Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"

As for us who just started, There is no guarantee that we wil get lots of profits for the upcoming years but the chances that it will happen is high that's why I will hold my bitcoins .

Well, experts say that the bubbles happens only once. Remember the dot com boom of the late 90s? Those who invested in stocks such as Dell, Microsoft and Cisco got as much as 200X and 300X profits. That was almost two decades back. The stocks are still there, but they are no longer giving those sort of returns.

You should already realize by now that bitcoin is a bit of a different animal.  Of course there are some comparison points, but your analogy to tech bubbles (and supposed experts) seems a bit self-serving and skewed in some kind of misplaced analogy sense to suggest that there is not going to be another bitcoin bubble (preposterous)

Well, experts say that the bubbles happens only once.

You are obviously putting excessive trust in the wrong 'experts'. Bitcoin has _already_ experienced several bubbles. You can't meaningfully apply lessons learned from the stock market to Bitcoin - cryptocurrencies are an entirely new asset class. Their existence -- and consequently their behaviors -- are entirely without precedent.

Hahahahahahaha

My comment was too late.  I was already beat to the subject... and with a more elegant answer....  Cheesy    Wink

1) Self-Custody is a right.  There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k
Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Haha !! This thread was posted 2011 I hope those guys all listened because they would habe made 20x their money. Its crazy to think. It probably still true now. I think bitcoin will only go up and not Eben the sky is the limit ! Its not too late !! Just dont spend all your bitcoins at once Wink You might need them for later when the price sky rockets.

OP's prediction is right, but it still does not hit $10,000. probably it can be true in the next years, just keep watching.

those who keep holding their bitcoin from 5 years ago, even 3 or 2 years ago can be rich know because the price is high enough now.

http://astrohacker.com/ahc/bitcoin-is-the-economic-singularity/

After reading this, the scale of black market and digital economies and the effect Bitcoin will have on them I am pretty certain we are going to be very wealthy men -- even with a sum as small as 10 Bitcoins. It's just so hard to believe. We are only in the beginning storms with these significant rallies from 10 to 20 dollars. I will not be surprised to see prices from hundreds to thousands in the coming months.

The world just isn't going to be the same and we have been blessed as the pioneers.

What are you going to do with your Bitcoin wealth once your coins hit upwards of $10,000 a pop?

always great to dig this thread up.

While it still "is just so hard to believe", the sentiment remains and we are now much further down the track with a lot of history behind us.

OP is long gone now... I wonder what was his actual nickname. For some reason his account was deleted. I remember hearing the story about it a long time ago and it was interesting... pretty much an story of going from rach to riches then disappearing.  I think he did the right thing, considering that back in the day the community was very small and it would have been easier to track his money. If he was a very early adoptor he must have tons of money by now, a millionaire for sure. I dont have that problem since im poor, but if I was rich I would have done the same.

Yup. I miss 2011/12, despite all the scams and crazy looks I'd get from respectable people when I mentioned bitcoin to them. Smiley

Hah, 2100BTC.. I'm struggling with reaching even 1BTC and you're talking about over two thousands! I wish I could go back in time and buy hundreds of thousands of Bitcoins in 2010 or 2011. The price was so low and nobody ever trusted it would go up to even a dollar. We're now at over $1k and it now seems impossible for the price to reach $100.000, what do you think? The chances are, it will get to that price in Q4 2017. I'm always thinking about that guy celebrating Bitcoin by buying pizza .. I cannot imagine how bad he should feel right now, that was $10 MILLION. If the pizza shop still has that amount.... The owner should be on an island with everything he wants right now!

That was an interesting time and this is sort of a time machine back to see what people were thinking was going to happen back then with this new and unknown piece of currency.
The ones that stuck with it through thick and thin have really benefited the most of and and continue to do so.
Glad to be part of this wild roller coaster ride too, well the good times that it had shown me so far atleast. Wink

Well, yeah, it is a hell of a ride for me over 2016, my bitcoin stash at one stage peaked at 30~ BTC but then lost it all on various sites gambling. That was my mistake, especilaly when I could have just held the coins and reaped a nice profit from the price hikes.

30 BTC is $30,000 at current price levels. It hurts to even speak about it lmao.

Wow! Amazed that this was wrote more than 5 years ago. I'm sure you guys must be quite rich now.
But for us newbies, not there yet. It will take much more to own 10 BTC now, but hopefully we will reach that mark and then I think we will be quite rich as well.

Yeah/.... one thing is holding 2100 coins and another thing is managing them for 5 of the subsequent years....

But in hindsight we can see that if you had 2100 coins in 2011, you could have liquidated 100 coins per year and still been o.k with about 1500 coins, currently.  Not the best management, but somewhat plausible and reasonable.

No. You are not late.

Right now, only around 1 million individuals use Bitcoins. And remember that the world population stands at around 7 billion right now. Less than 0.02% of the humans are using BTC.

Imagine what could happen if BTC becomes popular. Imagine the market cap, if we could have 1 billion users!

Even just buying 1 BTC for $1,000 would be a decent hedge, it seems.

Although it would probably be better to buy more than 1 so you could have room to use them here and there along the way... and even to dollar cost average from here on out would not be a bad idea.
