I think bitcoin has the potential to replace not only the dollar but fiat as whole, the problem is I don’t think it is going to be anytime soon and also the governments will do anything they can to avoid that to happen.

It has the potential but it is not going to happen. Even how bitcoin is going to be a good thing and people are going to demand for it. The state is still the one to decide for it which has the possibility of not going to be granted. And it's hard to depend the whole financial system with bitcoin because for not having a stable price.
The state may decide that breathing is illegal and the only thing that will cause is for everyone to become criminals, just look at the war on drugs it has not worked at all and people keep asking for more of those illegal products, as long as bitcoin it is useful it does not matter what the state say but what the people want.

Hey mate, I am into bitcoin but let us face the fact that the chance of being world’s currency of bitcoin is their because of adaptation of people is fast, and the users are increasing every now and then and for sure things will be in the right time, but mate to see the status of dollar no need to ask for that if it will be replaced by bitcoin itself, dollar is so strong to be replaced by any currencies fiat or virtual. But then who knows what will happen in the future, tho we can see that not all can access bitcoin that fast like those who are in hill and seashore.

Its more easy dollar replace bitcoin, bitcoin still hiden for a big part of the world, making it a ghost currencie for the world. Even if we do will be alive to see the current fiat system be replaced by digital world, bitcoin wont be the solution to handle all transactions.
I can not agree with you. bitcoin is still hidden from most of the world but it will not be hidden for long time. peoples are getting aware about bitcoin. bitcoin have a lot of chances to earn money. a great payment source and secure to save money.. replacing dollar is a big thing but bitcoin took its place and it will not be replaced by any currency.

Well, I guess you're right. but, this time, bitcoin not be better than the dollar. bitcoin has not been recognized by the entire community, and yet are 100% legal, because there are some states that make it illegal bitcoin. it may be very many processes that must be passed to the bitcoin replace the dollar, and I am sure it is a long process.

It is not true that bitcoin need to replacement into dollar, But it is also true entire world don't know about bitcoin. But You know bitcoin has entered in this world only 7 to 8 years, but still bitcoin has a good condition, and whose know about bitcoin, they use it into their life. So it take time and after 10 to 15 years bitcoin would not required to known everywhere in this world.

Don't see this chance in about 10-15 years. But bitcoin need to be satisfactory and adoptable. Unlike fiat currency value of bitcoin depends on supply and demand and can easily be manipulated to put an effect on a country's economy. This can not be done with original currency like dollar etc. It's value is set by central bank on the basis of resources like gold, silver and others. So bitcoin can't be replaced to dollar soon. There is a strong position of bitcoin in economy but weak points as well.

Coinbase CEO believes bitcoin will replace dollar within 15 years.

Read the following news:
http://cointelegraph.com/news/114983/coinbase-ceo-bitcoin-will-replace-dollar-within-15-years

Do you think it will be true? Are you positive towards bitcoin's future status?

The Coinbase CEO has special interests in Bitcoin because his entire business is based on its use. Therefore it is normal for him to hype this crypto-currency. I am positive towards Bitcoin's future status but not as much as the Coinbase CEO.

No, I don't think bitcoin will replace dollar soon because I saw strong foundation of dollar for a long years, and its been dominating most of the worldwide currencies when we talk about businesses concerning exportations. Bitcoin has a good impact to the lives of the people specially when generating profitable income but it doesn't mean it will overcome dollar fiat currency, because btc economy is fluctuating.
yes i also agree with you. i also do not think that dollar cannot replace bitcoin soon, actually the users of bitcoin is not so much. people are currency using bitcoin for trading and investment.  but in future bitcoin can only be used as currency and then we will be able to use bitcoin even in our local shops.

Bitcoin cannot surpass dollars and bitcoin cannot replace fiat currency. Though bitcoin will have huge value but its value is still backed up by dollars. Bitcoin cannot be declared to replace fiat digital currency since no one will announce that bitcoin will replace fiat currency and thats because bitcoin is decentralized. Unlike fiat currency that is controlled by the government bitcoin has no center wherein they can easily be placed as the official legal tender. Only the government around the world has the ability to agree and decide that bitcoin will be used as a universal legal tender. But that is impossible to happen.

