Altcoins were developed only so that people could mine on commodity hardware and it be impossible to mine on GPUs FPGAs ASICs... oh shit, why do they exist now?
Maybe it is time you take a strong look at Nxt!    Wink
No thanks, I took a long hard look at bitcoin and liked what I saw and still like it today.
You were discussing Altcoins if I am not mistaken...    Undecided

Not really, I was dissing them.

Regardless...  there is an answer to your question...    Roll Eyes
I hate to be pedantic but I wasn't... oh forget it Tongue

Hence the drop of GPU support after 3.8. I agree alts are a side show, like clowns. IMHO they're only good for pump n dumps to make more btc Smiley

Bitcoins are to dollars as altcoins are to dimes.

When I have enough dimes.........

You can call them clowns all you want but I make my kids tuition payments with the altcoins I mine.

Bitcoins too, just for the record.

Just remember there are many altcoins that are 4000% more profitable than Bitcoins and at least TWICE as stable.

Everytime China farts BTC crashes.

This is nonsense. Perhaps alts are 4000% more profitable than Bitcoins if you're trying to mine both using a GPU, but no-one is mining BTC with GPUs right now.

The Antminer S1 is $450 right now and will earn around $9.50 a day. I don't think any scrypt mining hardware can come close to returning $9.50 per day with a $450 hardware investment right now.
I like the way you think. keep thinking like that, cuz it lowers the diff for me. I am beating BTC by a couple percent with SHA alts nearly every day. Think what you could do with a couple gridseeds...

I did imagine what I could do with a couple of Gridseeds, and it gives me nightmares. Gridseed miners are quite possibly the worst hardware buy available right now. Each one costs around $200 for 400 MH, and pays a earns a paltry $1 per day, with means they will take ~200 days to ROI not including power costs and difficulty increases.

It takes ~5.6 MH right now to earn a single litecoin per day, which is worth a whopping $14 each.

About the only thing worse than buying Gridseed miners right now would be pre-ording a Titan.   Smiley

It seems the biggest pool at the moment is Unknown (https://blockchain.info/pools) which seems to be KncMiner who was 10% of the hashrate last week (http://organofcorti.blogspot.no/2014/03/march-23rd-2014-weekly-hashrate.html)

I had realized something:

the whole purpose of scrypt miner by KnC is to create the demand for BTC that they are selling from the datorhall.
Think about it, scrypt miners using fast Titan will mine large amounts of LTC, which they will immediately convert to BTC (at least 90%), providing a nice bid for BTC KnC is selling weekly.

That's why we are bombarded by info on how wonderful Titan will be and absolutely nothing on Neptune.
Neptune in the hands of customers will COMPETE with datorhall, hence no incentive of providing it early or with improved characteristics and this is why it is absolutely unethical for all hardware companies to mine on a large scale.

Read messages on knC board-people are almost hysterical now.

true, but all hardware companies sell only preorders with the exception of one Bitmain product/S1
Mining is a great hobby, but unrewarding when you try to make more serious money.
I wanted to mine a few coins to contribute to the process of creating 21mil BTC-you can realistically do it in the next few years (most likely just a couple of years) if you wanted to mine a single WHOLE bitcoin (a part of plant a tree, have a child, write a book...mint a bitcoin ideology).
For savings I can just buy BTC-this way I would have much better tax treatment.

Wow that's a great story. I hope the owner of bitcointalk.org bars Hashfast from attempting to sell/rip off anyone else from this site.

Uh? Bitcoin's value is just fine, when I started last year 1BTC = $140 CAD and gear (120GH/s) was going for about $5k on the open fiat market. If anything I think people should use their gear to play the exchange game, mine something else like Maxcoin or Peercoin and then turn it into Bitcoin, they could probably make Bitcoin's faster because other ASIC alt-coins a much lower difficulty than Bitcoin currently does. Smiley

So if I had the extra cash laying around and there were more Neptune's available to buy to fill two 42 racks that's I what I would do!

I remember many people bailing on Jupiter orders for Baby Jets, and how long the arguments went on and on for weeks and weeks how HashFast was gonna smash KNC... and so was Cointerra. Meanwhile, BFL created a whole new category of company.
Is it outlandish to think Spooners will be are likely to be late?

BUT....  I don't see HOW they can "Freeze" a wallet without the api key.. anyone?
or even WITH the api key. The "freeze" function does not exist. they would have to transfer it to a state held wallet, no?

They don't need to revoke physical access to the key.   If coins move from the address, then it's contempt of court and possible fines plus jail time.  I imagine if they were stupid enough to do something like that then the court would start freezing bank accounts or tangible assets.

*I bailed on my Neptune, waiting in the "Refund ready for process" mode...
I bumped one the other buyers order numbers up to the first spot, and refunded the one last in line, so he will get the first Neptune now... no sense in losing that spot.  ATM, a refund of 10,100 nets 21 Bitcoin, I like that idea, and am hoping the price stays low whilst waiting on the refund.  Wink

I hate to say that, but you can buy 1TH right now with 4-5 days delivery (5 ants with medium over clock) for $2200, or $2400 without overclock. In lieu of plunging bitcoin prices, it might or might not be a good purchase, I am just showing an example of a price war. With low bitcoin price high priced miners with multi month preorder are in trouble.

I think that knc must said more for Neptune miner
And not only for  scrypt miner

Because now they want to sell the scrypt miners

They want people's cold, hard cash to finance their datorhalls. They're not interested in actually producing equipment for people anymore since it creates direct competition for them. Titans are non-refundable, so you will never see your money again no matter how late they are. If you really want a scrypt asic miner then I would hedge a bet on aplha -t

Such a lovely way with words you have.

My post was completely appropriate to the quoted comments.  But I'll delete the 'sig' reference if that makes it better.

Shizzle! That's over 4Th/s for 10k shipped now...   I hope KNC has a Neptune update soon, or there may be a 3rd wave of refunds, lol

Or you could buy 3THs of immediate cloudmining from PBMining for a 5 year contract and pay about $11,000.  And you don't pay for electricity or maintenance fees.  Another awesome bonus... no noise and heat!

I don't understand - 4Thps for $10000 vs 3 Thps for $11000 ? How much do you think electricity costs will be?
