After linking don't send any transactions, even to yourself, because it will move the remaining bytes to a new change address that won't be linked. Additionally if you are making a backup you need to do a new backup after every outgoing transaction. The reason is the same (bytes are moved to a change address that is not backed up). To sum up: after every outgoing transaction you need to make a new backup and a new linking.

Furthermore a new backup is necessary after receiving every blackbytes transaction because blackbytes are stored on a local device only. If you don't make a backup after receiving blackbytes you won't be able to recover them if you loose access to the device.

This is very important information. Thank you! I will back up my wallet after getting blackbytes from airdrop (I backed before I got blackbytes last time).

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

I thought all wallets (whether linked or not) were going to get the blackbytes 20% bonus, and that it was only folks  trying to claim for having BTC that needed to link.  Is that statement inaccurate?

Yep, that statement is definitely inaccurate. Only linked byteball address will get 0.4222 blackbytes for every byte you hold on a specific address. Otherwise you will only get bytes if your address is not linked.

Beware of change addresses in your BTC wallet AND in your byteball wallet for the next distribution round!

Byteball distribution companion helps you.

          Is you address properly linked?
Is your linked BTC balance what you expected?
Are all your bytes on your byteball linked address?
          How much will you receive?

Thanks for that, I just realized yesterday that most of my Bitcoin isn't linked anymore as they are in change addresses.
It's fairly annoying, but I guess I will just link the change addresses too, rather than get everything back into one address.

I am calling the bottom of the GBYTE price now, I think the build up phase will start soon before the next airdrop.

Some bytes are distributed to dead addresses. Addresses that nobody has access to, i.e. lost by somebody due to no backups. I think it would be better to distribute bytes only to linked addresses.

The problem is it would be difficult to prove if a particular wallet address is indeed no longer active or accessible by the original owner.

You just distribute bytes to linked addresses only. If the address is linked it means somebody has access to it. Anyway GBytes that end up in dead addresses just increase the value of the remaining Gbytes so it's not that big of a problem. It's just a bit wasteful but I can live with that.

But then it's possible that someone linked an address, then lost access to the wallet without a backup, rendering the linked address as "dead" (See all the posts in here from people attempting to recover wallets). There is no real way to know either way...

At least this way, it guarantees that no one (with access) misses out

Ok good deal.  Don't want to miss out on my GB, not so fussed about the GBB - doesn't seem like folks are putting much of a value on those judging by some of the price quotes I've seen.

Has anyone made a point of swapping some of their GB for more GBB? (essentially betting that GBB is the real future of this coin)

Actually, IOTA is innovative and revolutionary coin just like byteball and both uses DAG. It won't get listed on Bitfinex if it is crap technology. Who knows bitfinex will also list byteball in the near future.