I guess so, time will come this thing is not impossible, things with bitcoin are now great so beating fiat is not impossible but just a hard time if so, because of the adaptation of the community of virtual money but for sure, once the government totally implemented bitcoin as their currency.
well we all might not be alive anymore if ever that time comes. if you compare which is more accessible to most people in all levels of society, fiat does not have any competition. Yes bitcoin has every potential to be a main currency but definitely not the main currency. take for example those countries that has very limited internet access for the longest time. of course we have technology to consider and not all countries have the luxury to have decent internet access

Yes, it will be difficult, because not all people understand, sometimes the sense of trust could be the reason, take a long time, many aspects of which must be observed if it want to replace between the dollar with bitcoin, from facilities such as internet access or on-site security. I think it will take a long time for this, there will be a lot of discussion, there will be plenty of opposition, there will be a lot of adjustment, adaptation with other countries

Don't trust anyone in undone things, it is not yet happened. And It will never happened anymore, the bitcoin is so far from the start it will continue at long-last. Many people need bitcoin in their daily lives and other are new. Some also used bitcoin used for their business. And also 15 years very long so I think I have a wife in that time.

Yeah but unlike all national currencies, Bitcoin started from scratch: initially, it was worthless while each national currency had a value from the start, at least inside the nation who creates.
Unlike all national currencies (and unions currency, such as the euro), Bitcoin has no geographical limits: it can, at least in theory, to appreciate up to replace any of the global money supply (and I don't even know who also see the opportunity to replace stocks of value like gold, diamond, money...).
every national currency has their value inside and outside the country, every fiat has a geographical limit, either to one country or some more but in fact there is not such fiat currency which may have the same value everywhere in all over the world. bitcoin is the 1st crypto currency which has the save value all over the world and having no geographical limit at all.

The day the dollar’s price is measured in bitcoin is the day bitcoin replaces it, which I don’t think is happening in my lifetime. For me, bitcoin will always be a volatile currency that many view as an investment while also serving as an alternative way to pay for transactions. The dollar’s value isn’t going to just vanish in thin air because it is backed by the most powerful nation in the world.

I don't think it will happen 15 years later or more than 15 years, Many people just see Bitcoin an alternative payment processor and investment, and few people see Bitcoin just for the community. With current US citizen more than 320 million and many people beside US citizen use USD it's will be hard for Bitcoin replacing Dollar. People still trust in USD or local currency if they saving Bitcoin is just for saving.

No, Bitcoin will not replace Dollars. Bitcoin only will be a secondary payment option since most of people in the world even dont know to operate a computer in developing countries.

Bitcoin has already replaced dollar in the deal of world’s most expensive pizaa so there are many bitcoin users who prefer bitcoin over dollar or other fiat currencies but I don’t think bitcoin will vanish the dollar or any other fiat currency. On individual level, bitcoin has already replaced our fiat currencies (at least online).

That pizza story gets a lot of attention, but it's not an accurate way to think about it. At the time that guy bought the pizza, those bitcoins were only worth the price of a pizza. It wasn't a million dollar pizza. It's the same thing as looking at a gambling website that had 1000 bitcoins wagered on it when Bitcoin was only worth $200. The value of the wagered amount is $200,000. A couple years later, if Bitcoin is worth $1000 each, it's not accurate to say that the website has had $2,000,000 wagered on it, cuz the amount wagered was only $200,000 at the time.

I really don't see bitcoin becoming a threat to the country. Why would it become a threat if you can't use it as it is. It can only be a threat if all your citizens are using bitcoin and buying their food in the other country.

But since we have no choice, we have to convert to local currency, that means the bitcoin that we earn becomes beneficial to our economy rather than a threat.

It will only be a threat if it is used by terrorist or way to launder money.  I never thought if all citizen buying food with bitcoin as a threat because at a certain point this bitcoin will be converted to its local currency, Meaning the money circulates within the country not outside of the country.
