MotoGP finally gets underway this weekend, but right at the start of the new season World Champion Martin is out. The serious injury, a broken radius in his left arm, has put the next two races in doubt and he is unlikely to race.

It was already difficult for him to defend the title after switching to Aprilia, but now it will be almost impossible. Too bad for Martin.

It is now offical.

Tomorrow both Drivers for Ferrari will drive the car.
Hamilton will be the 1st in the mortning and Leclerc will drive in the afternoon.


All the teams looks like the will race with both drivers everyday.
This is new, in the past year some teams were driving with only 1 driver per day.

What about this Hamilton's being 0.8 seconds behind Leclerc thing? Is this really related to the car difference or just related to Hamilton's adaptation process? -snip-

I think it's because Hamilton is still adapting to his car so that makes him slower than Charles. But maybe it's just the beginning, after a few races maybe Hamilton will be more used to driving his car and can catch up with Charles. This is still a normal process and very reasonable considering that he usually drives a different car compared to Ferrari.

Yeah probably it is because of that. We are going to find out how ready the drivers are as of Day 1 in testing. Hamilton has been driving for a while and it feels really different. 

Seeing him at Ferrari is going to be a thing that will take some time to get used to. Who knows maybe one day we would see Verstappen also here. He has sympathy for Ferrari since his childhood.

I hope Ferrari makes a good start to this season. Just please don't screw up with such lovely drivers this time.

Watched afternoon session and we saw one of strangest red flags ever. Action in track stopped for a hour after power cut:

Good that they gave 1 extra hour because it would be just ridiculous to lose already so much limited testing time because of such reasons.
It's not worth to make big conclusions looking at lap times, more important is how many laps were completed. Though, Haas today looked like F2 car

Past years we got red flag for sand on track.
Usually when they red flag an entire session, they move it to another day in this case if the were not continuing the session probably they gave another session in the morning of 29.

Same drives in the top for today, In the afternoon is easier to go faster this is also why probabably this afternoon every car improved.

It is indeed quite unfortunate for Martin because he has to rest to recover from the injury from training that he did himself. And it is a bit heartbreaking to see last year's world champion rider have to miss the start of the season in the first race of the season even though it is for his own good. As for the Aprilia factory itself, I just hope that their bike can be better than last season so that Bezzecchi can be in positions that are not bad when racing this season because he is also one of the riders who can give the best input to a team like Aprilia.

Seeing Sainz in 5th position on the first day of testing session is a little proof that he has given a lot of input to Williams to improve their car and adjust it to his driving style. Likewise with Kimi who was able to be in 7th position, even though it was his first time doing an official test with Mercedes. And for the others it is still okay, because this is not the first time for them to do testing. We still have the second test session, and most likely the difference will not be far from the results of the first test.

Anyway, I wonder how Aston Martin would look if it didn't rain.  With the few laps that you guys have seen Alonso, do you guys think that he could have a chance to get the fastest lap in preseason testing?  People want to know. 

Me and a friend have a bet 2 to 1 that Aston Martin will get the fastest lap, while he bet that Ferrari will get it.  If it's any other team, then it's null and void.

That will certainly make him very sad as he can't start and he doesn't know when he will be able to start again without pain or injury, I think around 2 or 3 races.

Aprilia was not a bad bike last year, but it was very special, on some tracks it ran very well, on others it was not competitive, hopefully the engineers have got a better grip on that this year. But you also have to remember that Aprilia has the smallest budget of all the manufacturers.

it's a shame that martin has to skip the race at the buriram circuit later because of the injury he suffered... even though i wanted to see how his performance is in his new team, but bad luck befell him. hopefully he can recover quickly and can start the race faster. now aprilia can only rely on bezzecchi to be able to give them points, and hopefully he can give the best results in the race later.

It's no that they didn't wanted, they simply didn't had inter or wet tyres for testing as they didn't requested it from Pirelli. Only Haas and Aston Martin had it. You usually don't expect rain in Bahrain, so it makes sense to have all 35 sets of slick tyres.
In afternoon session there is already somevlapntimes better than last year qualifying.

Yeah but I think pirelli are changed this year in comparison to the past year.
Also I don't know they compound they used the past year and which ones are using during the tests.

If the compounds they are using now are softer then the timers can change even by 2 seconds for lap.

Huge step foward for Williams

Sainz's consistency to be in a good position in this test session shows that even though he is in an ordinary team, but with his skills and experience that he brought from Ferrari, it proves how he can adapt to his car and improve his performance on the track. If it is like this, then it is possible that we will see how Williams, who usually competes at the bottom, can compete at least in the middle, or even in the top 5. It's been a long time since we've seen the Williams like this, and I feel like it's time for them to wake up from their long slumber.

Afternoon session is also done and pre-season tests is over now. Like every season, I don't want to draw any serious conclusion from tests. From now thereis 2 weeks left until the new season.
BTW, we didn't discussed about that 2 pit stop nowwill be mandatory in Monaco GP.:

oh yeah do you wanna know what could be the best strategy?
Stop on 1s lap so you catch up the group, and then stop in the last lap so you cut the final lane in the pit stop and earn seconds 

If nothing happens and the mid is compact it will be a free win
