating the utility of kinetic mechanical advantage in emergency situations, and ridicule your utilitarian approach to considering the existence/desirability of the human right of armed self-defense. Let me be clear. Real Americans #ShootBack. That's why our ruggedly self-reliant citizens are no longer the property of the Crown and Throne. English Pinkos #DieCoweringAndWhimpering. That's why they remain the helplessly infantalized property of the Crown and Throne, as their children shall also be, as since time immemorial have been their fathers, mothers, and grandparents. This isn't about the likelihood of gun wielding robbers; if you are not free to bear arms you are a slave.

What I'm saying is that criminals in the uk know they could be caught and carrying a gun carries a minimum sentence of 5 years so the majority don't take the risk to get a gun, the ones that are intent to do damage use knives, this lowers the risk factor significantly. They've obviously come up with a tactic that persuades criminals to use knives instead of guns. That's an improvement.

Yes, you got it. Single mothers protecting their children from bad guys with knives should only be allowed to use knives (and upper-body strength) in self-defense. It wouldn't be fair to give them an advantage over their assailants in the form of a gun. A single mother has no right to effectively resist initiation of violence with overwhelming retaliatory violence, only the right to bleed out as she sees and hears the bad guys doing whatever they like to her child. /(former) MP Jo Cox logic
